Chapter two

AN: It has been a long time since I've written this story. I have three or four chapters written ou before I got a new computer and lost my old data. So let me share what I will be changing! From now on, I will be writing this in third person. I will be making a few changes to what I had initially planned out! So you may notice the attitude of the protaganist will have changed to a degree. Please don't be alarmed! I promise it will be worth it. So without furthur adue, Let's do this thing!

It all happened too fast for the tiger and fox to react. Yet, for Mouko time seemed to slow as he watched the muddy field turn in his vision. The windshield and side windows smash out from the force of the truck hitting the ground. Dazed but otherwise unharmed, The tiger kicked his door off its hinges only to slide away in the dirt. The tiger sliced his seat belt, letting himself hit the roof and crawl out. He didn't have time to check Damon before he spotted the figure a short distance away. Covered in a haze of darkness, all Mouko could see was his blue eyes and the general shape of his body.

"Now comes your end, Mouko..." The figures voice was deep and unsettling. It seemed to echo from all directions. He, and it was most definitely a male, waves his right arm aggressively, sending the battered truck door towards the tigers head.

There was almost no time to react, the tiger barely managed to roll out of harms way. Quickly he sprung to his feet, growling at the figure. "My end? Pretty confident coming from someone who needs to attack without any hint of your presence. Lets end this fast.. I have school to prepare for." The air around the tiger was set ablaze with black flames, obscuring his entire body so only his blood red eyes could be seen. The flames seemed to suck in the light from the area as the grass under him caught fire and spread. "My turn.." He said simply before punching the air, sending a wall of black flames toward him.

The figure leaped high into the air, easily moving out of the way of the flames. However he was caught by surprise when the tiger seemed to appear in the air above him. With no time or way to react, he felt the flames burn his lower back as the tigers heel made contact, shooting him towards the ground to land in a painful heap. "I see.. They were right when they warned me. But I'm not going down so easily.." The pain was badly covered in the males voice. However he managed to ride into the air. "Call me Vlad." He rose his arm into the air, pointing at the tiger. Before he could speak again, the tiger moved towards him too fast for him to easily follow. He saw those blood red eyes of his much closer then he would have liked. Moments passed before he felt the spreading pain in his chest. The feeling of his windpipes being constricted from the force. He looked down slowly, seeing the burning fist buried in his stomach.

"You talk too much you fool." Mouko growled out quietly. Vlad sunk down onto the ground and onto his knees after mouko stepped back. The haze around the male slowly dissipated revealing a slim, malnourished human. Black rings were under his eyes and the skin of his face seemed to hang off his skull. It was the same with his arms. and legs. He wore a tight black shirt with a fist sized hole in the front and a hole in the back, with black cargo pants. Vlad was starting to cough and wheeze, finally able to breath again. Taking the initiative the tiger flicked his wrist in an upward motion, Water separating from the patches of mud. The water wrapped around him and solidified into solid ice. "Now. I'm going to leave you here. You tell your boss that if I see him, I will end him. I am tired of you people coming after me."

With that, Mouko went back to his friend to ensure his safety.

A few days passed quietly. Mouko had to make several phone calls to deal with insurance, police, and Damons family. Damon still hadn't woken up from the accident. He had quite a few visitors, and Mouko was never there when someone else was. Mouko refused to put him in any danger.

A week passed quietly. Mouko got the call while he was playing his guitar on a bright Tuesday morning. The tiger dropped his guitar onto his bed and took off for the hospital. When he arrived, his other visitors were leaving so the tiger headed right in.

"Hey bud. Glad to see you awake. How ya feeling?" He sat in a chair beside the bed and looked at the fox. The bandages around his head were clean and fresh, and his leg was in a sling.

"Heeey..." Damon smiled tiredly, eyes squinting against the light. "Oh you know.. forget about me.. What happened?" His voice sounded tired and strained but he stared at Mouko, clearly primed to refuse a subject change.

"There was an accident as we drove through that field. The truck flipped because of the ground caving in under the vehicle." Mouko lied smoothly to the weak fox. There was no way he could tell him about the attack.

"Oh.. Alright.." Damon looked out the window at the trees and sky. "They say I can leave here in a few days. I'm healing fast."

"Good! Class begins on monday." Mouko laughed lightly.

"Yea.. Class.. Well get going. I need some food and I can't eat while I have visitors." Damon pressed one of the buttons over his bed while Mouko left the room, promising to see him soon.

___________________________________________________________________________

By Saturday, Damon left the hospital. Mouko was there in a rental to pick him up and bring him back to the dorms. Helping him walk with that cast up the stairs and into their room was easy. But damon wanted to see their large new home in its entirety. Seeing as it was such a high end place, they had their own kitchen, living room, and separate bedrooms. Everything was stacked in boxes in Damons still undecorated room. the living room was filled with two recliners, a sofa, big screen tv with empty stand under it. in one corner, there was a treadmill and bench press set with a few hundred pounds worth of weights. The kitchen was small with just a fridge, sink, and oven with a number of cabinets. Lastly Moukos room was cramped. He had his bed, some guitars, and a large desk with a high end computer. If one looked in his closet, you would see three weeks worth of near identical clothing.

"So there it is. Our place. I can help you unpack if you need it. Let me know if anything is damaged from the accident. I can get it replaced. I had to replace one of my guitars..." Mouko chuckled slightly in memory of when the insurance company heard the value of that guitar. "They lost it after they found the value of that Gibson J-50..." He shook his head and looked back at Damon. "So what do you think?"

"It's fantastic! I ddn't think we'd get a dorm like this!" Damon looked genuinely happy, not caring about insurance issues.

"Yea apparently an elite college filled with pampered rich kids, gives two bedroom apartments to its students." He clearly didn't think much of the place. Expecting a boring time in college.

"I love it! We get to be rommies also!" Damon was far too excited You would think he would be taking it easy after his injuries.

"Yea... So I'm heading to my room. I have some work to do." Mouko left Damon in the living room to relax. As he got into his room, he sat at his computer desk. The tiger ran a hand through his short crop of hair on his head as he let his computer boot up. After a few minutes of checking emails, he checked his finances. Noticing nothing was out of place.. He shut it down and moved over to his bed. Letting himself fall asleep.

After nearly a week of decorating and preparing for classes to begin, Monday finally came. Mouko woke up to the blinding light from his window shining directly onto his face. His alarm blaring. "Bad choice of room Mouko... " He growled out to himself as he got up. He shrugged on the days set of black jeans, grey shirt, and his leather jacket before heading out to the living room. Damon was still passed out as he didn't have class for a couple hours. So he slowly pulled on his black combat boots before grabbing his school laptop and heading out the door.

The trip to class was short and boring. Standing easily a foot above the other students, he was able to find his way rather easily. Checking the name of the building twice, he found his classroom, which seemed to look more like the kind of seats you would find at a theatre. He found a seat at the back and sat through his professors spiel about studying law.

Overall Mouko heard nothing that he didn't already know. Four hours and two classes later, he went home. No homework on the first day and no Damon to chat with. So all the tiger did was collapse on the couch and flick through tv, only half focused. His mind went back to the attack. He wondered if they would try to get him again.

Mouko snapped back to reality to someone banging on his door. One of the guys from his first class was on the other side. It was a medium height raccoon with blue jeans and plaid shirt that was half untucked. "Hey man! Your uh.. Man I don't even know your name bro! Come on there has this awesome party down at Phi Kappa. I've seen you around the ground. Big guy like you.. I'm Mark!" He held out his hand, Mouko took it by instinct and could feel his bones rub together from his grip.

_ 'this guy hasn't been in a fight in his life... fucking rich kids.'_ He thought to himself before he spoke. Releasing his hand, the pained look on his face was gone not long after. "I am Mouko. So what.. Just banging on peoples doors when they might have work to do at.." he looked up at the clock on his kitchen wall. It was barely five pm. "Five O'Clock.. A little early for a party isn't it?"

"Hell no man! It's a good chance for all the freshman to meet some new people!" The guy was probably a member of the frat house. Mouko figured there would be no harm in meeting people. So long as he stayed away from alcohol, there shouldn't be any... incidents.

"Why not.. Lets go then Mark." He stepped out of his place and locked it behind him. Following Mark and five others that the raccoon had already gathered. They walked through the streets of the campus as the sound of music grew louder. Finally the tiger could see a packed.. Well by the size of it, manor, filled with countless species. Everyone mingled and most of them were already drunk. The raccoon leading the group broke off yelling cheerfully at a group of his brothers.

The rest of the group along with Mouko entered the house and everyone broke off to explore or drink or mingle. Mouko himself found his way into the massive backyard where there was drinking and funny enough, brawling. Mouko stood at the back of a large ring , watching two canines brawl. Both were wearing the schools varsity football jacket. To Moukos trained eye, he could see that both were pulling their punches.

After a couple more minutes, mouko crossed his arms and watched one of them finally go down. His football buddy helped him up and they walked off, covered in blood, to get a drink and discuss their brawl. Another move into the ring. "Calm down calm down everyone! Alright lets get another couple guys down here!" The guy was a feline with black fur. Probably a panther who wearing a plain white shirt and jeans. "Anyone?!" He was answered with some calls and plenty of volunteers. "Alright you.. And you!" He pointed to a bird and a familiar face. The raccoon Mark, and the bird was named Brandon.

The two were set loose and both were cautious. They were testing each other. But that changed when the bird threw a right cross and caught the raccoon slightly off guard. It released a sickening crack and he went down. Moments later, he recovered and swept the ground out from under the bird. He forced him onto the ground and started to beat the bird into the ground. The bird had his arms in front of his face to protect it. His knee went up cheaply into the raccoons balls, he cried out in pain and the birl made his move, dropping an elbow into the raccoons chest. It sounded painful and an equine pulled the bird off. A rottweiler moved in and picked Mark up off the ground, carrying the groaning male into the house probably to rest.

"Alright alright! Clearly some of you forgot the rules!" The panther moved back into the circle while the crowd seemed displeased at the end of the fight. "Oh shut up! We aren't doing this to cause injuries! Now! No breaking your opponent. They have to get to class in the morning. Lets get a couple more guys up here shall we?!" Mouko shook his head and went to turn away. But he was faced with one of the guys he walked to the party with.

"Get up there man! You look bored as hell and you need to have some fun!" The tiger glared at the guy but it was too late. Some people in the area heard and were yelling to get him up there. The panther took notice and started to yell over them, much to Moukos displeasure. "You there in the back! Hey big guy!" The tigers eye twitched. He didn't like everyone calling him that. "Get up here!" The tiger turned and pushed his way through the group. He saw the horse that carried the bird away. He was about the same size as Mouko. Maybe a few inches taller. Much like Mouko, he was a wall of muscle. " What's your name freshman?" The panther was looking up at him.

"Mouko." the tiger was eyeing his opponent as he said his mane. The equine was doing the same. "Alright Mouko. Todd. Keep it clean. Try no to rip each other apart." The Panther moved away and stood at the edge. Mouko shrugged at slowly pulled off his jacket. Almost for the first time, the audience noticed how his clearly defined muscles stood out under that tight grey shirt. He threw the jacket to the panther and took a few steps back away from the equine. He cracked his neck loudly. The people behind him were murmuring. They noticed his huge white wings that folded on his back. But stopped when the equine charged at him.

Taking a step to the side at the last moment, the tiger stretched out an arm and let the equine hit it as the tiger stepped into him. Flipping the equine over and onto his back. The tiger moved away and looked at Todd who was slowly getting up. When he was back on his feet, the tiger stepped forward and sent his right fist towards his face. He barely moved out of the way before Mouko Hit him with a right cross, sending him back onto the ground in pain. Mouko was disappointed. He figured that the equine would be a bit more of a challenge. Regardless however, the equine got back up again, his nose dripping blood. He took the initiative and sent a punch towards the tigers stomach. Mouko took a step back and grabbed the equines wrist, twisting him painfully onto his feet and putting him in an arm bar. He pushed him in front of him and kicked his lower back, knocking him back onto the ground.

Mouko looked around and finally heard the cheering. The panther tossed him his jacket and stepped back into the ring. "Calm down, Calm down! This is over! Mouko, good fight. Someone get this man a drink!" The panther called out. "One sided fight like this I won't let continue." He patted his buddy Todd on the back and helped him up. As Mouko put his jacket back on and moved through the crowd, the equine rushed over to him and grabbed his shoulder. Unfortunately for him, Mouko didn't like people touching him without warning. So the tiger reacted and twisted his arm again, forcing a cry of pain out of Todd. "Woah woah! Chill man!"

Mouko let him go and sighed. "Force of habit. I don't like people doing that to me." He warned him for future encounters. "You've got skills. You should join the football team. We could use you." Todd was looking him up and down. "How much do you bench..?" The equine was eyeing him again in a new light after the fight. "Unusual build for a tiger. Plus I've never seen a tiger with wings."

"I have no idea my upper limit.. I usually bench about six hundred comfortably. And don't ask questions about those things. I would rather not put you in the hospital with brain damage for knowing anything about my... Unusual appearance." His voice was calm but an undertone of someone who would actually do it. "Alright alright I won't ask again. But I'm serious! Drop by the field." Todd was being far too pushy for Moukos taste. "I would rather just focus on getting my degree. I might have to challenge the first couple years of my courses to get to my level."

Todd shook his head. "I'm not giving up. Drop by the field for tryouts next week. I'll let the coach know." And with that Mouko walked off. Leaving the party and heading home.

___________________________________________________________________________

A few days passed and some of the guys from the party started to drop by to hang out. Mark and Todd especially. Over the course of the week Mouko learned that half the fraternity was on the Football team. Mouko had also learned that the fight was recorded by a bystander. He got the pleasure of watching it multiple times over the week. Mark was particularly upset that he couldn't watch it first hand. Damon had noticed and seen it also. He cornered Mouko one night after the guys left to have a few words.

"You shouldn't have done that..." Damon started, eyeing Mouko with a look of disappointment. "You know what could have happened..." Mouko couldn't help but shake his head.

"No. That wouldn't have happened. Besides, why does it matter? It was a backyard brawl. It's not like I was even trying." Mouko moved to go to his room but was stopped again.

"You don't get it mou... If you let slip what you could do.. We'd be in trouble here. We'd-"

"No! There is no 'we' Damon. This is my problem. I've been the one dealing with this since I was a kid. Do not stand there and claim to know what I have gone through." Moukos voice was getting rough, fighting through a growl in the back of his throat.

"But.. Mou I..." Mouko stopped him with a vicious glare.

"Don't. Don't try. Don't pretend that you know what I've gone through. Quite frankly, I am sick of you trying to 'protect' me. You can't." Mouko pushed roughly past Damon. Ignoring the tears in the eyes of the fox. He slammed the door behind him and locked it, fighting the anger he felt at the fox for always trying to be overly involved.

Looking at the time, he pulled out some of his law books and focused his anger into his study. He was going to have to push far ahead of his class. But he couldn't fully focus. So he subconsciously rose a hand and it started to crack with electricity. Moments after, it formed into a crackling ball of condensed energy which weaved between his fingers. It shifted between colours as Mouko was finally able to focus on his books.

Quiet hours passed as the tiger finished one of his course books and went to bed. Night had long since fallen. His anger, still in the back of his mind, didn't help him fall asleep for a little while. Something else was bugging him. A feeling of being watched.

A few kilometers out, a small group of figures stood on a hill overlooking the university campus. There were five of them. Each one staring at the very building that a certain tiger slept in. The group looked at one another before moving in. They closed the distance to the outskirts quickly, but they climbed onto houses and buildings. The figures leapt over gaps between the buildings as they closed in. Only stopping on the roof of The tigers building. The group burst into the apartment, shattering windows with tear gas and smoke grenades before moving in themselves.
