Cloricia gets ready for the upcoming season with a head filled with determination....but will she let the changes bring her down?

November 4-8, 2015: Time to go to work

I finally gave Teresa her first paycheck as my assistant. She literally jumped for joy. She deserves it though. She's been helping me out a lot lately. She helps me cook, clean, workout, she even manages some of my calls....not the important ones though. You know, like the ones where Mayors management calls me about my contract. Ugh...I still can't believe that this is my last year on contract. After this season.....I may not be in Huntsville anymore. All the friends I made, all the things we've been through....and I may not even be on the team next year.....no, just calm down Tex. Just....just play your tail off this season and they'll want to resign you....yea.

Practice started immediately after Howlereen was over. I think Wendy had something to do with that, but hey, we have been wanting to practice for a looooong time now. We were excited to come back playing. Some big changes did go down though. The news barely talked about it too. Anyway, the first thing was that T-Balt retired...yea, retired. I'm not sure why, but I wish him the best of luck. The rookies are doing pretty good too. Harrison and Oswaldo are getting the hang of things pretty quick. I've been making sure those two stay in line and work hard, but I think they are ready to go.

One day, I got quite the surprise when I was walking to the practice courts. Tyler Kiko was in a suit and had a bunch of papers in his hands. I smiled and walked towards him.

"Hey, Tyler." I said. "What's with the suit? Don't tell me you got injured already you old goat."

"Actually, I'm your new assistant coach." He said.

"Oh really?" I said surprised. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Tyler was always a pretty smart player. I think he will help a lot. "So, you working with Wei right? How has he been, I haven't seen him in a while?"

"Oh..." Tyler was quiet for a moment. He started to worry me.

"Whats wrong?" I asked. "Where's Vincent Wei?"

"Vincent...is now a coach for the Biloxi Voodoo."

I paused. I just kind of stood there and stared down at the floor when I heard that. Wei is gone. The one person who I always went to for help and guidance....was gone. I would only be able to see him during games.

"Cloricia?" Said Tyler.

I quickly pulled myself together and said.

"Um,....congratulations on the new job Tyler."

I then quickly walked away. My heart felt a little heavy, but I just kept walking.....no, Wei wouldn't want this. He would want me to keep my head up and keep playing. There's no more room for crying or feeling sorry for myself.....it's time to play ball. I quickly got changed in the locker room and walked determinedly to the gym. I saw Wendy down the hall as I was walking by.

"Hey Cloricia!" She called out. I walked straight towards her and said.

"Meet me at the gym. Bring your weight lifting gloves."

I then walked away. Wendy didn't answer back, but I knew she would be at the gym soon.

Wendy and I were killing it in the gym for a good two hours. We did dead lifts, squats, free weights, treadmill, leg press, we even threw around the exercise ball. After all that, we looked like a mess,....but I was starting to feel better. Once me and Wendy were done, I went back to the locker room to change.....I then bumped into Josh on my way there. In case I didn't say it before, I've been....kind of ignoring Josh for the whole training camp. It's just....hard to talk to him....but today was different.

"Hey Tex." He said with a smile.

"Hey." I answered.

"Hey, where were you today? It's 2 remember? Ha."

"What?....I was at the weight room."

"Oh...well, it's just that we usually work on jump shots at 2. I had to do it with Harrison today....again."

"Maybe next time then...."

I started to walk away. Josh then put his hand on my shoulder. I turned around to look at him.

"Is everything okay Tex?" He asked.

"I'm fine, Josh."

"You sure? I mean...it's just that...if this is about the past summer then,..."

"Josh." I interrupted. "I'm...I'm fine."

"Okay." Josh said. "It's just....you seem different, that's all."

I looked down at the floor for a moment, then I looked back up.

"Maybe I am different." I said. "Maybe....maybe I'm just finally....growing up."

We both remained silent. Josh just looked lost. I decided to walk away.
