In a corner of the room another figure, this one more like a shadow than anything else, watched with horrid glowing red eyes and a smirk on its warped muzzle.

"Yes, never alone again. I will win someday my prey, and then you will be mine, mind, body, and soul."

The dark figure haunting the darkened corner of Minks bedroom turned its twisted face towards the rising sun and made an angry hiss before stepping back and disappearing thought what looked like a circle of pure darkness ringed with emerald fire. Evil laughter rang out across the room as the circle closed in on itself and ceased to exist.

Minks awoke with a start the laughter still ringing in her ears. Fearfully she looked around the room. Nothing but her various plushies stared back at her. Then her eyes drifted to the end of the bed. Laying there was a rose of such elegance that it canceled out the sudden fear that shot through her at the thought of some one watching her while she slept. She reached out and plucked it off the sheet, brining it of her eyes to look closely at it. It was not a normal rose, that was for sure, it gave off a slight glow and the colors contained in its petals, which where almost clear and sparkled like hundreds of diamonds, shifted from a deep crimson to a light pink as she turned it about, examining it.

Her alarm clock went off making her shriek and jump into the air. Clutching at her chest, her heart beating as if trying to fly away, she turned to look at the softly glowing numbers.

8:00AM

"Dimmit! I'm gona miss my ride!" she moaned.

Minks rushed into her closet and grabbed one of the black school uniforms from off a hanger. Walking back into the room she tossed the hanger and uniform onto the bed, before lifting the oversized t-shirt she wore as sleepwear over her head and clear of her body. She stopped and ran a paw over her chest. ‘They feel bigger and...sensitive...' she thought to herself letting her paw tips circle her nipples before moving them under her breasts and lifting them slightly.

The clocks glow caught her attention again and she let her breasts drop gently with a sigh, before putting on her pink lace bra and then slipping a pair of pink lace panties up snug between her legs and doing the clasp that secured the portion that went up around her tail. She hastily dressed in the uniform and ran down stairs passing her mother in the hall.

"Bye mom! I'll be back late tonight, there's a party at Kitt's place, love ya!" She called out behind her as she rounded the corner.

She swiped the money off the counter and snagged her bag off the hook on the wall before dashing out the front door and to the curb just as the bus was pulling away from the corner. Thankfully the driver saw here and hit the brakes. Minks took her customary seat at the back. She reached into her bag and brought out a pair of anthro-fit headphones. She leaned back up against the window of her seat and flipped thought her music till she found "Incantation" by Delirium.

She felt someone watching and looked up.

Across from her was Kenzer the ringtail, leader of the Six Banded Brigade, the towns local Gang. Minks blushed and returned his stare, then she noticed that he wasn't looking her in the eyes but more or less at her chest and then his gaze dropped even lower. Wondering what he was looking at Minks looked down and noticed that she forgot to fasten two of the clasps of her top and the lace of her bra could be seen along with a good portion of cleavage, and even worse yet, that when she had sat down the hem of her skirt had caught on her belt and pulled it up reviling a straight line of sight to her panties. Minks blushed harder and quickly clasped her top closed and snuged her skirt down over her legs effectively shielding herself from his gaze. When she looked up at Kenzer she noticed a bulge in his pants and he was looking at her with a goofy grin on his muzzle. Minks made a face and a turn around gesture with her paw. He shrugged at her before turning back in his seat and opening a magazine that made her blushed even harder as she realized it was a Furbidden Magazine, and she only knew that because one of her friends had shown her one once. She quickly flipped thought her music and tried to ignore Kenzer. Thankfully it was a quick ride and then they were at the school. Kenzer slipped the magazine into the back pocket of his baggy jeans and waited till Minks got her stuff and stood up before following behind her, his eyes never leaving her swaying hips.

As Minks was walking towards the arc of the main gate she heard a yelp and turned around to look back at what was going on. The Dean, a 34 year old Siberian Tiger with blond hair, had snagged Kenzer by his huge tail and was in the process of relieving him of his magazine. As Minks watched he pulled it out of Kenzers pocket and let go of his tail, before proceeding to wallop him on the bad the head with it. Kenzer decided he did not wish to part with it and made grab for the magazine. When he missed he puffed out his fur to make himself more threatening. The Dean snarled and bared his sharp teeth. At this Kenzer tucked his ears back and lowered his tail, his fur still puffed but now in humiliation, as he turned and sulked towards his friends who, by the looks of things had gathered to back their leader should he attack the Dean. Minks noticed the Dean look around to see if anyone was watching before he rolled the magazine so the cover could not be seen and slipped it into his own back pocket. He looked up, noticed Minks and blushed making a shush gesture with a paw pad and his lips before walking off towards his office. Minks chuckled as one of the boys Kenzer had approached doubled over laughing and got the wind knocked out of him by no more than three others. ‘Dumb boys...' she thought as she headed for her first class of the day.

Nothing exciting happened for most of the day, then at the end of the last class of the day she felt the eyes on her again, she turned in her seat and looked toward the back of the classroom, there was Kenzer and two of his closest friends. They where whispering to one another and Kenzer kept gesturing towards her, he stopped and cleared his throat when he caught her looking and the others straightened in their seats and tried to look uninterested. The bell rang signaling the end of the day. Minks rolled her eyes and gathered her stuff, before slipping her bag over her shoulder and heading for the door, Kenzer and his friends not far behind whispering to each other again.

Out in the hall Minks went looking for Kitten La'Skal. She found her near the entrance and pinned her into a corner so she couldn't get away.

"Hey Kitt, will you let me come to the party tonight? I know we haven't been exactly on speaking terms, but still..." Minks asked in a hushed tone looking into Kitty's eyes.

Kitt glared at her for a second before her expression softened and she answered.

"Oh damnit Minks, how the hell could I stay mad at you. Yes you..." She continued poking Minks in the chest, making her gasp. "...can come over, in fact why don't I drive ya there?"

"Mmmhmm, sounds good to me." Minks murred and gave Kitt a lick on the cheek before backing up and letting Kitt lead the way to her car. Out of the corner of her eye, Minks noticed Kenzer and company following at a discrete distance.

"Kenzer a friend of yours?" whispered Kitt not bothering to turn her head to look.

"Nope not even..." she explained the incident on the bus that morning.

"Oh...well careful, they might show up at the party..." she replied and quickened her pace to get out of the school and into the parking lot.

Minks just nodded and followed Kitt.

I approach the temple, peaceful, no worries...I open the main doors, I am assaulted by the moods of those within, tension, fear, anger, unbridled fury...I quickly weave a ward to protect myself and rush into the Main hall, I fear that the evil that lurks within the dreams that give us our life has breached this sacred place...I am mistaken...very mistaken, and confused...

__

Two of the Dream-Singers in the main hall seemed to be at odds. Skie quickly slipped in and stood near the entrance out of the way. The Temple Maidens and anyone within earshot of the commotion had gathered along the walls of the main hall to watch the arguing as it increased in tenacity. The shouting increased in volume until one of the Dream-Singers made a slashing motion and shouted an obscenity so vulgar Skie cringed when she heard it. As she watched Auroras blossomed around the two like dangerous flowers opening, one was silver laced with gold Arcane Deamon Runes, the other gold laced with silver Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Skie looked closer and was shocked to realize that she knew the two Dream-Singers, one was Countess Arashi, and the other was Countess Milena.

Static discharges filled the room. The Fae closest to the pair started to back away in fear. The Auroras surged and fought with one another twisting and swirling against each other almost as if they were alive. The electrical discharges increased two fold as the two started to chant. Those in the room with knowledge of the Arcane Arts threw up wards to shield themselves from the elemental forces about to be released, those who did not fled in terror.

It started with minor things being hurled at the one another, like taunts, but then turned deadly as it went from taunting to firestorms and lightning. The main doors blew open with an explosive blast next to Skie startling her.

In stormed Tylamis dressed in the winged ceremonial armor of the Royal Guard, her aurora, a brilliant blue flecked with white lightning, already flickering around her form in a whirling rage.

"Vania, Verona, what in the Goddess's name do you think you are doing?! This is Holy Ground! Stop this at---"

The sentence was cut off as Vania turned her gaze at the Captain of the Royal Guard. Skie turned to watch.

Tylamis stopped mid word her eyes bugging out and her muzzle hanging slightly open, there were several startled gasps at what happened next. Vania's eyes flashed a brilliant red, lighting up the room while draining away its color at the same time, Skie staggered as her wards drained to more than half as it took a glancing blow from the force of the spell that was unleashed and gravity seemed to change direction and increase.

Poor Tylamis didn't stand a chance since she was the focal point of the attack, even with her powerful wards up. She continued to stand there like a fool for a few seconds then all of a sudden the wall behind her exploded in an impact crater. She exhaled sharply as her eyes rolled back in her head and she fell to her knees, before falling forward face down on the floor with a loud thud. Skie rushed to her side checking for a pulse, she found one but it was weak. Skie felt Verona's temper skyrocket.

"How dare you attack a Royal Guardian!" She shrieked as she planted her feet and raised her paws making spell gestures so fast Skie couldn't keep track of them.

Skie looked at Verona's paws. Sutekh, Crane, Jackal, Serpent...no she couldn't be thinking of doing that, Skie thought...Jackal, Serpent, Scarab, Sun, Crane, Anubis...Ra?!

"Shit!!!" Skie yelped and dived behind the nearest column just as there was the sound of a gong being hit.

A blinding flash and a defining crack of thunder filled the hall along with a shockwave as a golden Sun Disk appeared next to Verona and a War Sphinx stepped thought it.

Behind the column Skie started her own spell gestures, if this continued she would need the back up. Amethyst, Fire Moon, Dawning Sun, Wyvern...all of a sudden Skie realized there was silence in the main hall. She broke off her incantation and peeked around the column. The air over the two combatants was wavering like a heat mirage. Verona's Sphinx leaped into the air going for Vania's throat, its armor plates clinking. The mirage cleared, in its place was a feminine figure shrouded in shifting light. The figure raised her arms and brought the pads of both paws down in a slapping motion.

Verona and Vania staggered as the gravity around them increased enough to send them to their knees, Verona's Sphinx let out a startled yelp, its armor shattered and it vanished mid leap, turning into a cloud of firefly like embers.

"Thou will stop this at once, or there will be consequences of the dire."

The voice rang out across the hall coming for nowhere and everywhere at the same time. The gravity returned to normal, Verona and Vania shakily stood and turned to the form hovering over their battle site. With a bow they departed, each though their own door. Skie stepped from around the column with a bow of her own, as did everyone still awake and present.

"Goddess, if I may have your blessings, I have things to attend to."

"Of course Skie." The voice replied.

Skie felt the touch on her head even though there was no one touching her.

"Keep her safe, for if harm should come to her, harm shall come to thee as well. But thou shall not make thy presence known, for that is just as dangerous."

"Yes Goddess."

Skie bowed again, and vanished like smoke on the wind.
