#12 of So Furry Presents: The Amazing Race

On the last leg of the Amazing Race, the remaining 7 teams traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Once there, they had to repeat a French phrase and then had to choose between two rides at a local amusement park. The prostitutes were the first ones at the checkpoint; but their penalty was so bad, they were cut from the race. 6 teams remain.

"Welcome back to Dixie Landin'." Toner says. "Yesterday's winners are the first ones up." Tommy & Regina step up and Tommy takes the clue.

"Speed Bump." He reads. "What the heck is a Speed Bump?"

"A Speed Bump," Toner explains, "is a small task at the starting point teams have to do before they can continue."

"Oh. Ok." Regina says. "Speed Bump: before you can start the next leg of the race, players must participate in the... Penny Stacking Challenge?" Teams will have to make 5 stacks of 10 pennies each. With this amount, they should be able to make an entire roll of pennies. Once they present their roll to Toner, he'll hand them their next clue.

"C'mon!" Tommy says. There's 6 separate tables at the side with 6 different bags. Once the teams get their clue, the quickly run over and spill the contents out of the bags. Each bag should have 50 pennies.

"Why would Toner throw this in the game?" Claudia asks.

"Because it's getting towards the end." Hans says. "He probably wants to challenge us in anyway he can."

"This'll be easy." Brent says. His strategy is to randomly grab a handful, get them all into a roll, count 10 pennies out and make that stack.

"Why can't we just stick these into the roll?" Seven asks.

"Because you have to make stacks first." Toner says. "Otherwise, you'll a penalty quickly." Seven rolls her eyes and groans.

"Calm down, Seven." Stuart says. "We're almost done anyways."

"This is easy." Syd says.

"I know." June says. She and Mabel already have their stacks and they start putting it in the roll. They close it up and they present it to Toner.

"Graduates take the lead." He says, handing them the next clue. Mabel takes it and reads it.

"Route Info: catch a flight to Chattanooga, Tennessee."

"Wow! I know that place!" June says. "Brent! Syd! Is it ok if we go on?!"

"Of course because we're done too." Brent gives Toner his roll and the humans receive the clue next.

"Let's go!" Syd says as they take off. Hans & Claudia finish next.

"There goes our lead." Tommy says. Regina finishes their roll and they get their clue. Angie & Jennifer and Seven & Stuart (also known as The Axis) quickly finish soon after and they run off to the airport.

***

The flight to Chattanooga takes about 3 hours. The plane lands around 10:28 am. All the teams run off to the clue box right outside the airport.

"Route Info: grab an Amazing Race can and head straight to Missionary Ridge Local." Hans reads. Ridge Local is a well known train station here in Chattanooga. Once there, the Racers will get a surprise from Toner.

"Let's do this!" Angie says. They all run off to the cabs. Like usual, The Axis share one and the human/graduate alliance also share one. The bakers and restaurant workers travel separately.

"You think we'll get to ride a train?" Brent asks.

"Probably." Syd says.

"And who knows? Maybe we'll win today."

"I don't think you guys have ever won a leg of the race yet." Mabel says.

"You're right. We haven't." Brent says. "But we're still here so we're still doing good."

"Good point." June says. She's the one who's driving, like she normally does.

"Alright guys," Angie says, "we may be in the final 6, but we're not home free yet."

"I know." Seven says. She's the one driving. "Hans & Claudia are still in the game somehow."

"I'll tell you how they're still in the game, they're fucking cheaters."

"You think?" Stuart asks. "They've been on everyone's radar since day 1."

"Exactly. Besides, they've already knocked one of us out of the race. If we don't do something about them, they're gonna cheat their way to a million dollars."

"Drive faster, Hans!" Claudia shouts.

"I am woman!" Hans says.

"Well we are in the top 6 and were not going home now!"

"I know but seriously!"

"Hans, let's face it, do you know how a million dollars will change our lives?" Hans thinks about it. They can finally quit their jobs and open their own bakery if they win the money. Slowly, he pushes down on the accelerator.

"So, what do you think should be our next strategy?" Tommy asks.

"Well, considering I have no idea what they next challenge will be, I don't know yet." Regina says.

"Me neither. But it's getting down to the wire. If we slip up, we could be knocked out of the race."

"I know. That's why we've gotta be careful when we do tasks."

***

The next clue box is right outside the train station. The bakers and The Axis once again fight for the lead but they both get there at the same time. Hans gets the clue first.

"Intersection," he reads, "3 super teams of 2 duos each will work together on the next task."

"Wait, what!" Angie says. She got her ticket next. Hans continues reading.

"Super Teams will be determined by the order in which you got your clue." Hans looks at Claudia and then the sorority sisters. The junkies get their clue and read it.

"Hold on!" Claudia says, "you mean... Us and..." She points at Angie & Jennifer. "You two have to... work together?!?!"

"I think I'm gonna be sick." Jennifer mutters.

"Right there with you."

"Well this sucks." Seven says. Tommy & Regina arrive next and then get their clue.

"Wait, who are we supposed to work with?" Tommy asks. Seven raises her paw halfway into the air while looking at the ground.

"Alright." Regina says. And thus, superteam #2 was born. Last, but not least, the humans and early graduates arrive last.

"Sweet! Intersection!" Brent says. Him and Syd hi5 and they do the same with June & Mabel.

"This is great." June says. "We're already working together."

"Yep." Brent says. Toner appears outside of the station and he walks up to the teams.

"Well guys, doing good." Toner says. "Last thing you have to do is ride the train. Last original pair to get back here is out of the race... for good!" The Racers then get on the train and get settled in. Superteam #1, which consists of Angie & Jennifer and Hans & Claudia, is towards the front. Superteam #2 (Seven & Stuart and Tommy & Regina) is in the middle car. Superteam #3 (Brent & Syd and June & Mabel) is at the very back of the train. Once the train starts moving, teams will have to do their best to get towards the front of the train fast because the ride only lasts an hour. Once the train gets back to the station, Toner will be waiting for them with the checkpoint.

"Well, I suggest we stay here." Angie says. "We're already towards the front, plus it's gonna be hell for the humans and graduates to make it up here."

"True." Claudia says. "But we're not in the front car. Our best chances of winning this leg of the race is to make it to the locomotive."

"I don't know, Claudia." Jen says.

"Listen, we hate each other."

"Don't even get me started on that." Angie says.

"But right now, if we want to win the leg of the race, we're gonna have to work together, even if it means we can't knock each other out today."

"She has a point, Ange." Jen says. Angie thinks for a moment. In these kind of games, your worst enemy can be your best chance of staying in the game. Even if it means she wants to rip her pink fur off of her, she knows she has to keep her game face on.

"Fine." Angie grumbles. "But just for this leg, after this, we go back to trying to hate each other."

"Couldn't agree more." Claudia says.

"Alright." Seven says to her new team, "we may be in the middle, but we have to catch up, fast."

"I agree." Tommy says. "If we aren't in first place, you just don't know what could happen. For all we know, one of us could be cut from the race entirely."

"Yes, but, I have a strategy that could get us right back on top." Seven says.

"Oh yeah? And what's that?" Regina asks. Seven opens the car door and the wind immediately blows in.

"We're gonna climb to the top and get to the front that way."

"What?!" Tommy yells.

"C'mon guys, it's fine!" Stuart says. "We've done this before!" Stuart gives Seven a boost and she grabs onto the roof of the car. She swings her leg up and lays stomach down on the roof of the car. This is awesome, she thinks.

"Alright, get me next!" Stuart jumps and Seven catches his paw. She lifts him up and looks down.

"Tommy! Regina! You have to get up here!" Seven yells.

"We could possibly die from that!" Tommy says.

"You'll be fine, we swear!" Stuart says. He lays down and reaches out a paw. "Jump up! We have to work together on this task! The clue told us to!"

"Ok!" Tommy jumps up and Stuart catches up. He helps him on his feet as Regina does the same and Seven catches her. The four of them carefully get on their feet.

"Alright! This ain't so bad!" Seven says. The wind was blowing all of them towards the back; but they all had their sights set on the front of the train.

"Relax guys!" Stuart says to his teammates. "It's only 10 cars to the front! If we take it slow we might have a shot!"

"You realize this plan is completely crazy!" Tommy says.

"We know! But we can do this! Just one car at a time!" Stuart gets a running start and jumps towards the next car. He lands on both feet and looks back. He opens his arms and says. "It's ok guys! I've got you!" Tommy & Regina look over at Seven.

"You guys will be fine!" She says. Tommy steps up to the ledge, takes a deep breath and jumps. Stuart catches him as promised and he sets him down. Regina jumps next and then Seven. They all make it to the next car.

"Only 9 left!" Seven says.

Meanwhile at the back of the train, the humans get a little anxious while the graduates are perfectly calm. "So..." Syd starts out. "Why aren't we going from car to car?"

"Yeah." Brent says. "The task says for us to get to the front of the train so we can make it to the checkpoint first." Mabel gets out a water bottle and drinks up. When she sets it down, she clears her throat.

"Guys," she starts out, "this whole task is a trick."

"What do you mean?" Syd asks.

"Well, I've done research on this train station." Mabel says. "My uncle worked here at one point in his life so I wanted to know more about it."

"Ok..." Brent says, impatient for the explanation.

"This train will move for about 30 minutes then it'll stop. The locomotive will then detach from the train and move to the back so it can pull it back to the station." Brent & Syd look at each other, then a light bulb goes off in their heads and they realize what'll happen.

The Racers have been tricked.

***

"Guys, why's the train slowing down?" Angie asks. She hears something going on above them, but isn't sure what it is.

"Not sure." Claudia says. The four of them noticed it a couple minutes ago, but the train does come to a complete stop after a while. They go to the windows and see what's going on.

"I can't see." Hans says. "I'll see what the problem is." He walks up to the door to the front and opens it. A minute ago, there was a big old locomotive that was leading the train. Now, there was nothing. "What the hell?!?! It's gone!!"

"What?!" Claudia pushes Hans out of the way and sees their predicament. "What the hell?!"

"Oh no!" Angie realizes. She points the other way. "The locomotive is going the other way."

"Hold on, but that means..." Jennifer starts out. The train starts to move again in the opposite direction. Hans closes the door.

"Shit! We're in last place!" Hans yells.

"We've gotta go back!" Angie says, turning around and going for the other door.

"Well," Seven says, "I didn't see this one coming." Her and Stuart and Tommy & Regina are still at the top of the train.

"We've gotta go back!" Tommy says. They start to run back the way they came. Along the way, they see Angie & Jennifer and Hans & Claudia right below them, trying to maintain a lead.

"Guys! There's the train station!" Brent looks out the window and points it out. Toner waits for the teams by the checkpoint rug.

"Be prepared to run!" June says. She waits by the door along with her team. At the same time, Claudia bursts through the doors of the same car and runs towards them.

"We were tricked!" She exclaims.

"We know." June says. "It's a good thing we didn't move."

"Yeah. You're right. Except..." Claudia pushes the two down and opens the door while the trains still slows down. Her and Hans jump out with Angie & Jennifer tumbling after. They jump onto the train platform and run back to the checkpoint to reach Toner. The sorority sisters catch up to the bakers and they step on the rug.

"Well," Toner says, "I never thought I'd say this throughout the entire race, but... Angie & Jennifer, Hans & Claudia, you both tied for first place."

"Whew!" Claudia says.

"At least we're still in this." Angie says.

"See? We can work together without trouble." Jennifer says.

"Hey!!" June yells angrily. Her and Mabel and Brent & Syd get out of the train car next. Brent looks up and sees the junkie and restaurant workers up on the roof of the car.

"Shit! Run guys!!!" Brent pushes his friends along as Tommy & Regina jump off the roof along with Seven & Stuart.

"Brent & Syd, you come on third." Toner says. "June & Mabel, close call: fourth place."

"That was close." Brent gets on his knees and heavily breaths. "We almost lost one of us."

"I know." June says. "We've come too far to lose now." The next team steps on the rug.

"Tommy & Regina, congrats: 5th place." Toner says.

"Awesome!" Regina says. "Hold on, if we're in fifth, then that means..."

"What? No. No!" Seven panics.

"That's right." Toner steps around the workers and gets in front of the junkies. "You two are in 6th place, meaning your last, meaning you two are out of the race." Seven grabs a fistful of Toner's shirt.

"You tricked us into going to the front." Seven growls.

"Yes I did. But, your actions, your consequences." Toner says. "Now go away and let go of me before I call the cops." Seven slowly releases Toner's shirt; but before she walks away, she punches Toner hard in the eye, knocking him to the ground.

"Let's go." Stuart says. Seven wraps an arm around Stuart's waist and they walk off. "Was that really necessary?"

"At least I feel better." Seven says. "But seriously, coming this close to the money and we lose and I just needed to punch something."

"Whatever. I think that we could've done better. I guess we should've known Toner would do something crazy to throw us off."

"I guess. Now, looking back on this whole thing, I guess we had fun."

"I know I did. Now let's go home and I'll get you that motorcycle you've been wanting."

"Really?" Seven asks. Stuart nods. "Oh. Thank you." She hugs him tight and kisses his cheek.
