#7 of The new dinosaur

I placed the merganser eggs carefully on a plate, curved to hold the egg without letting it roll or turn but with a flat bottom, covered in rubber so it slip and poke a small pin-hole in the shell. I than carefully reached in with a needle and turned-on the genes that got turned-off when dinosaurs changed into birds.

I thought alright, these guys already have teeth, so don't have to change anything. I than changed the tail, so it will have a longer, bony tail. I changed the wings into arms, made them shorter and added claws.

I patched the hole with a very small piece of duct tape. I started to giggle, I thought guess you could call it duck tape now! and burst out laughing. None of the geneticist questioned why I was laughing. I moved on to the next egg and did the same to that one.

I than moved the eggs into another incubator. I said "35 days to hatch... take away the week that they where with the seller... and the shipping... so in 21 days they will hatch!"

I walked up to the lion, I asked "What have you figured out?"

She stepped over to where they set there stuff-up and said "every-things all set-up! We just need a amber sample now!"

I walked to a safe and un-locked it, I opened it and said "I have a small collection"

The lion looked in the safe, her jaw dropped. "You call that a small collection?!" she asked

Giggling, I said "theirs only ten rows with 20 amber samples in each!" we both laughed. I said "take your pick and get to work... I'm going to set your rooms-up"

She pulled-out the bottom drawer, ran a finger over a row, stopping about half way trough she pulled-out a perfectly round, cloudy amber wit a mosquito not very deep in the amber. She said "this is a good one to start with... thanks Jake"

I nodded, pushed in the drawer, locked the safe and said "your welcome... uh?"

She sighed and said "I am Alexa... we should just get name-tags" I nodded. She called the others and they got to work.

...

Nearly a month has passed, me, Gena, the geneticist and four guests are watching the grey-green eggs, because they will hatch within the hour they will hatch.

Almost simultaneously they cracked from bottom to top, a spiderweb pattern formed across the eggs and they pushed out of the eggs. They are just like normal ducks... Except for the tail, arms and claws.

I wasn't expecting this, but they where walking on all four limbs, with there claws pointed in they walked on there knuckles with there elbows slightly bent, the bend facing towards there hips.

Me and Gena picked-up one each and put them in a containment incubator, they slowly walked around the incubator, I tossed some small pieces of fish in and they ate them and went to sleep.

After the guest leave, a geneticist walks-up to me. It was the badger, Ralph. He said "Sir, we have fully analized the genome of the blood that was in the mosquito that was in that amber"

"What is is" I asked, my heart beating a million times a minute.

Ralph walked over to there set-up. He said "it took some time to compare the genome to known genomes... But we have found that it is a Albertosaurus"
