Chapter 4: Twin blades physicalized

"So..... Where are we going?" Will asked in the car. He knew that they were leaving, but when his brother said that they needed to visit some people, he had no idea what they were going to do.

"Well, you need a weapon. Although my home is covered with protective spells, you'll still need to be able to fight back, and I think you've seen how they shrug off most blows. We also need some training materials for you." Arthur spoke as he made a turn, and came to a stop. Will looked around and saw..... Nothing. Except for a dark alleyway.

"Is this one of those 'the alleyway is actually a gateway to magic street or something?" Will asked as his brother went in the alleyway.

"Pretty much. For an old gimmick, it works all the time." Arthur grinned as he pressed on the wall. The dark wall rippled away, and a wide street became visible. It was similar to a medieval street market, filled with shops."

"How did you manage to keep this place hidden?" Will asked as he took a 360 degree look as he stepped in.

"Lots of magic, influence, and partial usage of Spheres." Arthur said as he walked. The two walked in silence until they came to a stop in front of a shop. The shop was similar to a fruit shop where all the wares was openly displayed, except that there were all sorts of weapons. Arthur went in, and Will followed closely.

"Hello? Anyone here?" Arthur questioned, and jumped back as a old werebeast appeared behind them. The werebeast took the form of a boar, with fur scorched everywhere.

"Well, what can I do for you folks? Want a sword? Or a spear?" The boar laughed as he sized the brothers up.

"We need a physicalization. My brother here just had his first transformation." Arthur explained as he took a look at the racks of weapons. "Also, I think we could use some daggers. Preferably a little longer than standard."

"Well then, this way!" the boar opened a small wooden door, which lead down to a dark corridor. As he walked out, he called back. "Careful. There have been several mistakes here and the stairs are quite high. Name's Jack, by the way. need weapons maintenance? Come to me!" everyone fell silent as they reached the bottom. The room was empty, except for a little blue pentagram circle at the floor.

"Well, did your brother explain the progress?" Jack asked as Will stared at the floor.

"What progress?" Will asked, his eyes still glued to the circle. He could feel raw power pulsing from it, which made him nervous and relaxed at the same time, if it was possible.

"Well, this circle makes your Physicalized Idea, a weapon that suits you best. It's made from the essence of your soul and power, and it's one of the strongest weapon you'll ever get." Jack explained as he sat down on an another circle that Will didn't see.

"How?" Will asked, curious. "And if that's the case, why would we need a weapon shop? Couldn't those Idea things handle it all?"

"The thing is, those P.I.s are stuck in single shape all the time, and only one can be made. As a result, they can't quite handle everything. For example, say your P.I. is a rifle. If you meet a swordsman who can counter your shots easily, than you'd find a blade better, wouldn't it? Besides, these things takes a lot of energy from you, and not all werebeasts can handle it. As a matter of fact, only 5 percent of werebeasts could handle those power." Jack explained. "Now, sit down. Then, try to reach deep within you. If you feel something, let it out, and focus it into a single ball of energy. That's how it's done."

Will concentrated, instinctively falling into the meditation pose. As he did so, he suddenly felt something, something that he never felt when he meditated. It felt like roaring waves, battering within him. He took a deep breath, and let it out. When he did so, he heard a roaring sound, and opened his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a blue swirl of energy, very much like a flame. He focused again, bringing his power into a single ball of energy, but to dismay, found it slipping away.

"I can't control it!" Will yelled in panic as the aura swirled dangerously. He tried again but was met with surprisingly powerful resistance. Suddenly, Will watched in surprise when the energies split into two, and condensed. When the light cleared, he found two blades hovering in the air, sheathed. Will instinctively reached out, gripping it and unsheathing one. The blade was about as long and thick as a katana, but was straight and double-edged. There were notches at the hilt, which would allow him to connect the blades at the hilt. On each of the blades, two Latin scripts were written. Although they seemed plain, Will knew that it was made of materials that would resist even the hottest fires and the strongest blows.

"Well, you scared me for a second! Really, don't say stuff like that!" Jack spoke with relief. "Well, what are their names?"

"Umm....." Will took a look at the scripts. "I think... Omnis Mundi, and Infinitas Imago?"

"All of the world, and Infinite Image? Interesting." Arthur spoke, staring at the blades.

"Well, time to check if you can use them well!" Jack laughed as he flicked a lever on the wall, ignoring the "What?" from the brothers. Suddenly, a part of a wall slid open, and a large wooden doll stepped out, holding two wooden blades. Immediately, the doll lounged at Will, who dove aside.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go get him!' Jack laughed.

"At least give me a few seconds of warning!" Will shouted as he dodged the swipes of the swords. Suddenly, Will felt the odd sensation again, and his fears fell away. As he fell into a stance, the doll lounged at him, two blades simultaneously swinging down. However, Will blocked the blades with one of the swords, and knocked the blades sideways. Before the doll could react, Will stabbed the doll with his remaining sword, and slashed downwards.

"Well, that was impressive! I haven't seen many werebeasts do that!" Jack laughed. "I've never seen that move, kid. How did you pull it off?"

"I don't know. I just had a feeling, and I followed it." Will spoke as he sheathed the blade, and realized that he didn't have a place to hide the place. "Wait. How do I hide my blades? I can't go out in the street with these!"

"That's simple. Just imagine them disappearing, and when you need them, just shout their names, or imagine them appearing." Arthur spoke. Within few minutes, Will easily got hold of the trick, and could pull the blades or make them disappear in a second.

"Well, here are the daggers you wanted. So long!" Jack shouted as the brothers left.

"Here, keep these. I know that you have a Idea, but in a heat of the battle, sometime you panic and forget how to summon it. And since some demons can prevent you from summoning your weapons, a werebeast has to have a blade handy." Arthur spoke as he handed the blades. They were very much like the tanto blades from Japan.

"But how do I hide it?" Will asked.

"Just tie it on your ankles. They have a spell that makes them invisible to most people, and they also have a spell that makes them undetectable to human technology."

The brothers spent the remainder of the day hunting up several grimoires that Arthur claimed were necessary.

"So, where now?" Will spoke as they drove away. It was now dark, and Will felt a little tired.

"We'll stay in a hotel for tonight. Tomorrow, we've got to go to your school."

"Why... oh." Will spoke. He knew that logically, it was impossible for him to go to school again. His brother's home was hours away, and the demons could take him any point. But he hadn't given it much thought, until the situation faced him.

"Sorry, Will. But you know that it's almost impossible with the distance. Besides, a werebeast is most noticeable at the beginning of their transformations. You have to stay home for a while." Arthur spoke kindly, looking at Will.

"I get it. But it just caught me off guard, that's all." Will spoke softly.

"Did you have many friends?" Arthur asked, staring out of the window.

"A couple. But I think they'll understand. Is it alright for me to see them if I get better at the whole stuff?" Will asked.

"Yeah, so don't worry. you could keep in touch with them later." Arthur spoke, stopping in front of a small hotel.

"Wait, where's Sara? I haven't seen her since we went to our parent's house." Will asked, looking around.

"Well, she went home. She figured that I can take care of you well enough." Arthur spoke, while opening the room doors.

The rooms were okay, although the furniture was rather shabby. However, Will was sleepy enough to overlook those faults, and fell to sleep as soon as he brushed his teeth.
