Chapter 2: Dance of guns

What!! Will looked stupidly at the mirror. His brain told him that it was impossible, but his eyes told him otherwise. He even moved around a bit to check.

William Murasama McKnight has seen a lot of weird things (the most oddest one being Mark dressing up as a girl), but this went beyond that, and went to plain fantasy-novel level.

Somehow, he kept calm, and avoided fainting or falling into a shock. Reading lots of fantasies did help Will a bit, not to mention his calm attitude in life.

Okay.... Calm down. Yes, you're a walking were-tiger of some sort, but fainting right now won't help. Will mentally scolded himself as he stood back up. "First things first. I've got to change back." Will spoke as he paced back and forth.

"The question is..... How do I change back?" Will mused, as he locked himself in the stall again. It was decidedly a tough question, but he thought that he might know a way.

"Maybe the whole 'imagine yourself shifting back' gimmick actually works..." Will thought as he focused on remembering how he was as a human. It wasn't hard, considering he was for one the last 15 years of his life. Slowly, his fur shrank back into his body, and he started to slowly morph back.

The nest questions are: What am I? What do I do now? Will thought as he walked down the hall. He couldn't exactly tell his parents: they would probably faint.

I wonder if there's anyone I can talk to.... Will thought as he walked, but stopped cold in his thoughts. Standing before him was a man that he never saw before, but the man struck out at him with a jagged knife, impossibly fast.

"What the...!" Will yelped as he leaped back. The blade missed his chest by a millimeter, ripping the front of his clothes. As he rolled back, he found himself as in his tiger form again. Suddenly, he noticed that everything looked.... slower.

The man lashed out, but Will leapt away easily, kicking the wall and using the momentum gained to strike the man on the head. But much to his surprise, the man did not fall, or even move.

"Heh, is that the best that you can do? Pathetic. But then, I guess I expected too much from a newbie..." The man laughed as he threw Will against the lockers.

Will cried out in pain, sliding down the wall. He managed to roll away as the man stomped, nearly smashing his face. As Will stood up, panting, he saw the man, or what was _pretending _ to be a man. The man's features twisted, with black, leathery wings growing, and horns sprouting up from his head. Simply, the "man" became a demon.

"Are... are you a demon?" Will stammered, dodging a second blow that blew a hole on the wall.

"What, did you think I was an angel or something? Of course I am a demon!" the demon sarcastically replied as he slashed. Suddenly, a dark red crescent appeared from the blade tip, following the course of the blade. Although Will managed to duck, the crescent still went through the wall, leaving a gash.

"Then what do you want with me!" Will shouted as he kicked the demon again. However, it still did no damage, and Will barely managed to leap away from the second strike.

"Well, us demons are powerful in nature, but in hell, it's a jungle. You kill, or be killed. And one way for a demon to become stronger is to absorb a soul, especially a magician's soul or a Spirit user's soul. And you werebeasts never seem to run out of that!" the demon replied, striking with his fists. This time, they connected, and Will crashed through the conveniently closed door, crashing on the desks.

The window..... Will thought, as he tried to sit up. But the demon raised his hand, and spoke words that Will didn't recognize. Instantly, a wall of stone rose, closing the window.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Were you trying to get out by that? Don't worry, I'll try to make it painless!" the demon let out a hysterical laugh as he approached.

Will tried to stand up, but the demon muttered something, and a red magic circle appeared on the floor. Will instantly collapsed, feeling as if something was crushing him.

The demon approached, extending his long and sharp nails. Will closed his eye, trying not to cry or scream.

"Arthur! a Sphere opening in the high school! I just sensed it!"

_ "But why.... Will! He has to be after him! Sara, you're closer. Do something!"_

_ _ The demon licked his lips, staring down at the white tiger. Even though he still was a couple feet away, the energy that he emanated was very noticeable.

A strong catch... Very nice. He chuckled as he approached. Suddenly, the wall made over the windows exploded, and a ray of light slammed into him.

Meanwhile, Will looked up, haring an explosion and a swear word that even drunkards couldn't say. When he looked up, he saw the demon impaled on the other wall, with his chest smoking. He tried to sit up, and this time, it worked.

H... How did that happen? Will thought as he frantically looked around, trying to find an exit that didn't have an demon mashed near it.

"Are you Will?" Will heard a woman's voice, and looked back. When he did, he saw a woman, or what sounded like a woman. Similar to Will, she was not human, being a dark-furred lioness with long hair(did they think of it as hair? Or do they call it fur? Will mused). On her arms was a large.... Cannon?

"Who are you? Are you one of the demons?" Will stood up, forcing his body into a defensive stance. However, he did know that he couldn't win, if she was his enemy.

"No. I'm a werebeast like you... Look out!" the lioness shouted, pushing Will away. He saw the demon leaping at the lioness, but before he could scream, the lioness pulled a gun out of the cannon, and shot the demon. As the bullet slammed into the demon, the demon was blasted through several layers of the wall, again.

"Come on! We don't have much time. They're coming, and we need to get out!" she yelled, and started running, pulling Will with her.

"How did you know my name?!" Will yelled as the lioness pulled him into a run. He did hurt a lot, but strangely, it felt a lot better.

"Arthur told me. When the Sphere opened, he told me to come. He felt that it might have something to do with you. My name's Sara, by the way." Sara explained, and suddenly stopped when she saw the demons on the football field.

"Will, I want you to duck, stay near me, and stay ducked. Could you do that?" Sara asked, looking calm.

"Sure... But what are you going to do?" Will asked nervously, as he crouched. She did have a large cannon(now that Will took a closer look at it, it seemed to resemble a sort of a large container more), but he didn't think that it could take care of dozens of demons scattered around them in a single go.

"You'll see. WL, deploy anti-demon dimension compressed cartridge machinegun 'Wild Dance', and activate reflector strafe mode." Sara replied calmly, setting the cannon(which shall be called WL now) on the ground. The firing end opened, and two guns slid out. The guns were almost the length of someone's arm. It had a jagged edge resembling fish bones, and a flatter other edge, with a handle and some straps to hold the gun close.

As the demons leapt toward the duo, Sara opened fire. When it did, Will's eyes flew open with amazement. The guns literally bombarded the demons, hitting them and disintegrating them in a matter of seconds. Sara swung the around in random directions, downing the demons approaching from the behind. Suddenly, Will saw the WL opening its sides, and unleash a powerful beam.

But it's firing at the sky! It won't hit anything! Will thought, and considered shouldering it and shooting himself. However, a hexagonal field of light winked into existence in the beam's course. When the beam slammed onto the field, it reflected, slamming into a demon and disintegrating it. Few minutes later, Sara stopped, throwing down the guns. Will looked around, and saw no demons.

"Well, this would take some money to fix up." Will replied as he looked around the field. It was torn up in several places, and the seats were peppered with bullet marks.

"We don't need to pay for it, because this place isn't our world." Sara spoke, walking away.

"What do you mean?" Will asked as he followed her.

"Simple. this is what we call a Sphere of Coexistence, or just a Sphere for short. This is a sort of a pocket world, which is almost identical to the real world except no one exists." Sara explained as she knelt and looked around in the grass.

"What are you doing?" Will asked. It looked as if she was looking for something, but he couldn't tell what.

"For an exit. A Sphere can be entered from anywhere as long as you have enough power to break through, but it can't be exited unless you use a lot of power to break through it, or go through the exit." Sara replied as she poked around the grass, and let out a hiss of triumph as her hand fell through it. "Now, let's go. Your brother wants to talk to you, and wants to see you."

"Arthur does?"Will asked, surprised. He haven't seen his brother for seven years, and never heard a word from him.

"Yep, now come on!" Sara yelled as she jumped into a patch of grass, sinking into it. Will took a deep breath, and leapt after her. As he went through, he had the curious sensation of being soaked, and was surrounded by gold lights as he sank lower.
