It's the morning after, so does she call him or not? Feel free to give me feedback via e-mail or AIM.

Chapter 2

Cassandra sat at her kitchen table, holding a white ceramic mug in her paws, a white bathrobe covering her body. She reached toward the cordless phone on the table but then put her paw back on her cup of coffee. She took a small sip of her coffee and sighed loudly. She liked her coffee black and strong; it helped her wake up in the morning. Sugar and cream were for weaklings. She looked at the piece of paper laid out on the table next to her phone. It was the same one that Marcus had given her last night. It was obvious that Marcus wanted her to call him, but she was hesitant. Maybe Marcus was just playing around with her, figuring that she'd be good for a one-night stand. Or maybe he wanted to just talk music and life in general. In any case, just leaving the phone sitting on the table wasn't answering any of Cassandra's questions.

"And it goes a little somethin' like this!" Marcus called out to the screen of the T.V. in his living room. He was playing Def Jam, Fight For New York on his Playstation 2, wearing only a dark green bathrobe as he sat on his couch. He lived by himself, but he still yelled out to his T.V. whenever he was doing well in a game, even if he was playing by himself. After his on screen character used his finishing move and obtained victory, he looked over to his phone, which was sitting on the coffee table in front of him. It was still silent, it had been all morning. He knew it was kind of a stupid plan, putting his phone number on an autograph before handing it to Cassandra. But he figured it was better than asking for her number outright. He looked at the phone, sighed, and went back playing his video game. After the next match in the game, he finished up the cup of coffee that was on the end table beside him, and got up to use the bathroom. As he was in the bathroom he heard the phone ring.

Cassandra held her phone up to her ear and tapped her foot nervously against the white tile of her kitchen floor. She had finally gotten up the courage to call Marcus, after about five cups of coffee. She was hoping that she would at least be able to say hello and see how he was doing, before she would have to make a mad dash for the bathroom.

Marcus quickly finished in the bathroom, washed his hands and ran for the living room. Nearly tripping over the bottom of his bathrobe he dove for the end table and grabbed the cordless phone. He hit the answer button and still breathing kind of heavily, he said in as cool a tone as possible, "Hello". "Hello Marcus? It's Cassandra, from the club last night." She said very quickly, her fingers tapping against the hardened plastic of her phone. "Oh good morning, how are you doing?" his breathing slowly returned to normal as he moved up to sit on his couch. Resting his left arm on the armrest of the sofa to keep himself relaxed as he talked. Cassandra on the other hand, was moving around the circular table, still wired from the coffee. "I'm running on five cups of black coffee because I was so nervous to call you. That was a crafty trick you pulled. Normally don't you think I'd give you my phone number in that kind of situation?" Cassandra continued to speak very fast, fitting all of her sentences into about ten seconds.

Marcus chuckled loudly. "Cassandra, this is the twenty first century. Things have changed since our parents were young." Cassandra still sounded very frantic as she spoke. The coffee was catching up with her and she needed to get to the bathroom badly. "Yeah Marcus. Listen, I really need to go, can I talk to you later?" He then remembered what she said earlier about drinking a lot of coffee before she called. "Sure, I'm off, so I'll be home all day. Nice talking to you." And with that he hung up the phone, and so did Cassandra, who made a mad dash for the bathroom.

After Cassandra finished in the bathroom, she decided to take a shower, get dressed and run some errands. She told Marcus that she would call later, so he probably wouldn't feel bad if she called later that night. Besides, she needed to get more milk and she wanted some beef stroganoff for dinner, and she thought that the Hamburger Helper stuff would be easier than making it from scratch. At the same time, Marcus was looking in his fridge, and saw that he needed some more apples and also that he had nothing much for dinner. So he figured he'd treat himself to his favorite food, Hamburger Helper beef stroganoff, so he showered, changed, and headed to the grocery store.

They both arrived at the grocery store about five minutes apart but then they both headed right for the dried pasta isle, and right for the Hamburger Helper. Marcus got there first and reached out for the box of beef stroganoff, relieved that he was getting the last one. But just then, a familiar hand reached out and grabbed the other side of the box. Marcus and Cassandra locked eyes and smiled, still holding onto the box as Cassandra spoke, "So, you like stroganoff too?" Marcus grinned and pulled the box toward him a bit, "Yes, it's my favorite, and I'm guessing since you won't let go, it's yours too." Cassandra pulled the box toward herself quickly; she had a surprisingly strong grip. Not wanting to test her strength, Marcus let go of the box and chuckled uneasily. "Well looks like I'll have to go to McDonald's tonight." Cassandra held up the index finger on her right paw and shook it back and forth. "I'll hear nothing of it, that stuff is bad for you. You're coming to my place for dinner." The way she talked, she sounded like a mother lightly scolding a child. "And what makes you think that I don't have anything else planned?" Marcus said as he raised an eyebrow at her, playing coy to make things a bit interesting, and to see what her true intentions are. "But Marcus, you told me this morning that you didn't have any plans." She was just as crafty and smart as any raccoon would be, and after several seconds of silence Marcus grinned and spoke softly. "Let's get some vegetables to go with that too."

Marcus followed her to the produce section, where Cassandra grabbed a bag of baby carrots and headed for the cash register. All the while, Marcus followed behind, his eyes settling on her hips and rear. They looked strong and firm, a look that he found appealing in a woman, though he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being teased a bit. After regaining his senses, he realized that Cassandra had paid for the groceries and was embarrassed about it. As he followed her out of the store, Marcus pulled out his wallet and held out a five-dollar bill to her. Cassandra held up her finger and shook it at him again. "This was my idea, so it is my treat. Now, get into your car and follow me. I live over at the Parkview Apartments." Marcus suddenly stood up straight in surprise "I live there too. What building do you live in?" Cassandra was surprised as well, this ferret guy she was falling for, lived close to her. "I live in building 203, apartment 4" "I live in that building too, and I'm in apartment 6." Marcus lived one floor above her, in the same building no less. Both of them did feel a bit awkward, they were starting to seriously like each other now, despite the fact that they live so close to each other. But both of them were somewhat shy when it came to making new friends. Also, since Marcus normally worked at night, and Cassandra worked during the day, they never saw each other in the stairwell of the building. Cassandra quickly broke the uncomfortable silence with a small joke "Well at least this way I don't have to worry about you driving home." They both chuckled and got into their cars and drove back to the Parkview Apartments complex.

They arrived at building 203 and Marcus, as a force of habit, started to go up to his room. Cassandra giggled and grabbed him by the belt loop of his pants, pulling her into her apartment. "Now why did you do that? People might get the wrong idea." Marcus said as he sat down on the couch in the living room. Cassandra went into the kitchen, and as she got ready to make dinner, she played with him a bit. "ohhhhh Marcus ohhhhh you're so big! Mmmm give it to me! Ohhhhh yes!" She giggled as she put the beef into the pan. Marcus just rolled her eyes at the act she put on as he watched her make dinner. "Someone has been watching too much of When Harry Met Sally." Cassandra put a cover over the pan to let it simmer and grabbed two bowls as she continued to talk. "Well, I didn't like the movie that much, but I really loved that scene." He nodded and looked around the room, noticing the many posters and pictures of martial artists, with a picture of her hanging over the television. She was standing next to an older kitsune and he had a bruise on his cheek. Marcus called her over and pointed to the picture. "Ex-boyfriend?" Cassandra immediately blushed and shook her head frantically "Oh no, nothing like that. You see he's the master of the dojo and I work as his assistant. My friend Molly took that picture after I finished a sparring match with him. I only got one hit on him, but it knocked him off the mats, so I won the sparring match." Marcus just nodded, as he didn't really understand martial arts at all. He was more into professional wrestling. "Well my apartment looks the same, but I have professional wrestlers all over. And I'm even training to become a wrestler someday." Cassandra grinned at what he said. She had only watched wrestling a few times when she still lived with her parents since her father was really into it. She was thinking about all the "interesting" looking holds that they used and what Marcus would be able to do if he had her locked into one.

Cassandra quickly shook the thought from her head and served the beef stroganoff into the bowls she took out earlier. She sat down on the couch and handed one to him, and they both quickly started eating. After about five minutes they both finished the bowls of food. Marcus set his bowl in his lap and rubbed his belly with his paw. "Mmmm that was good, you seem to make it much better than I do." "Glad you liked it Marcus." She grinned and licked her lips a bit, leaning over towards him and whispering softly. "Would you like dessert?" Marcus wasn't sure what she was doing exactly, but just went with it. "Sure thing, what do you have?" Cassandra took a deep breath and dove in, gently pressing her lips to his, her nose wiggling a bit as she did. Before he could ask her what she was doing, Marcus just closed his eyes and churred softly, opening his lips a bit for her. She moved her tongue into his mouth, moving it against his. He moved his tongue back against hers as his churrs continued to grow louder, his tail swishing against the couch excitedly, as was hers. After about two minutes of this, Cassandra slowly pulled away and winked at him. "How was dessert?" Marcus had a look of confusion and joy on his face. Dumbfounded at the fact that this woman he only met yesterday kissed him so passionately, he said the only thing that came to mind "Uhh it was good, but I was wondering if you had any chocolate ice cream."

"Silly weasel." Cassandra giggled and poked his nose before slowly getting up, teasingly groping his crotch as she rose to her feet. "Maybe if you're good enough, you can have some pie. Now if you if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get a shower and get to bed." She said as she walked towards the bathroom "Of course, I'll show myself out, thanks for having me over." Marcus said quickly, leaving her apartment and heading upstairs to his own. He was a bit confused, and slightly aroused over the events that had just transpired. It seems that this raccoon woman was sending him major hints, but didn't want him to act on them. He lay in his bed and stared up at the ceiling, grinning and sighing softly at the thought of her in the shower. He could have sworn that he heard some soft singing coming from under him. Cassandra sung softly as she cleaned herself, making sure to clean every inch of her body. She definitely got his attention and from the feeling of the bulge in his pants, she knew that for sure. But he kept himself under control despite the teasing motions and the passionate kiss. She knew what he liked now, and would exploit that until he couldn't hold back, he would beg her to make love. And she would let him; it was only a matter of time. She giggled and then turned off the water, wrapping a towel around her body before walking off into her bedroom.
