The sun was high in the sky and the heat was scorching as the dogs drove along the arid African Savannah. The dogs had already removed their shirts and their equipment to help cool themselves off, but the direct sunlight was making it hard to get comfortable. Keith was panting heavily and wiped his soaked forehead with his arm.

"Exile how much longer till we get to the marshlands?" Keith asked, opening his canteen and taking a deep gulp of water.

"Five more miles. According to the GPS should be hitting a nearby village on the way in and hopefully we can snag a couple of airboats." Exile replied, panting like crazy.

"Good. Blitz, Hunter start checking and reloading your weapons. We don't know what we're going to run into." Keith said.

"Right," they both replied.

Hunter took out his handgun and disassembled it, making sure the bore and various mechanics were in order. He checked his machine gun also; making sure it was in working order as well. Hunter looked over at Keith who was sighting his handgun and thought

Something major is going down here. What the hell is he hiding? What could be so bad that he has to hide it from everyone? What's more, from me?

Keith felt Hunter's eyes fall on him and looked in Hunter's direction; becoming locked in each other's gaze.

Sorry Hunter. I feel bad for lying to you, but I'm just protecting you.

"So Hunter, what kind of enemy are we dealing with here? I mean is Parvo someone to be reckoned with?" Keith asked, trying to divert the Hunter's attention elsewhere.

Hunter shook himself from the gaze and replied "Not really. He's really predictable, and the previous missions we had were all easily thwarted."

"Yea, and the only time we had any trouble were with those giant bugs he created, and those weren't even his creations." Blitz added, chuckling slightly.

"So you're saying Parvo can't come up with anything original and is easily defeated? Some villain," Keith laughed.

"You really have to watch the groomer though. She's a nasty piece of work and is extremely loyal to Parvo. She has some major experience in chemistry and genetics, and is very cunning. She almost killed Blitz and Colleen one time." Exile interjected. "

Ya. It was a close call. I hate that bitch." Blitz growled.

"So if we get rid of the groomer, Parvo can be taken down easily." Keith said.

"Yea, theoretically, but Parvo has gotten smarter over the years. I mean look at what were going through at this moment!" Hunter explained.

"Hmm you're right.....I guess...." Keith started.

"Comrades look!" Exile interrupted.

"What the...?" Hunter breathed.

Ahead was another small shanty town connected to the marsh, except this one was smoldering from what seemed to be a fire. The buildings and everything were charred, and the smell of burning flesh permeated the air.

"What the hell?" Keith said, shocked from the sight before him.

"An attack? Here? Who?" Hunter questioned, shaking his head.

"Parvo. I can smell the scent of those dogs here." Blitz said, sniffing the air.

"Why would Parvo attack an innocent village? What is he trying to do?" Exile asked, eyes widened.

"No idea. We won't know till we do some recon. Stop the truck and let's get going." Keith ordered.

The truck came to a skidding halt and the dogs hopped out, running along the dry, dusty earth towards the village.

"The flesh burning....it smells....human..." Blitz commented, smelling the air.

"Damn him!" Hunter cursed.

"Shh! Get on opposite sides of the entrance. Wait for my mark." Keith barked.

The entrance was no more than an arch way, and the Rovers waited for Keith's mark. Keith peeked inside and looked around, shaking his head at the horrible sight. All the buildings had char marks and blood stains could be seen in various places along the ground and walls. There were some charred, bleeding bodies of what seemed to be humans, but the disfigurement made it hard to tell otherwise. Tables were turned over, various items scattered everywhere, and parts of buildings broken off around the area. Keith noticed there was smoke rising deeper within the town, and he could smell the burning flesh more intense than ever.

They're burning the bodies. Just like the holocaust, Jesus!

Keith pulled back and it took all he had to keep himself from throwing up.

"Keith? What is it?" Hunter asked, extremely worried.

"It's horrible. Take a look." Keith said, putting his head down.

The rest of the dogs looked inside and their jaws dropped at the sight.

Blitz threw up and just hunched over.

Hunter and Exile just stared in disbelief at the horrible sight, and Exile looked down at the ground, fists clenched.

Exile shook in extreme anger and Hunter put his paw on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

"Damn you Parvo! Damn you to hell!" Exile half shouted, trying to hold back his tears.

"Exile...." Hunter said.

"AHHHHHHH!" Exile screamed, running into the town.

"Exile wait!" Keith shouted.

"Exile!" Hunter and Blitz shouted. Exile was too consumed by anger to pay attention to his comrades, and just kept down the street towards the smoke.

"Everyone go after him!" Keith ordered, pulling out his handgun.

The dogs ran in a full sprint into the city, unknowing there were being watched by an unknown assailant. On one of the roofs stood a 6 foot, muscular figure in a black battle suit. His black, metallic helmet had a mirrored lens and ears sticking out of it. He carried two sub machine guns on his hips and upholstered them, aiming at the dogs. He opened fire, and the dogs scrambled at the oncoming bullets.

"What the?!" Keith exclaimed, looking for the source of the gunfire. The figure lept from the roof onto the ground, landing right in front of the dogs.

"What the hell?" Hunter questioned, looking at the mysterious figure.

All the dogs were aiming their handguns at the figure, still quite stunned at what they were looking at. It was another one of those dogs, but this one was far better equipped for battle than the standard ones. The dog's figure was a just as big as Exile's, and his muscles rippled through the body suit. He breathed heavily, and the Rover's could feel intense strength emanating off of him. However he was controlling his movements and not behaving erratically like the other dogs.

"This one's not like the others." Blitz commented.

"One of Parvo's experiments?" Hunter questioned.

"Looks like it. I can sense the virus off of him. Here he comes!" Keith exclaimed.

The dog rushed at Keith and attempted to tackle him to the ground, but Keith leapt over him and fire two shots at the creature. The enemy dog rolled at the speed of light and dodged the bullets, back flipping to create space between his adversaries.

"Who are you?! What is Parvo planning?!" Hunter demanded, pointing his gun at the black suited dog.

The dog said nothing and rushed at Hunter, grabbing his neck and squeezing the life out of him. Hunter's throat was being crushed by the dog's intense strength, and he began hacking for air. Hunter then jumped on the dog's shoulders and flipped him on his side, breaking the behemoth's grip. The dog stood back up immediately and pulled out a machine gun, ready to fire. Hunter rolled backwards and stood up, attempting to maneuver out of the dog's line of fire. Hunter pointed his gun and fired, knocking the gun out of the assailant's hand. Blitz then grabbed the dog from behind and restrained him, making sure he didn't get free. The dog struggled a little, until Keith and Hunter pointed their guns at his face.

"Now where were...." Hunter started.

AROOOOO!

"Exile! He's in trouble!" Blitz proclaimed.

Blitz's grip loosened for a second, and the dog took the opportunity to get free. He elbowed Blitz in the gut and sent him spinning along the ground. He then spin kicked Hunter and threw Keith to the ground, making them a little dizzy.

"*hack* Man this guy can fight! Exile's in trouble though, Hunter go on ahead and help! Exile might need some healing and your powers might stem the tide if the crowd gets big. Go!" Keith ordered.

"But..." Hunter began.

"GO! That's an order!" Keith barked, picking himself up.

Hunter nodded and ran on ahead, leaving Blitz and Keith alone with the unknown assassin.

"We can take him Blitz. Save your ammo and stick to melee. This guy's speed will only waste it." Keith said, holstering his gun.

"Okay. Then I'll use these instead." Blitz replied, unsheathing his razor sharp claws.

Keith took out his knife and nodded at Blitz, and then the fight began. Blitz rushed at the black clad dog with great speed and began slashing with his claws, managing to get one swipe in. The rip in the armor showed that the dog had soft, sleek, thick white fur, indicating it was probably a husky breed. The dog winced at the pain and rushed Blitz back, knocking him over. Keith let out a loud cry and rushed at the dog slashing violently, the dog ducking and weaving to avoid Keith's slashes.

"Come on! That all you got?!" Keith proclaimed, still slashing like crazy.

The dog then grabbed Keith's wrist and twisted it, causing Keith to cry out in pain and his knife to drop to the ground. The dog was about flip Keith over, but Keith counterattacked grabbing by grabbing the dogs left arm and pinned him to the ground. Blitz ran over to assist, but Keith was thrown off and collided into Blitz, causing them to roll along the dusty earth.

"Man! What is this dude?!" Blitz said, pulling himself up.

"I don't know but were wasting time." Keith replied, jumping back up.

"HA! Take this!" Keith shouted, tossing a couple of fire balls at the enemy dog.

The unknown assailant proceeded to deflect Keith's fire with a couple off kicks, brushing off his suit in the process.

"That's it! No one makes fun of me!" Keith proclaimed.

"Come on Blitz! One final rush!"

Blitz and Keith ran at the dog with all they had, and began slashing and kicking like crazy. Keith slashed at the dogs throat and he pulled back, upper cutting Keith. Keith stumbled backward, trying to regain his composure. Blitz got behind the dog and restrained him once again, only to be flipped over. Keith then pulled out his hand gun and fired at the dogs head, causing a brilliant shatter of metal and glass to ensue. The dog bent on one knee and breathed hard, clutching his face.

"Good work Keith!" Blitz praised, joining him in pointing at the dog.

"All right! Who are you?! What is Parvo planning to do?!" Keith demanded stepping forward with his gun raised.

The dog looked up and both Rovers were shocked at what they saw. The right side of the helmet was blown off and it revealed the dog had piercing red eyes and its fur was really different. Its maul was white but had a black line separating the light blue fur from it. It looked almost.....alien.

"What in the hell?" Keith breathed.

An alien? Where did Parvo....? Blitz thought.

The dog said nothing more and jumped back onto the roof, running away from the two Rovers.

"What was that that thing?" Keith asked.

"I have no idea. But he looked....." Blitz began.

"KEITH! GET OVER HERE!" Hunter shouted over the radio.

"Hunter?!" Keith panicked. "Hurry to where the smoke is coming from! Exile's hurt and I can't focus to heal him properly! They just keep coming!" Hunter shouted into the mic.

"Come on Blitz!" Keith ordered, running toward the smoke.

"Right!"

They both ran as fast as they could down the street and around the corner, praying they would reach Exile and Hunter in time.

"Ice needles!" Hunter shouted, impaling a group of dogs with the spray of ice that emanated from his paw.

Exile lay on his back in intense pain behind Hunter and was whimpering slightly. He had been impaled with a poisonous spear that Hunter managed to pull out of his chest but the poison was spreading throughout his body. His arm was also broken, and he was completely useless in the fight. Hunter had attempted to heal Exile, but was interrupted by on oncoming wave of those dogs. They were trapped in rounded gated area made out of bamboo leading to the air boat docks, but all the exits were sealed and blocked. Among the area were hundreds of human corpses in burning piles from where the dogs had killed the population.

"Hang on Exile! Blitz and Keith are almost here!" Hunter shouted, reloading his machine gun.

Hunter couldn't pivot and dodge the oncoming attacks from the resident dogs due to fact he had to cover Exile, and it was becoming incredibly tight in the area. Hunter's energy was wearing thin, and soon he wouldn't be able to use any of his powers.

"Comrade...I'm feeling....uh...." Exile said, fainting.

"Exile no!" Hunter proclaimed. Dammit! Hurry Keith! Hunter thought.

"Plasma Cyclone!" Keith shouted jumping over the fence. A huge ball of lightning appeared in the center of the area, lightening strikes consuming the dogs in the area. Blitz and Keith ran over to where Hunter and Exile were, Keith leaning over Exile.

"Oh thank god! Exile's in bad shape. He was hit by a poisonous spear and his arm is broken. I couldn't heal him because we were fucking ambushed!" Hunter shouted, still firing his gun.

"Blitz help out Hunter. I got Exile." Keith said, readying his powers.

Blitz's sad face turned to anger and he began firing his handgun, making perfect head shots every time.

"Cure Condition," Keith muttered, waving his hand over Exile. A white light emanated over Exile, removing the poison from his body.

"Healing," he added, putting both hands on Exile's chest.

Exile's energy was restored and his arm unbroken, however he was still unconscious.

"How is he?" Blitz asked, reloading his gun.

"He's fine, just unconscious. We have to get rid of these dogs!" Keith replied, joining the fight.

"Leave it to me! I just got my second wind." Hunter interjected

"Tornado! Wind Blade!" A huge whirlwind appeared and picked up a lot of the dogs, lifting them into the air. Then some white circular blades appeared and chopped them in midair, causing them to disintegrate immediately. Afterward there was still some dogs left, but were picked off by the Rover's fire.

"Good work everyone. Now we just have to wait for Exile to...." Keith began.

"Ughhh...what happened?" Exile groaned, opening his eyes.

"You ran off in a fury and got the hell beat out of you that's what!" Blitz scolded, bending down on one knee.

"Eh...sorry about that. I guess I sort of lost it. I have strong sense of justice is all..." Exile said, rubbing his head.

"Just make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm not going to lose you...." Blitz sighed, holding back tears.

Exile lifted Blitz's chin with his paw and just smiled, and then the two embraced each other.

Hunter and Keith just smiled at each other, loving the tender moment before them.

Hunter broke the silence by asking "So what about that creature we encountered? Did you two kill it?" Hunter asked.

"No he got away. We couldn't finish him He was one tough bastard." Keith replied, shaking his head.

"Who was he?" Hunter asked. "I don't know, but he looked...alien...." Keith trailed off.

Exile's ears perked up and pulled away from Blitz.

"Alien?" he asked "What did he look like?" Blitz and Keith both explained what they saw, Exile's eyes getting wider by the second.

"I think I know who it is. His name is Doggie Kruger and he was the leader of the Japan Space Rovers Division years ago. He disappeared after that black hole incident with Parvo, and was presumed dead." Exile explained.

"He was also.......an old flame. We were in love after I went on a few missions with him, and we were the best of friends." Exile said with a little shame.

Everyone was a little taken aback by this, especially Blitz. Blitz wasn't angry with Exile because he had another love before him, he rather felt bad for him because he had kept such a big secret to himself.

"You loved him? You were partners?" Blitz asked in an even tone.

"Yes, but that was a long time ago. I have you now. We still have to save him though. Doggie is incredibly powerful and since he is in Parvo's control, who knows what he could do with him." Exile explained, taking Blitz's paw.

"How come you never told us about this?" Hunter asked.

"I never thought it was important to tell you all. I had no idea Doggie would resurface again, especially now of all times." Exile replied, shaking his head.

"I bet Doggie is being controlled the way Blitz was back at the facility. If we can remove that device next time we meet, he should return to normal. For now, we need to keep pressing forward." Keith urged, pointing towards the airboat docks.

"Right!" all the Rovers said in unison, picking themselves up.

As the Rovers made their way through the area, they all were sickened and saddened by all the piles of bodies throughout the area. Some even had.....bite marks from where it looked like they were...eaten.

"This is awful....." Blitz commented, shaking his head.

"What is Parvo trying to accomplish?" Hunter asked, coming a little closer to Keith.

"From the looks of it, genocide." Keith guessed, placing his hand on Hunter's shoulder.

"For what reason?" Exile asked.

"I haven't the slightest clue." Keith replied. I'm more worried about the Twisted at this point. Parvo is just a minor player in all of this. I have a feeling Parvo won't even come close to his goal. Keith thought.

The Rovers pushed forward in silence and eventually came to the gate leading to the docks. Hunter opened it revealing two airboats at the end of the dock extending into a grassy, muggy swampland.

"Let's get going. You know what the pairs are." Keith said, hopping on the right airboat.

Exile and Keith would drive, while Hunter and Blitz would sit on the front to pick off any oncoming enemies. Keith and Exile revved up the ignition and took off into the swamp slowly, making sure not to hit any trees or brush.

"You brought the GPS right Exile?" Keith radioed.

"Yeah, we go straight for about 2 miles and take a right at a brush intersection. After that....the directions get cut off." Exile replied with a little distraught.

"Great another trap...." Keith sighed, putting his face into his paws.

"Hey no worries! We've gotten through tougher stuff!" Hunter said, trying to act all cheery.

"Hunter's right, we'll be fine." Blitz radioed, giving a thumbs up.

"Yeah.....I guess you're right." Keith replied, smiling slightly.

The airboats zoomed through the swamp without any hesitation, making water mist through the air onto the dogs.

Exile opened his maul slightly and enjoyed the breeze, panting lightly.

Blitz turned around and laughed at the sight, saying "You sure are enjoying yourself!"

"Heh, I'm a still half dog you know! This is heaven!" Exile laughed.

"Yeah well....WOAH!" Blitz yelped.

A huge wooden spike came out from under the water and Exile swerved just in time to miss it.

Blitz fell back into the boat on his back, groaning at the slight pain. Hunter and Keith stopped immediately and shouted "Exile! Blitz! You okay!?"

"Yeah....oh my...." Exile started.

All the Rovers looked at the huge wooden spike and saw three bodies stacked on top of each other, all sickened by the sight.

"My god! What the hell...." Hunter breathed.

FOOP! FOOM!

Suddenly huge wooden spikes came up all around the area , barely missing the air boats.

"RUN!" Keith ordered.

The air boats revved up and the sped along the swamp, avoiding the spikes that were coming up. Keith and Exile swerved left and right, Hunter and Blitz holding on for dear life. The spikes were coming closer and closer to the dogs and the air boats weren't the most pivotal vehicles on earth.

Keith saw the intersection where they would turn off, and he managed to radio "Turn where?!"

"RIGHT!" Exile screamed.

The air boats swerved to the right and the last wave of spikes shut the path, leaving the Rovers to push forward. Keith was breathing heavily and stopped the airboat, Exile doing the same.

"Man.....what the fuck was that?!" Blitz proclaimed, trying to stand up.

"Looks like we fell into another trap...." Hunter said, rubbing his head.

"Looks like we have to push forward...." Exile sighed, pointing to the barred path.

"Yeah...." Keith breathed, standing back up.

The dogs rode to the end of the path without interruption, and stopped along a muddy shore. The was a long, wooden gate extending along the perimeter of the shore, guarding some sort of village. The Rovers hopped off the boat and headed to the main gate, unknowing that there greatest challenge yet lay behind these doors.
