Thunder sighed as he left the school grounds, finally free of one more stressful day of learning. It's not like he particularly disliked going to class, but today was a different day. Yes, today was Thunder's birthday, a day you're told is meant to celebrate and glorify you, yet here he was, going through his daily routine without any special conditions from the date.

But that's not to say he didn't want any special condition today. This was the reason why he had chosen to wear a nice purple shirt that tightly covered his massive muscles which, mixed with the orange highlights autumn smeared all over his hair, gave the dragon a quite distinctive and dapper look, appropriate for the occasion. For that same reason he was going to his favorite card shop, ready to treat himself to a relaxing day of trading and gaming, and who knew, maybe a little gift from local friends. Despite being just an idea it made him feel eager to get there.

Rather ironically, a couple minutes later he did get there and wished he could turn around already. Right in front of the shop stood a pack of three wolves chatting loudly, two of them seemingly talking up the one that was clearly their leader. Thunder had never talked with the guy, but he had seen him play; obnoxious, annoying and too smug for his own sake. You probably find guys like him in every card shop in the world, but what made this one particularly jarring for Thunder was the fact he was looking at him in person.

"Hey! You, the big dragon dude," he yelled at Thunder when the dragon was trying his best to slip by unnoticed and get inside, but of course his own tree-like girth would make him fail miserably. As much as he loved his big frame it also had its downs. "You're Thunder Dramon, right? I think I heard it was your birthday today?"

"Yes...?" he replied already weirded out by the guy. Given that it was literally their first conversation ever and that he really had no interest on befriending the guy, he figured there was no way he could feel more awkward.

"Aha! That's awesome man! I'm Guy Randy Om," Thunder tried his best not to snicker at the fact that this random guy was literally called 'Random Guy', "and I'd like to issue you a challenge for a Duel. Consider the chance of Dueling me a rather generous gift from me, big guy"

"Oh my God, are you telling me the big shot wannabe is not an anime-only thing in this game?" Thunder thought and almost blurted, but his common sense gained ground in the end and with a polite gesture of the hand he replied. "No thanks, I'm good with just going in"

"What? Is that it? A huge behemoth like you is gonna wuss out?" Random said and his two goons snickered behind him. Thunder stopped in his tracks in front of the open door, knowing by the sudden silence that everyone inside had heard, and took a step back to better glare in the wolf's direction. While he wasn't a particularly temperamental person, anyone would be pissed from being insulted by a stranger in public, but once again he let his better judgment guide his actions, as hard as it was to contain.

"Alright," he said as he swung his backpack around and took his customized Duel Disk out and attached it to his wrist. "One game won't hurt, right?"

"Right!" the random wolf said at the time he snapped his fingers for one of his goons to actually strap his Disk on. Thunder couldn't keep from rolling his eyes at it. "It will be a nice way to test all these new cards I bought! The best of the best only, am I right?" he finished with a wink and Thunder added 'possibly a creeper' to his list of reasons to not like the guy.

Disks set, Thunder noticed the small crowd that had formed on the other side of the window. A show wasn't his idea of a typical birthday, but he had already pressed too many buttons to step back. No, he looked forward, at the wolf with a smug smirk on his snout, and decided to beat it out of him. Both players Life Points were set to 4000 and then...

"DUEL!"

"I'll be nice and let the birthday boy had the first turn. How's that?" Random said, getting only an irritated twitch from Thunder.

"Yeah, thanks. I Summon Eden's Garden - Boar ," a large brown boar appeared on Thunder's field, covered in a wooden green armor, and let out a shattering war cry, already aiming for a hit (ATK: 1600, Lv: 4). "I set 2 cards. Turn End. During the End Phase, Boar's effect activates, increasing its attack points by 100," with Thunder's explanations the wooden armor on the beast started cracking, breaking off his forearms and legs as the muscles started growing to monstrous proportions (1600 > 1700).

"So your strategy is to go for greater attack? Well, that's sorely basic, but effective," Thunder frowned more at the guy's overacted nastiness than his crude remarks. "Draw! When my opponent controls a Monster and I don't, I can Special Summon Random Creeper from my hand!" a flash and on the wolf's field stood a mechanical skeleton with long white blades for arms, light reflecting on the smooth surface of its face (ATK: 2200, Lv: 5).

"Shit! He just Summoned himself," Thunder thought, nervously eyeing the Monster in front of him. With those stats an attack was inevitable.

"Yes, yes, thank you my dear fans," Random responded to the applause from his goons behind him, getting obnoxious looks from the people inside the shop. "And now, for my next act, Random Creeper! Attack Thunder's Boar!" and following his orders, the mechanical Creeper lunged at the dragon's defenseless Monster with clear killing intent.

"I activate Mandrake Pollen. This card allows me to target a Plant-type Monster on my side of the Field and increase its attack points by 300 until the end of the turn," a cloud of yellow pollen spread from Thunder's active Trap and slowly seeped inside the cracks of his Boar's armor. Almost immediately the wood around the beast's shoulders and torso broke off as its muscles started growing further, bulging to massive proportions, veins popping out along the way (1700 > 2000).

"Nice try, but what can you do with 300 extra points?" Random proclaimed victoriously as his Creeper's blades clashed against the boar's bare fists. Just as he had predicted Thunder's Life Points lowered (4000 > 3800) and one of the Monsters exploded in shining particles; what he couldn't predict was that the exploding Monster was his own. "Hey, what happened!? Where's my Creeper!?"

"That would be Boar's effect. When its attack is 2000 points or higher, it can't be destroyed by battle, and monsters that battle it are destroyed after damage calculation," and with that explanation the enormous boar huffed steam in anger, its muscles involuntarily twitching and flexing.

"Oh...! Not bad. I'm glad to see you can live up to the challenge, big dude. Random Creeper's effect activates! When Random Creeper is destroyed by my opponent's card, I can Special Summon another Random Creeper from my Deck!" a copy of Random's first monster appeared on the same spot that the previous one had just emptied, branding its blades menacingly (ATK: 2200, Lv: 5). " Random Creeper , attack Boar!"

"What?" Thunder was taken aback as the opponent Monster jumped against his, repeating the same scene from just a minute ago. Even when his life lowered he couldn't erase the expression of confusion from his face (3800 > 3600). "What is he doing?" he thought as the second Creeper vanished and a third one took its place. "He knows his Monsters will just be destroyed," the third Creeper lunged as well, only meeting its end at the hands of Boar like its previous versions (3600 > 3400), but nothing took its place this time. "Is he just trying to chip away my life like this?"

"You must be confused. Here, let me give you your answer. I Banish three Monsters with the same name from my Graveyard," the three Creepers jumped from within black portals on the battlefield, only to instantly disappear into a white-colored vortex that formed behind Random, "to Special Summon Random Sleeper!" and from that white vortex a large dragon-like gray larva flew out, a pair of skeletal wings flapping to mark its entrance (ATK: 2500, Lv: 7).

Everyone inside the store gasped and sighed in admiration, surprise and some even in fear. Thunder tried his best to remain calm, but just like the massively built beast on his side, his own muscles tensed in the presence of the beast. "It only has 2500 attack; it's not that much. So where is this uneasiness coming from?"

"I set a card. Turn End. During the End Phase, the effect of your Mandrake Pollen ends, reducing your Boar's attack points back to normal"

"However Boar's effect still goes, increasing its attack by 100," and like Thunder said his Monster bulged further, his armor staying complete around his chest but with every other thick muscle pretty much still exposed. Despite this, the Monster's attack lowered from its previous value (2000 > 1800).

"Draw. I Summon Eden's Garden - Tiger ," next to the boar jumped a large tiger in armor much like the one its partner had slowly shed before him. While not as big as the other monster, the feline flexed its own strong arms in expectance of the same level of growth (ATK: 1100, Lv: 3). "Then I activate the Field Spell Growing Forest!"

Just like in the armor his Monsters wore, cracks started forming under Thunder's feet, spreading through the ground until they covered the entire field and countless tree trunks sprung up from them, joined by thick green foliage sprouting from the branches and between the roots. Moss covered the nearby buildings, but cleverly left the shop's windows untouched for the audience to still see the game unfold. Long vines shot from the trees and pierced the skin on both of Thunder's monsters, making their veins pop and their muscles bulge out even further; his Boar's chest armor finally gave in, leaving him with only a thin leafy thong, while his tiger's arms ditched their own protection in exchange for a greater size as well.

" Growing Forest increases the attack of every Plant-type Monster on my side of the Field by 100 for every other Plant-type Monster I control, meaning my Monsters gain 100 points each (1800 > 1900, 11100 > 1600). Then I activate the Continuous Spell Heavenly Fertilizer. This card can only be activated while I control two or more Plant-type Monsters, but it'll increase their attack by 400 points," and as he said this the creatures on his field both let out their own primal roars and started expanding further, the armor completely shedding off Tiger's skin, far too strained by the sheer mass of his muscular frame. Both Monsters hulked out to the point that they had to use their arms to support their gained weight, and it was almost unbelievable they could still move under the thickness of their arms and pecs (1900 > 2300, 1200 > 1600).

"Dude, do you have a growth fetish or something?" Random asked, making the audience inside the shop stare at Thunder in expectancy. The dragon wisely didn't answer, but he couldn't deny the stiffness that had consistently formed inside his pants. He took a quick glance at the massive boar and tiger on the field, their naked, thick bodies bulging and straining the thin vine underwear, and his hardening length twitched between his legs. A blush threatened to creep up his cheeks, so he continued with his turn to hide it.

"I activate Tiger's effect! Once while it's face-up, when it has 1500 or more attack points, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Eden's Garden Monster from my Deck. I Special Summon Eden's Garden - Crow!" from within the forest's depths came flapping a black-feathered bird left floating above Thunder's other behemoths; while nowhere near as large as the others, it still wore the same armor and let out a proud caw to signal its readiness (ATK: 1500, Lv: 3).

With a new Monster's presence, the forest around them grew restless and more vines and roots shot against Thunder's Monsters, increasing their mass more and more. Crow's growth was the most impressive, immediately breaking apart the wooden armor that loudly fell on the ground. The three massive giants stood on the field, each one flexing, their enormous muscles twitching, making Thunder inconspicuously bite his lower lip (2300 > 2400, 1600 > 1700, 1500 > 2100).

"D-During the turn Heavenly Fertilizer is activated, Plant-type monsters cannot attack," Thunder stammered, taking a deep breath to rein in his impulse to ditch the game and jump at his Monsters chests. "I activate Crow's effect. Once while it's face-up, when it has 2000 or more attack, I can add a Spell or Trap card from my Deck to my hand," a card slid from his Deck and he looked at it for just a moment before inserting it into his Disk. "I set a card. Turn End. During my End Phase, all my Eden's Garden monsters gain 100 attack points," he said and his monsters increased in size yet again, their heavy frames already brushing against each other in the cramped space between the trees (2400 > 2500, 1700 > 1800, 2100 > 2200).

Everyone inside the shop stared intently at Thunder's Monsters taking up most of the battlefield space with their gargantuan mass, but despite their impressive size most of them still paled against the Random Sleeper on his opponent's field, creating an air of tension. Thunder, however, was a step forward.

"During his turn, he'll try and attack my weak Tiger with his Random Sleeper to inflict more damage. When he does, I'll activate the Trap I searched, Pheromone Bait , and change the attack target to Boar. Since they have the same attack, Boar's effect will keep it safe without damaging my Life Points and then, no matter what he Summons, I will still destroy it with Boar and leave his Field open," he thought confidently, but gave one final look to the second card on his Disk. "I still have that just in case though"

"Draw," Random said as he took the top card of his Deck and gave a last scrutinizing look to his hand. A wicked smile drew on his face. "I Tribute my Random Sleeper -

"What?"

-and Tribute Summon Random Giver!" the draconic beast disappeared in a flash of light and what took its place was a small, weasel-like creature with little sickles in place of front paws, giving Thunder a wicked grin (ATK: 600, Lv: 6). "And now I activate Random Sleeper's effect! When Sleeper is sent from the Field to the Graveyard I can Special Summon three Banished monsters with the same name, so come back my three Random Creepers!" the same white vortex opened behind Random again, and from it jumped the three blade-wielding Creepers, already glaring up at Thunder's Monsters (ATK: 2200, Lv: 5 x3).

"Crap! He'll go against my Tiger with those! I'll have to use that," Thunder thought, his finger already hovering over his Disk's buttons.

" Random Creeper! Attack Eden Garden's - Boar!" Random declared, yet surprising Thunder one more time. The bladed construct charged against the pile of muscle that was Boar and crashed into shining particles immediately. Unlike the beginning of the Duel however, Thunder's Life remained the same. " Random Giver's effect! While its face-up on my side of the Field, all battle damage I would receive is cancelled, and my Life is increased by the same amount instead!" the weasel rested upon Random's neck and nuzzled against it, making his Life grow (4000 > 4300).

"That's your strategy? A little bit extra Life?" Thunder tried to taunt him, hoping to disrupt whatever strategy he had planned, but from what he gathered on the few turns they had played was that this Random Guy's style was unorthodox, to say the least. He wouldn't let himself be so easily swayed.

"I attack Boar with my second Creeper ," the scene repeated, and with Creeper's destruction Random's life rose (4300 > 4600). "And my third creeper!" one last time (4600 > 4900) and his field was left almost barren save for a weasel resting on his shoulders and a Set card that lifted open in front of Thunder. "I activate the Trap Card Surprise Party! Now, by discarding three cards from my hand and Banishing three Monsters with the same name from my Graveyard I can Special Summon a Random Monster from my Graveyard. Be reborn, Random Sleeper!"

The serpentine body of Random Sleeper slipped from within the black portal and let out a dry, hellish roar that shook the trees of Thunder's Field. The green dragon unconsciously took a step back; knowing his strongest Monster tied with the demonic drake didn't do anything to ease his nervousness.

" Surprise Party's second effect also increases the Special Summoned Monster's attack by half the total attack of the three Banished Monsters. Since all my Random Creepers had 2200 attack, Sleeper's grows by 3300!" Random Creeper let out a pleased shriek and the air around it started distorting with its sheer power (2500 > 5800).

"DA FUCK!?" Thunder screamed. It didn't take a genius to do the math and realize that a hit from that would destroy him. "No choice then. I'll have to use-

"However a Monster Special Summoned by the effect of Surprise Party can only attack my opponent's Monster with the highest attack," Random said intending to give Thunder some spirit of hope, but all it did was plunge the dragon further in defeat as he realized his card would not be activated. "Shall we? Random Sleeper! Attack Eden's Garden - Boar! Random Scream!"

Following its master's order, the creature reared its head back and charged energy visible through its skin, forming a swirling sphere inside its body. With an abyssal scream it blasted the energy through its jaws, crashing against the gigantic mass of muscle that was Boar who, despite its massive size, was pushed back by the strength of the attack. The resulting shockwave rattled the leaves on the trees and make the shop's window shake, and Thunder was sent flying a few feet back as his Life plummeted down (3400 > 100).

"Thanks to your Boar's effect it won't be destroyed. My Sleeper will be the one leaving the Field instead," Random explained and in cue his Monster evaporated into several particles of light around them. "But precisely because of that I can activate Sleeper's effect one more time, Special Summoning the three Random Creepers I Banished to Summon it!" for the third time on the day, the three skeletal constructs stormed into the field, ready to chip away what little life Thunder had left (ATK: 2200, Lv: 5 x3). " Random Creeper , destroy his Tiger and get me my victory"

"Like hell I'm going down so easily," Thunder said, standing up just as the Creeper's blade was about to fall on his Tiger. "Activate Trap Card, Pheromone Bait! This card activates when a Plant-type Monster on my side of the Field is targeted for an attack, and it lets me change that target to a different Plant-type Monster. With this I'll make Boar take the attack instead!" he commanded and the heavy set Boar stood in front of its equally large companion, deflecting the sword with its thick, armor-like skin.

"I'm sorry, birthday boy! But I'm not gonna give victory to just any random pervert slacker just because of the date! I activate the effect of the Spell Card Upper Hand in my Graveyard! By Banishing it, I can cancel the activation of an opponent's Spell or Trap Card!" and just as Random said this Thunder's Trap cracked and shattered away, letting the Random Creeper jump over his Boar and once more for a killing blow on Tiger.

"Tsk! No other choice then... Trap Card activate! Eden's Gate! This card can only be activated when all the Monsters I control are Eden's Garden Monsters and my monster with the lowest attack points is attacked by an opponent's Monster. By Tributing my Monster with the highest attack on the Field," he explained as a pair of pillars appeared on each side of Boar just as the Monster excessive bulk dissolved into dust, "I can cancel that attack and forcibly end my opponent's turn!"

With that final statement the dust gathered between the pillars, solidifying into two tall black gates that slowly creaked close in front of Thunder's monsters, swatting the Random Creeper back onto its owner's field before closing with a ground-shaking boom. For a second the forest remained silent, the gate looking more like a wall keeping them away from each other. Thunder let out the breath he had been holding, but Random's voice from the other side got him out of his relief.

"Very well, big guy! You managed to save yourself for a turn. So what? How much can you do with no hand?" the wolf kept taunting him, his goons' laughter audible as background for his words. "I'll end my turn now, just as your card tells me to. During my End Phase Random Giver is destroyed. So go ahead! Pull of your miracle Draw!" he laughed and the gate, understanding its job was already over, crumbled to reveal the dragon looking down at his Disk. His monster's gained more power, but didn't grow larger, almost as if they felt it futile (1800 > 1900, 2200 > 2300).

"God, this guy is annoying as hell! But he has a point..." Thunder thought, weighing his possibilities, pondering if giving up now would amount for the same. "Unless I can pull off a miracle Draw right now this is my loss. And dammit! I don't wanna lose to a smug asshole like this! But..." the green dragon looked down at his Deck, and just like the sense of uneasiness he had been feeling during this Duel, a sense of assurance washed over him. He took a deep breath... "Draw!"

The forest around them remained silent save for a gentle breeze that fluttered the leaves of the trees. The tension in the air was palpable even for the spectators on the other side of the glass and Thunder stared at the card on his fingers.

"Holy shit... I did it! I actually pulled it off!" he brightly affirmed to the confusion of his opponent, to which he responded with his own confident smug. "I Summon Eden's Garden - Bud Dragon!" on Thunder's field appeared a creature unlike any he had Summoned so far; a tiny baby dragon with its green serpentine body surrounding a tiny red orb (ATK: 500, Lv: 2).

"This is your miracle draw!? And what exactly do you expect to do with such a pathetic little thing!?" Random screamed, doubling in laughter along his goons at Thunder's new, tiny ally. Thunder, however, didn't let it affect him.

"I tune my Level 3 Crow , Tiger and my Level 2 Bud Dragon!" at the mention of tuning, Random stopped cackling and instead looked intently at his opponent's field, an expression of almost terror on his face as Bud Dragon transformed into a pair of green rings that tightly squeezed themselves around the massive girth of Crow and Tiger, each becoming three bright stars of their own. "Great tree of life that branches into the universe, take the form of the beast that gnaws on your roots! Synchro Summon! Stand on my battlefield, Eden's Garden - Life-Weaving Dragon, Yggdrasil!"

From the beam of light that crossed the rings rose the image of a bright green-scaled reptile, its snake-like tail flickering angrily as it took its place behind its owner. A delicately decorated wooden plate rested over its thick chest, crossed by a pair of chains, and its arms thickly built arms remained naked save for a pair of brown gauntlets. Bright red eyes glared down with fury at the other side of the field from within an oak helmet and it let out a thunderous roar (ATK: 2600, Lv: 8).

"B-Big deal!" Random said in an attempt to hide his fear, but the sweat trickling down his forehead betrayed him. "It's still a Monster with just 2600 attack points! Nothing I can't deal with!"

"I activate Yggdrasil's effect! Once per turn I can banish an Eden's Garden Monster from my Graveyard to increase Yggdrasil's attack by that Monster's until my opponent's End Phase!" with another shattering roar a black portal opened on Thunder's field from which his Boar rose, becoming a bright green arrow of light shot at the larger Monster.

The moment it touched, Yggdrasil's body started to shake as its finely made armor started snapping and splintering until it broke off, releasing the dragon's growing pectorals and bulging abs, expanding to otherworldly proportions until they strained against the chains. Its arms were suddenly covered with thick green veins that slowly crept their way to its chest, and in its sheer behemoth size its head rose well above the trees, each one of its muscles flexing with brimming power just begging for release (2600 > 4200).

"When Yggdrasil's attack is 3500 or higher it can attack all of my opponent's Monsters each. That means I can attack each one of your Random Creepers"

"But that's 6000 points worth of damage!" the wolf tearfully squealed, his goons backing away from the area of impact.

"Precisely! Yggdrasil! Attack the three Random Creepers! Ragnarok Hammer!" and with that final order Yggdrasil raised one of its meaty arms and heavily crashed it against the ground, sending shockwave after shockwave that blew apart each of the Random creepers, and with them all of Random's Life in a sweep go (4900 > 0).

Thunder let out a satisfied breath at his victory just as the field around him slowly vanished. Before it fully disappeared he gave a final look at his dragon, the thick muscles popping veins practically everywhere, and a small blush covered his face when the bulge inside his pants twitched again. He gave one final look at his opponent, currently being held up by his goons, and made his way inside the store.

"So, it was a nice game and all, but you should really work on your attitude," he said and opened the door, greeted by the booming applauses and cheers of the shop's patrons, congratulating him on his amazing victory and giving him his wishes and gifts. All in all it was amounting to be a rather nice birthday.
