"So, how'd you like breakfast, Alan questioned as Jade finished her bacon and eggs. With an attempted thumbs up he took it as a good sign as he cleaned he their dishes. Heading upstairs afterword, he scanned through his clothes, searching for suitable traveling attire. After about five minutes he settled on a pair of comfortable shoes, black jeans, and a Guns & Roserade T-shirt with a black hooded jacket. Placing Jade's cherish ball on his belt, he grabbed his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and went downstairs. Rounding the corner into the living room, he started to giggle, which became all-out laughter as the package box from yesterday was upside down and moving across the floor. After it bumped into his leg, it lifted up revealing her "new attire". Almost dying from lack of air, he managed to calm down. Jade had managed to cover herself in Styrofoam and bubble wrap, like some sort of makeshift armor, looking more like a shippable item than a  Pokémon. After a minute of discarding the trash, they were out the door and headed to see Professor Birch in Littleroot Town.Walking down route 102, Alan had a brief flashback, for it was only two days ago when he saved Jade from those asswipe Poochyena and now he was going on a journey. Somewhere along his pondering, Jade managed to sit on his foot and cling to leg for a free ride, not that he minded. Avoiding tall grass he jumped off the conveniently formed ledges and made it to Odale Town without a problem. Stopping in the Odale Town PokeMart, he grabbed some fresh water and shared with the Jade before heading back out to Littleroot.The only a minute's walk through Route 101, Jade insisted on sitting on his shoulders and upon entering Littleroot he realized it didn't even deserve to be called a town. With only two houses and a Pokemon lab it was barely even a village, though only now he realized why the use of the word "town" is use so loosely. Walking up to the if he ignored the kid at the town's entrance walked up to and inside the Pokemon lab. Looking around he noticed how lifeless the place was. Glowing machines were lining the walls and humming lowly."Hello?! Professor Birch?!", Alan called out in the baren lab."Back here, please do come in!" a voice rang, as Alan ventured toward the back area of the lab, with Jade upon his shoulders. Finally at the back of the lab sat Professor Birch, in a chair, writing something on a clipboard. Looking up with a smile,"The name is Birch, Professor Birch. How may I help you?" he questioned with an outstreched hand." Hi, my name's Alan and I'm starting on a Pokemon journey. I was wondering if you could give me any tips or such before I really start?", with a sly smile he was a bit embarrassed for doing a "kids" thing at age 22. Surely there were others like him; Like those hikers or scientists, but hen again they started young once too."There's nothing to be embarrassed about Alan. After all, there is no age

too old to have a Pokemon, more or less go on a journey." Birch encouraged,"Here, let me see your Ralts." Reaching up and removing Jade from his shoulders, he placed her on the desk. Birch picked up an upgraded PokeDex from his desk and scanned her. After a minute of looking at the blinking screen he looked at Alan with a semi-concerned face."It seems that your Ral-","Jade" Alan blurted,"Sorry. Her name is Jade","It's ok. Well it seems the only move she knows is Growl, though it's understandable considering she's only level 2." A frown followed by a look of thought took over Alan's face. He didn't expect her level to be THAT low. Of course that didn't change his feelings for her, as he still loved her with all his heart, but she can't battle. Sensing the conflict within her trainer, Jade looked down at the desk in shame. Seeing both of them, the Professor spoke up."Listen," he started,"Normally a trainer of your age would've beaten the League and be a veteran by now. Traveling through other regions and polishing up their skills. I want to see you succeed Alan," placing a hand on his shoulder,"I just sent my daughter out on her own journey with a PokeDex, mainly for her to leave me be at work, but I want you to", he stopped and pondered on the words," I believe the term is "rek those skrubs?" he said it hesitantly, eyes scanning Alan's face for approval. Alan shook his head and Birch looked down in defeat."Just no.","Either way I'll give you a head start.", that being said he reached into his desk and pulled out a key. Getting up, with that sound of effort and struggle, he walked over to a wall cabinet. Unlocking and opening it he picked up some thermos labeled RC Blend."Here, this should help." Taking it, the Professor sat back down with a sigh."Have Jade drink three cups of this a day. Your goal is to build up her Special Attack, so in order to do this you should play some mind games with her. Every once and a while test out her progress by having her move objects with her psychic abilities. With that Alan shook the professor's hand and headed back home with Jade.
