#1 of Kevin's Highschool Days: Chapter 1 The start of school
I made a mental note to myself vowing to seek out those three mysterious males and the human. I couldn't quite place it, but I had a feeling I would get to be close friends to them if a chance ever popped up.
Anyways the first day of school started off quite well. The school had two days: a day one for our first 4 classes and a day two for the other 4. I started off in computers as my first day one class. The human sat five seats away from the PC I used. The teacher didn't really give us much to do because this was our first day back to school. She just made practice typing with a typing program called Peter Parrot typing. The menu box was pretty amusing since it featured a green, yellow and orange colored parrot dressed up as a pirate. I chuckled to myself as I selected the home keys option and began typing away.
Now I'm pretty good at typing. My best average is 31 to 40 words a minute. Of course this typing was a little frustrating. Usually when I attempt to type 10 lines each, I end up hitting a wrong key resulting in an error but I'm still that good.
After completing my lines, I glanced over at the human. He was deep into his monitor and his hands were moving pretty fast. As almost as fast as my claws.
"This kid must be pretty experienced at the board", I thought to myself. Just then the bell rang. I glanced up at the clock which read 10:00 am. Wow,time sure flys by when you're trying to make contact with a human. Everyone began filing out to their next classes even the human boy. I quickly headed out the door with my backpack praying that a chance to meet him would come soon.
Second class was one of my personal favorites: cooking. That's right, it was cooking class which had all four of them in it. A perfect situation to get a chance to talk to them and what luck I had! Our teacher, Mrs. Loon (who was really a loon) paired me up with them for our recipe on cheesecake. This time I could see the other heads crystal clear.
The orca head was a standard shade of black and white and his body sported a well built six pack. The reptile's skin was green and had a lot of scales on his back and tail. The falcon's skin was a little strange because I couldn't quite tell what his skin color was,but I did see his tail though which stuck out behind his jeans.
It became quite clear that it was now or never. Once we got into our groups, I opened my mouth and spoke to the human.
"Hey are you new here?" I asked the human. He was unwrapping the cream cheese and then turned his head around.
"Why yes I am," the boy replied back. "This is my first highschool year here and I'm looking forward to an exciting semester at CropHill." A smile formed on his mouth and he stuck his hand out to me. "Nice to meet you, what's your name?"
Oh I'm Kevin," I responded shaking his hand in return. Now shaking hands with a human feels so good. I've shook hands with cats, dogs and even birds but human's hands feel like smoothness in a whole new way. This first experience at feeling human hands never felt better than this. I decided to ask his name in return.
"What's your name?" I asked back after I detached my hand from his.
"Oh me and the guys decided to keep our names a secret to some people" he said back pointing to the other males. The orca was blending the cream cheese into a bowl along with a egg and other ingredients. The reptile and falcon were lining a baking pan with tin foil. "We've told our names to almost everyone in school, but we like to remain a secret to certain people like you until the time is right." The human winked at me.
"When will that be?" I asked. In all the movies and cartoons I've watched, whenever someone mentions when the time is right, normally it involves something spectacular or dangerous but I felt it would be good with these guys.
"Oh you'll see," he responded back. "If you want, I can set you up to meet three good friends of mine at lunch."
"That'd be nice," I said. "Which table should I look out for to spot them?"
"Look for a table with 3 guys of different species and you'll find them," the human said. "It's already been arranged." Now come on, we got cheesecake to make!"
I grabbed a measuring cup and went over to the ingredients table to get the graham crumbs for the crust. This meeting of new friends was going to be great! I'd be meeting 3 strangers and we could all hang out! My mom and dad were going to go nuts over this!
At lunch I walked with my backpack to the lunchroom scanning for a table to see who these 3 people were. One table had a ram talking to some beavers. He pointed to a bulge in his pants and then they all laughed. Probably mentioned a dirty joke and those are his buddies he's yuking it up with I thought to myself. There was another table of human girls doing various things. Some were talking about some hot guy, some were text messaging and other were doing their fingernails. I kept walking till I reached a table with 3 guys of different species and boy was I surprised!
There was a phoniex, a sea dragon and a snow leopard all sitting together with a lunch bag in their hands. I'm literally going to eat lunch with 3 awesome different species. I felt I could crap my pants from the display!
"So are you three the guys I'm suppose to meet?" I asked sitting down between the sea dragon and the phoniex. I then opened my backpack and took out my lunch bag as well.
"Yes we are," spoke the sea dragon. "You must be Kevin, the dragon that our human friend has told us about." "I'm Lucian Equinox." "Welcome to our group new friend."
"Thanks," I replied pulling out my food container from my food pack. "Who are the other two?"
"Oh these guys?" Lucian said pointing at the phoniex and snow leopard. "The phoniex is Lucian Blaze and that's Lucian Snowclaw the snow leopard." "We're brothers."
"Wait, wait, wait a minute," I sputtered shaking my hands. "You all have the first name Lucian and you're brothers too?"
"You may find that hard to believe, but yes we are,"said the phoniex. "If you want, you can call me Blaze and the leopard Snow. "We prefer people to call us by our other names rather than our first so it's less confusing." "We don't mind people calling us Lucian though as long as we know which one of us they're talking to."
"Okay, I'll keep that in mind," I responded back taking out my sandwich which was ham and cheese btw. "Can I call you Lucian though if it's okay?" I asked turning to the sea dragon.
"Sure I don't mind," said the sea dragon. "You can also call me Equinox if you want to remember me better."
"Okay, but I'm not good at remembering hard names like that," I replied biting into my sandwich.
"Don't worry, lots of people have a hard time remembering my name,"chuckled Equinox. Blaze and Snow laughed too and then began eating their own lunches. I was in a new group of friends and I'm loving it already!
The rest of the day passed by smoothly. I got gym for my third class and art as my fourth one. I did spot the orca, the human, the reptile and falcon during our badminton play. When the class was over, I passed by them by the changerooms and they were talking to each other about something. When I walked by them, they looked up and waved happily at me. My only guess is the subject they were discussing involved something about me and the time they'll introduce my names in person at the right time.
Art class wasn't much of a surprise. Our teacher, Mrs McKinnley who was a kangaroo basically gave us each a small bit of work to do for the class. Paint shades of each color from lightest to darkest on little strips of paper. Basically it involved using the colors of the rainbow which were red, blue, yellow, orange, green and purple. The Lucian brothers were in my class as well and they sat next to me. The decided to remain in the same seating position for the whole year and maybe the next year if we ever got a class together again.
The bell rang shortly after art class finished and I headed for the bus stop. Equinox, Snow and Blaze followed me there too. They mentioned that they had to stop by a place to pick up something special. I kept pondering this thought as the bus pulled up and we all climbed onto it.
"So Blaze," I said after the bus pulled up to the sky train station. "I guess I'll see you tommorow then." "By the way, do you know the human who paired you up with me?"
"Oh yes he was in your first period cooking class," Equinox said. "He mentioned he and his friends, the orca, the reptile and falcon will all tell you their names when-
"When the time's right, he told me that," I said finishing his sentence. "Are you guys all friends with him and them?"
"Yep we sure are,"responded Snow. "See you tommorow Kevin!" I then stepped off the bus and waved goodbye to them as the bus pulled away.
Okay I'd like to note about the new chapter I posted up as well as the characters.
Blaze, Equinox and Snow all belong to Lucian Canad and were used with his permission. Credit goes to him for allowing me to use the Lucian brothers in my story and expect to see more of those guys soon!
I do have a cooking teacher named Mrs. Loon, but she has an extra letter after n which is a secret
The human, the orca, reptile and falcon will be introduced later in a future chapter as well as their names!
My real life art teacher's name does began with a K except it's not McKinnely.
