#1 of Ethereal

This is just your cliche bad scientist creates an experiment and it escapes and does itself some soul-searching... Or is it? Head scientist Kyrin and his accomplices have done some DNA splicing. Add that with some extra infusion of some mystery compounds... And BAM you got a test subject. But what if that doesn't go according to plan? Or maybe it all is... See for yourself.

(I am still getting the hang of writing and am trying my best. Let me know what you think. Hopefully I can keep the creative juices flowing for this story.)

Chapter 1

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious--it is the source of all true art and science."

- Albert Einstein

The room was tense, almost so that a generator could survive of the electricity dancing above the fur heads. Everyone had their noses in their computers, constant clicking and tapping of keys echoing throughout large but plain room. No one said a word to another nor any glances exchanged. They were too enthralled with their research. The scientist wanted to make sure that everything was up-to-date and nothing could fail.

Someone walked in wearing a brown trench coat, contrasting against the white coats, walls, and ceiling around him. A logo was branded onto the left side of his shirt that read E-KO. The word was surrounded by three circles that resembled ripples. He looked like a proud lion, his mane flowing down to his shoulders. He walked toward to the center of the room with his arms crossed behind his back, a satisfied, yet almost sinister, smile etched across his lips. His dark brown, near black, eyes had a glint of power within. He placed his hand on the large glass cylinder, the cyan liquid inside giving a large flow of bubbles.

Inside the cylinder was a tall, large, muscular form of a bull. He drifted quietly inside the large vial, every so often bubbles escaped from around his mouth. His fur was black, except for a diamond-shaped patch of white fur in the middle of his right pectoral muscle. It was about 3 inches tall and two inches wide. The subject stood at least seven and a half feet tall and weighed around 330 pounds, his body comprised of muscles of a bodybuilder. To scientist such as the lion, he was truly a behemoth of a specimen. However, much to the lion's unaware, it was time for the bull to wake up.

"U-Uh, M-Mr. Kyrin... You may want to come look at this." The lion gave a quiet angry growl at the summon of his name. He turned around sharply to face a pale tigress.

"Ms. Williams, what is it?" He asked, the agitation slightly visible in his tone.

"Subject X... Sir, his heart is showing signs of life." She said as she turned her monitor towards Mr. Kyrin. The lion's eyes lit up with excitement the closer he got to her screen.

"This... is wonderful news..." He whispered.

"S-Sir, I am picking up energy readings from X... The data... It's off the charts, Sir!" A red male female Fox said, fear starting to rise in her voice.

"That's good! We planned f-"

"No, Sir, these are far higher than expected!" She said, turning to look at him with wide eyes. A machine that looked similar to a seismograph began scribbling on a paper that it continuously fed out. The needle raced back and forth across the parchment in such speeds that it made all the scientist in the room turn from their computers. It quickly looked like the machine was beginning to malfunction, the needle now moving so much that the paper was starting to get cut up from it's ferocity. The lion's eyes grew wide just as the machine gave a small spark, a startling POP, and a tiny explosion, bringing the room to a hush.

It remained quiet for a few more seconds before a small crack made everyone jump. Slowly Kyrin turned around as another crack echoed in the room. The test cylinder had two rather large cracks at the top, reaching about a third of the way down. A few scientist got out of their seats as it cracked some more. Everyone's hearts pounded in their ears, none more so than the lion's. Anxiety and sheer happiness pulled at his soul. Their test subject... No... HIS test subject was finally going to bloom in front of his eyes. He took a step just before CRASH, the cylinder exploded, the cyan liquid rushing out all over the floor. All the furs reared back in fear, though Kyrin stood firm, looking at the bull, who now sat with his legs outstretched in front of him and his arms between them.

He was going to call out to X when all the monitors started erupting in minor explosions. The lion looked around as the others gave out small cries. The towers started bursting with smoke and sparks. All... All of their data was being fried! Kyrin looked back at X, rage now evident in his eyes. The bull opened his eyes which glowed a soft luminescent ice blue. He looked up at the scientist, his eyes not showing any kind of fear nor curiosity, just blank blue pools. Just as Kyrin was going to snarl a lecture at X, the lights flickered. In a flash the bull was up and running past everyone, moving faster than any of the furs could have estimated.

"Sir! He is getting away!" The fox said as the lights flicked off, the generator itself being overcooked due to X's surging energy. A even colder chill ran down the lion's neck.

"Send guards after him at once!!" He demanded, his eyes adjusting to the darkness in a couple seconds. He dashed out the door as guards with night vision goggles began running around. Kyrin paid no heed as he ran into a hallway that led straight to his office. He burst through the door and quickly slammed it shut behind him, making sure to lock the three different mechanism. Quickly, he walked over to a bookshelf and pulled a white book's spine down, revealing a button where the title was. After giving it a quick press the top of his desk lifted up. Kyrin walked over and lifted up the top of his desk, revealing a blue scan pad. It whirred quietly as he placed his paw on the cold surface. The bookshelf behind gave a hiss as it opened up with a swing.

Slowly tiny floor lights began to click on as he walked through the thin hallway. With each step his heart raced even more. When he got to his private room he gave a small sigh of relief. A similar cylinder to Project X sat in the middle of the room, however it was filled with purple liquid. Inside the test vial floated a husky, his fur a combination of tan and white. He stood about five foot eight inches tall and weighed around 170 pounds. Kyrin walked up and placed his paw on the cylinder.

"I was worried X had cut off you power generator too, Omega." He said quietly. His eyes drifted to the husky's forehead that had a capital Omega symbol in black fur. The lion gave a small sigh and looked at the ground. He feared that this subject wasn't as strong as the bull and wouldn't pull through. When he looked back up he let out a gasp. The Omega symbol on the subject's forehead was beginning to give a raddiance of black light. Kyrin took a step back as Omega opened his eyes, his eyes glowing purple. With a sharp gust of power, the vial exploded and the lion fell on his backside.

"W...What... He's awake...too?"

Omega fell softly to the floor, outlined in a purple light similar to telekinesis. As his paws touched the ground his eyes stopped glowing and the symbol on his forehead stopped giving off a dim black luster. He looked around confused , his ears flicking a couple times, a small amount of the purple liquid flying off. Omega's eyes were a bright purple and seemed more lively than X's. The lion got up quickly, causing the husky to step back quickly in fear. Kyrin stood almost about half a head taller than him.

"I can't believe you pulled through!" He shouted happily, grabbing the subject's shoulders. This time the husky pulled away and put about half the room in space between them. Trying to control his rage he crossed his arms. "Oh, come now, I do not intend to hurt you. I am your Creator."

The husky didn't move for a few seconds before standing up straight. He didn't say anything but took a hesitant step forward. Kyrin smiled softly as he held out his paw.

"It seems even in the worst of circumstances, a miracle can arise. Come along Omega... Everyone will want to see you."

Silently the husky followed Kyrin out.
