Chapter 5:

Saturday.

Once a day when three young boys would wake up before the sun to play, pretending to be pirates sailing the seas and plundering gold. Where with a few sheets strung up to various objects they could be fighting off aliens inside their moon base, stranded out in the wastelands like the road warrior wolf or building, then rebuilding a maze to walk through blindfolded.

What was once three boys, was now four and what was once an early morning rise to fun and games in another world, was now the morning after spending all night playing games set in another world.

ZZZZTT... ZZZZTT

Jay blinked and looked at the phone to his left, the screen lit up with a message. The groggy fox pulled the bed covers tighter over his shoulder and rolled over to his right away from the annoying phone and the window letting in the faint morning light.

ZZZZTT

The phone started vibrating once more, this time accompanied by the sound of violins, trickling water and birds chirping, a relaxing melody of calm and serenity.

That's... not my ringto...

A deafening high pitched scream filled the room, the blue fox's fur bristling at the sound as he both attempted to face the sound and scramble up against the wall at the same time, his heart thudding in his chest as his back made contact with plaster with a thump. The screen flashing a picture of Sean poking his tongue out at the camera as the screaming continued, phone slowly vibrating across the bedside table. Jay took a breath and let himself fall forward on to his stomach, snatching the phone up, sliding a pad across the screen and tapping the speaker button before dropping the phone on the sheet by his head.

"Fucking asshole! When did you change that?".

"HAha" The lion laughed, sounding pleased with himself as always. "Like two days ago in math, while you were perving on the basketball players." Sean took a bite of something crunchy, not bothering to swallow before talking, "So are you gonna come out today, I want to pick up the Creed collectors box."

Jay peered gingerly at the dim light coming in the window, somewhat puzzled as to why the light wasn't brighter, "Wait, what time is it?"

The blond lion on the phone swallowed, "Eight thirty", taking another loud bite.

The fox groaned, "Why?"

Another voice piped up, "Why not JJ? I remember when you and Sean used to be up at five to watch cartoons".

Wha? Mum?

"Where are you?" Pushing himself up in bed and rubbing his eyes with the back of his paw.

Sean chuckled, "Downstairs, Sam made bacon and hash browns."

"And if you don't move your ass, you can make your own young man" Sam called out loud enough that her son could hear her in stereo before the call ended, leaving the young fox rapidly trying to untangle himself from the sheets.

Jay yawned, groggily making his way down the stairs to the kitchen in a crinkled pair of shorts and shirt pilfered from his bedroom floor. The comforting smell of bacon, eggs and hash browns set his stomach to rumbling as he padded toward the kitchen bench, a fresh plate awaiting him. Taking a seat next to the grinning lion, Jay reached out to pick up a fork, only to have his mother hit his hand with a spatula.

"Oww! fuck!" Screamed the fox as he pulled his paw away, receiving another swat on his other arm. "Shit! Stop it!"

"Stop swearing and apologise to Sean" His mother said sternly, trying to take another swipe as her son jumped off the stool and out of reach.

Jay glanced at his friend attempting to remain in his own stool as he laughed at the exchange, before putting his full attention on Sam as she started to walk around the bench towards him "W..what for?".

Sam didn't reply, raising the plastic spatula again as she walked towards her son as he attempted to back away without taking his eyes off her. "Ok ok I'm sorry, alright?" pleaded the younger fox, rubbing at his hand and arm, flinching as she lowered the spatula and gave him a smile.

"Good boy, now stop leaving your phone out where he can get at it", turning on her heal and heading back to the stove to dish up her own breakfast, making sure to give the amused lion a light whack on her way past, "And you can stop laughing as well, smart ass."

While his mother made up a plate for herself, the younger blue fox took his seat, giving his friend a light nudge in the process and began eating. Jay sulked in silence as Sam sat beside him and began eating herself.

Why the hell do I get punished? Your always yelling and swearing for no reason when you play games.

Sam cleared her throat, "So funny thing boys, I was checking the settings on the home cloud this morning and noticed a few automatic uploads", watching for any reactions from the boys, "Pictures actually", this just got a disinterested shrug from the younger fox, but Sean paused with his fork half way to his mouth. "Sean?"

The lion turned to his friend, a panicked look on his face, "Dude, I didn't mean too".

Jay almost choked as he gulped down the food in hsi mouth, "Didn't mean to what?". Turning to face his mother, a half amused, half worried look on her face, "What pictures?"

"Now JJ, there's no reason to be embarrassed", resting a hand gently on her sons arm.

Jay's heart skipped a beat, anger bubbling up as he turned on his friend "What the hell did you do!?", his face burning hot, his heart taking up a quick heavy beat as he stared at his worried friend.

He's not grinning. Oh shit, oh please no.

His normally grinning, teasing friend looked nervous, ears folded flat against his skull "I... I had to enable sharing to upload the ringtone", Jay felt like he was going to be sick as the lion continued, "I forgot to turn it back off I guess."

"You fucking what?", gritting his teeth together, only to be roughly spun around by the arm to face the angry stare of his mother.

"Jason Vuples!", the angry growl from his mother instantly killing any flames of anger towards his friend as he cowered at her rebuke, "You might be angry but that's no reason to speak like that, understand?", Sam firmly taking hold of both his arms as he slightly nodded, trying not to look his mother in the eyes. "Jason, look at me".

Jay whimpered and looked up in the concerned face of his mother.

"Jay honey, I don't care if you like boys or not, you could like boys, girls or anything in between. Either way, your still my son." Sam sighed, both boys looked close to tears, as much as she knew the lion had a crush on her, she knew that Sean loved her son like a brother. "Now finish eating and you two can tell me all about Ollie."

Both boys looked up at the female fox in shock as she released her son, picking up a hash brown and grinning at the boys, "You need to learn to be a lot quieter in the bathroom JJ".

Jay cringed in a sudden rush of embarrassment as his friend behind him couldn't help but snicker.

Sam took a bite of her hash brown, watching as the tension between the boys returns to normal. That's better.

The talk went as well as could be expected, Jay explained his feelings for the older rabbit and officially came out to his mother as gay, having no interest in girls at all. Sean despite a few smart ass comments, apologised repeatedly to his friend, while sneaking the odd look at Sam's cleavage when she leaned in to hug her son.

Sam had made sure earlier to pull the front of her top down a few inches so that she could tease the lion as badly as he teased her son, while still keeping her total attention on Jay and letting him know that it was all fine.

The walk to the mall was awkward, both boys silent in contemplation. Jay trying to wrap his head around the morning, being woken up, terrified, slapped with a spatula and forcefully coming out to his mother, all in the space of two hours and all because of Sean.

Sean felt guilty, he'd pulled plenty of pranks on the fox in the past and nothing like this had every happened before. He's my best friend. Sean had had a crush on Sam since he was twelve and Jay knew that. She was the coolest mom in the world and definitely the hottest. He'd had many a steamy dream about her since he was twelve and despite being fairly sure he was completely straight, he would be lying to himself if he didn't admit he'd had the odd fantasy about his friend as well. I should say something.

"Jay, I really am sorry man, it was an accident."

Jay wanted to be angry, it was Sean's fault, but at the same time he felt better that he didn't have to hide it at home or worry about what his mother might think. He still wanted to be angry at the lion, but his voice came out more like a plea, "Sean, I had to come out to my mum today, what if she wasn't cool with it? What if she hated me and everyone at school found out?"

"But she is cool with it and you reset the sharing on your phone, no-one at school's going to know about the pictures." The lion slumped, still walking beside the fox. "What do I need to do to make things like how they were?"

The fox wasn't angry with his friend, he knew Sean didn't mean to do anything wrong, but Jay was still stubborn, mumbling quietly to himself, "You could blow me, jerk wad". Or at least he thought he said it quietly"

Sean flushed, "F...fine then".

Jay stopped, "What? Serious? Sean, you don't have to, I was ju..."

"If that's what it takes dude, then I'll blow you." Hand in his pockets the lion stopped walking and turned to face his stunned friend, both boys felt their ears burning hot in embarrassment, a new type of awkward silence lingered between them as the stared at each other.

"Ugh Sean?"

Sean looked away as the fox started walking towards him, turning around to continue the journey as his friend walked past him. "Yeah?"

"I thought you liked girls, or are you...?"

"I like girls" The blond cat quickly blurted out, "I mean, I mainly like girls I guess, and your mom." Sean grinned at an angry glare from Jay. "Especially your mom, she's like massively hot and has great ti..."

TWACK

Jay interupted his larger friend with a punch to the arm, "Shut the fuck up!"

The lion with a big stupid grin on his face, used his paws to mime a large pair of breast in front of him, causing the fox to growl, "Fine then, be an ass and when you blow me I get to take pics for proof!"

Sean gave the smaller fox a light shove, grinning down at his friend, "Haha. Ok, deal."
