#1 of So Furry Presents: The Amazing Race

Special thanks to Vikthefox for helping me with this story :)

Angie & Jennifer won the Amazing Race Trial so they were the first ones to arrive at the starting point in the real race: New York City. Right now the starting line was in Battery Park. Angie (Pink Vixen) & Jennifer (Brown Collie) were sorority sisters. "This is awesome," Angie says, "we're in the actual race!"

"I know." Jen says and they hi-5. "Here come some more teams!" She points to more furs coming.

Cody (Grey wolf) & Dave (orange fox), jocks. "We're gonna rock this race. Right Dave?" Cody asks.

"You bet." They fist bump.

Matthew (brown coyote) & Sara (yellow lion), best friends. "Remind me why we did this race again?" Matthew asked.

"Because we're competitive and we're strong together." Sara said.

Richie (brown wolf) & Vlad (blue Siberian husky), songwriters. "You think we'll do ok in this, Vlad?" Richie asks.

"Of course." Vlad says.

Brent & Syd, humans. "I didn't know that the race consisted of anthros." Brent said.

"C'mon. This'll be awesome." Syd said.

"True."

Seven (black dog) & Stuart (black tiger), adrenaline junkies. "You think there'll be any excitement during the race?" Seven asked.

"There better be," Stuart said, "I didn't sign up for this for nothing."

Hans & Claudia (black cats), cake bakers. "You ready for this, Claudia?" Hans asked.

"Oh you bet. I'm ready to win and shove it in these bastard's faces." Claudia says with a small evil laugh.

Ashley & Jo (grey wolves), sisters. "Are you sure it's legal for me to be here?" Jo asked. "I'm only 8!"

"Shhhhhh!" Ashley said. "I told mom we'd do something together. So why not race around the world?"

"It's just around the country though."

Rob & Robbie (green foxes), brothers. "Woah bro!" Rob said, "check it out. Looks like we've got some hot babes racing with us."

Robbie rolled his eyes. "You're such a dork." He playfully said. So far this is 9 teams. However, a total of 18 teams are in this race.

Mario & Zelda (red foxes), karate teachers. "I'm so excited for this. Aren't you Zelda?" Mario asks.

"Of course. But don't do that thing where you karate chop when you're scared." Zelda says.

"No! I'm over that." The fox's paw started twitching.

Cassie & Shawn, albino foxes. "You think we'll be treated as outcasts like back in grade school?" Cassie asks.

"No way. We're not the strangest team here. I'm sure of it." Shawn reassures her.

Gretel & Helga (timber wolves), professional wrestlers. "C'mon G, let's get out there and destroy this competition!" Helga exclaimes.

"Fine, just calmed down. We got thrown out of the Big Brother audition because of your wrestling attitude." Gretel says.

Jon (blue fox/husky hybrid) & Devon (orange tiger), prostitutes. "You think it's illegal to have sex during the race?" Jon asks.

"No. Not in between legs at least." Devon says.

Regina & Tommy (purple wolves), restaurant workers. "You think they will be any eating challenges?" Tommy asks.

"I don't think so," Regina says, "but if so, we'll have to be ready."

Samantha (red coyote) & Steven (purple fox), Video Game Addicts. Their palms are twitching like Mario's. They're used to playing games 24/7 but their parents forced them to do this race together. "You miss your games?" Samantha asks.

"No, not at all." Steven's voice wreaked of lies.

Avery (yellow vixen) & Timothy (black wolf), Transexuals. "I think we'll do ok. Don't you Tim?" Avery asks.

"Yeah. Let's just not get in last and we'll be ok." Timothy says.

Jack (orange bear) & Maria (orange hound dog), Movie Experts. "Do you think this race will be anything like Fast & Furious?" Jack asked.

"Not sure. But this whole thing will probably be just as fast. Probably faster." Maria says.

Last but not least, June (yellow wolf) & Mabel (pink tigercat), Early Graduates. "This'll be so cool." June says.

"I know. Probably better than you getting Valedictorian." Mabel says. They both crack up at the joke she made.

All 36 players waited at the starting line for the host of the show to arrive. Suddenly, a helicopter came into view. A ladder was hanging out of the side. That ladder was carrying a red husky dog, his tail flapping with the wind. Once he was low enough, he jumped off the ladder and landed 10 feet below on the ground. He looked up and gave a thumbs up. The helicopter then flew off.

"Wow!" The red dog said. "Did you see how I stuck that landing? Anyways, I'm Toner. I'm going to be hosting the Race." The crowd of players murmured as he kept going. "For the next two and a half weeks, you'll be racing all over the country in hopes of being the last team remaining. And winning the grand prize of $1,000,000." The crowd cheered and applauded. "Here's how it works. In every single leg of the race, you'll be given different tasks. You have to complete them to continue. The last team to arrive at each checkpoint is out of the Race... for good! You all have been given your first clue to start you all off. When I say "race" you all start going to your destination. Understand?" The crowd of players cheered again and they got ready. "Alright. On your marks... get set... RACE!!!"

It felt like a mini earthquake when all the racers took off running. Angie opened her envelope as she ran.

"What does it say?" Jennifer asks.

"Route Info: head straight to the Empire State Building to receive your next clue." Angie says. Teams have to make it to the Empire State Building using any means possible. The clue box awaits just outside the building. Angie & Jennifer are in the lead, but the Cake Bakers and the Pro Wrestlers are trailing behind.

The Empire State Building is right around 34th street which is a long run from battery park. Despite the long distance, Angie & Jennifer are the first to arrive. Jen hits the button and a yellow card pops out. The Hans & Claudia, Gretel & Helga, and Cody & Dave soon get their cards too.

"Detour," Angie reads, "teams either run to the top of the stairs of the State building and zip line to Central Park or they can run on foot the rest of the way."

"Run for it?" Jen asks.

"Yep." They take off running along with Gretel & Helga. Hans & Claudia and Cody & Dave chose to climb the building. More and more teams arrive to take their clue. While some teams choose to climb the building (Jack & Maria, June & Mabel, Brent & Syd, Avery & Timothy, and Samantha & Steven), other teams decided to make a run for it (Matthew & Sara, Richie & Vlad, Seven & Stuart, Tommy & Regina, and Ashley & Jo).

Hans & Claudia were having trouble climbing the stairs as they were exhausted climbing so many stairs. They are neck and neck with the jocks. "Oh god *gasp* I've never *gasp* climbed *gasp* so many *gasp* stairs!" Hans exclaimed.

"I know!" Claudia said.

"Yeah seriously!" Cody said, "even our coach never pushed us this much before!"

"True but then again, we weren't racing for a million bucks before." Dave said. Their conversation was only gonna drive Claudia insane. These guys have athletic abilities, the feline thought, they have to go! The cats and jocks heard the other teams coming and got motivated to go faster.

Meanwhile, those who ran had trouble getting through New York traffic when crossing streets. Except for Angie & Jennifer of course. They had street smarts and were used to cities with heavy traffic. Richie & Vlad and Tommy & Regina were close behind them.

"Look! There are the sorority sisters!" Richie pointed ahead of him.

"You're right." Vlad said, "think we can outrun them?"

"Not a chance. But as long as we're not last, we'll be just fine."

"It wasn't this difficult back our workplace!" Tommy exclaimed as he ran.

"Let's face it, we need to work hard for the million!" Regina said. The two teams continued neck and neck behind Angie & Jennifer. From the way they looked, it looks like they could be working together during the Race. Alliances were hard to form during the Amazing Race since they have to move fast, but it wasn't impossible.

The last four teams arrived at the clue box and they took their clues. Rob & Robbie and Mario & Zelda chose to take the steps while Cassie & Shawn and Jon & Devon ran for it. Mario & Zelda realized that they were in last place and could be the first team out. They pushed themselves as much as they could but they did manage to get past Rob & Robbie after 10 floors, bumping them to last place.

Somewhere close to the top floor, conversations between the teams were happening. "So, how did you graduate early?" Brent asked June.

"We received enough credits our junior year so we were allowed to graduate along with the seniors." June replies.

"So were you ever top in your class?" Syd asks.

"June has been Valedictorian in her class for three years. I've been in second those three years." Mabel says.

"Wow. Aren't you guys academic rivals though?" Brent asks.

"We were are Freshman year," Mabel says. "But then we realized that working together would've been a better idea."

"Smart. Maybe the four of us can work together." Brent suggests.

"Yeah! With you brains and our brawns, we could make a good team." Syd says.

"You guys play sports?" June asks.

"Well, we play occasional football but that's it." Brent says.

"Alright. Well give you guys a shot." Mabel says. On the roof, the door swings open and Hans & Claudia and Cody & Dave come out. There are two zip lines at the top of the building. Hans has a slight fear of heights and is worried something might happen to him. However, Claudia, being the competitive kitten she is, forces him to do it. "Get on the zip line, scaredy cat!" She yells.

"Yeesh!! Calm down Claudia!!" Hans yells.

"No!! We're already falling behind!" She points at the jocks who are strapped in and are jumping off to reach the checkpoint at the end of the line. Claudia grabs Hans, holds him to her chest and she straps them in. She doesn't give time for Hans to argue back as she jumps off and rides down. Just in time as the other teams make it to the top of the steps and reach the zip lines. They get strapped in and they ride down the line as well.

"This is crazyyyyyyyy." Maria says as she descends with Jack.

"This is so coooooool." Brent says. June & Mabel just yell as they go down.

"Wooooooohooooooo!!!!!" Avery yells.

Back on the ground, teams are doing anything they can to get to the checkpoint in Central Park, which is only two streets away at this point. Toner is sitting in a lawn chair reading a magazine when he notices the teams approaching from both directions. The checkered rug is laying right next to him. Teams will step on that rug to indicate they finished the leg. Last team to get here is out for good. The first pair of feet land on the rug, which makes Toner put down the magazine entirely. He stands up, holds up their wrists and says, "Congratulations Angie & Jennifer. You guys win the first leg of the race!"

"Sweet!" Angie yells.

"This is awesome!!" Jennifer exclaims as she hugs her teammate. Toner looks up and hears yelling. The next team reach the end of the zip line and the land on the rug.

"Hans and Claudia, second place." Toner announces. Another team falls. "Cody and Dave, third."

Jack & Maria- 4th place

Matthew & Sara- 5th place

Brent & Syd- 6th place

Avery & Timothy- 7th place

June & Mabel- 8th place

Tommy & Regina- 9th place

Richie & Vlad- 10th place

Samantha & Steven- 11th place

"Seven and Stuart, you're in 12th place." Toner says.

"Next time, put some adrenaline in the game." Seven mutters as she walks past Toner. Toner shivers as a couple more teams arrive.

"Jon and Devon, 13th." When Toner says this, the duo his each other and Devon picks Jon up to carry him off.

"We did pretty good." Devon said. "Wanna celebrate?"

"Sure, but how?" Jon asks.

"Oh I think you know." Devon teases him and they walk off.

Ashley & Jo- 14th place

Cassie & Shawn- 15th place

"Helga and Gretel, you came in 16th." Toner says.

"What!?!" Helga gets her mad look on and Toner backs up, paws in the air.

"Helga! Calm down! We're still in the Race." Gretel says.

"Yeah but we're seriously behind."

"Let's go get a milkshake. They seem to calm you down for some reason."

"Fine."

"Alright. Looks like it's all down to the brothers and the karate teachers." Toner says. The last two teams make it to the roof of the empire building, both out of breath.

"C'mon Rob," Robbie says, "we've got to *gasp* beat *gasp* the teachers!"

"I know!" Rob says as he straps them into the zip line.

"Let's go Zelda!" Mario exclaims. She straps them together and both teams ride down. Along the way, Rob & Robbie look like they might get there first, but Mario & Zelda are literally right on their tail (mind the pun). One team gets at the end of the line and falls on the rug, then the other.

Mario looks around and see Zelda on the run along with the brothers. However, he felt like he was sitting on grass, not the rug.

"Rob and Robbie. Congrats. You earned 17th." Toner says.

"Yes!! We did it bro!" Robbie stood up and he fist bumped his brother. Zelda stood up and stood next to Mario.

"Karate teachers: Mario and Zelda. You've came in last and you're out of the Race." Toner says, "I'm sorry."

"Oh man." Zelda pins her ears down. Mario rubs her back and they start to walk away.

"Well, that wasn't so bad." Mario says. "We got to see New York. That's cool right?"

"But we came in last." Zelda says, "and we don't get to see more of the world."

"I know. But at least we have something to talk about once we get back home."

"True. How do you think our students will react?"

"Not sure my friend." Mario wraps an arm around her as they walk off to head back home.
