Kevin's Highschool Days

When I was first born here in this world, the doctors knew there was something different about me. After I came out of my mom, they saw that I was a green dragon. Of course this didn't really shock them for the world we live in was full of various species ranging from bulls to croccodiles. The best thing that gave those doctors a shock was when an alien was being born and that didn't happen very often.

Through my childhood, I had expereince a variety of great things. From watching a show about talking trains to trick or treating, my life was full of amazing things including going to elementary school. I mostly hung around the playground by myself though since socializing isn't something I'm really good at. My parents did realize something in the 4th grade about me that required a little assistance.

I had autism.

Yes, but technically I didn't even become aware of this problem till I left elemtary. Still my parents had to hire some help in case I had trouble understanding a subject, but I managed to learn the studies without much help from the school.

3 years later I entered grade 8 at CropHill highschool. Since my autism required help back in elementary, my parents thought I needed assistance again. So their were tutors hired for me: one for grade 8 to 9 and another for grade 10. Most of the time, the tutors job required just taking down notes or reminding me to write down today's homework in my planner in case I forgot. Believe me there were a lot of notes in the classes. The funny thing though is despite some of the hard subjects highschool, a few of them were quite easy.

Okay enough of that, I'm just going to skip ahead to the current time here.

I just finished grade 10 and after 3 months of relaxation for summer, the time for grade 11 had come. I was not only excited for what to expect this year, but also on seeing all the new students and species arriving at the institution.

After being dropped off by my dad at school, I headed over to the cafeteria windows to look at the crowd. I was stunned at the flock of people there. There were a couple of pandas chewing bamboo and trying to peer at the list of teachers and names on the cafeteria. A bull was chatting up with a few lemurs listening to their mp3 players while a female bovine was texting something on her blue cellphone.

"Man today's technology at highschool sure has a lot of cellphones" I thought to myself. Then something caught my eye. There were four males of different species pointing up and down on the lists. It was hard to tell who they were since they each had a long hat and a tall jacket though 3 of them were animals. 2 of them had a tail and the other a feathered tail. The first one I could tell was an orca. He sported a long hat reading."Surfing High" on the front and he had a huge hoodie which had a smiling male dolphin winking at an attractive female dolphin on a beach. The second one was a falcon and the third was a reptile. The reptile had a brown leather jacket which had some scratched up drawing and the falcon wore a black jacket reading "Burnin rubber" that had a flaming tire. Like the orca, these two had a hat which concealed their faces so I couldn't tell what they looked like.

I then walked over to the human. The human's hat didn't cover his face so I managed to see him. His jacket had a chess board on it and his hat featured a horse chess pawn piece on it. I was then going to ask him a question when a loudspeaker voice interupted my thoughts.

"Attention students and new arrivals," said the voice. "Please proceed inside the cafeteria and pick up your schedules for the school year." Once it finished, everyone began entering the doors inside.

Drat I thought to myself. Okay so maybe I didn't get to talk to the human or see the mysterious 3 males, but I knew I could try again another time. Maybe they'll be in my classes and I'll be chosen to lead them around the school. After all the 3 years I spent in highschool, I knew my way completly around the building. Well except a few places, but nonetheless I still knew most of the places in the school.

The first day wasn't a surprised. Basically it just involved us picking up our timetables, going to the classes our names were on and the teacher introduced himself or herself and what they'll be teaching us. I managed to get lucky. My computers class had the human with the chess clothes in it and the mysterious 3 males were in my gym class. The best part however was that I got all four of them in cooking, graphics and art. Perfect I thought to myself. Maybe then I'll be able to make my move and find out who the other 3 look like and talk to that human.

Later that night during our stirfry dinner, my mom and dad wanted to know my first day back at school. My mom was a human and my dad a green dragon hence the reason I became a subspecies.

"So Kevin, how did your first back to school day go?" my mom asked chewing some carrots.

"Great!" I responded. "I met three mysterious males who are animals and a human who wears chess clothes and a hat with a pawn piece on it!" "Sounds like he's a brainy kind of guy who knows how to play chess well!" "I'm going to try to talk to him and those other guys in one of my classes."

"Wow sounds like you could be best friends with these guys," my dad chuckled stabbing a piece of beef on his fork. "You might be able to make some friends again."

My dad had sort of told the truth. I only had 2 friends named Ryan and Andrew back in elementary school. Andrew went to a different school while Ryan and me attended the same one together. However once I reached highschool, we sort of seperated and stopped hanging at each others house though we sometimes saw each other passing by or in a mall. These 4 might be the people I'm looking for to be my new friends. I thought carefully about this scenario as I shovelled some rice and stirfry into my mouth.

Okay that was my first story here! Please leave a comment below if you want know about the characters, future chapters or what you thought of it.
