Good-by...

The night still young, the air cool to the touch I ache for the hand of another so very much

The one by my side is there by time alone

We've drifted too far from one-another, are love is bare to the bone

Times surely made a fool of what we called forever

To have seen this ending of us coming, just a week ago, I'd of said never

She still smiles the same, & hugs with what seems good intent

But her eyes show cloudy storms of building resentment

Seems we both had sights on another, but neither could say fair well

Now, we quietly yell in our shared self-made hell

The bells chime only for time

No memories cared to share

Our love blossomed, dwindled, & now we stand in a garden so bare

Who'd a guessed, the words were all empty, every one so hollow

We're both at the breaking point, lips at the ready, to lash out, neither one first willing to swallow

Who's gonna stand.... will words be said

Or will walking away be enough to let our lifeless love lay dead

I don't know, at this point, I think I don't care

All I know is, the breeze has yet to change my blank stare

From a piece of peace, the answers clear

All I have to do, is move past a few possibilities of fear

As I started to say, she simply stood

"Everything hasn't been okay, we're not good"

"I think I should go, be on my own..."

"We've had our time, & I feel there's nothing else to be shown..."

"Thanks for the memories, but I'm not strong enough to stay...

"I'm feeling the breeze will stop soon, & I'll be too calm to get carried away..."

She beat me, the words I would of said a second more...

So now, I must smile & say goodbye to the one I did adore...

To my mirror, now back turning

The fire we shared in love finally stopped burning

The shadows grow outward over the hill

Too much time passed with both of us standing still

Up I go, back to the rubble we once shared

With the good times, I'll forget the day she finally dared

To walk away from what was, be it uneasy in the end

I'll always have a hand out for a not so close friend...

......if she ever wanted...
