A gravesite brings heavy memories to those who visit. Love, happiness and life are buried with no hope of seeing light once more. A jackal stands tall over a granite slab, "Leah Belfast" is etched onto the smooth surface. The jackal set a vase filled with flowers down on the still fresh grave before padding off to his car.

Lightview City was always a cold and unforgiving place for anyone to live; succumbing to crime, and substance abuse was inevitable for most who lived on the cluttered streets, filled with furs who wanted nothing more for themselves. Vector Belfast, however, was a rare exception. Born into the chaos of the streets, his mother Leah raised him and his best friend, Red. Teaching them to fend for themselves and to want more than a life of violence and crime was this mother's role as a guide and caregiver. With strict discipline Vector did well for himself, while his friend Red struggled.

Red Ulf had a bad life, he had no love from either parents and witnessing crime after bloody crime on the streets below his apartment. He moved into Vector's home and grew up with him as his best friend, and brother. The streets however called to him, and slowly he tumbled into a life that grew more wretched as he aged. At the age of 17 he had killed a few furs, but had yet to tell anyone, not even his adoptive family.

Age 17 hit with reality as Vector and Red graduated from Lightview High School; accepted to college, Vector was proud of his hard work and commitment while Red blundered deep into the underworld of urban malevolence. The night of the two's party, Red and Vector had a falling out, angry words flew from each other's mouths as they fought in front of many, including their mother. "How could you leave us?!" Red roared in anger and pain as tears rolled down his cheeks. "This city NEEDS someone to set it right and make it safe for everyone! I want to be that person!" Vector yelled to his brother who couldn't let go of the only fur that he truly bonded with.

"This city needs no more crime and heartbreak, with every passing night someone is killed in cold blood; law enforcers do their best but they need more help! I vowed I would rise up and fight...and I will." Red looked to Vector, the feeling of betrayal washed over him at these words. "We lived in this city...it brought us together...you plan on taking apart the one thing that kept us safe and sound?" Red said anger slowly rising in his tone. "We know the people that do this, and they kept us safe! Every night we got lucky because they protected this area with their lives! They may not be peaceful, but our world isn't. They kept us alive in a method that let us live...and you want to thank them by locking them away?!"

As the party stayed silent Vector walked over to Red and stared him in the eye. "We were raised to be better than this, and you believe they help us? You dare to say something like that in a home that we were taught to stand above the ideas of hate, and senseless violence? You've learned nothing then," Vector said narrowing his eyes. Red growled and threw one clawed paw that hit his best friend in the cheek, and scarred him with a blow that would forever injure their friendship. Too shocked to fight, Vector felt warm sanguine drops fall from his now blood-covered muzzle, and to the tiled floors. Red began to continue before he was halted and dragged off by someone strong enough to hold him.

A few days later, Red moved out, and with a heavy heart so did Vector...off onto a university campus miles away. There he would study in law and criminal justice tirelessly until he graduated four years later and accepted a well paying job in a better part of Lightview City as a police officer; he got his dream job. 4 years also affected Red, and his notoriety and infamy grew. "The Bloody Bastard" was his nickname, and he soon rose up and became a leader of "Venom" a group known for it's iron hold on the city.

When word came around that Vector Belfast returned home, feelings of anger towards him rose again in Red. "He thinks he can change us?" Red growled to himself as he plotted a way to teach his old friend a lesson. He pondered until he grinned evilly and proceeded to do the unthinkable.

At 12:00 A.M. sirens blared through the streets and Vector was on the scene along with other officers from his division. The report of screaming came from his old home; fearing the worst he barged through the door and found his fears realized: his mother had been murdered. He sank to his knees in shock and as he examined her body, a blood stained piece of paper stuck to her. He took it off and felt himself go numb. "You shouldn't have come back "brother," was all that was written. The bastard had stuck again, and this time, he had made a point he expressed before Vector left. "The gangs keep us safe."

Vector felt his head spin with emotion and he grew sick; he fell to the floor and fainted, only to wake up a day later with hurt and sadness to look forward to.

Many came to the funeral, and as Vector mourned for his now deceased mother, he was certain of his choice. He had to find Red, and stop him once and for all.
