Just practice. I do not own DeathNote!

The two boys stared at the notebook, gazing at the words written in large letters that read: 'DeathNote'. The title was alluring, yet scary. Just thinking of it put fear in the two.

One guy, Pax, a husky, reach out a paw and obtained the notebook, opening it. His friend, Jacob, a small cheetah, watched closely as his friend maneuvered through the notebook. Pax flipped the pages and examined the writing material. He eventually stopped and his eyes widened. Jacob noticed.

"What?" Asked Jacob. The cheetah pushed himself forward to get a better view.

Pax looked up and locked eyes with his friend. He wore a shocked expression.

"This can't be real..." Pax said in disbelief. "It says the name of a person that is written in this notebook will die of a heart attack within 40 seconds. I don't believe this. It must be a prank."

Jacob extended a paw and grabbed the notebook. He examined it, and as he did his jaw dropped.

"What a sick, sick joke!" The cheetah tossed the notebook back on the table in disgust. "Who would create such a stupid thing."

Pax grabbed the notebook again, flipping it back to the entry that mentioned a person's death in 40 seconds. He didn't react like his friend. Instead of portraying disgust, the husky looked at the book with intrigued eyes.

"A book that kills..." Pax started, "If it was real would you test it? Who would you test it on?"

The cheetah gave a concerned glare. He was obviously not fond of his friend's reaction toward the notebook. Personally, Jacob would love for it to be fake, especially since his father was a cop. He was against killing altogether.

"It's fake." The cheetah continued to stare at his friend. "And even if it was real, we wouldn't use it. That's no better than a gun, or nuke. People Shouldn't kill."

The husky grinned. "Some individuals deserve it. But that's beside the point. Would you test it out?" Pax opened the notebook to an empty page and placed it in front of his cheetah pal. "Even though you don't believe it's real, it is still fun to fantasize. Write down the name of one person you think should die. It can be anyone!"

Jacob's eyes went from the book to his husky friend, then back at the book. He was shocked. Pax always seemed like a good guy. He had an incredible sense of justice and always fought for the underdog. To hear his friend make such a suggestion left Jacob confused.

"Get out of here with that bullshit, dude." Jacob pushed the notebook away. "I won't write down a name. It's a stupid, low, and disgusting joke."

Pax grabbed the book again, frowning.

"It's an interesting piece of work..." Pax took a pencil and started writing down a name. Jacob watched him; disappointment spread over the cheetah's face.

Jacob's head perked up. "What are you doing?"

"Having fun!" Pax said as he continued writing. Once he finished, the husky showed his friend. Jacob's eyes widened and his face burned beet red. On the top of the paper, 'Jacob Cooper' was written in cursive.

"What the hell!?" Jacob grabbed the notebook. "Why would you writer fuckin' name down? We've been best friends forever. I thought you were suppose to write down the name of a person you thought should die, not your best friend!"

Pax grinned. His eyes lowered as he gazed at his friend, giving off a sinister aura. The eye contact caused all the wrinkles in Jacobs face to disappear.

There was a moment of silence, but Pax broke it.

"The notebook isn't real, but if it was..." Pax's eyes reflected something Jacob had never seen before -pure greed. "If it was, then I would have to kill you first and be the notebooks primary user."

Jacobs eyes went wide again. The calm yellow eyes just locked onto the Husky. Pax could see the sunshine orbs, so full of life and anger. But that only lasted a moment. One second the yellow pupils were full of life, and the next...

Jacob clenched his chest with his right paw and fell to the ground. The small body trembled and shook as foam began to escape the tiny muzzle.

Pax just sat there, no expression. He expected it to be a joke, but once the cheetah stopped moving doubt filled the husky's judgement. He had to make sure.

Pax poked his friend, "Jacob... Jacob, very funny, get up." There was no response. Pax checked for a pulse, but there was nothing. Nothing but a lifeless corps laying beside him.

In comets shook, Pax grabbed the notebook and stared at his friends name. He couldn't believe what had just happened. One second his friend was alive, and the next a feline's corps lay motionless. Pax just stared at the name of his friend for what seemed like hours.

All of a sudden a mischievous smile crept across the husky's muzzle.
