Yup, this came out late. I blame myself. But anyways, the UFFL had a week off last week. But week 6 was an interesting week as the UFFL started their cross conference games and the game of the week came down to the California Dons against the Texas Ramblers. And our two fans are here to talk about what happened that week.

Yo yo yo! This is Dons Nation! I'm Myron Woods; Marco Garner will be in shortly. Actually he told me to get ready for the show; but since I am here already I might as well get it started. You're listening to the number one fan podcast of the California Dons! Oh man, what a week we had; it was a very close game at home against the Texas Ramblers and we can't wait to talk about it.

Garner: All right, Myron; let's get this show started.

Woods: Don't worry; we already started.

Garner: Dude... you started without me? I always start the show off.

Woods: I know. I want to start the show every once in a while. And I figured this would be as good as any.

Garner: Ugh, fine... we'll alternate or something like that.

Woods: Thanks! I won't let you down! After a one week break to prepare for the cross conference games, the Dons are ready to get things going. Their opponent for the week is none other than the Texas Ramblers.

Garner: Oh yeah; you give them the chance and they will be a tough competitor. And that was the case this time around. Darnell Paige versus Andrew Calder; two of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Woods: The name of the game for the Ramblers was slow play and they made it happen on the first drive, going down half the field until all they could do is make a 46 yard field goal.

Garner: I will say that the defense on both teams did their jobs. Quite a few three and outs. Enough so that the score remained like that until the second quarter when the Dons made their long drive. Even Joe Bowers came in for a few plays.

Woods: That's my man there! Joe Bowers out on the field and making plays.

Garner: Only for some situations. Anyways, the Dons managed to take some time off and drive it 80 yards for a score made by Paige; making the score 7-3 Dons.

Woods: Woo! That's how we get things done! Let's go Dons!

Garner: And after a few more back and forth drives, the Ramblers found their way into another field goal, shortening the lead to one; Dons-7, Ramblers-6. But the Dons came back at the end of the half with a 50 yard field goal kick from Emmett Smith; putting them up at the end with score of 10-6.

Woods: Emmett Smith has been a great asset to the team. I mean most kickers don't miss their target but he has had kicks from just about every spot on the field and made them with no issues. Though I would like to see rookie Andrew Castonguay on the field at some point.

Garner: Well, when that moment comes, then I know he will be there ready for field goals. On to the third quarter, we move to another rookie making plays. Wide receiver Mylene Jean takes in a 22 yard pass for a touchdown.

Woods: Man, she is really making waves for the Dons. I am glad that they picked her up in the draft.

Garner: Me too. But that good play was cut short in the next drive. Your boy Castonguay kicks it off and second year Rambler Jacquelene Knight returns it for 69 yards. That led to a third down pass from Andrew Calder to Patrick Penguinator for 16 yards and a touchdown.

Woods: Wow, that just happened in a blink of an eye. I didn't know whether to get worried or not.

Garner: There is still one more quarter to go; but the Dons still have the lead at 17-13. And this is where it all came down to. Starting with the Ramblers; they held down another long drive, taking half the quarter, and ended it with a short running play from Isaac Sierra to give them another tochdown.

Woods: Isaac is pretty much the baddest running back in the league right now. Last season he ran for 655 yards and right now he's at 544. I can easily see 1000 yards from this guy.

Garner: And we will keep out for that. On to the game; with the score 20-17 Ramblers, they got the first lead of the game. And that didn't last long with the Dons firing back. Our running back, Charloette Vorce, has done well on both running and catching. This time around, she caught a pass from Paige for a five yard score. And the Dons are back on top!

Woods: Yeah! We got this in the bag! Leave it to Vorce to be our playmaker and deciding factor.

Garner: The stadium went wild when they took the lead again, making it 24-20 Dons. But there was still a lot of time left for Texas to make something happen. And they held the ball once more before giving the ball over to Kova Lewdko at the end zone.

Woods: Nooooo! That was shocking there. I can't believe they left him wide open there.

Garner: And with about a minute left on the clock, the Ramblers got themselves back in the lead with the score 27-20. And with that amount of time left, Paige had to make something happen. But the Texas defense had other plans as they kicked the ball deep in the Dons back field. And if that wasn't enough, Paige got sacked at second down with the time winding down. And the sack sealed the deal as California ran out of time and options to drive the ball down the field. At the end of the day, Kova's touchdown gave the Ramblers what they needed to stop the Dons winning streak; the final score being 27-20 Ramblers.

Woods: Kova Lewdko... I don't know much about him.

Garner: Not many people do. He was drafted last year by the Downriver Waves but has been pretty much vanilla. What did happen with him is that he got cut by the waves at the end of the season when they were about to head to post season. He was not happy with that, especially since the team went all the way and won the furbowl.

Woods: So wait; does that mean that he gets the trophy and ring from them since he was there?

Garner: By a loophole in the rulings, he got nothing from it. So I take it that he is going to do what he can to get himself a championship ring. And from the papers, the Ramblers are going to be a threat to some teams.

Woods: They got our attention all right.

Garner: Indeed. Looking at the stat here, both teams were pretty even in most categories. However, the Dons running game was quite short coming from the team with the best offense in the conference. I did say before the show that the United Conference would be a threat to us and it seems that it has happened with this game.

Woods: Well, I wouldn't expect to see the same thing happening in the following weeks. I know the Dons has reworked their strategy and is ready for the next team to face.

Garner: Their next game will be at Chicago where the defense will test their wits against the number one draft pick, Jean-Entienne Tremblay, and the Outlaws.

Woods: Tremblay... woo, he's a tough bear! I saw the game against the North Florida Renegades. Everyone wanted to see him versus Kennith Shrader. I was slightly disappointed too cause I wanted the Shredder put him down in his place.

Garner: I forgot you were a big fan of him, Myron.

Woods: He's the big dog, man. Nobody can stop him! It would have been awesome if he had become a Don but I am glad he is where he is.

Garner: Is it true that you have bought a couple of his dolls?

Woods: Yes! In fact, I have one now. This is the Shrader Sack; this is a pretty good size doll. And with him holding the 'QB' sack there, it makes him look real tough.

Garner: I know he has his share of sacks this season. He has seven right now over last years four. Now that I think about it, with the new changes to some of the UFFL rulings plus everyone now getting back in the groove of football, everyone has been doing a bit better.

Woods: And that's what I like to see! Football will gain the popularity as the FBA did over the years. I know a lot of FBA and UFFL players are getting along with each other.

Garner: It is something all of us should be proud of. And with that, we need to take a break. When we come back, we welcome a new segment where the fans can call in and talk about the Dons and football. Get ready for that.

Woods: Taking your calls next! Only on Dons Nation! Yeah!!!
