#2 of Path's of our Fate...

Stirring from his dreamless slumber the little black and white wolf cub found himself comfortably nestled into something warm and dry. That usually meant that either he had found a nice tree with a crawl space beneath the trunk or a hollowed out tree to sleep under. Sniffing and giving a yip like sneeze the wolf pup scented the sharp, heavy tang of an older male around him. That didn't seem possible since daddy's clothing had been buried with him still wearing them and all of his gear had been rained on taking away the odiferous smell of the older black wolf, but then who's...

Opening his clear, azure eyes the little pup found himself looking into the sleeping form of a much bigger and bulkier gray vulpine male. His calm mind kept him from panicking since he realized that if he had gotten this close to the other then it could only mean that the fox was someone who he could trust or at least hadn't hurt him as of yet. Thinking back on yesterday the memories of the last thirty or so hours flooded into his waking mind giving the small wolf the reassurance he needed to lower his guard.

The older, gray vulpine yawned, showing off his precariously sharp fangs, and licked his pointed muzzle before blinking and looking down at the smaller wolf wrapped in the folds of his arms. The wolf and fox locked their gazes together for the briefest of seconds while reasserting who was who to each other as both of their ears flickered about and tails lightly beat against the floor. Depthless brown eyes gazed down into shining blue before the fox lifted the corners of his muzzle into a somewhat happy smile and licked the puppy on his nose.

The warm, wet pressure of that massive tongue sweeping over his face made the younger wolf giggle as he nuzzled close to his new guardian before yawning. Perhaps things were starting to look up for him now...

The wolf watched as the barbarian ran his tongue over his own muzzle and then suddenly stop all motion. The muscles wrapped in dense grey fur seemed tight as the fox looked about as if searching for something that was a miss making the pup wonder if they were about to be attacked. The vulpine held his arm up for a brief second before he blinked and brought his paw down to stare at it and then brown eyes turned to look to the little wolf and the pup realized what was out of place.

There was no wind blowing into the cavern.

Odd, since the morning winds should have been blowing steadily into the cave at the angle it was facing on the side of the mountain. Amending the situation, the black and white wolf reached up and waved his own delicately slim paw into the air before a light glow, reminiscent of a firefly's light, shimmered from his clawed paw. In an instant the morning winds zipped through the den area, as if being freed from a confining blockade, causing the young wolf to shudder and bury himself inside of the bulk of the fox's massive tail and curled close to his guardian for warmth.

The little pup watched as the older fox brought his arms around his much smaller form and then hugged him pulling the little lupine ever so close into his own body. The wolf grumbled happily and nuzzled the barbarian before curling back up and drifting off, however a deep rumble made him blink sleepy and then turn his head up towards his guardian. The larger fox withdrew his tail from around the pup before getting up into a sitting position and bumping his head against the wolf's body.

The larger fox yipped while looming over the wolf pup before crawling over his charge and heading out of the cave area, his long tail sweeping across the ridge of the puppy's nose making him sneeze. Smirking, the grey fox turned and barked at him. The command to follow was absolute and the pup found himself crawling after his new protector while keeping to all fours behind the other. Occasionally the vulpine's tail would wag and smack the pup in the face making the little wolf growl in annoyed mirth. If not for the difference between their respective species one might have thought them a feral parent and child pair as they made their way out into the morning.

Rising up onto two legs both males stood in dawn's early light and found themselves staring out at the waking morning with the sun just now rising from over the endless horizon. It was beautiful to one who had never been bequeathed to seeing such a sight but for the pair it was almost mundane. The grumbled of the young wolf's stomach made the pup reach down to rub his quaking tummy before whining to himself. His ears lowered on top of his head while his tail gave a pitiful wag of mutual complaint. Thoughtless of his current companion, the pup acted on automatic making his way down the slope of the mountain to look for breakfast.

However, before he could get too far away a gargantuan paw grabbed him by the tail and hoisted the small wolf up making him yip and thrash about in displeasure. Turning as best he could, the black and white lupine found that his new guardian hadn't taken too well to his leaving and gave out a harsh, vibrating snarl in retribution of his actions. The daunting spectacle of those canine incisors being bared at him made the pup whimper and go stock still, all the while his sinuous tail was trying to curl between his upside-down legs.

When the fox was happy at the other's submission he let the little lupine down onto all fours and watched him stand with his eyes held down to the ground. Nodding, the alpha fox made his way in front of his charge and then barked at him to follow, of which the little wolf did so immediately.

Down the mountainside did the pair traverse into the forest with the pup obediently keeping in step with his protector not wishing or striving to anger his guardian again. Thinking that it would be safe enough after minutes had passed into their trek, the wolf raised his head and ears up only to be met with the shirtless less backside of his companion. With only his loincloth on the pup could see the defined muscles of the fox's back bunching and flexing as he walked with absolute dominance and feral prowess deeper into the forest of trees.

His former fear having dissipated, the pup began to re-evaluate his thoughts about his new protector. He had been scared when he had been grabbed around the tail and hoisted up to be reprimanded with fangs in front of his muzzle, the pup had felt his heart thrum harshly inside of his chest before swallowing thickly. Daddy had never behaved like that; the older wolf preferring swats to the head and tail as a form of punishment, but the older vulpine was very different. Though the wolf got the impression that it was all for the same cause. The gray male wanted him to stay with him, hunger or not, instead of going off by himself.

It was really different and yet the same if he thought about it deeply. This new male in his life wanted him to obey and to stay within the boundaries of the fox's body where he would be safe. The reactions to his disobedience had been handled differently but it had ended with the same result. Crossing his arms and tilting his head to the side, the pup wondered if he would have to go through more changes with this vulpine barbarian. Wadding through his thoughts and keeping in step with his protector, the pup's ears rotated and flicked as his subconsciously listened to the fox sniffing at the air. Taking his own tentative sniffs of the air, the young lupine found the heady, tangy scent of boar...really close by!

Looking around and then bowing his head when the fox turned to him to give him a silencing glare, the little wolf watched as the older male stood on the balls of his pawed feet and cautiously gauged his steps before making his way towards a family of wild pigs. The way he moved was timed with careful precision as every step of his clawed feet were balanced on the grass to keep excess noise from sounding the alert to his presence. Flexing the claws on his hands without thinking about it, the little wolf found that he could see every sinewy muscle tense in readiness on the vulpine's back.

The gray fox's tail was ridged and his back was arched spreading his massive shoulders wide in preparation of his attack. The world seemed to grow silent save the snorting grunts of the family of swine a few feet in front of them. The little pup found that his own body had locked into position as if readying for his own blitz attack when, like a flash the barbarian struck...

In an instant the young wolf watched as his guardian leapt forward at a blinding speed letting his massive form surge through the underbrush for the boars in a single, fluid motion. The sounds of a scuffle broke out followed by terrified oinks, the sharp snaps of bones and cartilage being torn into and then a final wailing squeal before a resounding bark of triumph. The sickly sweet smell of blood coated the area along with the wet, scent of torn flesh and organs before the pup made his way to where his fox stood.

The monochrome colored wolf froze in his place and stare agape when he made his way between the bushes to see the outcome of the fox's attack. The large, grey fox knelt over a large, furry mass ripping through the flesh and hide while digging his muzzle full of the entrails of the boar. So much of his muzzle was slathered in deep red that the dark grey of his fur couldn't be seen except down his chest where the boar's blood was running towards his abdomen. He looked like a beast, more so than he already was if possible, and the little wolf felt his former apprehension awakening as never before when dark brown eyes turned towards him with the vulpine's tri-pointed ears cocked in his direction.

The fox made no show of trying to clean himself up for the pup as he stood and licked his lips tasting the sweetly, bitter life fluids of the pig. Stepping over to the pup the barbarian reached behind the pup to push him forward towards his kill before once more getting to his knees and opening his muzzle to take large chunks of the meat into his mouth. The lupine found his terror at what he was seeing and feeling being drowned out by the hunger gnawing at his own belly. Getting onto his knees the smaller wolf pushed all thoughts aside to delve into breakfast with ample relish, his own muzzle occasionally bumping into the fox's when they both sought out a tender piece of the animal

The fox paid no mind to this, choosing instead to let the pup have the piece that he had sought after while moving on to another portion. By the time they both had their fill, the barbarian eating vastly more pork than the pup could while chewing on the bones to get every morsel of flavor from the wild pig, the two stood from the kill leaving the bones and entrails they didn't want to be feasted on by scavengers. The little wolf rubbed his stomach and noticed that for once in the longest of whiles of having been out here by himself, his stomach was bulging. Smiling up to his guardian the little pup made happy yips in a show of gratitude while his tail swung behind him in a show of gratefulness. The fox snorted and patted the pup on his head fur before wiping the side of his muzzle and glaring at the crimson waste that stuck to the end of his arm.

Growling and chuffing in displeasure, the fox dropped his arm to his side and made his way through the forest once again. Not waiting for a backwards command the pup tagged along while trying to clean his own muzzle off on his ragged clothing which proved to be a futile gesture as the already dirty clothing only smeared the gunk on his fur around instead of cleaning it off.

Not more than an hour passed as the pair made their way deeper into the sentinel of tress towards the sound of gushing waters. The wolf pup having smelled the crisp scent of a river nearby looked from around his protector to see a flowing stream rushing along towards somewhere beyond his sight from a place most probably up the mountains where the two had slept.

The barbarian went up to the waters and dipped his bloody and now sticky paws into the stream letting it wash his fur clean before reaching back out and unfastening his loincloth. The wolf pup could only stare as the fur skinned material drifted onto the ground before noticing the fox's dexterous tail wave at him showing off the taunt cheeks of the vulpine's behind as he made his way into the waters. When his guardian was submerged up to his waist he proceeded to dip his face into the water then raise it up to cascade water everywhere while rubbing over his muzzle.

It wasn't hard to guess what he was doing at this point but there was a sense of trepidation inside of the wolf as he began to undress himself. When the pup stood before the older male as naked as the day he was birthed into the world he carefully eased into the cold waters some distance away from the fox. It was something new to bath like this since daddy had always let him go by himself whenever he needed to get cleaned, trusting his son to be safe in the knowledge of the animal life around him and the dangers of the forest. Now, as he stood cleaning himself in the presence of another male, a sense of modesty rose up into the wolf's being and embarrassment soon followed with the deepening blush of his twin colored cheeks.

A firm paw on the top of his head pushed the little lupine underneath the water making him gasp and drink in a large gulp of the river before wildly swinging his paws about. When the paw holding him down relaxed and let his break the line between water and air the pup turned and blinked his eyes while growling at his attacker. His assailant having been the older fox, the little pup's anger was brushed aside in favor of a deep barking chuckle like laughter. The older male seemed to have thought it a good idea to fool around at that moment and dunk his puppy before smirking and sounding his delight.

The little wolf found that his response was instantaneous and within his rights as he swept his paws through the water and splashed it back at the vulpine. Taking the attack with little concern the barbarian was not ready for the entire river to rise up and smack him down onto his back; the force having been enough to flay him down onto the riverbed before he brushed his arms to the side and make his way up for air. Upon his return the little pup had swam away, giggling in delight. Not one to let minor instances like this slide the fox swam for the little wolf beginning a game of chase and tag that would last for a while to come.

The two were of the same mind as they swam to and from each other in mock aggression; the fox having caught the smaller male grabbed him up and tossed him into the air before the black and white wolf hit the water again and sunk beneath. The wolf taking his retribution by swimming for the vulpine and then underneath him to trip the other up and fall up to his neck in the deep blue of the stream.

They continued this mischief for hours on end; playing, laughing, growling, and tagging each other until the sun grew to its zenith and kissed the sky. Having decided that enough was enough, the barbarian made a last ditch effort to capture his pup before heading for the edge of the river where their clothing awaited. The little wolf made no means to escape as he let the reassuring grip of his guardian take him away. It was odd and yet comforting to be within this male's embrace but as he realized some time ago that he had no one left to care for him, the wolf pup let loose his fears and trusted the one who brought him such happiness.

Back at the bank the fox crawled from out of the river and settled down by his loincloth before resting with the smaller male in the crook of his body. Once more they found that they matched each other almost inexplicably well as the black and white lupine nestled himself into the grey fox and settled down to let the warmth of the earth dry his fur. The larger male panted and groaned as he felt his muscles pleasurably ache from exertion he had felt only as a pup himself. Letting their thoughts drift into nothing the two quietly shut themselves from the world and drifted into eternity that happened to be each other.
