#33 of Story Commissions

A story commission done for FA: Vrli of his kobold character seeking out Thunder for the sake of some training~!

Kardukk knew he had a lot to learn about the world. As he traveled, he met many creatures, both big and small. As a being that had to simply rely on his fists and his wit, he didn't have the ability to rely on magical spells or items. Such a thing like that hadn't really entered his mind until recently. His open and curious mind led to an altercation that resulted in the kobold being able to manipulate his size. He was nothing but a knight that set out to make a name for himself only to have that name be held with some fear due to the village that he'd fought in after gaining such a power in the first place. He really couldn't explain how or why he chose to step up other than it was the right thing to do.

From there on, he had the blessing to at least make a friend out of it. Kardukk had stumbled upon an up-and-coming naga wizard under the name of Yahnastiss. The two eventually became friends, but even his expertise in magic led nowhere on the path of Kardukk mastering his own abilities. Regardless, Kardukk kept his optimism. If a sort of magic exists, they just needed to find someone who had the same, there couldn't be only one. Something like that was impossible on its own. Kardukk and Yahnastiss continued traveling across the land until something would provide them a clue. Something like a rumor, another wizard, anything that could give them some direction. The duo eventually arrived in a small marketing town and planned to stay at a small inn for the night after gathering rations.

Kardukk had heard through the market about a farmer that lived way out across from the woods that provided for a good chunk of the village. He came in occasionally with a large bounty which made sense, but the amount of time didn't. Kardukk's mind began spinning. An abnormal amount of fruits and vegetables made in a short amount of time wasn't natural. Was the farmer possibly some practitioner of magic? After gathering the stuff he needed, he ran back to the inn with the news.

"Hmm. I'm not too sure. Maybe he just stockpiles up things beforehand and pretends. Nature magic is a thing, yes, but for someone to only use it for farming and reaping the results off that? It feels too..." Yahnastiss explained, waving a hand. Most wizards or any practitioners usually wanted something more out of learning magic. It took a lot of time and effort just to learn the basics, so if Kardukk was right, that didn't make a modicum of sense to him.

"But still, this could be my chance. Can we at least see the farm? It shouldn't take too long to travel, possibly half a day if we're fast enough." Kardukk pleaded.

Yahnastiss rolled his eyes and glanced down at the kobold. The armored guy had a habit of working his way into his heart. The robed naga agreed that tomorrow they would head out after getting a bit more information from the locals. The night was spent with Kardukk's mind spinning about the possibilities. If he was right, this was a great way of figuring out how this power exactly worked. The last time it did, the small kobold was left as a hulking, ten foot monster for a few days because the day wasn't that good to him. Yahnastiss had to be his retainer so he didn't do anything silly. The only thing Kardukk did learn was that his mind changed with every bit of size he packed on. When he exceeded more than double his usual height of three feet, he started to obey his urges more than his mind.

When he faced the source of his problems, a megalomaniac wolf, Kardukk used his size to fight back, but that eventually led to more problems. He was feared by the people he saved, he had no idea how to turn back to his original size and he couldn't help but sate himself by taking it out on the land. Some said that his scent still covered that place even weeks after the incident. The night was spent with Kardukk twisting and turning before the morning arrived. He and Yahnastiss soon set out once they were given directions from the most knowledgeable of locals. The farmer lived past a dense forest and the plants made it incredibly difficult for someone to make their way through there if one didn't know any better.

It took close to an hour or so for Kardukk and his wizard friend to make it through the dense forestry. They couldn't help but marvel at some of the things that grew. A variety of spliced flowers, fruits and more that should not have even been in this location to begin with. It was awe inspiring for Kardukk, but it made Yahnastiss' mind fill with questions. When the two emerged from the forest, they were greeted to something they weren't expecting. The two were exposed to miles upon miles of farmland, some of it torn up for the sake of vegetables and some containing various fruits as well. All of them were sectioned off and made a path that lead up to a wooden cabin.

"Jeez, this place is huge. Maybe he is using some sort of magic..." Yahnastiss muttered to himself. He slid across the path alongside Kardukk, his eyes wandering around the various things coming out of the ground while Kardukk was focused on the cabin. No one seemed to be around, but they could possibly be inside sleeping since they had to constantly maintain a place like this.

"Though don't you think he would need a scarecrow or something? I man, leaving this entire field out for someone to take feels suspicious." Kardukk offered.

In the midst of Kardukk voicing his thoughts, Yahnastiss couldn't help but test out his theory. He reached out for a plume of green from the ground and tugged gently. He was met with shock as he pulled out a carrot, but this one was at least four times larger than one he'd ever seen before! The naga wizard stared at the vegetable in shock before the ground underneath them rumbled powerfully. In a matter of seconds, a large vine erupted from the ground.

"Look out!" Kardukk cried out. He acted immediately, tackling Yahnastiss out of the way, tangling himself and his friend in the naga's coils. The abnormally large carrot fell to the ground. The large vine waved around, the sharp head pointed at the two reptiles before it went for the carrot. It simply wrapped around the vegetable before retreating back into the ground like a snake, putting the carrot back into its original place.

"I guess that answers my theory...Thanks." Yahnastiss grunted as he tried to re-arrange himself and his coils.

"It's no problem at all. One would think I'd be the one to do that." Kardukk chuckled.

Before the two were allowed to converse further, the door from the cabin was slammed right open. They were too far away to hear who or what had emerged, but it probably was not happy. As the figure walked closer, they surmised that this was farmer. The large, overly muscular green dragon had nothing but a pair of blue, dirtied overalls on. A large mane of black hair had been tied back to make a pony-tail, his muzzle decorated with wooden plates and two black whiskers that dangled off from the side. The green creature towered over Kardukk, putting him at more than double his height. Yahnastiss had the same bit of trouble as without his coils, he only came up to the male's chest.

"Okay, one of you two want to tell me why you decided to try and take my food? I work hard to make all this and I really don't want to do this talk again." The dragon grumbled, scratching his chin with a yawn. "Was having such a nice nap too till my alarm went off."

"Alarm? You mean that large vine?" Yahnastiss mentioned. "Are you by any chance-"

The dragon nodded in response and held a hand in front of the naga's face. "Yeah, no reason denying it when you saw it for yourself. Is there something you'd like?"

From there, Kardukk explained his situation. He pointed out that if the dragon -who introduced himself as Tarran- could increase the size of his farm grown things, he could do the reverse and possibly figure out a way to do the same for him when the time came. Tarran mumbled a bit to himself before inviting the two reptiles inside for lunch. After situating themselves in the small dining room, Tarran listened to their story over the meal and was left digesting everything for a few moments.

"Jeez. And here I am being born into it. Well, I guess I can help in any way I can. Don't know how much good I'll do since I don't really practice my magic all that much." Tarran explained.

"Born? You didn't learn how to do all this, it was just a talent?" Kardukk questioned.

Tarran nodded. "Somewhat, but I still had to practice. The growth thing is another matter though. I don't really have a space where I can help you. From what I understand, you're worried about damage and hurting others, right?"

Kardukk nodded in response.

"Well, if a place exists where we can do that, I guess I can help." Tarran offered. He glanced at Kardukk and Yahnastiss before the snake coughed.

"I think I can do that."

"You think?" Tarran said. "I don't know you, so it doesn't fill me with much faith."

Yahnastiss shrugged his shoulders. Kardukk looked at him with starry eyes at the prospect of having a master and a place to practice. Yahnastiss sighed and told the two to leave him alone for a few minutes to prepare for the trip while he did the same to send them off. Once the time had passed, the outside of Tarran's cabin had been outfitted with a circle of runes drawn into dirt among even more signs and symbols that neither Tarran nor Kardukk recognized.

"Alright, I just need you two to step into here and I'll do all the work. Where you'll end up is somewhat of a mystery to me. After a few weeks or so, I'll pull you guys back. Got it?"

Tarran and Kardukk nodded as they stepped into the circle. Tarran had suited himself with the same pair of overalls the duo had found him in, as well as several bags of clothing and food. The information from the naga had him slightly worried, so he figured over-packing was the best thing to do since there were two going on this trip. He'd asked Kardukk if he had any belongings, but whatever he had on him and in the pockets of his armor was all he possessed.

Once the two were in the circle, Yahnastiss pulled out an orb from his clothing. Tarran couldn't hear what he started muddling, but the circle underneath them became illuminated in light. The light soon became too much to bear, forcing Tarran and Kardukk to cover their eyes. In a burst of light, the two disappeared with a voice fading into the distance that simply said "don't touch my stuff".

Tarran and Kardukk were soon shot off to a destination only known to Yahnastiss. They had little idea of how long or how far they had to travel, but once the light faded and they were allowed to open their eyes, they weren't at the farm. A large city greeted the two, buildings soaring into the skies and beyond. Nothing but the sound of the wind flowing and the occasional cry of an animal filled the air. Tarran and Kardukk stood in the intersection of an empty street, the magical circle that thrust them here engraved into the ground. Tarran grumbled and rubbed his eyes for a few moments

"Well, that was something...Where are we anyways?"

Kardukk scanned around the area. He squinted his eyes, focusing for any signs of other life. Not a soul or any indication of one could be found from their location. "Maybe we could look around?"

Tarran and Kardukk spent their first few minutes in this odd city searching for any signs of life. They wandered upon a few stores filled with product, but no one at the stand or garbage. Everything was clean as if they cleaned up the place with everyone in it. The two soon stopped near a presumably empty apartment building, Tarran fiddling with the door. Why the heck was the entrance locked if no one was here? He grumbled, fiddling with the door for a few moments before taking a step back.

"Well, no time like the present to get to practicing. Hey, Kardukk, was it?" he glanced down at the kobold. "Do you have any idea of how to change your size off of what you've experienced?"

Kardukk shook his head. "Well, no," he crossed his arms in thought. "That's what I came to you for."

Tarran nodded and took another deep breath. "Well, one way is anger. While I don't suggest since I'm a peaceful guy," he grunted. "There's days where I can't help but let some out...!"

He tensed up his arms and cracked his knuckles. From such a close distance, Kardukk could see the dragon's demeanor changing from a small frown to an angry snarl. His already large body started to strain the straps of his overalls, his arms pumping larger and larger as veins danced across his forearms. The dragon's shadow covered more and more of Kardukk whilst Tarran's body packed on muscle and height slowly with every breath he took. The kobold could see something glowing from underneath the overalls, but his attention was focused on the process going in front of him. Tarran soon stood at several feet over his usual size and muscles that looked like he could contend with a tank and win. The straps of his overalls had snapped in the attempt to contain his broad shoulders and traps, the front falling in front of him and revealing his overly pumped up torso.

Tarran grabbed the handle of the door and tensed his arms again. With a deafening roar, he flung the door off of the metallic hinges and threw it behind him with a snort. The door hit the concrete with a loud thud that echoed through the air. Kardukk stood in place, half expecting someone to hear the sound and find them despite them not finding a single person. Tarran took another deep breath and turned towards Kardukk with a hesitant smile as he scratched his chin.

"Haha, there we go. Dang doors never want to work the way I want to. Shall we go in?" Tarran gestured inside. The doorframe was just above his wide, bullish neck, forcing the overbearing dragon to crouch just to fit inside. Kardukk lead the way, glancing behind him every so often towards Tarran. It was obvious to him that he was incredibly intimidating, but something attracted him to it. Every few seconds was spent making sure that he wasn't noticed trying to ogle a bit while he tried to find an apartment room they could both fit in. During his glancing, he noted an odd looking gem centered on the dragon's chest, nuzzled right between the large fuzzy green mountains.

Once caught staring, Tarran tensed and bounced his chest.

"U-um, sorry, I was just curious about the thing on your chest..." he couldn't help but stutter a bit as Kardukk stared.

Tarran waved him off and pointed to the nearest apartment door. With the most gentle tug that he could muster -which still had the door hanging off the hinges- Tarran crouched inside, Kardukk following suit. Kardukk sat himself on what seemed to be a small, but comfy chair while Tarran was forced yet again to sit on the floor near the couch. The couch itself groaned in resistance from the weight of just his own tail, which was enough to tell him that he had to be careful.

"Okay...so the first thing I should mention is this," Tarran pulled the emerald from his chest. Kardukk noted that it wasn't just hanging there and it was tied together on a thin string. "It's something for me where I can control my own powers. If I didn't have this thing on...I guess I can say I'd be a lot bigger." He chuckled.

"Do you think I need that to help me?" Kardukk asked.

Tarran let the emerald fall and neatly nudged it back into the crevice of his mighty pecs, his tail thumping along the poor couch. "Well, no. Since everyone is different, you might have your own method of control that I don't. That's kind of why we're here. Can you try growing and seeing what happens in a confined space? Maybe you'll have a bit more restriction here." He offered. "Like I said, emotions are also a big factor. Like I said, I'm really not good at teaching..."

Kardukk nodded. "It's okay, I'm grateful you even said yes. At least like that, I don't feel alone." But he did give him some nice pointers, even if he didn't think he was. Kardukk didn't have much to focus on other than the first incident. He took a deep breath and slipped into a meditative position, legs crossed over another. He thought about the first time he grew. At first, it was shocking and confusing among other things all at once. The buildings he knocked down with his tail and feet had him scared to no end. His body tensed. What if that happened again? He couldn't afford to sacrifice lives just because he didn't know how to control it. He couldn't think like that. He would get this down, no matter what it took.

"It was even kind of fun..." he thought. Never would he have imagined that he could tower over even the largest of trees. Kobolds were destined to be small, but he broke that rule just by existing. As he focused, a smile brought itself onto Kardukk's face. He admired the strength of his muscles at that size, every flex bringing numerous amounts of power and speed that he never possessed in the first place. The image of Tarran ripping the door and slowly crushing the couch in front of him flashed through his mind.

Kardukk took another deep breath. Tarran watched intently for any signs of change. The first was a light blue aura slowly surrounding the small kobold. With every breath Kardukk took, the aura coated his entire frame and slowly propelled him bigger. The leather straps of his armor started to strain as their three foot owner slowly propelled into a five foot creature with a musculature that shamed most swimmers. Kardukk could only keep going as if it were natural from him. Tarran observed with bated breaths, saying nothing in the possibility that his speaking would ruin Kardukk's focus. Ever slowly did the kobold force his body to swell. Every breath forced his chest further and further, the white scaled pectorals gaining enough mass to lose a few fingers in there. His arms were no short of weapons themselves as Kardukk slowly made his way to eight feet, and then nine in the blink of an eye.

"Ooh, nice! I think you're reaching the ceiling at this point though..." Tarran spoke up. He hoped that he didn't disturb him, but even if the place was empty he had no desire to destroy it. Kardukk's eyes opened after being spoken to and he blinked in surprise. He let out a deep rumble as he stared eye to eye with Tarran. He blinked for a few moments before he licked his lips and pounced at the dragon in front of him with all the new force he'd obtained.

"H-hey! This isn't really the right place to be doing this!" Tarran yelled. His cries were soon silenced by Kardukk mashing his muzzle against Tarran's in a ferocious kiss. Tarran attempted to push him away as they tumbled through the poor apartment. The couch behind him had been destroyed along with any other furniture until they hit the wall with a powerful thud. Tarran had his back against the wall, his chest meeting Kardukk's and effectively becoming pinned as he was forced to share a feral smooch. With closed eyes, Tarran surrendered himself for the moment. The two males effectively naked, their bodies pushed together with all their strength and then some. The light blue aura floating around Kardukk's frame seemed to explode in size at the same time Tarran's gem began to enshroud its owner in a green light.

As they continued their smooching, Tarran's body continued to swell in size, then Kardukk would follow suit. Something tugged in the back of Tarran's mind as they traded saliva and mingled tongues. It was if the kobold in front of him was sapping him of what he had, or simply borrowing it for his own fuel. He didn't get much time to figure it out for himself before he closed his eyes. Whether or not he was being used as a power source via kissing, he had to admit that Kardukk knew his way around a mouth. He twisted his muzzle to effectively 'lock' himself with Tarran as their backs destroyed the walls that kept them in the apartment.

In a burst of blue and green light, the apartment complex quaked before two large bodies erupted out of it. The two males kissed and groped, large green and silver hands roaming across their frames. The poor building structure crumbled and fell upon them like cardboard as the lower levels were trashed by their thrashing tails and feet. Everything down to the large twin shafts wedged between their chiseled abs was met with attention and grinding. The two large beings finally laid upon the ground with Tarran on his back. A large quake shook through several blocks as the two beasts resumed their avid make out session.

Progress had occurred, but training would have to wait, at least for now.
