#4 of Pokerus Outbreak

This was my first ever commission I had received, relating to the Pokerus Outbreak universe I had built. It was certainly interesting, and this actually was a big part of the plot as it'd turn out.

A few months have passed since the outbreak of Pokerus. Humans still remain getting infected and transformed into Pokemon. Many scientists have tried to make vaccines and medicines for it, but to no avail. Many experiments require a Pokemon with Pokerus or a pre-transformed human with Pokerus. However, due to the high risk of finding a cure, many scientist have to be exposed to the virus in order to make a medicine and perform tests, but usually failing to make one a cure that works in time and ends up a Pokemon. Most scientists worked alone, for the fear of turning into a Pokemon was too great for their assistants; who most often released the Pokemon after the Pokerus was gone back to wherever they came from or their families if newly transformed. With Pokerus infecting Pokemon seemingly out of no-where, many people were looking for cures in order to stay with their pokemon. This often brought sorrow to those who kept pets as Pokemon, sometimes parents unable to put the Pokemon into their balls until a vaccine was made.

In a hidden little place in the corner of Celadon City was a small organization, who were determined to make any kind of cure, even if temporary. The leader, Wildstar Thelix, was the one who found a few people to help the cause. Many of the workers were very careful to not contract the virus. Proper protection was used in order to avoid getting the virus, wearing hazmat suits as a precaution. It was actually a successful way of doing tests. No one had contracted the virus and it worked. Things went pretty good for a while, they were making great progress on some kind of vaccine for it. Then, one day, a co-worker by the name of Tom changed everything. Tom's was getting ready for work while she was making breakfast. However, when Tom came out of the bathroom, instead of his wife, there stood a Beedrill. Tom ran up and hugged his transformed wife, not caring he too would become a Pokemon. Tom went back to the lab to be tested on, but came in when no one was wearing their suits, taking the day off with no Pokemon in the building. They all greeted and circled around Tom, patting him on the back forcing a handshake on them, Tom not being able to tell the truth. Tom knew soon they would all be Pokemon. The entire team with the exception of Wildstar, who stepped out to go get food had been infected. While they were talking, Tom snuck around and flicked the porch light on, a code meaning a hazmat suit is needed if you don't want to get infected. This was only true for the daylight hours, as they stopped working before nightfall. When Wildstar returned and saw the light on, he put on the suit hidden in the back and opened the door. When he did, he saw all kinds of Pokemon come out. A doduo and Rattata ran out, while a Pidgeot and Chatot flew past him. An ekans and Rhydon came out along with a few others. Upon seeing this, and clothing piles on the ground, he knew that somehow his entire team had contracted the virus. He went into the station to see papers scattered everywhere and the ground cracked and equipment broken. It would appear the new Rhydon didn't know his own body and caused small earthquake in the lab, the flying Pokemon accidentally using gusts of wind scattering papers, falling into the giant holes left by the Rhydon. With files completely scattered, computers damaged, and only one team member left, he gathered all the papers and threw them in a briefcase before heading back, to defeated to even change out of his suit.

Wildstar arrived back at his home, throwing down his briefcase on his home office desk. That's when his very young daughter came back into the house from the backyard, holding a Caterpie. "Look Daddy! Isn't it cute!" his daughter said blissfully unaware of Pokerus. Wildstar looked at it and knew, it had Pokerus, he'd seen enough infected Pokemon to know, and that meant his own daughter now had it. "We can't keep him, he has to go back to the wild okay?" he said taking it from her, gently releasing it into the wild. He entered back into the house, only instead of his daughter's human form, stood a small shiny Girantina. Wildstar stood stunned at his daughter's new body, and she ran over and brushed against him in what appeared to be happiness, Wildstar running his hand against her back, crying on the inside of this helmet. Wildstar was forced to test on his daughter, in hopes to find some kind of cure. Once her Pokerus went away, Wildstar continued on the work his organization had done so no one would have to go through what he was going through.

A few years had passes and a vaccine was made. However, it only lasted long enough for the transformed Pokemon to be cured of Pokerus(one week). This allowed for people to be with their transformed loved ones without having to worry about getting the virus. Later, it would be discovered if someone with Pokerus took the vaccine before they transformed, it would stop them from changing. It was celebrated, however it would soon be discovered that the human who was infected would become sick, and could be fatal if dosage wasn't stopped. No one died from the Pokerus vaccine, doctors caught the side effect early enough. However, scientists would discover Pokerus is fatal to humans, so in order to keep them alive, Pokerus alters the DNA of the human to turn them into a Pokemon, allowing them to live out their life, despite being in a new form. Most people could last roughly a month before the Pokerus caused fatality if the vaccine wasn't stopped. The creator of the vaccine, Wildstar Thelix, was often criticized and even threatened for releasing a dangerous vaccine. It gave humans hope and they believed this pandemic was over, but once it was taken away, many turned against him. This caused him to take shelter in his home, becoming somewhat of an outcast and hermit. It was only him and his Giratina daughter in his life. He had time to adjust to her daughter's Pokemon form and saw her in it, still loving her no more than she was human. This didn't change the fact he hated himself for letting this happen to her. He felt regret for not telling her about the dangers of Pokemon right now. Wildstar's daughter's Pokerus was long gone, being able to touch each other like an uninfected Pokemon.

Wildstar had many angry letters written at him, but he never checked it. He paid his bills, and tried to make some kind of reversal for Pokerus. One day, there was a knock on the door, nothing new. However, it kept going on, and it was coming from the inside. At first he thought it was his daughter, but he looked over and she was sleeping on her new bed for her Giratina form. Wildstar got up and looked around. He went into the other room and saw a Ghastly standing in front of him. Wildstar stood right in front of it, looking at it straight in the eyes. He knew that this Ghastly had Pokerus, and since it was in his house, most likely someone who had used his vaccine and wanted revenge. It licked Wildstar, and left him to his newly infected body.

Wildstar went to his bathroom and took the vaccine, refusing the become a Pokemon. He continued his work until his time came. When he took his vaccine everyday, his daughter would come and try to knock it out of his hands, but he refused to not take it no matter what. "I CAN DO SO MUCH MORE!" Wildstar yelled as his body was starting to stop functioning properly. "I'd rather die as someone who gave those hope, then become just another Pokemon..." he said to himself. "It's just not fair..." Wildstar said, a tear coming down his face. His daughter noticed and went over to him teary eyed. "Your a big girl now. Take care of yourself, be your own person, help people, I l..l..ove...you...." Wildstar said collapsing to his death. His daughter wept her Pokemon cry for a good while. A little while after, a spacial rift opened, and out stepped a real Giratina, that saw the little one crying over a body. Wildstar's daughter noticed this and begged for the Giratina to do something. Giratina couldn't stand to see one of it's own kind crying, and decided to help her out. Giratina formed a kind of shadow ball and shot it into Wildstar, which caused his body to morph.

Wildstar grew to extra pair of legs, totaling six. They became bigger and clawed as they became round, his legs becoming shorter but just as big. His body grew much larger as it became draconic. His skin turned a bright white color, as marking formed on his legs and back of rainbow color. A long white tail identical to the color of his skin and scales grew out from his large body. Rainbow scales formed on his back and his neck. Wildstar's neck also grew much longer, while rainbow half rings forming around it. A grey stripe that ran down vertically his body formed. Two white wings with rainbow spikes formed from the back of his neck, growing very large and taking on a ghostly form. Lastly his face morphed as his jaw became bigger. His hair left him replaced with a red star on his forehead and dragon-like horns of a lighter shade of red. His face formed into a kind of helmet shape, becoming orange. There was white scales on the front and top of his head. Wildstar's sclera turned black as his eyes turned red. Lastly, Wildstar's gender swapped, making him a Giratina Mother. Wildstar opened her eyes and began to get up.

Wildstar's daughter was overjoyed for her father to be back, giving a "kiss" to Giratina, causing it to blush. Giratina noticed Wildstar was about to have some kind of breakdown, potentially a rampage, it shot a small shadow ball at him, causing Wildstar's mind to go blank. Wildstar forgot about ever being human or any of the work he had done to fix the Pokerus problem. She also forgot her daughter was ever human, thinking she was always a Giratina. The only thing Wildstar knew was that she was a mother, and her daughter was the only thing that mattered. Giratina left the world back through it's portal leaving the mother and daughter alone. Wildstar's daughter ran up to her and they held in an embrace. Something in the back of Wildstar's mind made it feel like she wasn't ever going to see her daughter again. The mother and daughter held the embrace a long time, before breaking and beginning to go out into the world.
