The Reaper

Zach did his rounds making sure all of his guards were where they were supposed to be then he went back to his room. He came up to the small door to the prison cells and he looked at the one guard and said "I'm here to take care of the prisoner."

"I'm sorry sir Zach but the king said that the execution would be set for three days from now." Said the guard

"I never said I was going to kill her I just need to get some information from her that's all." He said

"Well I guess that's ok...but I should check with the king first."

"Are you calling me a liar? Who is your commanding officer?"

"You are sir." He said bowing once then opening the door to the prison

"That's good now show me what cell she's in."

"She's in the last one and the only prisoner at the moment." He said

"I didn't say tell me I said show me." he said in a voice that made the small guard shrink down and almost run through the door

He started to walk and as he did Zach made sure his fist was covered well by his armor. Then he hit the guard in the back of the head knocking him out. Zach picked up the key he had been holding then hoping he wouldn't remember this when he woke up. Then he made is way down the last cell. He found Amy sleeping on the hard ground her beautiful body bathed in moon light.

As they started to make their way back down the hall and toward main door Amy stopped and said "Wait Zach where is my sword. I can't leave without him."

"There's no time to explain but I need to get him back. He is my partner and my father's old weapon."

"Ok whatever...Most weapons' that have been taken from prisoners were taken to the armory. We're in luck because it's on our way out I just hope they were able to get it there."

"When I last saw it eight knights were trying to move it."

"Why didn't you help? Fang should know you are my friend and he should let you pick him up without much problem."

Zach was a little confused but he shook his head and started to walk on again saying "I tried to help too but you yelled that you hated me when they took you so I think...Fang...Didn't' want to trust me. I just wish they hadn't taken it from you where they did."

They snuck around the halls for a while keeping an eye out for any guards. After sometime passed they came to a large door that Zach opened. They found themselves in a large room filled with many different kinds of weapons. Amy ran over to a far wall and spotted her sword. It was lying on the round like a piece of scrap with its sheath next to it.

"They'll pay for doing this to Fang. Well there isn't any time to worry about it now." She said putting on the sheath then Fang. The large blade seemed to glow a little bit as she picked it up and threw it over her shoulder and on to her back.

"You're right...We don't have much time left anymore the guards change in a few minutes and you have to get out before they do." Said Zach

"I understand but Zach how are you going to get me out of here?"

"I'm the one who is in charge of the entire guard now that Collin is gone. Just follow me and you'll see." said Zach heading out of the armory and toward the main exit.

She followed him as they made their way to the main court yard and toward the gate the lead to freedom. When they got close Zach had Amy hide in the shadows as he drew close to the guards. They held their pike's high in the air and said "Hail The Demon Knight Sir Zach Riot, First Lieutenant of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights."

"You don't have to be so formal you two."

"Sorry sir but it's expected of us." Said one guard

"I know it is but don't worry. I need you two to get ready to leave at once. Your replacements are running late tonight and I was told by the king to keep an eye out at the main gate. His party will be leaving shortly and he doesn't want anything bad to happen to them when they leave." He said

"We understand sir and thank you for the break. We know that we change in a few moments and are getting tired." Said the same guard, they both bowed then walked off leaving Zach to stand at the main gate alone.

When they were out of sight Amy came out from hiding and ran over to him to say "That was amazing...You were right. You can do anything you want with your power."

"Well not anything but I do have a lot of power. Now get on the other side of the gate and wait for me by a house." He said

"But I thought you would help me get out of the city?"

"I will but first I need to wait for the replacement's to come. If they get here and find the other two had left their post early then they could be into trouble. I don't' want any of my furs to suffer the king's anger over me."

She smiled and said "I understand...I'll wait for you then." And they she ran off into the night.

Zach smiled and stood guard at the gate waiting for the replacement's to come. It didn't take long for the two to show up walking slowly up to him with a look of shock on their faces. Zach put on his best frown and said "You two are almost late. I had to send the others away."

They bowed and one said "We are sorry sir we had no idea we had been running late, please forgive us."

"Since you weren't too late then I'll let you off this time. Listen I'm on my way into town to visit the grave of my father. I'll be there for a while as I morn his death getting ready for the second year of his passing." Said Zach

"We understand sir. Have a nice walk."

"I will thank you." He said then he too walked away into the night.

It didn't take long for him to find Amy hiding behind a house. When she came out they started to walk down the empty streets. As they did Amy asked "So what now?"

"We'll go to my old place and talk for a bit." Said Zach his eye's falling some what

"I thought you hadn't been back since he died."

"I haven't but I have a maid to go clean it up once a month just in case I need to go back."

"I see." Said Amy but she didn't say anything else as they walked

The walk didn't seem to be as long as he had remembered. Soon they found themselves walking up to the old house, barn, and Len's Forge. The word that used to be right above it now was faded but you could still read "Mayberry Blacksmith." A tear ran down his face as he said "Come on let's go in."

They did so and Zach lit a candle to light the room up some. He sat down at the table along with Amy. They looked at each other for a long moment he said "Ok I got you out of the jail but now you owe me some information."

She let her head fall a bit then she said "I can't tell you much but I'll do my best."

"Then tell me where I can find Raven or Mary?"

"Find one and you'll find both. But do you know who they even are?"

"No."

She smiled a little then said "Well then I'll explain. Raven and Mary are the top of The Leader's Private Guard called The Full Moon Core. They were made for only one thing and that is to take down the kingdom. As you know that Twenty-three years ago the war with Savage ended but before that Raven and Mary were told to assassinate the King. When Savage vanished The Leader pulled out for some reason. To this day we never knew why. Raven and Mary still work for the leader as spies. No knight in the kingdom has been able to kill them or best them in battle. I am part of the same group and my reason for entering the Kingdom as a knight was to get close to the king and to gain information. The Leader may have ended the war but he still wants the king taken down."

"So if I'm right you had been sent to kill the king. If it wasn't for what I had just overheard him say I would have killed you for that. But still what does that have to do with me and finding them."

"I'm getting to that. Raven and Mary are both my leaders and I have to report anything I know to them. I will be able to take you to them tomorrow."

Zach sighed and said "I'm sorry but I can't go with you."

"Why not?" she said looking shocked

"I have to go back to the king and try to stay in his good books."

"What if he finds out that you helped me?"

"I'll figure out something but I have to get any info on him while I can."

"Ok fine then I'll just have to tell you how to find them, but if you try to hurt them in anyway then know you will be killed." She said and once he nodded she continued "You have to travel to the small town of Conto. Once there look for a pub named The Dragon's Eye, Go in and talk to the bar tender and order a Dragon's eye, when you do this he will ask for a password. When he does you say "To be a King." He will let you into a secret room where Raven or Mary should be."

"Ok then...Thank you for telling me this." He said getting back to his feet "You'll need to get going now."

"What but why? I just got here."

"The king will know you're gone soon and he'll look in every home to find you. Listen I know we may not see each other again so please stay safe." He said

She got to her face showing some kind of sadness on her face. She turned then quickly kissed him before running out of the door saying "Don't get killed."

He sighed then looked around the house that until two years ago he had lived in. He could still hear Len yelling at him for something or see him cooking at the small stove as he sang a marry tone. He could feel tears start to run down his face again as he thought about it. He walked out of the house and started to walk back to the castle. When he grew close to it he could tell that something was going on. The guards were out and running around and away from the castle. Two of them came up and stopped to bow to him.

"What's going on?" He said knowing what it would be

"The wolf you captured earlier has escaped only a few moment's ago. The king was looking for you."

"I thought I saw her running off but I wasn't sure. I'll help you look for her right away."

"No sir the king wants to see you at once."

"I see ok then get back to work and don't by any means hurt any of the city furs."

They bowed again and took off. Zach hoped that Amy would have gotten far away. He made his way back to the castle and into the main throne room. He bowed to the king trying to keep himself for leaping toward him as he said "You summoned me sir."

"Yes Zach I found out that the Prisoner got away and the she may have had some help."

Zach smiled and knew at once what he would have to do. He let his smile show and he said "King Esper I know she got away because I helped her."

His face grew angry and he yelled "Why would you do that?"

"She knows where to find the two wolves called Raven and Mary. My information tells me that Raven and Mary can help us get to The Leader of the wolves. I think he may be in with Savage this time even if he wasn't last time." Said Zach

The king seemed to calm down at once and he said "Wow I'm impressed you were able to do that. I guess we can let one go if we get Raven or Mary. I wasn't ever sure if they had lived through the war. What do you have in mind Zach?"

"You see sir I want to go to the place they are hiding at in Conto and get them myself." He said

"You won't be able to take them along."

"I won't mind taking a few Knights with me."

"Well then I guess I have no other choice but to let you do it. It seems like every time I start to mistrust you, you surprise me every time. You may leave tomorrow morning." Said the King

Zach smiled and bowed as he started to move out of the room. As he did a tall old looking grey hound walked in and said "My King."

The king turned to look at him and he said "Xelna it's good to see you. You know what you need to do with him right."

"I do my lord, do you want him dead or alive."

"I want him to pay for this. Do to him what you see fit." Said the king with an evil smile

"Yes sir." Said Xelna bowing and making his way of the room too following Zach as he walked on

"Wait up Zach." Said Xelna

He turned and said "Xelna what can I do for you?"

"The king wants me to go with you tomorrow two if that's ok."

Zach's mind started to go wild wondering why a wizard was needed for this but he managed to say "Ok its fine with me. Be ready to leave at 06:00 hours."

"I will Sir Zach." Said Xelna walking off

The next day Zach had forty furs line up with Xelna with them and they all started off for Conto. Conto was a small village that wasn't too far away from Maybell. It only took them eight hours to arrive; Zach had them all set up camp on the outside of town so that way they wouldn't scare away anyone. Once camp was set up he called a meeting in the middle of it.

Everyone surrounded him looking at him with the same face of fear that most furs wore when around him. He grinned for a moment then said "Knights of the royal guard welcome to Conto. I know you have all came with me on this mission to help me capture or kill to wolves that are at the top of The Leader's inner circle. Now Raven and Mary are very dangerous but also they scare quite easily so we can't take the chance that they will run. I will head into town and find there hide out. I'm going to watch them for two day's then we will go after them. Once I know everything I will return. While I'm gone I will be leaving Xelna in charge."

"We won't listen to a Wizard sir." Said one of his furs bowing to Zach

He grew angry and punched the fur then said "One more little outburst about this and I'll kill you myself Johnson. Xelna was told to come on this mission by the king and anyone who doesn't listen to him and his rank means that you are disobeying the king himself."

Xelna walked up to him and said "Well put Sir Zach."

"You can't let them get an inch on you or they'll eat you up. I have to get going are you sure you can handle them."

"Yes I'll take care of them just make sure you don't lose them. I'm here to hold them back when they try to escape. Raven is a strong spell caster." Said Xelna

"You don't think I'm trust worthy well then ask me the password and if that isn't enough then maybe this will be." He said lifting his chest plate away and showing him his Markings.

"Ok then what is the password?" he said

"To be a King." Said Zach

The bartender looked shocked then he said "How do I know I can trust you still?"

"My name is Zach McVanson." Said Zach

The Rottweiler's eyes went wide then he said "I see...ok then follow me."

The bartender had Zach go behind the bar with him then he led him to the back room. He walked over to a wall did something and it opened up to a stair case that went down. He looked at him and said "Just head right down and miss Mary will talk with you."

"Thank you Oh and if any other solders come in saying they are with me don't believe them ok."

"Will do." Said the bartender walking away

Zach turned and started down the stairway trying to let his eye's adjust to dim light. Finally he made it to the end of stairway and he walked into a large room that had charts and paper work all over the place. It looked like a war room to Zach. He looked around at the weapons and charts that filled the walls then his eye's fell on tall grey furred wolf with long black hair that he knew he had seen before.

"That's true. I have so many things to ask you."

"I know you do and we have been expecting you, but first I'll need to ask you to re move your armor and shirt." She said

"Why?" said Zach looking a little confused

"It's because she needs to see your marking's." said a deep voice from behind him

Zach twisted around and he almost fainted when he found himself facing a tall wolf. He backed up a bit then looked up at the face of the wolf. He had bare chest, he stood at least seven feet tall, had jet black fur, long dark blue hair, and blue eyes. He was ripped and looked like he could rip off Zach's head. On his chest was what looked like blue raven markings that reached around his sides and shoulders. He had a large blade that at his side that was wide. The blade looked normal but its blade went down past the hilt to make a kind of guard.

He stood let his smile widen and he said "Hello Zach it's been a long time."

He backed away a little more then said "Who are you?"

"I'm Raven second in command under The Leader and in charge of The Full Moon Core." Said the wolf

"Good it's nice to meet you I'm..." started Zach but Raven cut him off

"Zach McVanson or Riot when you are in the kingdom, Called The Demon Knight and First Lieutenant of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights. I know many things about you Zach." Said Raven "Now do as Mary said so we can check you out."

"I want some answers first."

"To bad you have to do what we want if you want us to trust you." Said Mary

"Amy had told us about this but I wasn't sure if she was right. Listen Zach it's time you found out the truth about who you are." Said Amy

"What is it Mary?" Said Raven

"What are you guys talking about?" said Zach

Mary spoke this time "Zach you have to understand that we all took oaths in the old tongue to do what the leader and his mate told us too. They had to do it and if they didn't' you would have died."

Zach looked down at the floor then said "I guess I understand but can you tell me what this Reaper thing is?"

They both looked down then Mary said "Zach the sign of The Reaper is a bad one. There has never been a wolf with the mark of The Reaper that has been good. Even old Leaders have lost themselves to the love of death and fighting like you already have shown. You will become more powerful than Savage himself who has the second most powerful marks The Death Markings. He may fear you because of that but I'm sure there is more to it. The rest of the prophecy said that you would take him down and that is why we had to keep you alive. We didn't know what your power would be until you grew up. I wish it wasn't like this."

He looked away from them remembering what he had done to Ken then he said "I can feel the monster in me but I'll try my best to hold it back. But still I wish I could have met my mother. From what Len told me she was a beautiful Husky."

"The real king?" asked Zach

"Yes the real king his family has taken power from the old king's family and taken away the history showing this. But like I said your father will explain more. We will be off to see him tomorrow, he will be happy to see you alive again." Said Raven

"Well that may be hard, for you see the king knows I came here and there are Knights and the Wizard Xelna." Said Zach

Raven's eyes widened "Xelna that pain in my side I feared he was around here I can smell his nasty magic from here."

"Do you know him?" asked Zach

"Know him ha...We trained under the same master before the Savage War. Well we will find a way out of here somehow for now let's get some sleep. Will you knights find it strange if you don't return right away?" said Raven

"They won't mind but I would like to talk a little more."

"We can do that tomorrow off to bed with you then." Said Mary walking over to him "Come I'll show you to your room."

She sheathed the weapon and twisted the chain around her. She then ran to the main hall of the underground hideout finding Raven waiting for them with the Bar Tender who had blood on his face.

"What happened?" asked Zach

Raven looked at him anger in his eye's "Your knights couldn't wait it seems like they are burning the city. We have to go save the people."

"How can we, there are only three of us." Said Zach

Raven looked at him and said "We are wolves...well your half wolf but still. We may be small in numbers but we can take down the little bit of knights you brought with you."

"That may be true but what about Xelna?" said Mary

"I'll take care of him that old fart can't beat me anymore." Said Raven

"Well I'm not sure if we should but let's go. I don't want to serve the king anymore. Let's go." Said Zach pulling out Viento and bolting it together

Raven looked at in and said "What's its name?"

"I see the Wind Blade then. Have you figured out its full power?"

"Then is it a he or a she?"

Zach looked at him for a moment then said "What?"

Raven smiled and said "Don't worry you'll understand one day. Every blade made with magic has a mind of its own. I will tell you more about it when we are done with this."

Zach smiled and wondered what he meant but he didn't have time to ask more because Raven set down the bar tender and ran up the stairs. They made it out of the bar without any trouble but once they did they couldn't believe it. Most of the homes were on fire and Knights marched down the streets killing anyone that got near them. Zach ran toward them, once he was close he saw that they weren't all his fur's that he took with him.

Zach stopped in front of them and said "I am Sir Zach The Demon Knight Tell me what the hell you are all doing."

"Xenia orders sir by word of the king kill the ones called Raven and Mary and everyone in the town as traitors. And kill The Demon Knight too for helping the prisoner escape." Said one Knight drawing his sword

Zach smiled knowing the king would try this. He held Viento's long hilt harder then he said "I wouldn't try to do that if I were you."

"We aren't scared of you." Said the other knight and he attacked. He only got a few feet before Zach attacked taking off the knights head. Before the head could even hit the ground Zach attacked the other knight killing him too.

Blood pooled on the ground and Zach just walked over it heading toward the center of town. When he reached it he smiled at what looked like one hundred Knights attacking it. His smile widened and he said "So this is how it's going to be then so be it King Esper. I'll show you why I'm called The Demon Knight." And he attacked slashing his sword at every fur he met.

From the other side Zach could see Raven and Mary fighting and killing Knight after knight. Zach worked his way to them going back to back with them still fighting off Knights. Raven laughed and said "Zach I'm sorry but this won't work we need to run. The town's furs are safe now. The Knights are to powerful I think they are under a spell by Xelna."

An idea came to Zach's mind and he smiled then said "Raven can you get Mary out of here?"

"I can why?"

"I'm going to take them all down with my power just get out of her as fast as you can."

Raven looked at him with wide eyes then he said "I better fly then...Mary come here we're leaving." And with this his markings started to glow and out of his back came large blue raven wings. He took hold of Mary and jumped into the air leaving Zach behind to fight the rest of the Knights.

"Wow." Said Zach then he drew on the power again reaching deep within his mind. Almost at once his fur changed black, his markings gold, and his wings came out. The marking spread all over his body giving him a golden glow. The Knights around him stopped looking at him with horror. This time his power felt ten times stronger and he smiled as he sheathed his swords. He cupped his hands together and started to push the power toward his palms.

A dark orb showed itself inside his palms. He then looked at them all and said "Die." He then shot his arms out letting the orbs power come forth. A blast of energy shot out killing whoever it touched. Zach started to turn his body to take out the entire circle. They started to run from him and Zach started to laugh.

He was almost done when something took hold of him. The blast stopped and his body changed back to normal. He wasn't sure what had happened until Xelna walked up to him. He had a hand up and he was smiling "Sir Zach I'm sorry I had to be to one to do this but King Esper sees you as a problem and now I can see why. I would love to kill you but I can't...My real master Savage wants to do that himself. So I'll just have to send you away. If you are never found then they can't say I killed you."

"I'll kill you. No matter where you send me I'll come back." Said Zach laughing again

He smiled and said "It's not a where more like a when. I don't think you'll do too much damage if I send you let's say 1500 years forward." Then he closed his eyes and started to chant in a funny tongue.

Zach tried to fight the power holding him but it was no use a golden circle appeared around him. Then something flashed and Zach vanished. Xelna smiled and said "Good bye Demon Knight."

Zach found himself falling through what seemed like blackness then he landed on some hard black stone. He got to his feet and looked around when out of nowhere a car flew by him. He drew a sword and looked on as another car came toward him. He yelled "Die metal monsters." And he used a wind power to slice the car in half.

The two furs driving it got out looking at him with shock then they started yelling "Come on man. What was that about?"

Zach held up his sword confused and he said "Back you I am a Knight of Raseri, I'll kill you."

A crowed had started to form and walking by was a tall black fox with nine tails with silver tips, long silver, silver markings under his eyes, and silver crescent moon on his cheek. He looked over and saw a white fur holding a sword and wearing black armor with a red cape. He could see the two he was fighting with pulling out guns. The white fur didn't even seem to care so the black fox named Tamati walked over to them.

She got between them and looked at the two furs and said "Hey you two come one now can't you see this fur is confused. Now put that away before I call the cops."

"Look what he did to my car." Said one fur

"Well is it insured?"

"Yeah."

"Then don't worry about it and worry about the ten pounds of weed I can see coming out of the trunk." Said Tamati pointing at the sliced car

They both looked back they said "Yeah he's right lest get that out of here before the cops show up."

As the two talked Tamati turned to Zach and said "Sorry sir my name is Tamati and if you don't want more trouble I suggest you come with me."

Zach looked around still not knowing what was happening but he said "Ok but I have to know what's going on."

Tamati lead him away and as they walked he said "What do you mean you're in the city. You should not pick fights in this city and I would like to know how you did that to the car."

"I don't know what that was." Said Zach

"What how could you not know you from the days of Kings and Knights?" said Tamati

"Yes I did." Said Zach

Tamati looked at him and laughed "Funny man."

Zach pushed him into an ally then said "Don't believe me then find I'll tell you who I am and why I'm here." Then he started to tell Tamati everything that had happened to him.

When he was done Tamati looked at Zach then at the two tails' then said "You are the Demon Knight from history. It's said you vanished right before the war. I find this hard to believe but I've seen stranger things. Only one person to talk to with something like this we need to go see Nik. I think he's at the club at the moment."

"What is a club?" asked Zach

Tamati smiled and said "Oh man do I have things to show you. Come I'll explain a few things as we go." And Tamati lead Zach off still confused...
