Ventaar species
Ventaar V1.0 (See my profile description if you have stumbled upon this and wonder what the world this is about.) -
Intro-
The Ventaar are a alien race who have carved out a massive empire amongst the stars. They are a warrior society who have been in various conflicts for generations. On top of their military might they are well known for their skill in massive ship design, construction and genetics. Their soldiers they have a reputation for brutal assaults that never seem to end. With wave after wave of ships and soldiers. Additionally they like to take whatever life bearing worlds they stumble across. Especially if there is intelligent life on them they deem inferior. Most recently they took earth as their own along with its remaining human population. Referenced in Ventaar historical records as the Seven day war.
Physical attributes-
Ventaar males stand seven feet tall. The females a foot taller. They are a heavily built, physically powerful people. Coated in a layer of scales across the whole of their body. They have clawed feet at the end of digigrade legs. A thick tail tapered to a rounded tip. Five fingered hands with short but sharp claws. They have a rounded snout with powerful jaws, filled with double rows of teeth.
Scale color for males tends to be shades of green, black and browns. With black being a rare color. A common Ventaar will have three tones on their body. A primary color with a softer shade of that same color in a pattern across the body and soft metallic highlights typically copper or bronze. Royal bloodlines stick out by having a primary color only. Solid black, green, etc. Sometimes they have very slight markings in a lighter shade to the primary color. Females are marked the same as males but are typically reversed in color scheme. With metallic being a base color and highlights of earthen tones. Royal females retain solid metallic colors with the occasional near invisible secondary pattern.
A Ventaar has frills that serve as not only ears but as a color changing display of emotion. Altering color depending on how they feel at a moment. This also serves to easily give away when they try to lie. With a great deal of practice they can control this reaction but it is hard and will fall apart under questioning. Additionally changes in a their emotions will alter their scent more so than other species.
Males have external balls and sheath. The penis is long and slightly tapered and rib lined. The penis colored red.
Their sense of sight and hearing is roughly the same as a humans. With females having slightly better vision. Their sense of smell is extremely good compared to a human. Able to detect scents to some degree. Enabling them to easily detect emotional changes in other Ventaar.
Mental disposition-
An aggressive species in war, trade and diplomacy the Ventaar are of a mind that sitting back and doing nothing will result in their species ending up the same. It is only through action that their species will become the dominant in the galaxy and as such gain power to ensure their peoples future is bright.
They dislike lies and tend to be an honest people. They feel that deception, while important in war, should be avoided in person. They find it rude for the most part and will consider people who lie regularly to be inferior and as such not worthy of any respect.
Females are the superior of the two genders. Ventaar females have a sharper mind and a majority of the time they are not only stronger than males but able to out think them.
Society-
Ventaar have an advanced society controlled by royal families controlling individual clans tied together under a supreme ruling family and its clan. Each clan has its own slant on how the empire should be run. Some are more brutal, others more progressive. Every twenty years a vote is cast amongst the ruling families to see who will be appointed the supreme ruling family. Currently the same ruling family has be elected three times in a row.
They have a layered caste system. Starting with two primary classes. Warrior and worker class. Where a citizen is placed is determined by a combination of many factors. Family standing, caste of the father and mother and genetic analysis are just some of things considered. The placement can also change up to a certain age. For example, a youth placed into the warrior caste might be shifted to worker if they show skills better suited to that area. This flexibility is to allow for any mistakes made during the placement process to be corrected.
These castes break down further into areas of Ventaar society. Medical, scientist, leadership and many others. One might be of the Warrior caste, royal leadership. While another could be Worker caste, engineering laborer. There is also flexibility within each caste. Someone who didn't place well might later learn the skills to move up the ranks. This is not only normal but encouraged.
Lastly there is a section of the Warrior caste designed for conscripts. A class of low respect it is the home of those who make too many mistakes, piss off the wrong people, perform criminal acts or just cant seem to find a way to be beneficial to Ventaar society. This happens to be the only way a worker caste can end up as a warrior. Anyone in this particular warrior subclass can gain promotion into a more formal warrior caste if they perform very well. Giving even the lowest rank hope.
They have an economy much like humans but with a much different approach. They believe every citizen has the right to good health. As such all health care needs are free. Their leadership has several sectors of the economy under complete control. Setting price and profit limits to prevent abuse by companies. There are exceptions. Such as luxuries which are allowed to compete openly in a free market. In general the power of the economy is held firmly in the grip of ruling families and those they favor.
Education is focused on finding what caste a child is best suited for. These schools are small and very intense. Exposing their young to a variety of skills and activities to narrow down what would best suit them. These young Ventaar are given enhancement chips upon entering school to help with the placement process by monitoring their responses on a very personal level. Once placed the schooling continues but now is very highly focused. Allowing a youth what they need to know for their caste quickly. What job a student is offered when schooling ends depends on how well they performed like most other species. Graduation age for Ventaar is fifteen years old. Additional schooling may be performed or requested depending on placement opportunities.
Ventaar are allied to several races voluntarily a part of their empire. These are younger more violent races who see the Ventaar as their way into the universe. As well as something to be admired. Only respected races are offered such a position. These races sometimes only have only one planet and focus on producing goods or resources for the Ventaar war machine. None so far have fought alongside Ventaar save for a few very brave volunteers or mercenaries.
Additional alien populated worlds were taken by force. This includes earth. These worlds were taken for their own good. With the native populations being considered inferior on nearly every level. These populations are reduced and the planets turned into production worlds to further the glory of the Ventaar empire. With the native populations serving as the workforce.
The act of genetically modifying a portion of captured populations is a recent one. Starting only in the last few generations. Some races simply cannot stand extensive genetic changes and only recent advances have allowed for consistent results. Past attempts have had limited success with those altered populations pushed into service as cannon fodder in battles. All but the last two attempts are extinct. These last two populations are very small in number but are stable and part of the warrior caste as slaves.
Concerning wolves-
The newest addition to the Ventaar empire is earth along with its remaining human population. Humans have been surprisingly easy to genetically alter. The easiest the Ventaar have ever encountered. This has allowed them to be very creative with their newest slaves. Making wolves a highly successful addition to their ranks.
Wolves are not a random creation. The plan to alter humans to this form began long before the invasion. After examining various earth species and finding normal wolves to be quite appealing. Discovery of werewolf legends along with various human movies and art concerning the subject certainly served as part of the inspiration as well.
They are also the first true companion species. Designed to integrate with every aspect of Ventaar society. Suitable for battle, service, companionship, fun and mating. An exotic and beautiful predator species. Delightfully willful but compliant. Obviously the wolves, being new, are very rare. But the demand for them is through the roof.
Wolves are technically a warrior slave species. Which has caused some problems between progressive and traditional Ventaar. As the bravery of wolves and their performance demands rewards. While their designation as warrior slaves says they should never be given such benefits. This movement started when, during one massive battle, a Ventaar and wolf pair disobeyed direct orders and slipped behind enemy lines. Causing chaos amongst the enemy. They are credited for single handedly turning a defeat into victory.
