Introduction

Hmm. Not sure if this is an introduction for something, or what it could be an introduction for. I'm just bored and felt like writing. I'm going to regret putting this up... I think I'd quite like to continue it, though.

Now I'd never claim it was love at first sight. To me, the idea of such seemed so abstract, so ridiculous, despite being something that I craved - an impossible dream. I can, however, comfortably say that the very first time I saw him I was astounding by his appearance; a sharp jawbone, a sharp gaze, and an even sharper fashion sense. Ii was so overwhelmed that I had turned to Lauren, a close friend of a good few years with whom I had - and still have - embarrassingly few boundaries, and had poked, prodded, and scratched at her to draw her attention without making noise enough for him to hear, only for her to finally look around after he had turned a corner... That day had been a taster session for college, a day a few months before college officially starts for students to go and look into demonstrations of whatever classes they were considering. This, much to my chagrin, mean that I wouldn't see... Him for another couple of months.

Again, you'll never hear me saying that he occupied my every waking thought, but by the time college started I had imagined several different personalities for him, seven or so different ways for me to initiate contact with him, and countless ways or me to humiliate myself in front of him and never be able to look him in the eye again.

So... When college started, everything and everyone went slightly crazy. Despite all of the lectures about how the workload would be significantly higher than at secondary school level, none of us were quite prepared to be working up to 10:30 or so at night from the moment we got home. The main thing that kept me from a complete mental breakdown was Lauren. We met up after college every day, did as much work as we could bear before building a blanket fort, or baking some cupcakes, or watching terrible TV... And, of course, she started telling me about a very cute guy who had appeared in one of her classes once, and never returned - evidently he had been in the wrong class, and felt too embarrassed to leave. Someone with amazing jawbones, beautiful eyes, the best (or second best, as she had hastily corrected herself... As she should have) fashion sense... Now, it's all very clear what happened in hindsight, but let me tell you - it took us a lot longer to connect the dots and realise we were both fantasising about the same person when we were in the thick of things, when we were trying to balance our college work on top of our incredibly busy and important social lives (ha! Kidding). But even after Lauren pointed Him out across the common room, and we both finally managed to connect 2 and 2 to make it 5, even after we both decided to do whatever we could to help the other person even talk to him, it took us well over a month of staring and dreaming before either of us actually spoke to him.

And oh my god; he was actually gay for a change.
