Chapter 20

The Long Arm Of The Law

"Officers, I'm Max Badger, Owner of this Club." The wolf stepped up. "I'm Officer Canus, and this is my partner, Officer Procyon." he said, indicating the raccoon femme, who nodded her greeting.

"Thank you for responding to this situation so quickly," Max said. "This is Miss Laura Treecat, One of my guests...she was assaulted on the dance floor."

"Can you give us a description of the perpetrator, Miss Treecat?" Officer Canus asked.

"I can do better than that Officer," Max beamed. "We've got him in the holding room here." Pointing at the door marked 'Da Cooler' with a large Grizzlies paw print below the lettering in ice blue.

"Hey! Let me outta here! I ain't done nothing! Geeze, can't you people take a joke?" the ferret exclaimed from the other side of the steel door. Officer Procyon noticed how Miss Treecat cringed at his outburst as she took her aside.

"Miss Treecat? I'm Jo-Ann Procyon, Could I ask you a few questions please?" she asked, taking out her notebook and moving to the far side of the office. Laura nodded nervously.

"Could you please tell me what happened here tonight?"

"Well, I was out on the dance floor, they have a great band here tonight and I love 80's music." The Raccoon nodded, writing down the information.

"...and just kinda getting lost in the music, ya know? And then I feel this paw sliding over my ass and...down between my legs...so I scream! The next thing I know this HUGE Griz is there and he has a ferret in his massive paws. I realize hey! That's the creep who grabbed me, so I take a swipe at him." She held her paw up claws extended. "But Bruno, his name's Bruno, the bear...has him out of reach, he then folds the ferret into a ball and has me follow him in here. He threw him in there," she pointed, indicating the cooler. "...and asks if I'm okay, then Max comes down telling me you were on the way...did you know Max feels that the furs who come here are his _Guests_not customers?" the cat paused. "He seemed more upset about this whole thing than I am..." The Raccoon smiled. "Max thinks I should throw the book at this guy, so what are my options Officer Procyon?" Laura asked. "That guy reallycreeps me out."

"Well, let's see, We can arrest him, the charges I can see so far would be second-degree assault, taking indecent liberties, lewd acts in public, and attempted sexual assault. If you wish to press charges that is? If you would excuse me a moment Miss Treecat, I need to confer with my partner a few moments." Laura nodded.

"Well Jack, what do you think?" she asked her partner.

"Well, Max there says this guy tried to play grab-ass with one of his waitresses a few weeks ago, they threw him out--so he hasa history of attempted assault." the wolf said. So, What've you got Jo?"

Reviewing her notebook, Jo-Ann Procyon shook her head. "She said the perp ran his paw under her skirt, over her backside and between her legs, she screamed and the bouncer was on it in a second, balled up the perp and threw him in the cooler. I think she will press charges, both the owner over there and the bouncer encouraged her to do so...what do we have on the perp?"

"Don't know, but we can tag and bag him, we've got him on indecent liberties, L.A.P. and attempted sexual assault. So if he has any sort of record he's toast." his partner nodded.

"So, shall we see what we have behind door number two?" The wolf grinned at his partner. "Okay Max, Open 'er up and let's see what we've got." the wolf said and Max obliged.

"About time you got me outta there, who the hell are you?" the ferret demanded as the door opened.

"I'm Max Badger, Owner of this establishment. If you forgot from the last time we met when you assaulted my waitress."

"Oh, ..Why the hell did your big goon lock me in here?" he interrupted the badger but fell silent when he caught sight of the Gray wolf in the cop's uniform. "Aaw...shit..."

"Larry!" The wolf grinned at the ferret "Long time no see, well, well, well...guess where you're going?" The Wolf advanced on the ferret, who placed his paws on his head.

"Got to give you credit Larry, you know what to do..." The wolf said as he cuffed him.

"And now, the moment we have all been waiting for...You have the right to remain silent...come on Larry, you know this by now, let's hear you sing it out..." As the wolf read the ferret his Miranda rights, leading him off to the squad car, Max approached his partner.

"I take it you two know this guy?"

"Oh yeah, Larry Lidecker; Leisure Suit Larry we call him. He and Jack go way back. It seems he was out on parole," Officer Procyon said, a slight sneer on her muzzle. "Some furs just don't learn. Miss Treecat, if you would please accompany me down to the station we can swear out a complaint and lock this guy up." She said, indicating the cuffed ferret her partner was leading to an awaiting patrol car.

"So, do you think they will throw the book at him?" Laura asked the Raccoon fem.

"That waste of fur? Oh yeah." She said with a feral grin. "This makes his third strike, he's gone! He'll never assault another fem again. I only wish he'd try and run," she said patting her service automatic, "It'd save the taxpayers some money." She winked at Max and Laura.

Max came out into the club looking for Bruno and spotted KC. My God, she was stunning in that turquoise frock; fitting her like a glove--lucky Glove, Max thought with a chuckle.

"Welcome Back KC!" Max beamed at her as he stepped up to the bar.

"Max!" Kacy cried throwing her arms around the well-dressed badger. "Is Saturday okay?" She smiled at her friend.

"Sure, the boys are looking forward to it, so how have you been?"

"Well, aside from wanting to stuff my boss into a beer keg, Stubborn Collie!" she grumbled, then brightened. "Hey, I'm on vacation. So I don't need to worry about him until I get back. I've got a date with that big ol' cuddle bear of yours, and life is good Max, life is good. How about you?" KC smiled warmly at the badger.

"Max shrugged. "Life is what it is, you know?" he smiled at Kel and Gwen. And how are you lovely ladies doing tonight?"

"Well, thank you Max. " Gwen nodded to the proprietor. Kel stepped up to him, placing her paw on his shoulder and looking deeply into his eyes.

"Thank you, Max. For your kindness, for your compassion, and for giving me the opportunity to work for you." she said softly and kissed him on the cheek.

"A-Are you feeling all right my dear?" Max asked, somewhat nonplussed by his waitress's actions.

Kel smiled sweetly, "I'm fine Max, it's just I've never taken the time to thank you, I reallylike working here, and I've never told you just how much I appreciate the opportunity you gave me, that's all." Wow, he thought, she really means it...

"Thank you my dear, you have always been like the daughter I never had." He smiled at the lovely vixen. "If you will excuse me, I need to speak with Bruno for a moment."

The badger took his bouncer aside. "Good job there, my friend." Max said as he surveyed the crowd.

"So the cops haul him off to the poky?" Bruno rumbled, watching the band getting ready for another set.

Max nodded. "Oh yeah, We'll never see him again, Officer Procyon said he was on parole with a history of assaulting femmes, and this will make his third strike, so he's history." Max grinned dusting his paws as if to wash his paws of the matter.

"Dam, And here I wuz hopin ta be able ta fit him for a new set a shoes..." The Bear chuckled ominously. "You are a dangerous fur, my friend, and that's one of the things I like about you." Max replied, "Have fun with KC, just remember, she needs to be here on Saturday, and you need to be here Friday...so don't over do it, okay." He shook his head, chuckling as he made his rounds around the club. "Ah to be young again."
