#2 of Requests

Buck's been working awfully hard lately, and Meadow finds the perfect way for him to unwind.

Done as a request for ANGart on Furaffinity. A bit sappy, but I love writing happy couples fluff. :3

The head of the maul rose skyward before being brought down by two strong, brown-furred hands. It struck the splitter wedge true, and the halves of pinewood fell to either side of the stump. The deer moved them to a cord in progress, then paused for a break. He rested on the handle of the maul. Small puffs of white marked his breath in the chill October air.

Meadow watched her husband Buck as he started chopping again. Warm water and dish soap played through the chestnut fur of her hands and forearms as she scrubbed the dishes. It's his birthday, she thought, and he's out there chopping wood. He hasn't even asked for anything. Her eyes distantly focused on his red and black flannel shirt as she rolled ideas around for how to treat him. Motion caught her attention and the deer looked to see Buck waving cheerfully at her. She smiled and waved back through the kitchen window.

The act of waving had bumped her sizable belly against the sink. Meadow looked down at her pregnant tummy, at the life she was nurturing, and felt a warm glow. It's awfully cold out there, she thought, scrubbing at a stubborn patch of eggs. And that's really hard work... Meadow looked out and saw that the pile of wood to be split had significantly decreased since she'd started pondering. I bet he'd like a nice long soak after this... Of course, she thought with a playful grin, there's nothing that says that I can't join him... Meadow set the last plate in the dish drain to dry and set the scrubbie to one side of the sink. She grabbed the towel off of her shoulder and rubbed the water out of her fur. "Paper, paper, paper," the deer murmured, looking to leave a message for her husband.

One of the things they'd splurged on in their country house was the enormous two-person tub that quietly ruled the master bathroom. It easily held the two of them, even allowing room to cuddle or wash each other. The only, only downside was that it took what felt like forever to fill up enough for both of them. She sat on the edge of the tub, idly swirling the water around through a thick layer of bubbles. Fluffy white suds reached halfway up her forearm. Buck loved bubble baths, though the deer would never admit to it in public.

She shut off the water just as the door opened behind her. "Looks like I made it just in time," said her husband, smiling warmly.

Meadow got up from the tub. Her lips met his in a brief kiss. "You do remember that it's your birthday, right? Relax a little," she said, holding both his hands.

His lips tugged upwards in a smile. "I know," he said, "but the wood needed chopping, was all. Don't want the two of you getting cold, after all." The deer ran his gentle hands along her belly. Buck's fingers combed over her blouse.

A deep blush warmed her cheeks. "Oh, stop that you. This is your day, and your bath," she said, pointing at the tub.

"Our bath," he corrected, slipping his hands under her shirt. Warm hands stroked from the front of her belly to the small of her back, tracing her waist along each pass. "May I?" Buck asked, gently lifting the hem of her loose shirt. Meadow nodded, and he carefully pulled her shirt off. It came to rest on the bathroom counter. Deft fingers unbuttoned the flannel shirt he wore. Her hands traveled up his white-furred chest and his shirt slid off of his arms. Pants and underwear were gone in what seemed like instants.

Buck stood there, pausing to admire Meadow's beautiful nude form. Her belly had grown with the new life inside of it. No matter how many times he caught sight of it, or ran his hands through the fur covering her pregnant belly; he always smiled.

"Are you gonna come in, or are you gonna stare all day?" she asked, taking his hand and gently tugging. "Nuh-uh," she said to his offering gesture. "You first."

He knew far better than to argue. Buck took a slow step forwards. The bubbles were so thick that for a moment he wasn't quite sure when the water began as he climbed in. Liquid warmth enveloped his legs and the lower part of his torso as he settled in.

Meadow climbed in behind him. She slipped one leg around either side of his waist, drawing him close for a hug. Her belly pressed into his back as they embraced. "Scoot forward please?" she asked as they drew apart. "I wanna rub your back." He started to protest before being silenced with a light tap on the neck. "None of that! You've been chopping wood for hours, you need a good massage."

Buck couldn't argue with that. Nor was he terribly inclined to.

She grabbed a nearby cup from the rim of the tub and dunked it underneath the water. With a sloshing sound, Meadow brought it up through the bubbles and tipped it forwards. A quiet sigh of contentment passed through his lips as the water flowed down his furry back. The cup dipped again and again, until every inch of his back had been soaked in the hot water.

Her fingers dug in soon after. Strong thumbs worked to loosen the knots formed by the day's hard exertions. Shoulderblades were the first target of hers, followed by his shoulders proper. Buck's arms followed on the list. Fingertips and palms massaged at the muscles in his upper arms. Meadow worked on his sides before drawing him against her and rubbing his pectorals. Her belly was sandwiched between them as he leaned against her. The deer seemed to melt into the water under her touch. She couldn't help but love the silly grin plastered to his face.

Finally, Buck turned somewhat to the side and stretched out. His head and muzzle rested against her pregnant belly while one arm curled protectively around it. Brown and white-furred cheeks lazily nuzzled against the soft fur of her stomach. Loving fingers slowly combed through her fur. "I love you so much," he said, nuzzling closer and stroking her belly. His breathing slowed, and she could feel him starting to fall asleep.

"I love you too," she replied, gently tousling his hair. The deer placed her hand over the one resting on her belly. Comfort glowed deeply within her. It always did when her husband held her like this. "Happy birthday, my love," she murmured to her now-dozing husband.
