As the larger feral rushed at them, Samuel's mind pinged. "I.. I got it!" He cried out. Before Quox could ask what he meant by such a statement, the Abra grabbed onto one of the Zoroark's legs. The area around Quox shimmered brightly as they appeared back in the forest. Still, there were changes here. Many trees had been knocked over and there were a few small fires that churned gray smoke into the air.

"Was that Teleport?"

Samuel nodded weakly as he rubbed at his temples, "It takes a lot out of me, especially if I bring passengers along for the ride. I'm not sure if you noticed... but I'm not the most talented psychic around."

"I've noticed." Quox readjusted the snoring Bastian on his shoulder, "Okay, so where did we port too?"

"Just outside Simis." Samuel explained, "I've been here a few times. Last time was a few days ago, in fact. I thought it was safe enough to port to."

"Safe enough? But we were heading here, why didn't you port us before?" Quox asked with a raised brow.

"Well..." Samuel rubbed his arm uncomfortably, "Many mon don't know how teleporting really works. You have to visit a place, sure, and you can port back based on that image, but you have no idea on how the area has changed. If it's been a few days, then there's no need to worry. But... if it's been weeks, or months. Maybe even years, then there's more reason to worry. The spot you envision in your mind to port too could be.. covered up. What if you port and you end up inside a wall, or inside a tree? What if you end up porting and ending up inside another mon?" He shuddered, "That's the fear there. If we do go porting anywhere, then we have to port to a place we've recently been. Or one that has a teleporting safe zone."

"Got you." Quox made his way through the grass terrain, "If there's this much destruction here... " he stopped in mid stride, "... Then did the ferals hit Simis first?"

"Perhaps... they did come from the north, now that I remember." Samuel stated, "But if Simis was hit, we would have received some sort of warning. They have messenger birds there. They would have alerted us."

"Unless the birds were killed." Quox quickened his pace as he dashed through the small bushes that clumped together on the jungle floor. He soon made his way out to a clearing with no road in sight. "... The sun is down. We'll need another way to tell north and south."

Samuel soon came bursting out behind him, huffing a bit but not looking too weary. "Should we try searching for the road?" He asked.

"I'm not sure... I want to find Simis... but we got off of the road and the sun isn't around to help us."

There was a snort from his shoulder, and Quox was quick to let go of the squirmy Bastian. "Wha I miss?" The Hitmonchan wearily asked.

"Well, almost getting eaten." Quox said with a weak smile, "We're trying to get to Simis, but Samuel teleported us and we have no idea where we are in the forest."

"The road?" Bastian asked them.

"We can't find it." Samuel admitted. "Perhaps it would be best if we just... wait. The sun will come up in a few hours. We can take the time to rest and get our sense of direction back in order."

Bastian frowned at that, shaking his head, "That's hours we'll be losing then. There are tons of mon still alive back in the village. We need to find a messenger and quickly set up a rescue operation. Simis has the troops we'll need."

Quox dragged a foot against the ground, "... There were lots of crushed trees back there." Quox stated. "Samuel did teleport us up north... and if those signs are there... doesn't it mean the ferals tore through Simis before coming to us?"

Bastian narrowed his eyes, "Don't even raise such an accusation. We'll get to Simis and we'll get help there. I know these woods. I've gone to Simis with my pa plenty of times. We'll just find a landmark and get our positioning there."

~~~
Choice A : Quox's choice : Perhaps we should not try to find Simis at all. If they came from the north... then there's a huge chance they already tore Simis apart. We wouldn't find any help there.
Choice B : Bastian's choice : We have to get to Simis, it's the only shot we have. Once we get there, we'll have help, and everything will be fine. We need to look for a landmark in the meantime.
Choice C : Samuel's choice : We should wait until morning. We can use the sun to find our way around then and get to Simis then.
Choice D : Reader's submitted choice.
(As a side note from here on out, readers CAN submit choices where a particular move is made by a protagonist. I'm honestly surprised no one remembered that Samuel could teleport around. Do note Samuel's early warnings up top. Haphazardrous teleporting could lead to someone getting stuck in a tree, after all.
In regards to the next chapter up, it'll be much longer. There's a lot of stuff that will happen. Same rules as before, get your votes in by Saturday, this time being the 19th.)
