Cody sat outside the Tumbleweed saloon with a wet towel wrapped around his small body. He was cold, his nose was running. He sniffed and wiped his nose with his hand. His hair was already dry from the intense desert heat but his jeans were still soaked. Cody lost his favorite hat in the lake. The young boy was covered in green algae and smelled like a swamp . Ms. Lily quickly ame outside with Cowlamity. She picked the boy up in her arms and hugged him tightly hugged him tightly. "You poor thing", Ms. Lily said "You've really had a hard day haven't you". then she kissed him. "Ms Lily, Cody protested.

They went inside the saloon. Ms.Lily removed the wet towel from the boy and threw it on the floor. Sadie brought a wash cloth and a bucket of warm water. She placed it on the bar and washed the boys chest gently. Cody was embarrassed by the attention he was getting from the three women. Cowlamity went outside and took an old horse blanket from her saddle which she brought inside and used to dry him with. Ms. Lily stood lifting his arms and wiping his armpits with a bar towel. "Aw Ms' Lily," Cody said "I'm to big for this." When the boy was cleaned. Ms. Lily lifted him off the bar and down to the floor. He was still wearing wet jeans. "You'll have to stay here until closing," Ms. Lily said. " And you'll have to be bare chested until we get home. Cody covered his small chest with his arms and looked at his feet "It's a good thing it's so hot today," Sadie said

Sadie looked at the little boy. "And it's a good thing your so hot," she thought looking at Cody's chest with a smile. "If I was a few years younger."

Cody spent the rest of the day sweeping the floor and cleaning the bar. He went outside to take out the trash, it was so hot that even being outside for a few minutes made his armpits sweaty. Sadie could barely keep her eyes off the young boy. "What an adorable little chest you have," she said hoping he wouldn't hear her.

"Last call!" Ms. Lily yelled. The customers finished their sasparillas and left the saloon. "Come on Cody," Ms. Lily said "let's go home."

As soon as they got home, Cody immediately went upstairs to take a warm bubble bath to clean the remaining algae off his body. He took off his jeans then climbed into the water. He sat in the tub scrubbing the smell off his body. He felt ashamed that Cowlamity had to save his life because he couldn't swim. All boys should know how to swim. Cody had been invited to many swim parties during the Summer but couldn't go and never gave a reason.

Ms. Lily set the table for dinner. "Cody," she yelled "Dinners ready!

"I'm comin," he yelled back climbing out of the tub, The water was a brownish color. He wrapped a big fluffy towel around his waist and went to his room. He put on a pair of jeans but it was still to hot fpor a shirt so He didn't bother . Cody knew Ms. Lily wouldn't mind if he sat at the table bare chested.

"Cody?" she said when he sat at the table "Where's your shirt?" He stood up rubbing his chest.

"Never mind," she sighed " just sit down and eat your dinner."

While they ate Ms. Lil spoke "Cody I've been thinkin." she said.

"I think you should start swimming lessons," she said " I want you to be safe in the water." Cody gave her a surprised look. "Who's gonna teach me?" he asked.

"I'm too busy with the saloon," she said drinking her coffee. Ms. Lily had seen the way Sadie was eyeing her adopted son all day so asking her to teach him was not an option."Moo is too busy with marshaling and Dakota is visiting his friends in Cowlifornia." Ms. Lily sipped her coffee.

"And I wouldn't dare leave Sadie alone with you," she said looking at the innocent young boy.

"So the only other person would be Kate," she said. Cody smiled.

"Ms. Kate is gonna teach me to swim?" he asked shyly looking at her.

"she told me all boys should be able to swim and offered to teach you at the lake tomorrow morning." Ms. Lily took a piece of bread and spread some butter on it."Meet her at the lake in the morning."
