Chapter Two: Two Weeks and a Multiform

As it made its way out of the ocean and the ancient parasite found a world very different from the past. Using its psychic power's it started to float down the wood covered streets. It swam through the darkness and found a large creature walking down the street. Its black and white skin and oily skin that reflected some of the light that was coming from everywhere suggested that it was an orca.

It swam behind the orca and opened its large mouth; it hinged out its teeth and latched on to the orca's head. It started to try to shake him off but the orca was unable to detach the parasite as it shrunk itself and entered though a pore.

It easily passed the blood-brain barrier and entered the brain where it hooked on to a nerve. It started to pass a new hormone into the orca's body and control of the body was passed to him. He passed control of his powers to the body, which he now controlled. With the hormones, the body would only give and take electrical commands from him. A new back-up nerve would grow down the spinal column which would provide him a backup or a way to hide if he needed to.

He looked around and saw a hospital near him, for his power he would need to form a link in order to use it. He walked in and quickly grabbed the back of the head of an attendant who was standing around. He formed a quick psychic link and the attendant was knocked out.

His body shifted it took on the form of a lion and the clothes he was wearing changed into that of a hospital uniform and the code-id badge he need to get in. He made a smug look on his face as he entered the elevator and when up a few floors.

"I coming for you QZ, and trust me you'll never see me coming."

...

"So, how do we know that was real?" The Captain asked as he followed a beacon signal that QZ had picked up on. They were currently questioning their sanity, after they woke up on the beach both with memories of a strange spirt both telling them about the same thing.

"Scanners indicate that there are no historical indicators to suggest we slipped into another world, Hitler did not win WW2 nor did his robotic counterpart win WW3. There are no random paint splatters and every painting seems the same." QZ said as he scanned his records.

"Well then, look at this there's a massive settlement right here and I've never noticed it. How far away from the hydrosphere are we?" The Captain asked as he plugged QZ into the trucks navigation system, hoping that plugging in the crocodile would allow him to use the faster processors.

"All navigation systems are fully activating." The truck beeped off as the screen on the GPS screen switched from the grayscale image and changed into a three-dimensional model of the local area. The engines hummed a different noise and a tube connected to QZ and a black swarm of something came swarming out of the tube and into the truck.

"QZ, what's happening?" The Captain asked as he looked behind him. The welding between the truck and barge seemed to be strengthened. The metal on the truck became shiner and the rust disappeared before another layer appeared on the truck.

The water engines sounded cleaner and more efficient. The solar panels grew larger and fell to the floor before an automatic rotator formed on their buttons. An edge formed on the barge and over that a clear roof formed, with a tiny hole for the machine gun.

"Memory banks indicate that nanites has exited body and upgraded ship to comply with current Space OSHA compliances." QZ said rambling off as the nanite swarm returned to his body and he looked around with his mechanical eye. "Take the tour."

QZ grabbed the lever and pulled it. The chair smoothly lowered into the larger cabin, which was much cleaner and much more spaced out. Behind them there was a door to the sleeping cabin, which was changed from climbing through the window.

In the sleeping cabin there were large satin sheets laid over the much softer beds. They exited the cabin and went onto the barge that had a layer of a soft material laid over it.

"My god, this is glorious." The Captain said as he pressed a button and the dome over the barge was lowered into a tiny storage area, allowing them to bask with in the sun. He looked around and even the minigun looked shiner and as did the ammo attached to this.

"They are going to love you when I take you back to the hydrosphere, so may problems that can be fixed up." The Captain said as he noticed they were currently speeding towards the settlement at a rate that he could have never imagined.

"Current speed towards island suggests that unless actions are taken quickly, the boat will crash into the island." QZ said as he noted the action. They both shuffled into the main cabin and raised the seats out of the cabin.

"Well then, buckle in robot, because let's see if the blue button does a drift." The Captain said as he pressed the button. The seats quickly lowered and the roof above them sealed, behind them the dome again raised and sealed the boat as an airtight closed system.

The two engines turned up and pushed the ship downwards. The ship dipped beneath the sea where there would be a clear and straight path right under the floating settlement.

"Wooooo!" The Captain said as he really pushed the engines never feeling a speed like the ship's before. He looked around, he could not see the sea floor, which would be miles below him but he could fishes and life all around him.

The Captain saw this as an opportunity and increased the speed of the engines. They sped under the settlement and slowed the craft to a full stop. The boat popped to the top of the sea and the roof lowered again. They popped out of the truck's cabin and looked around.

"Simulation incurs that the action that recently occurred was risky and multiple outcomes would have led to complete and mutual destruction of the settlement and the boat." QZ said, though The Captain felt that QZ could not help himself, as he was all programing.

"Brighten up; you're connected to the computer. If something bad were to happen, you would have taken over and controlled the ship. Your three laws dictate that you have to prevent any harm to any humanoids." The Captain said to QZ.

"Wrong laws were updated to only prevent complete enslavement of humanity, humanity can be harmed but robots are forced to obey one singular master." QZ explained as he secretly turned the boat towards the settlement.

They looked forward and wondered what would await them at the island.

...

The multiform walked down through the bowels of the settlement looking around as he tried to find the highest person of power within the city. He looked around and found a police station.

He walked inside of the station and looked at the police officer attending the desk. The multiform looked at the police officer as he walked to the counter. He quickly jumped over the counter and grabbed the police officer by the head.

He smiled as he transferred the parasite through the body and into the police officers body. He quickly invaded the officer's brain and grew into the next body, as his previous body fell to the floor lifeless.

The parasite gained control of his body and grabbed the lifeless body he once occupied. He threw it outside of the station into the dark cold world. No one would have been able to guess that he would have committed the murder.

He walked forward as he sat himself behind the desk, ready to take over the settlement from the bottom up, and become the ruler of the whole settlement. He looked around at his current throne and thought of it good.

...

"Well I wonder, what else could happen here. We have two weeks here, and then I can return to the hydrosphere." The Captain explained as they drove slowly towards the settlement.

"What is a hydrosphere; I don't have any information from the ship in my data banks." QZ said unknowing that he was showing a bit of humanity, and was transmitting data between the ship and himself currently.

"Well there's a hydrosphere and each of them, can hold hundreds of people and they contain enough resources to supply them. We've can used you to upgrade our station with your nanites, hopefully you can upgrade the recycled infrastructure." The Captain said getting a bit excited.

"But didn't they exile you from the hydrosphere?" QZ said also showing some humanity and gathering information. His mechanical eye was twitching around, seemingly as if he spilt two workloads between himself. His mechanical sense was running the truck, while the positronic brain and the crystal listened to The Captain.

They arrived at the settlement pulling into a dock and the ship automatically clamping onto the side as they pulled in. The Captain exited the boat and walked on the dock amazed that he had never found the settlement before. There seemed to be a nice amount of people and anglers around the dock doing their daily business.

"Well then, where did that beacon transmission come from?" The Captain said as he walked down the dock and into the streets of the settlement. They looked around scanning the area and gathering information.

"Scanners indicate that the beacon transmitter is nearby in a localized building, no message has been encoded within the transmission." QZ said as he started to walk forward, trying to follow the beacon as they walked through the wood covered streets.

"Why would someone even need a beacon? This place seems somewhat like a paradise, nice and sunny. Lots of fish to eat, the only way this could be bad is if there was some sort of dictatorship." The Captain said as he walked around a corner.

"A beacon doesn't always suggest escape, perhaps they were advertising." QZ suggested as he turned the corner.

"Hang on someone gave me the "I know you but you don't know me" look, follow me and look cool." The Captain said as he turned towards the café, keeping his eyes of the person who gave him the look.

He looked around and there was a tiny shop, he saw someone look at him. The look was brief but enough for The Captain to notice. He turned towards the café, causing some confusion in QZ. The AI caught on and followed him as he walked into the café.

He sat down in one of the open tables and looked calm and welcoming as he waited for a waiter. He grabbed a menu and put it over his face calmly tracking the person.

One person got up and walked up over towards the counter. He raised the table and passed under. The Captain noticed this and put down the menu he had over his face. He got up and QZ did the same, as they did the person noticed and made a break for it.

The Captain started to run and jumped over the counter, chasing the strange man. He opened the back door. Around him, multiple doors seemed to be leading to multiple apartments. However, the owners would have the doors locked. The multistory houses trapped the man in a corner.

"Well then, I knew when I saw you that you were important. Putting up the beacon to lure me here, which I wouldn't have found without QZ..." The Captain said boasting for a second before realizing whom the man was trapping.

"I don't know who you are, but that cyborg of yours is my objective. Might I say nice gem, good idea linking it with your armor. However, that just means I'll have to use my full strength to beat you." The man said as the multiple doors started to knock, all at the same time.

"Now then enjoy the friends. Now I have to fly." The man said as he started to float, a purple glow around his body. He started to float up, The Captain running at him as he started to fly. His body shot up above them and they were gone.

"QZ, what do scanners indicate is happening?" The Captain said a bit nervous as he backed up and realized that the people in the diner were standing up and making their way towards the door as well. They had a zombie-ish gate and seemed to be drooling.

"Scanners currently indicate that a parasite has infected everyone in town and is currently attempting to kill us, simulations suggest escape to fire escape and using sonic booms on crowd below." QZ said as his vocal simulator indicated fear.

"Agreed." The Captain quickly grabbed QZ's hand but found that the Crocodile had the plan and the cyborg pointed his robotic hand into the sky. He fired it, but this time there appeared to be a string connected to the hand.

The hand reached out and grabbed a rail on the fire escape. The string was pulled in and pulled The Captain and QZ up into the sky as their attackers pushed open the doors and made their way up to the top of the fire escape. They looked down from the top of the building at the situation they were facing. There had to be at least a thousand of the zombies in the square and looking at the entrance to the café, a thousand more.

"Listen all of you, if you stop this right now. I might be able to spare your lives but only if you reach inside of you and stop this madness now!" The Captain said as he tried to find peace with the group.

"Scanners indicate that peace will not be able to be found with the strange zombies, scanners indicate that they have not been able to figure out to find us through the building." QZ said updating The Captain with a large and wordy fragment.

"It's always that way." The Captain said as he bent down and put his hand the fire escape's edge. He focused and fired a sonic boom, dislodging the fire escape and causing the large and rusty metal piece to fall on the crowd of zombies knocking out some of them.

They seemed to realize about the fire escapes and started to jump around the other building's fire escapes. They seemed to be able to push themselves up through pure force and piling on each other.

"Scanners indicate that this isn't good, fire more." QZ said encouraging The Captain as the zombies reached the fire escapes and started to climb up the buildings.

"Ok, sorry guys but I asked you. FIRE!" The Captain focused his energy and put both of his hands out. QZ seemed to calculate what was happening and put his hands against the shorka's back. Energy seemed to build up The Captain's hand and started to glow a bright light making the rest of the world seem darker.

The zombies took notice of this, started to climb faster, and fastened themselves to the building awaiting the attack. The Captain's body started to shake and electricity from static arced around him.

"Only a few more seconds, then I can let it go!" The Captain screamed as his arms started to push back against him, the energy in his palm more powerful than he was. He screamed out in pain as the energy became too much.

The energy burst and fired out, The Captain being pushed backwards against QZ, who could not even hold him as the energy fired. His body screamed in pain as his eyes readjusted to the regular light again.

He was on top of QZ and currently they were at the edge of the building. Luckily the robotic crocodile's body preventing him from getting seriously road burnt. He quickly realized that QZ had organic matter on his body and he stood up in a rush, quickly flipping the crocodile over and looking at his back.

He took a sigh of relief. Besides a few removed scales and pink spots, there was nothing serious that he would have to worry about. The Captain stood him and the crocodile up, whose legs seemed to lock.

He walked forward and looked at the damage he inflicted on the square. Right of the bat there was a massive crumbled curve right where he was standing. He looked down and the entire square seemed to be crumbled to pieces. The zombies were moaning in the bottom and seemed to be very injured.

There was crumbled concrete in the square and shattered glass all around. He looked at the damage he caused and realized that he could not do that again. The wood crumbled beneath the concrete's weight and the people started to fall into the ocean, falling to the bottom of the sea.

He looked in shame and really promised not to do that again but looked behind him. There was one last zombie with his arm around QZ's neck. The Captain wanted to run forward but realized that the zombie was holding a gun to QZ's chest.

However, before he could do anything someone hit him and threw him on the ground. He looked at the ground and closed his eyes. Someone tied him up and he saw QZ, being dragged off and into the stairwell.

...

"Information received, activing battle features; downloading witty comebacks." QZ said as he woke up his mechanical eye shining back to life. He started to scan around the room, trying to figure out where he was in the settlement. Someone walked into the room, but he could not identify or run the man through his face bank.

"Don't try to escape QZ; you're attached to a massive supermagnet." The voice said as he walked closer to the crocodile looking at him with a disturbed look on his face.

"That would mean something, I my hands were say made out of metal..." QZ boasted to the man before he realized that he was made in metal, witty comebacks apparently beat out logic processors in terms of order.

"Well then you're trapped, but you probably don't remember who I am. However, let me give you a hint, I was your master. You probably can't remember the vampire invasion of 2150, but you abandoned me and your three laws and left me there to die." The man said as he walked forward with a knife and put it up against QZ's throat, trying to be threatening. "What do you have to say in your defense?"

"You are not my master, my master was human. However, I abandoned him because the three laws dictate to attempt to prevent most harm to humans. You were trapped under a bolder, there was little chance a vampire would turn you. I left you to protect a larger group of humans." QZ said as he defended his actions.

"Exactly, what I would expect a robot to say. However, you had loyalty to me, I was your master and you abandoned me. When I figure out to work this computer and because you pain, I will make you feel every single ounce of pain I felt when I drowned." The man said as he walked over to a less primitive computer that QZ was attached to.

"You should know how to use computers, you activated the beacons to my exact communication channel, and you were crushed by a bolder not drowned?" QZ said as he picked out community errors in the man's conversation.

"Wait, I did die under a bolder, and underwater, and in burning fires, in surgeries, and from gun wounds. How can I have died multiple times if I am human?" The man said as he started to question his own actions.

"But you are a parasite, dead people have stagnant memories and you took their memories and their feelings when you attempted to enter their body. It is not me that you want revenge with." QZ argued as he realized what happened to the parasite, gaining so many memories that his own reality became blurred and faded.

"No, I will not be denied my revengance! You will get your death cyborg; I have not waited a hundred years on this desolate island for nothing!" The man started to scream as the millions of memories he had stored started to crumble in on him.

He ran towards the wall and started to bang his head against the wall. He was screaming in pain as he started to act crazy and random, finally screaming out and acting like a maniac. He ran over to the table and grabbed a gun; he started to fire it in the air with no care of where it went and where it hit.

"Listen you don't have to deal with the pain anymore, there is one way to end this. Free me, accept forgiveness and end your life." QZ said as his processors decided that it was only way for it to end.

"Yes, I can do that. No more pain, no more memories, just silence." The man said as he dropped the knife in his other hand and walked over to the computer. The magnet stopped and QZ fell on the floor.

"There will be no more pain, no more anything, just put it to your head and pull the trigger." QZ said as he tried to guide the man to it, all he needed to do was end it and all the loose ends from the past would be gone. Nothing would remain and he could get going on his next life.

"Goodbye world, goodbye memories, goodbye QZ." The man said as he placed the gun on his head and closed his eye. He waited a few seconds and pulled the trigger. There was a loud bang as the bullet exited the barrel and entered his head, severing nerves and popping blood vessels.

He fell to the floor with his gun in his hand; a blood pile spilled out of his head and ruined the floor. QZ waited a few seconds, scanning the area. His mechanical eye flashed on and off as he waited. The blood pool reached his feet but he did not react.

A red energy came out from the parasite, the remains of the dying parasite falling out and revealing a gem. The gem glowed and it transferred itself to QZ's in a glowing burst of energy. The robot took note of it and decided to make sure everything was done.

"Information received, all zombies have been dealt with. Settlement is unstable, suggested course: find The Captain and leave on the Boat." QZ said unemotional as he walked forward through the blood pool and over the man's body.

He no longer need his memories of the past and decided to move on symbolically, he looked inside his memory storage and found the area where memories of the past were stored. However, before he deleted them he decided to look at one last one.

"Information received, gem must be hidden and protected." A younger QZ said as he held the same gem in his hand. He walked up a high hill, unknown that it would have been much harder had he been human. He stood at the top of the hill and decided that it would have been a good hiding place.

He stood there and no one came for him, even as ground built up around him and the waters flooded the earth. He waited for a thousand years, unknown to him that the world had ended and new one started.

He reflected on that memory for a few seconds picking out the most important items and storing them. He decided to move on to the next life, the captain was a part of it, and then he deleted the file.
