The Demon Knight

The Great War...it ended a little over forty years ago. It was called the Great War mostly because of what happened after. Before the war there were eight kingdoms in the land. First was Raseri, then Ray, Po, Ken, Shi, Slip, Pay, and Soka. It all started off when Raseri invaded Po then Ken trying to take over. Slip helped Ken and Soka teamed up with Po. After a year all of the kingdoms were fighting. Raseri took over Po, Soka, Ray, and Pay by this point and the Great War was fully on.

It lasted for ten years, and every kingdom lost many good males and female. The war would have gone on for a lot longer but if it wasn't for The Golden Knight called Len Riot. He was the top of all the other knights and thanks to him he took down many enemies and stopped the advance of most of the kingdoms. Now there were a lot of Knights that did the same but Len was different. See by the end of the war Len had infiltrated the three kingdoms that had been left. Raseri, Slip, and Ken.

Now only Raseri knew about this being that Len was from there kingdom. Till this day no one knows what he did but he took out the leader of Ken. With only Slip left to fight the now mighty Raseri, Len showed his true colors. Raseri called him the Golden Knight and he fought in many battles but never showed his face. When the kingdom of Slip found out they tried to kill him. This was the last big battle. Len had let the Raseri forces into the castle and they took it over. Len was left to fight the King of Slip in a spectacular battle that took place in front of over a thousand soldiers.

Len had the upper hand during most of the fight until a stroke of bad luck hit him. During a clever attack Len lost his footing, tripped and the king of Slip seeing the opening attacked. The sword took off Len's leg in one swipe. The king kicked Len's weapon away but didn't kill him not wanting to kill an unarmed Fur. He walked over to address the rest of the furs to let them know that they had won the battle. As he put up his arms to tell them he won a sword came out of this chest.

The king looked down at it then spat up blood. The blade came out of his chest and he fell to the ground dead. Behind him standing on his remaining leg was Len. It turned out when the king turned around Len ignored the pain, got up, and attacked killing the king. Because of this Raseri was able to take over the last kingdom becoming the largest Kingdom in the world.

The Raseri Wizard Xelna a tall Grey Hound with strange black eyes offered to reattach the leg but Len said no. He said that it was lost in a battle and it would be a reminder of what he did. Len left the Knights and opened a Black Smith shop. The Great War was won. Later on another war took place. Before the Great War the tribe's wolves had been allowed in to town but after they had been kicked out. One wolf that was called Savage, (a very powerful fighter and spell caster) started another war with Raseri. At the same time another tribe lead by someone only called The Leader was fighting Raseri too.

The Leader and Savage never worked together but they give Raseri a long fight. Not much was known of the war but Savage ended up killing many furs. Then one day Savage vanished and The Leader stopped his fight with Raseri. To this day no one knew why this all happened. Time passed and peace followed, the kingdom grew and they all thought it would last forever. They were wrong.

It's been two years since Len had died and Zach became a knight. In that short time Zach had rose up in ranks faster than anyone had ever thought possible. He took Len's death hard and even thought he told Len he wouldn't try to get revenge on the wolves that killed him he still couldn't help himself. After the funeral he started hunting. The king let him hoping he would show the kingdom and wolves not to mess with Raseri.

Zach learned quickly how to use Viento's powers and some thought that may have been how he earned his high rank. Zach wasn't the same happy go lucky fur anymore. In the past two years he now held a recorded of three hundred kills. In a time of peace this was a high number. Only a few of them he had killed were wolves the rest were men trying to do something to the kingdom or were working with Savage, or so they said. Savage hadn't yet shown himself so they couldn't really say there was another war. By the time Two years had passed Zach was much bigger and held the rank of First Lieutenant of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights.

He was given a new name by this point; because the people and his enemy feared him he was now called The Demon Knight. It was said he sold his soul for power and was now a Demon. Zach liked the name so he kept it and had the king buy him new armor to show this name. He now wore armor of black with a carving of his marking on the chest. When he wore his helm that had horns on the top and when he wanted to go to a ball or something that he needed to be formal in he would add a long red cape with the symbol of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights on it.

Zach to this day still hadn't been back home since he got his few things from it. The memory of Len was too great. He now lived in the castle with and was always around the King. Unless he was sent out on a mission and that's what he was doing now.

Two days ago he had been called to the throne room. He armored up strapped his Katanga's to both hips and headed out. He walked in kneeled down bowed his head and said "Your Majesty."

"You may rise Zach. I have a new mission for you."

Zach got up and said "I live to serve sir."

"I know you do. Now you know of the wolf called Savage right?"

"Yes your majesty I've read up on many things about him and the Great War. Why do you ask?"

"You have told me that most of the furs you've captured or killed had been working for him. Well I wasn't sure about that before but I just got information that he may still be alive and looking to rise back to power." Said the King

"What would you like me to do sir? You know I would like nothing better than to find him and take him out for you."

"This is why I've called you Zach I need someone I can trust. I need you to head out to the land of Zanta and look for a small training camp. It's been said that Savage is there to oversee the training. I can't let the news get out that he may be back but I can't send you alone. There will be another Knight in Zanta that I can trust too and he will assist you."

"I don't like to work with any Knights that aren't in my team. Who is this Knight?"

"I'm not sure but Captain Collin said he is a good fighter."

"When do I leave sir?"

"At once I've already told Captain Collin to expect you. He said he looks forward to it."

"Me too I've missed him ever since he transferred last may."

"Me too he was a great Knight but he wanted to be closer to home so I let him go." Said the King

"Well then I'll have one thing to look forward too so I'll pack and be off." Said Zach bowing once again then heading out

Zach left as soon as he was packed, was heading off for the far away land of Zanta. He could feel his spirit lift somewhat as he traveled. He hadn't told the king but he wanted to see Amy again. He only heard random info on her and would get a letter or two but now he would be able to talk to her. He missed her almost as much as he missed Len.

It took him almost two days to reach Zanta and he wished it would have taken longer. As he walked into town a hush seemed to come over it. He was used to how big Maybell was so this town looked tiny to him even though it had a population of fifteen thousand furs and a small castle for nobles in the middle. As he walked in the street people gave him strange looks. He was used to this by now every time he entered a city but still it was strange. He walked over to an open window shop that sold beer and food to passing furs. The fur running it smiled when he approached.

Zach was shocked buy this but he just shook his head and said "I'll take a glass of milk."

"I'm Zach Riot First Lieutenant of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights from Maybell." Said Zach

"So."

"I'm also known as The Demon Knight." Said Zach

"Lore John, how are you sir. Your right it has been a while."

"I've been better since Captain Collin came to help out around here. He'll be along shortly. He's the one with all the info for you not me I'm only here because the king said I had to be. Esper I wish he wouldn't be so formal with everything." Said Lord John

"I understand what you mean but that's just the way he is."

The door opened and in walked Captain Collin. He smiled when he saw Zach they said "Lord John sorry I'm late...Zach it's good to see you again."

Zach got up and shook his hand then sat back down and said "It's been a little boring ever since you left sir."

"I bet it has but give the troops time they will come along. Anyway I wish we could talk and catch up but you've been sent here for a reason." Said Collin

"Yes Demon Knight why don't you and Captain Collin explain it. I may not want to be here but since I am I want to know what's happening." Said Lord John

"I don't know much myself." Said Zach

Captain Collin sat down and said "I'm sorry to bring this up but what I say can't leave this room. To the north of Zanta is a small Camp in the middle of the woods. We do know that it's an enemy camp but what kind of enemy I'm not sure. We would just take down this camp but we have found out that Savage may be there too. If this is true then we can't send in any troops to take down the camp. Savage would be able to take them out. What I need you to do is watch the area for now with a partner and see if this is true. If not then we will take out the camp ourselves."

"I understand but who is my partner?" asked Zach

"You'll see when you arrive. The place you'll be stationed is a cliff near the site." Said Captain Collin showing him on a map

"Ok sir but do I have time to go see a friend of mine?" said Zach

"Sorry I need you to leave right away plus I know who you want to see and she's out on assignment." Said Captain Collin

After that a few more preparations were made and some more planning Zach was off. It only took about an hour to each the bottom of the cliff. At this point he was a little more careful as he walked keeping an eye out for enemies. He hiked up the hill for another half hour which wasn't easy in full armor. When he reached the top he stopped and hid behind a few rock. He was happy now that he had on Black armor that didn't reflect light.

He sat down then peeked around a bolder and saw the camp. It wasn't that large but he could tell that they were training furs for battle. Tents were set up in different areas around the camp and in the middle was one large one. As he was watching he heard a twig snap behind him. He jumped to his feet drew both his swords and slashed at whoever was sneaking up on him. His blade met the steel of another blade. In front of him was a large sword that was almost as big as he was with strange symbols running down its length. The one holding it was none other than Amy.

Zach withdrew his sward and so did she. They looked at each other for a long moment then Amy picked the weapon up with on hand twirled it over her head then slung it over her back. "I'm your partner for this assignment didn't Collin tell you?" she said with a smile

"I guess he is he killed Len two years ago."

"Well from what I've been told we need to keep an eye on the camp to see if we spot Savage."

"But how are we going to know who he is. I've never seen him before or not that I can remember." Said Zach

"Neither have I but the Captain said we will know him when we see him." Said Amy un-strapping her sword again setting in next to a tree then sitting down

Zach drew one of his swords too keeping his breath steady as he listened for any kind of movement. Then a sound broke the air from behind them and they turned. Zach twisted around the wolf and twirled his sword around taking off the wolf's head. As he fell more came running out of the woods holding swords and hammers ready to attack. Zach smiled and ran toward them, there were at least eight of them but Zach didn't care. He loved to fight so he showed them why he was called The Demon Knight. He blocked and parried their blows taking off heads and arms as he attacked. More enemies started to flow out of the forest taking him by surprise.

Zach jumped back dodged another few attacks then jumped into a tree. He could see more and more fur's coming out of the woods as he climbed the tree getting higher and higher. "If I had my sword then I could get out but I don't know of anything else."

"But what about your markings haven't you figured out what their powers are yet."

"Powers? I didn't know they did that kind of thing."

"I told you they did in training."

"But I thought you were joking." Said Zach

"No...Listen it's not that hard to do just concentrate and feel for the power deep within you."

They looked up and saw a tall black wolf standing at the hole looking down at them. Zach growled and said "Who the hell are you?"

"His name is Grant the wolf you've been looking for." Said Amy from behind him

"That I am...Amy I didn't see you back there it's been a while where have you been hiding?" said the black wolf

"With the Kingdom that's who." She said with growl

Zach couldn't find any words to say, all he could think about was Len's death and the wolf he had been after for so long. He wanted to kill him for what he did to Len but for some reason he couldn't do it. Grant looked down at them and said "Demon Knight I'm sorry I forgot about you, or should I say Zach McVanson, or Riot I'm not sure any more. I've been looking for you for some time now. That old black smith wasn't much help you know."

Right then Zach lost it and he yelled "You ass hole you killed him. I swore I would kill you and anyone who got in my way to get to you."

"Ha...and how are you going to do that now?" Said Grant

Zach growled again and tried to jump up to the top of the hole but he missed and fell. Grant laughed at him as Amy yelled "Grant what do you want with us?"

"Nothing really It's my lord Savage who wants to see you. He'll be along in a few hours so you can just sit back and wait for him. I was just having some fun." Said Grant with a small grin

"No that can't be right I thought Savage was dead." Said Amy

"He only went into Hiding. He felt that it wasn't the right time to take over but now that we found Zach he's ready to start the war all over again." Said Grant turning and walking away laughing the entire time

"Get back here you Ass Hole." Yelled Zach after he got back to his feet

"It's no use Zach he won't listen to you. Grant's a smug son of a bitch and thinks he's the best thing that ever hit the earth."

She turned and said "It doesn't matter Zach."

"It does to Amy. You tell me to trust you and I have so far but then I see that. I have been looking for Grant for a long time and you know him. What the hell Amy."

She turned again to look him in the eye and she yelled "Why should I tell you Zach. I came here to help my kind not the king...That's why I don't tell you things. I know Grant because he used to be in my old tribe. My life is one big lie ok...and why don't I tell you? Maybe because what did you do when Len died...You became the King's Lap dog. I thought you would be different but no you became a killer just like the rest of them."

"I had to, they killed Len and are the enemy of my kingdom." Yelled Zach

"I do if Grant's right and your last name is really McVanson. Your father's the one who sent me here."

"Because maybe he was trying to save your life."

The pain didn't stop this time and Zach knew that it was coming from the light he felt in his mind. Then the pain in his back got worse and then it felt like something exploded out of his back. Amy screamed and backed away from him looking at something over his shoulders. Zach reached back and felt along his back, His hand found something. He ran his hand over it and pulled it down He was looking at a pitch black wing. He reached around his left shoulder and pulled forward another wing but this one was Pure White. The wings were the opposite of his tails. His white one was on the right and the black on the left.

He stumbled back and almost tripped as he started to freak out. Amy looked at him with horror they said "What's happening to you Zach?"

Zach looked in the water bucket that was left for them and he saw that the markings now covered his body with golden light, his fur was now black, and his eyes gave off a golden glow too. When he spoke it was in a voice that sounded like a demons as he said "I'm not sure I think it's my power."

"But it can't be...what are you?" Said Amy

Zach pulled at the lights power in his mind again and then he started to understand what he had to do and an evil looking smile came to his face as he said "I'm not sure but I'm getting out of here." And with that he lifted his wings laughing as he jumped upward ramming his body into the bars. It was like they weren't even there. Zach's body pulverized them as he flew out scaring the guards who were sitting at a table near the hole. He found that he was in the bid tent at the camp they were told to watch.

Amy pulled herself out of the hole too looking around. She spotted her sword sitting in a corner and she ran to grab it. Zach did the same when he saw Viento. The guards drew their swords ready to fight but Zach took them down in a single swipe of his blades. Amy ran up to him and took his hand and said "Let's get out of here before they get us."

Zach put his wing's down and looked at them marveling at how they feathers on them reflected the light from the lanterns then he said "They have to die."

"What no Zach we have to get out of here before we're killed."

Zach only looked at her then said "They have to die or at least Grant has to die. He'll pay for what he did."

"But what if Savage shows up? You can't take him on too."

"Don't worry this will be quick." Said Zach taking Viento and connecting them. He then drew on his power and started to twirl the double ended sword in a fast circle. As he did this he walked outside showing himself to everyone. The enemy fur's saw him and started to run toward him with Grant in the front. Zach looked at Amy and said "Get next to me or you'll end up dead too."

She did so and she held her body close to his as a black light started to show itself around the edge of the blades. As the enemy grew close to them Zach yelled out and brought the sword down making it strike the ground hard. A dome of black light shot out from the tip of the top of it. The dome extended outward quickly obliterating everything it touched. Grant throw up an arm as it hit him then he too was taken in by the blast. After a moment it stopped and vanished leaving nothing left but a large charred area.

"Now we can leave." He said

Amy looked around and said "I can't believe this Zach you killed them all..." but she couldn't say anything else

Right then a moan came from a few feet away and Grant got up. His armor and cloths were gone but he seemed to be covered in some kind of hard diamond looking thing. After a moment it vanished and he stood in front of them naked as the day he was born. He growled and said "I see why Savage wants you...You are a monster. You may have taken out my Troops but no worries I can get more."

"No you won't I'll kill you before you get the chance." Yelled Zach

"No you won't you see my master will be arriving soon and I bet he would like to see this. Plus as you can see I'm not the easiest fur to kill." Said Grant. Zach could see white markings that he couldn't make out on the wolf's chest.

"I don't care I'll kill him too."

"Zach no we have to leave you don't stand a chance with Savage." Said Amy starting to cry

Zach looked at her then back at Grant. He wanted nothing more than to kill Grant but he also knew that Amy was right. So he took hold of her and with one last look at Grant he jumped into the air and flew off. He could hear Grant laughing as he left but he tried to ignore it. Zach was going to head back for Zanta but as he flew he knew that the king would need to know about his right away so he changed direction and headed for Maybell.

"Zach what are you doing we need to get back to Captain Collin and report." Said Amy

"Sorry but the king needs to know what's happening we'll head right for him. With my wings we could make it there in a couple of hours." said Zach moving faster through the air. He found that flying made him feel free and alive and the faster he went the better he felt.

Amy started to complain the entire time but he just ignored her and kept going. Soon he found himself landing in side of the castle walls looking at the front door within only an hour and a half. The two guards yelled in fright and drew their weapons. Zach smiled and said "Don't worry it's me Zach Riot First Lieutenant of the First Brigade Royal Court Knights."

"Prove it you don't look like him." Said One guard

"You're one of mine...James Pan. At training you got raped by your bunk mates and you ended up almost killing them."

The guard blushed and said "Ok I believe you but sir what happened to you."

"It's none of your concern ok; I need to see the king right away."

The guards moved out of their way and Zach walked in pulling Amy with him. He wasn't sure why she was trying not to go inside but he didn't care one bit. He made it inside and bowed to the king once he was in the throne room. The king looked at him with horror on his face as he said "Zach is that you...What's going on?"

"Sorry sir I needed to make my report to you at once." He said getting up

"But your body what happened?"

Zach looked down and then told the king of what had happened to him since he last saw him. He finished by saying "I'm not sure what it is but I think it has something to do with my wolf half."

"I think your right...Can you change back?" said the king

"I'm not sure let me try." Said Zach closing his eyes. He found the light he had taken hold of in his mind and this time he was able to let it go. A tingle ran down his body followed by a small pain. Zach opened his eyes and looked down, he saw that his body and markings had gone back to normal and the wings had vanished.

"Good I'm glad you could do that and who do you have with you...A prisoner?" said the King

"No this is Amy the knight I graduated with and my partner for this assignment." Said Zach pulling her forward then his heart fell. Zach knew right then why she hadn't wanted to go in. Amy still looked like her wolf self, in all the commotion Zach had forgotten to let her put back up her spell.

"So she was a wolf in hiding...good work Zach. Guards take her into custody and put her into a prison cell."

Amy started to yell "For what sir yes I am a wolf but all I wanted was to help the kingdom."

"I don't care your kind isn't allowed in the city or to be a knight. You'll be put to death for this." Said the king as two guards grabbed her and took off her sword letting it drop heavily to the ground.

They started to pull her away and she looked at Zach and yelled "This is all your fault Zach I'll get you for this."

Zach watched as she was taken away then he turned and yelled "Sire she helped us for two years why do we have to kill her?"

"Because she is a wolf that's why. Zach you know they are evil that's why I've been having you kill them all. She could be part of this uprising and why I didn't know about Savage sooner." Said the king

"You can't do this sir she's my friend I trust her."

"Well I don't trust you Zach...Now shut up and do as you're told."

Zach wanted to get after him but he just bowed and said "Yes sir."

"See that's better and I'm sorry I yelled. Listen I have a meeting with a couple of the lords tonight so I need to you keep the guard on high tonight but keep away from the meeting room. I know you just got back so get a few hours rest, I'll send a message to Captain Collin and make sure you're up later tonight. The sun is coming up soon so enjoy the rest I won't need you till later." Said the King

Zach did as he was told and went back to his room. He took a bath then went to sleep. He was finding this all a little strange but when the time came he was up and ready for work like always. He still couldn't get what the king had said out of his head so when the king was in his meeting and the guard was set up he snuck to the door and put an ear to it.

He could then hear the voices of King Esper, Lord Jeff and Lord Fen. The king was laughing and said "Yes it's all happening as I planned. Len's boy has his father's gifts and will do whatever I say."

"You mean he has the power of the dark demon wolf just like The Leader of the wolves?" asked Lord Jeff

"He does and better yet he found that spy Amy for me. I knew The Leader had sent one in but I wasn't sure who it was." Said the king

"Are you sure Zach will work for you still?" said Lord Fen

"I do and he still thinks I don't know his really last name or where he comes from. He is Zach McVanson the leader's son just as I thought. I'm still shocked that Len handed him over to me. I had always thought he worked with Raven and Mary but I may have been wrong."

"So is that why you had Grant kill him."

"Part of it and I needed Zach to follow me that's all. I can't let him find out who he really is now can I?" said the king

"No I guess not but what is Grant up to now?"

"He's working as a spy in Savage's army. I do find that some wolves can be useful."

"But what if Zach finds this all out...He'll kill you sir." Said Lord Jeff

"I'm not worried about him I'm sure Grant can take care of him plus I've been sending him out killing the ones who have been trying to stop me. He has no idea who he is or what he's been killing for all I know he could have killed Raven and Mary already."

"So is that why you didn't have him arrested when you found out about Ken, and why you sent Lynn away to work for you son to the north?" said Fen

"Yes I couldn't have her mess it all up for me. Now soon I'll take down the Leader and hopefully Savage too all thanks to that stupid Zach. Even now after I said I would kill one of his friends and saying I don't trust him he still is going to serve under Me." said the king laughing

Zach felt as though his body was on fire as rage filled him. He wanted nothing more than to kill them all but he knew he couldn't. If he killed the king right now he would not make it out alive. But he couldn't let the king get away with this. He didn't know what to do but then he remembered what Len had told him right before he died.

"I want you listen to me, One day you'll see what the kingdom is really like, when that day's comes I want you to go find the one in your dream called Raven. He will have something to show you, but only do it when you know you have too."

Len had seemed determined that Zach knew this so he got up and started to head toward the underground prison. Zach was tired of everything and he needed to finally take Len's advice. But first he had one thing to do and he would make sure she got out...
