Story by Rose the Lopunny on SoFurry

Hey all! Time for the next chapter! Rose has won his first round, so it's time for his next challenge, courtesy of jukesman54 's character Michael! Hope you all enjoy!

P.S. I'm hitting a small block on the other two chapters, so when I get the inspiration and time to complete them, they will be uploaded

The sun was rising high over the sky, Rose smiling as he rests a bit with a drink beneath the tree. He looks through his deck, smiling as it was all good. He gets up, stretching out and double checking his Duel Disk before going out. He smiles, wondering who his next opponent would be. He smiled, looking around for his next opponent. Eventually, he makes his way to the edge of the island. Not too many students were out this far, Rose just wandering around. Eventually, he sees something on the beach. It seemed to be a D-Pad and a set of clothes, the vest indicating a Galaxy Gold student.

Rose: Hm? What are these doing here....

Rose goes closer, but he soon hears a splash from the water nearby. He looks out, seeing someone out there. It was a Vaporeon male, going for a swim. Rose smiles, waving to him.

Rose: Hey!

The male looks over, smiling as he swims back to the shore. He gets out, stretching out as he had nothing but a pair of swim trunks on.

Vaporeon: Hey. You're Rose, aren't you? Rose: Jeez, it's almost like everyone knows my name around here.... Vaporeon: No kidding, you were the one who pulled off that incredible OTK on Growler for your entrance exam! I wish I could have been there to see it....oh! Where are my manners, I'm Michael, nice to meet you.

Rose smiles, shaking his hand.

Rose: So, taking a break from dueling for a swim? Michael: Yeah, I've always loved the ocean. Kinda makes sense though seeing as I became a Vaporeon.

Rose: Yeah. So how's your tournament going so far? Michael: Pretty good. I got a couple wins already.

He smiles, pulling out his Star Crest, it already had 4. Rose smiles, he still had only two.

Rose: Well....wanna duel? Michael: Sure. How many? 1? Rose: Two. Both of mine for two of your's. Michael: Oh? Are you sure? Rose: I don't plan on losing anytime soon. You ready?

Michael smirks, getting his D-pad and D-gazer, popping them on as Rose goes across from him. The game randomizes the first turn, Rose getting the first move.

Rose: Alright, let's duel! I think I'll start things off with my field spell, Closed Forest!

The card is set into place, Rose taking another from his hand.

Rose: I'll follow that up by setting a monster on the field, and then two facedowns. Your move, Michael.

Michael: Alright, let's go!

He draws, smiling.

Michael: Alright then, I summon out my Mother Grizzly in attack mode!

The bear appears on the field, as he takes another card out.

Michael: And now that I control a WATER monster like Mother Grizzly, I can special summon my Silent Angler!

He places the card down, the fish appearing.

Michael: If I summon him, I can't special summon from the hand for the rest of the turn, but that doesn't matter, since the next summon will be from the extra deck. I now overlay both of my monsters and Xyz summon out my Bahamut Shark!

The two monsters turn into blue orbs, flying into the vortex. The monster appears in a giant typhoon, the shark monster summoned in attack mode.

Michael: I'm not done yet! I now detach an Xyz material from Bahamut Shark to activate his effect! I can automatically summon a Rank 3 or lower WATER Xyz monster from my extra deck to the field, but in exchange, my monster has no attack, and the monster has no materials.

The monster chomps down on a material, spewing out a whirlpool that goes to a monster zone, turning into an Xyz portal.

Michael: I special summon my Shark Caesar!

The purple and white shark appears, but it soon changes into a sphere.

Michael: He won't be staying around for long though, because I'm using him alone as Xyz material to summon out my Full Armored Black Ray Lancer!

The monster appears, the blue and orange warrior appearing.

Michael: While he has Xyz material, he gains 200 points for each, bringing him to 2300. So, Rose, how was that for an opening move? Rose: I couldn't' follow half of that, but that was amazing! That deck is so fast! Micahel: Just like a real shark, this deck is ferocious and quick. Full Armored Black Ray Lancer, attack Rose's facedown!

The monster holds a jet-black spear, throwing it at the monster, revealing it to be Key Mouse.

Rose: When my Key Mouse is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, I can add a level 3 or lower Beast monster to my hand. I'm adding Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest.

Michael: I set two cards and end my turn.

Rose: My move, I draw! I set another monster and end my turn.

Michael: Hm, bad hand? My turn!

He draws his card, smilng.

Michael: I summon my Doublefin Shark!

The purple creature appears, roaring.

Michael: Now his effect activates, allowing me to special summon a level 3 or 4 Fish-type monster to the field! I summon the Silent Angler I detached from Bahamut Shark. I then overlay Silent Angler and Doublefin Shark to Xyz summon another Bahamut Shark!

The second blue sea serpent appears, screeching, Rose chuckling.

Rose: This deck is so fast, it's amazing! Michael: Heh, thanks for the compliment! I then use my first Bahamut Shark's effect to summon out Number 47: Nightmare Shark! I then use it to summon out another Full Armor Black Ray Lancer!

Micheal smiles, as his monsters appear

Michael: Full Armor Black Ray Lancer, attack Rose's facedown monster!

The monster throws its spear, but Rose flips a card.

Rose: I activate my trap card, Waboku! For the rest of this turn, monsters can't be destroyed by battle and I take no battle damage!

The monster is still flipped, revelaing itself to be Baby Raccoon Tantan

Rose: Thanks to the effect of Tantan, I can special summon a level 2 Beast monster from my deck. I summon Kalantosa, Mystical Beast of the Forest!

The hedgehog appears, the quills glowing.

Rose: And now that he's on the field, I can destroy a card on the field. I 'm destroying your new Bahamut!

The quills fire, destroying the sea creature.

Michael: Not bad. I end my turn with that.

Rose: My turn, draw!

Michael: But before you do, I activate a card, the continuous trap Eisbahn!

The card activates, the field becoming covered in a layer of ice.

Michael: Now, so long as I control a WATER monster, whenever a non-WATER monster is summoned, it is forced into defense mode upon summoning.

Rose: Well, that complicates things. But for now, I summon my Baby Raccoon Ponpoko to the field!

The monster appears, but when it gets on the field, it slips and stumbles on the ice, before falling and ending up in defense mode.

Rose: ...ok, that was cute. But anyway, I can set a level 2 Beast from my deck when Ponpoko is summoned. And I'm setting another Tantan.

Even while on its back, Ponpoko plays his drum, summoning Tantan facedown.

Rose: I now overlay Ponpoko and Tantan to Xyz summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in defense mode!

The two monsters go into the vortex, the giant rock monster appearing.

Rose: And while Gachi has Xyz material, he boosts all monsters' attack and defense points by 200 for each, bringing him to 2200. I swap Kalantosa into defense mode, now with 1600, and end my turn.

Michael: My move. Bahamut Shark, attack Gachi Gachi Gantetsu!

His monster attacks, but Gachi survives, if not for some of the rocks on him breaking off.

Rose: When Gachi would be destroyed, I can detatch an Xyz material from it instead. Michael: Full Armored Black Ray Lancers, take it out!

The first one strikes, more rocks falling off of Gachi. The second one strikes, shattering it as Rose flinches a bit.

Rose: So powerful.... Michael: That's all from me. Rose: My turn.

Rose draws, looking over his hand.

Micahel: Having some hand troubles? Rose: Nah, just thinking how this combo will work...alright, here goes! First, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to take out Eisbahn!

The card appears, the whirlwind shattering the ice on the field.

Rose: I then flip summon my Tantan from earlier to special summon another Kalantosa!

Tantan flips up, banging his drum as the hedgehog appears.

Rose: And once again, I can destroy a card on the field, and I'm going with your facedown!

The needles fly towards it, shattering the card, revealing itself as Splash Capture.

Rose: OH GOSH I am glad I destroyed that card....that card can steal an Xyz monster from me when I summon it. Michael: Damn, didn't think you'd notice my card. Rose: Now that I'm safe, I overlay Tantan and Kalantosa summon Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu in defense mode!

The two monsters jump into the vortex, the ninja appearing.

Rose: I then use his effect, detaching an Xyz material to summon a Kagemusha Token, copying the attack of the strongest monster. In this case, it's your Bahamut Shark!

The token appears, copying Bahamut Shark. Not only that but it gained the bonus from Closed Forest, bringing it up to 3100.

Rose: Kagemusha Token, destroy Bahamut Shark!

The monster blasts fire, destroying Bahamut Shark as Michael's life drops to 7500.

Rose: That's all from me.

Michael: My turn.

He draws...then smirks.

Micheal: Perfect. I now use the effect of the Xyz Remora from my hand! By detaching 2 Xyz materials from monsters I control, I can special summon him! And I have just what I need, the materials from my Full Armored Black Ray Lancers!

The two orbs fly into the card in his hand as he plays it, the green fish appearing.

Micahel: And that's not all. When he's summoned in this way, I can take 2 level 4 Fish type monsters in my grave and summon them in defense mode. I take Doublefin Shark and Silent Angler and bring them back!

The orbs come from Xyz Remora, appearing on the field as the two mosnters.

Michael: They can't attack, change their battle positions, or attack. And even what they can be used for an Xyz summon is limited. Thankfully, I have just the card I need with them! I now overlay Xyz Remora, Silent Angler, and Doublefin Shark!

The three monsters fly into the vortex, Michael smirking.

Michael: Rise from the depths, Number 32: Shark Drake!

The monster comes out, the pink and blue sea dragon roaring, Rose stumbling back a bit.

Rose: Incredible...'

Michael: Shark Drake, attack Kalantosa!

The monster fires a blast of water at the hedgehog, making it screech as it's destroyed.

Rose: Huh? But...why Kalantosa? Michael: Because I needed to destroy it to activate Shark Drake's effect. When it destroys a monster and sends it to the graveyard, I can force it back to the field, minus 1000 attack points!

Shark Drake chomps on an Xyz material, making a whirlpool rise on Rose's side, Kalantosa back in attack mode with 500 attack. It was forced to 0 first, but Closed Forest brings it back up to 500.

Michael: Not only that, but Shark Drake can attack again! Shark Drake, attack the Kagemusha Token!

Shark Drake roars, firing a powerful blast of water, destroying the token and taking Rose down to 7900 points.

Rose: I see.....you wanted to bring back a weakened Kalantosa while destroying my token in the same move. Michael: Full Armored Black Ray Lancer, destroy Kalantosa!

The monster fires it's spear, destroying the monster, bringing Rose down to 6300 points.

Michael: My second Lancer, destroy Sandayu!

The raccoon is destroyed, unable to save itself as Rose had no other beasts on the field.

Michael: I'm done. Rose: My turn.

He draws, smiling.

Rose: That's an incredible deck you have there. Every card compliments the other in some way. Micahel: Thank you. I've always had a love for the sea, and this deck just seemed to call out to me. Rose: Same here, but with my raccoons. I now activate the Obedience Schooled spell card from my hand!

Rose smiels, getting a whistle.

Rose: By blowing this, I can summon 3 Beasts from my deck, so long as they are level 2 or below effect monsters.

Rose takes a deep breath, blowing the whistle, as a Key Mouse, Tree Otter, and Kalantosa appear.

Rose: And now for something fun, a Synchro Summon! I now tune my level 1 Key Mouse with the level 2 Tree Otter and level 2 Kalantosa!

Key Mouse jumps into the air, becoming a green ring as the other two jump through it, becoming bright white stars.

Rose: I Synchro summon Ally of Justice Catastor!

The mechanized monster appears, Michael a bit confused.

Michael: Huh? That's not a beast, nor is it stronger than my Shark Drake.

Rose: That's because there's more to this monster. You see, when it battles, before even calculating damage, if the monster it battles isn't DARK...well, you'll see for yourself. Catastor, attack Shark Drake!

The monster's large eye glows, scanning Shark Drake. It's eye glows to blue, as it fires electricity, destroying Shark Drake without being destroyed or Rose taking damage.

Michael: Shark Drake, no! Rose: Heh, love this card. I end my turn with that.

Michael draws, looking his cards over.

Michael: Gotcha. Rose: Excuse me? Michael: I summon out my Saber Shark to the field. However, he won't be around for long, because he'll be used as the ammo for my Fish Depth Charge trap card!

The card appears, Saber Shark glowing.

Micahel: By tributing a Fish-type monster on my field, Ic an destroy a card on the field. Time for Catastor to be swimming with the fishes!

Saber Shark charges forward, impaling itself into Shark Drake, causing it to explode.

Micahel: And to top it all off, I draw a card. And what a card it IS! I use my Moray of Greed! By shuffling two WATER monsters back from my hand into my deck, I draw 3 cards. I return Panther Shark and Mother Grizzly back to shuffle and draw.

Michael smiles, moving to the battle phase.

Michael: Lancers, fire!

Rose groans as he's hit back by the massive strikes, dropping down fast to 2100.

Michael: One turn left. Rose: Yeah...

Rose draws...then smirks.

Rose: Gotcha.

Michael: Are you trying to just copy me? Rose: Nope, time to bring this back. I start this off by using another Obedience Schooled! This time, I summon out Kalantosa, Ponpoko, and Key Mouse!

The three monsters appear, Rose smirking.

Michael: Hm?

Rose: I then summon Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest!

The deer bounds out, Rose smiling.

Michael: Isn't that the card you added at the start? Rose: Yep. I now use her effect. By discarding a card, I can special summon a level 2 Beast from my graveyard. I discard the Tree Otter in my hand to bring back Kalantosa!

The monster appears, spines glowing.

Rose: I destroy one of your Black Ray Lancers!

The monster is destroyed, Michael a bit shaken, but not out.

Michael: I still have one more. Rose: Not for long. Time to turn this around! I tune together my Key Mouse and the two Kalantosas to Xyz summon Naturia Beast!

The monsters form together, forming into the large plant lion.

Rose: I follow that up with overlaying Valerifawn and Ponpoko to summon another Sandayu!

The ninja appears, both powerful.

Rose: I then use Sandayu's effect, summoning a Kagemusha Token! The currently strongest monster on the field is Naturia Beast with 3700 thanks to Closed Forest. The token has that, and once it also gains Closed Forest's boost, it jumps to 5300! Michael: No way....but thanks to my Lancer, I'll live! Rose: I'm afraid not. You remember this card?

Rose points to his facedown. The entire duel, it stayed there, never activating.

Michael: You mean...you had this set up..the whole time? Rose: Bingo. I now activate my final card, Ayers Rock Sunrise!

The card appears, the area turning into the outback with a beautiful sunrise.

Rose: First, I summon a Beast back from the grave like Tree Otter! Then, for every Plant, Beast, or Winged Beast monster in my graveyard after that, your monster loses 200 attack points! I don't think I need to calculate it since it'll be 0.

The spirits fo his monsters come out of the grave, latching onto Lancer and reducing it to 0.

Michael: Incredible... Rose: Alright boys, finish this!

The monsters all attack, bringing Michael down to 0 in one go. The buzzer sounds, Rose winnign the duel. He smiels, going up to him and shaking his hand, helping him up.

Rose: Amazing duel. Michael: No doubt about that. That final combo you pulled off was amazing! Here, you earned these.

He smiles, handing Rose the two pieces he earned, bringing him up to 4.

Michael: Wanna go for a swim, take a break? Rose: Nah, I gotta meet up with someone soon. Michael: Alright, catch ya later, Rose!

Rose smiles, going off to find more to duel.
