"That's all?" Milton Cramer asked, laughing slightly to himself as he read the mission specs. Cramer was a young, well built private with very blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore nothing but the standard Weyland-Yutani Marine Corps uniform; albeit a wristwatch that beeped once every hour. Another marine, Adrian Grimm, sat next to him and chuckled as well.

"If they were human, the problem would be difficult. I got qualms about killin' humans. But these little fuckers aren't gettin' a single bit of sympathy from me," he said. Both he and Cramer were new to the corps and had little experience fighting at all. The marine that sat across from them was named Anthony Ferrintino, a grizzled veteran who had fought Xenomorphs many times before. He had been in more painful and dire situations in the past year than the two newbies had in their whole lives.

"Good attitude marine! Give no mercy, cause you're gonna get none at all," Anthony said grimly. The others scoffed.

"So, what's the toughest situation you ever got stuck in Captain?" Grimm asked.

"Call me Tony, Captain and Anthony are too long to say in combat. I've been in a lot of difficult situations in my life, each one just as bad as the last, there's really no worst one," he said, snapping a clip into his pulse rifle and cocking it.

"Ah, c'mon! There has to be a worst one," Cramer persisted after his friend's question. Tony shook his head.

"The only thing I can think of is when...we were called in to take down a single hive. Just one. We thought it would be easy, but we were mistaken. We searched the whole base and found nothing at all. Thinking they had migrated, we decided to move outward, to the next area. When we got back to our dropships, we found where they had been hiding...literally right under our noses. They had torn the ship's controls to pieces, taking everyone who was onboard back to the hive. We couldn't leave and had no comms, so we had to at least try to get the taken soldiers back before they were impregnated. We looked and looked for the hive, for what seemed like days, but we eventually found it. It was in the lower parts of the area, almost completely underground. When we moved in, they ambushed us and drugged us. When I woke up, I was stuck to a wall, completely unable to move. I thought I was done for, especially when I saw all of my marines next to me, huggers on each of them already. The sight was ghastly, but I was still kept alive. Apparently the Queen had taken particular liking to me and wanted me alive. She confronted me, asking what I had hoped to accomplishâ€"" he was cut off when another of the younger marines spoke out.

"Wait! They can talk? When the hell did that happen?!" he asked, suddenly confused.

"I thought it was crazy, too, but it was happening right in front of me," he explained. "To make a long story short, she got pissed off with me and I escaped with the help of a grenade I had on my belt."

"Well that was riveting, Captain, but I'm afraid there wont be time for any more stories. We're dropping in 5," a voice over the loudspeaker said. The ship rumbled, turbulence making the soldiers uneasy. The marines next to Tony were his best friends; he had been with them since a couple months after his experience. He looked at each of them, Jack Coffer and Marcus Ruston. He smiled and they smiled back, taking their rifles and connecting a methane cartridge to the underbarrel flamethrower attachment. They had made a promise to each other if they ever went into another Xeno mission; the first thing they would do is burn the fuckers.

"Light ‘em up boys," Tony chuckled to them. They chuckled back and held their guns close to their chests. The dropship shook and hit the dusty floor of the planet with a loud thump. The marines stood up and ran to the doors just as they slid open. All of them rushed out and took their positions by the door of the mining facility, guns ready and set. The engineer, Kerry Kraiton, ran up to the door and drew his blowtorch. He hacked into the door controls and ripped the door open.

"Move in!" Ferrintino shouted. The marines quickly ran into the darkness, turning their flashlights on one-by-one. The corridor was covered in sticky, green slime and blood. Shadows danced across the walls, jumping away from the soldier's lights. There was destruction all over the floor and walls, cowlings and panels ripped up and wires shredded. They moved through cautiously, not wanting the monsters to realize they were being invaded.

There were three corridors leading away from where they stood. Ferrintino signaled for one group of five to go the left, another to go to the right, and he moved his group forward. They walked forward, maintaining radio silence so as to not risk exposing themselves and compromising the mission. As they walked, they heard a human male scream; Ferrintino ordered the group to sprint to the area. When they arrived, they saw a Drone carrying a miner away by the scruff of his neck. He screamed for help, which seemed to annoy the Drone, who turned around and slashed him in the face with its claws. He growled with satisfaction at the unconscious man and continued to walk.

"Let's get him!" one of the marines whispered angrily. Ferrintino held him back.

"No! We have to follow it back to the hive. If we lose it, we could never find the hive and might lose all the miners that they have down there," he said.

The marine nodded and put his gun down by his side. Ferrintino moved the group forward after the Drone and his catch, following him for a few minutes until they reached a large double-door that was half open. The Drone slid through, picking up the man and pulling him gently through the crack in the door. The marines moved up and followed only when they were sure it was safe.

"Move forward!" Ferrintino whispered. The marines nodded and Ferrintino's friends lay their fingers on the triggers of their flamethrowers. They nodded as well and moved into the hive. It was dark and slime dripped from the ceiling, boxes littered the ground and broken pipes made puddles of water on the destroyed floor. They crouched and walked slowly, watching their surroundings until they reached their destination. The egg chamber.

As Ferrintino looked around, he saw the Queen hanging from the ceiling by thick strings of slime. She had a large egg sac attached to her abdomen. On the egg sac, a large, proboscis-like appendage continually spewed forth eggs onto the slimy webbing. There was a thin mist over the eggs, which became a lighter color whenever a Drone or Warrior walked into it.

"Three rules: we move in TOGTHER, you don't drop your gun unless your arm comes off with it, and DON'T - I repeat - DON'T show mercy, even to the little ones. Got it?" Ferrintino whispered strongly. He stepped into position, a little slice of shadow where he could give the marines some space and give himself a vantage point over the Xenos. He was about to give the signal the order to attack when a loud beep sounded throughout the room. Both Ferrintino and every Xeno in the room looked over to see Cramer smashing his watch with his fist.

"Damn it! Open fire!" Ferrintino shouted and immediately all of the marines, except Cramer, blew the nearest aliens to pieces. Coffer and Ruston torched the nearest Xenos with their flamethrowers. Ferrintino smiled and joined in, sending approaching aliens back in huge balls of flame. The sound of dying screams filled the room, drowning out the victorious cries of the marines.

So engaged in the battle were the soldiers, that they didn't notice the group of Warriors close in on them from behind. The Xenos attacked the occupied soldiers, biting necks, shredding flesh, and snapping bone with their claws and teeth. Ferrintino turned around just in time to see a Xeno jump towards him, teeth bared. He ducked, letting the alien hit the ground behind him, and spun towards it. He spun until his pulse rifle was aimed directly at its face and fired, tearing the Xenos head off and leaving its body spurting deadly blood over the floor. He stood up and continued to fight off the surrounding Xenomorphs, shooting and burning all in his path. He heard the screams of the dying again, human this time.

He turned and saw Cramer being torn to pieces by a Warrior. Cramer tried to remove the Xeno from him, but that only prompted the Warrior to grab Cramer's throat and rip it open.

"Nooo!" Ferrintino screamed as he ran towards the dead marine and the Xeno on top of him. He grabbed his rifle by the barrel and slammed it into the back of the Warrior's head. Ferrintino pulled back and cracked the alien again, and again, and again until its head was indistinguishable from the green slime it lay on.

Eventually, he realized that all of his marines had stopped firing and the Xenomorphs had stopped attacking. Coffer and Ruston were aiming their weapons at the surrounding enemies, panting and waiting for them to attack. They never did.

Ferrintino heard a quiet, wet clapping noise coming from the other side of the room. He looked over to see the monstrous Queen clicking her teeth at her soldiers and gatherers. She looked at the living marines, something equivalent to a smile for Xenomorphs played on her lips.

"Hello Anthony," she said gently as Tony's eyes widened. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

The end...for now...
