#7 of Split Souls

Taken a long time....

But actually this was written I guess a month ago or more. It's just sat on my computer waiting to be edited, yes I finally got around to it.

Cassie woke curled up among warm blankets and feeling relaxed. Her few seconds of confusion cleared when she remembered where she was. She couldn't help smiling remembering what happened the previous night, giving a mental nudge to Jared feeling him stir as she continued to wake up.

Tossing back the covers she got ready to clean up, she needed to get going because they had another big day ahead of them. Sitting up though left her feeling off and slightly confused. Not only was she on the opposite side of the large bed but her panties were back on as well, in fact. She gently rubbed her paw across the soft clean fur along her thighs before lightly tracing her crotch.

'Your welcome.' Jared thought lightly now that he was awake. Her surprise turned to a moment of displeasure and near anger. 'Hey, you and me, me and you. I knew you didn't want to sleep being dirty.' He thought.

She remembered planning on getting back up but after their play she had been content to just lay there and had evidently fallen asleep before actually getting up. Still his words did nothing for how she felt nor the slight worry she was feeling. 'You should have made sure I woke up.'

'I did my best to make sure you didn't.' He countered. 'I wanted to thank you.... for sharing.' ~'Yes but still you could have let me know.' ~ 'Cass you...' He stopped and fell silent. It took a lot of prodding before she finally got him to speak.

'You used my voice and my body just like it was your own, and now your upset because I did the same thing.' ~ 'No you took a shower and I wasn't even awake!' He might have laughed at her if he wasn't trying to be fully serious. 'Bath! I soaked in a big tub and cleaned up. I took my time to carefully dry and brush and you know what... I would expect the same from you! I knew you didn't want your fur all messed up and I made sure to be careful. YOU and ME Cassie. Together! We can't start putting up limitations. It would have been totally different if I wasn't sure what you wanted or if I thought I should ask. Listen, I'm sorry if it upset you but think about this, as close as we are and after what we just did.' He paused trying to correctly word his thoughts. 'If we had separate bodies and I gave you a bath, cleaned you up and tucked you in bed, would you still be upset?'

Finally after several seconds she answered aloud. "That would depend on what you did."

'Undress and I'll take over.' He told her flatly. The silence between the pair lasted for most of the morning until there was a knock on the suite door. Answering it Jared was first passed a packet of paperwork and then a separate sealed red and green envelope. He wasn't even sure if a tip was what was needed as he stared at the feline who was dressed in a unknown uniform. With a nod the other turned still not saying a word as he walked away. "Thank you." Jared called after him.

'The royal family colors.' Cassie thought out as he opened the letter pulling out a small card.

We will meet at one pm.

Go to the Grape Orchard.

Request to be lead to the

second private room.

Don't be late.

Jared checked the card several times along with the envelope and finding nothing more he moved towards the garbage. 'It's Ness.' She told him just as he was throwing it away. Grumbling he yanked the card back out of the waste bin and walked back to the main area tossing himself on the couch. "What do you want?" He asked still grumbling.

He waited just relaxing into the couch even to the point of pulling away enough to sort of float there with her. 'Privacy.' ~ 'How?' After a few seconds and her still not answering he stated. 'How can I give you what I don't have.'

'How can I really trust you?' She finally blurted out. 'Sure I said stuff but you were right there. You could have taken my body and done.. whatever.'There was a poor vision of her at a bar getting hit on by shadowy figures.

'You don't trust me? Your body? Cass how much do I have to give?' He asked they had been through this before but it obviously hadn't been enough.

'Well it's not like I can't see your thoughts.' She replied trying to get him to understand her side and why she had reason to worry.

'So you think I'll rape you? Or your sister. And you want privacy but you look at my private thoughts. I'm no different than I was before and what we did last night was for both of us. Do you, _really,_think I would do stuff to your body without your permission? It was a bath Cassie, a stupid bath and I was trying to help you out!' She could feel his anger along with several other things including strong disappointment.

'I know.' She thought quietly. 'I just, it felt really weird and wrong waking up in a different spot, and clean.'

'Like I haven't been there before.' He stated sarcastically. They both sat in silence for several moments. 'I say this and I hope you understand. You can, and have used my body however you wanted. I will only stop you when I don't want you to do what you're doing. I don't think you would ever really force me to do something when I tell you not to and I would never force you or your body to do something I know you wouldn't want me to. So let me just say this a little different. Your body IS my body and my body IS your body. We're in this together all the way, I can't give you half because there isn't half to give, so I'll give you ALL of me. There is nothing to hide, no secrets, and I hope you can trust me because if you can't than you're not trusting a part of yourself, that is what I am Cassie, a part of you and you are a part of me.'

"You made a promise," He spoke aloud. "that we would always be together. Now hear me. I swear Cassandra that I will treat your body as my own. I will care and keep your feeling first anytime I take an action with your body. I promise this under the Purelight." She felt the conviction he had as he spoke making sure she knew exactly how far he would go to keep her feelings and her body safe.

She was surprised though when he shushed her telling her not to make any promise now. Whether this would have lead to another disagreement or not had to be set aside for another knock on the door and they let Donald in.

Jared found the first real hitch with his plans was as he tried to get a new crest coin made. First the maker refused to have the royal crest on anything even thought it was the same insignia was on the Braytant. Second he would not alter Jared's crest and he seemed far more interested in who made it and where it came from. The crest was obvious very old and Jared had easily made the connection to Ferrondance line once Lady Lindara had mentioned it. 'Contri Turest Nartharin' Rule From Above. Which showed a figure jumping down off what looked like a tree limb overhead. What little he had been able to look up and what he knew from school was that until seven hundred years ago the old Rodalin Empire had been ruled by the Ferrondance line for dozens of generations. The empire was more than half forest and the ruling line had cultivated and grown great oak trees creating living watch towers and posts to help rule the lands. As a boy the first and only time he had caught a glimpse of the crest coin he had thought it was someone jumping up to the branch which was how he was hoping to have the crest altered to, someone reaching up, climbing up.

Frustrated and running short on time he tried again. "The house is dead and part of history. All I'm asking is that you change it and cast a new crest."

"And All I'm telling you young man is that no one would be stupid enough to do what you ask. Especially with out research to insure I don't accidentally copy a true family crest and I surely won't put the imperial crest on the other side, it's unheard of."

When the shop owner finally ordered Jared to leave he had no choice but to allow Cassie to step in. She grabbed a script off his counter and began writing an account number and the amount of five thousand nearly double the quote Jared had received at first. With her own voice she spoke. "You _will_follow a royal order!" She suddenly grabbed their muzzle as if trying to cover it. 'Relax Jared.' In a slightly stuttering voice she continued as Jared. "She, I, I will bring the princess back later today to approve the royal crest."

With her own voice she continued. "You will start shaping an image as requested today! I expect the piece to be done the morning after next and if you can produce an adequate piece I will double the price and I expect you to remember one of the royal family WILL be wearing this. I assume you understand what it would mean to deny him now!"

She stepped back letting Jared take control again. The owner was still staring and half stunned by the sudden change leaving Jared to shrug and hold up his wrist shaking the Braytant. "Can you start now?" He asked quietly.

It was several moments before the other answered. "I will not be held responsible for this, if we..."

"Fine!" Jared interrupted. "The princess will be here later and give her approval and I'm sure she will not allow any other family to lay claim to the crest."

"Very well, uh Sir. There still needs to be a house registered, a motto, and... the High Lord's approval."

"You see all that and as far as the approval I'm sure you will be contacted by the end of the week but we need the crest done in two days." Jared hurried as he left rushing back to the car and receiving Donald's admonishment about being late.

The Grape Orchard was the largest dining establishments in the inner city that featured both inside and outside garden areas each sectioned off for privacy. The problem was he was told that all the private rooms were occupied and the greeter, who he quickly found out was the owner, refused to interrupt any patron who had already begun their meal. Showing the envelope and note only made it harder and telling him who he was here to see changed nothing. The owner pointed out the obvious, he was late and told him he could either leave or wait until the guests finished.

He was about to try again as Cassie suddenly started laughing in the background telling him she had already told Nessandra they were here. With in seconds a young looking fox in a light green dressed showed up with two feline escorts. She waved the owner back before giving Jared a full once over while he did the same. His first realization came from Cassie, 'It's Alexander!'

They studied the other harder trying to pick out differences but little was given away showing the other fox was a tod, even the voice was soft and lightly feminine. "I was expecting to see my sister."

Jared held up the card. "And I was expecting to see Lady Nessandra."

The frown and lightest growl was not missed as the fox spun away. "Follow!"

He was led through a short maze of partitions before they walked down a long hallway to the back of the building. Cassie stewed slightly watching her brother flanked by his two guards, dress shifting and tail held high, waving back and forth with his hips. 'I don't care he is going to learn!' She thought loudly.

Before Jared could even ask what she was thinking or going to do the young fox waved causing one of the guards to turn and stand in Jared's way. Without bothering to look back the vulpine opened the door stating. "Stay there until you're called."

By the time the door shut Cassie was on the edge of blowing up. Morphing both head and paw to her own she growled raising a glowing paw. "By order of the first Princess step aside, or I swear the next thing you'll guard is the darkest storage closet I can find." The feline shivered as he tried to stand firm against the pair. She moved forward holding her palm out as the other gave several feet staying just ahead of her hand.

As she reached behind him with her other paw to open the door he finally spoke. "I'm sorry Lady." He moved fast but Cassie was more than ready flicking her paw up to tag his shoulder as he tried to grab her arms.

Jared felt the jolt of energy leave their body and was unable to do anything as the guard gave a half gasp before jerking up and dropping to the floor as she stepped out of the way of the falling body.'Cass, you..'

'He should be okay.' She quickly thought back more than just a little shocked at herself as she looked back up from one guard to the other waving him back. She walked unimpeded through the door as she opened it ordering the first guard she saw. "YOU! Make sure he's alright."

Together they scanned the room finding several people seated at the small table or on the two couches against the walls. Alexander had moved around the table and pulled out a chair looking totally shocked as Nessandra, who was seated next to him, shook her head. Neither had a clue as to the rest of the people in the room but Cassie didn't care as she advanced on her brother.

"Listen Alexander, it's bad enough your in a dress strutting around like a female in heat but the next time you ignore me or treat me like that I will make your life as unpleasant as I can!" The young fox had recovered quickly moving around the table and putting both his paws up to defend himself as she advanced on him.

"Lady Cassandra please have a seat, Lady Alexandria is not thinking properly and maybe going through her first heat. I should have asked someone else to get you. I'm sorry." Nessandra's words were a bit confusing but the serious and calming feeling she was projecting towards her twin seemed to help.

'Let me.' Jared told her taking back full control. "Prince... Princess I am Jared Ferannce." Even while he spoke the other turned away ignoring both of their anger. "Listen little brat!" the pair actually spoke in unison with out meaning to.

"Scum." Alexandria was far swifter than they expected turning her body and paws landing several glowing strikes against Jared's chest. As Nessandra jumped up shouting and several others scrambled up Jared twisted the energies as they struck his body. Instead of whatever the fox had planned He felt a light pin-prickling sensation along with the pain of the paw blows against his chest.

Reacting the ferret struck out against the other's muzzle slapping her head enough to make her yip as she stumbled back. When Jared raised his own paw drawing on his energies it didn't glow but burned with a dark blue color. He tried to take a step forward but Cassie was already acting. "Maybe I should make sure you wear my paw for the rest of your life!" She barked out already taking another step forward towards her sib as Jared held them back.

"It's my paw now Cassie and me who he insulted." He spoke quietly.

"Jared please." Nessandra called out. The worry in her voice worked on everyone in the room as the younger princess ducked away still holding her muzzle while the guards near the door finally jumped forward. For Jared his anger was already gone before a guard grabbed his wrist and the light faded.

"HOLD!" Nessandra suddenly ordered as they pulled Jared away forcing him to the wall. She moved quickly around the table and pushing the two guards away turning Jared so she could look at him. He wasn't the only one surprised as she embraces him in a hug which he returned.

More than a little shocked by what her sister did Alexandria tried to stop her as she went back to her seat. "Sis you can't..." *SMACK * The noise was accompanied by another yip as Alexandria whined tightly gripping the other side of her face where Nessandra backhanded her.

"I swear the next time you try to hurt either of them I'll destroy every dress you have and leave you with only boys clothes. Sit down and Shut Up!" She glared down at the other who seemed ready to speak before she literally dove for her chair. She turned and waved Jared to a chair before taking her own.

When everyone was finally seated again and Jared had been served some food the second princess spoke. "First Cass I'm sorry. Alexandria shouldn't have come, she's been a serious irritation and has been deliberately defying mother and father. In fact there's just about no one left she listens too."

Voicing the question for both of them Jared asked. "We always understood Alexander was, well male."

The younger fox let out a growl poking at what was left of his meal with a fork. "I know Cass wasn't old enough to know. I didn't even learn about it till I was much older but she was born special. Father wanted two sons and two daughters so he had magic used to suppress the female side. It wasn't until several years ago when she tried to remove her own male parts with a knife that father finally listened. Sadly she refused to allow any mage to work with her beyond the initial healing trying to force everyone to accept her as a female."

"I'm female in every way that matters!" Alexandria stated firmly. Jared kept his mouth closed digesting the information while Cassie prodded him to speak a few moments later.

"Ness we need some help."

Alex slammed a paw against the table. "SEE?! He has no respect I don't care what you think, or who he is he shouldn't even be here."

"Alex I will remind you once more where you are. This is not a public area nor is it a formal setting. I am talking with my sister and a good friend. I know both have plenty of respect but you have been acting like a little prick the entire time."

Cassie spoke next. "If you think this is about how you should be addressed then you had better start calling him Master Jared and me Lady Cassandra. I am the First born princess not the Third!" She stood as she spoke grabbing the waist of the pants and straining the buttons of the shirt as she transformed. "Make no mistake little brother or sister I am the second born child of Lady Lindara and there is no one who can say otherwise."

"You realize you might have to swear that in front of the court, under magic, and likely even under the light your family is so fond of." Cassie studied lioness as she sat at one of the couches taking in everything that had gone on but not saying anything until now.

"Cass, Lady Rhylock, Alexandria's tutor." Nessandra put in.

"One should add the Princess has only been under my eyes for the past year." She quickly put in.

Jared begged Cassie to keep quiet but she still spoke. "I see, that has me wondering if there's incompetence or stupidity involved." The lioness didn't even twitch with the word before she turned back to study the younger fox. "I'm surprised mother hasn't taken things into hand."

"Mother has tried but our sister seems to be able to slip around most punishments and responsibilities." Her twin answered.

"Well things change." Cassie predicted getting a sudden full smile from her sister.

"It's good to see you both, now what did you need help with this time." Cassie gave one more glance around the room before sitting back down shifting the body back to Jared who squirmed just a little to get his clothes to settle.

"I had some problems with a metal smith down the way concerning the creation of a house crest and the fact I asked to have the royal insignia be placed on the back side. I was hoping to create a visual reference that we could turn without having to change each time." Jared said.

"I remember. So you want me to go there?"

"Well that would help but he's balking at altering the crest I have. I gave him an altered design, motto, and a house name, not that he really believed me. He says I still have to register and have the High Lord's approval. Are you sure about the title?" He asked.

"Definitely I already spoke with Father, after all you've done you also saved my life and others." She stated.

"You didn't tell them did you?" Jared had to ask.

"Neither is very pleased you just left. In fact they were quite upset, I was only able to stop them because they didn't want to order a search for Cassandra and I swore you just needed some space and would come back. I asked them both last night to leave you alone and had a note sent to you. I got them to agree to wait until the weekend." She grinned across the table knowing five more days was plenty of time.

"And Drake?" Alex seemed to huff and there was a mutter from others in the room with the informal use of the prince's name.

"I'm not sure. At first he was all for sending someone to track you down. 'For the Princess's safety.' He claimed. Now he seems even more interested, last night was something about tracking your accounts and finding out where you've been."

"Do you think he'll be there?"

"I'm not sure anyone is going to be there besides father and some others." Nessandra told him.

"Where?" Alex suddenly demanded. Both were silent just watching the young fox before she finally dipped her head back down.

"I'm sure Alex and I can stop at the shop and make them understand the importance of finishing a crest for you." She told Jared.

"Why should I." She whined, before Nessandra could answer Jared deliberately dropped his fork onto the plate making it clatter before picking it back up and placing it on the table.

"Princess Alexandria would you please accompany you sister, having two of the royal family would make more of an impression."

"You want a favor from me?" Jared nodded in answer. "Fine but I want you to answer some questions first." Jared waited while the young fox stared at him.

"Do you have a penis?" The entire room seemed to stumble for a moment before both the princess and Lady Rhylock began speaking about how wrong and inappropriate that was.

Before the lecture even started Jared spoke loudly, "Yes I do!"

"And does Cassandra have one too?" Before the room could spiral out of control Cassie spoke.

"Of course I don't. Nessandra and I are twins, exactly the same in every way."

In the quiet that followed the young fox asked trying to understand. "Then do you have both or not?"

"Princess Alexandria! This is far to much. You will stop this now, there is no reason for you to act like this. And YOU won't answer that." Lady Rhylock turned towards Jared.

"That s not your decision." Cassie's voice started while Jared's finished. "I would find it funny if you tried to stop me."

The lioness opened her muzzle watching him smirk before closing it again. When she turned to Nessandra all she got was a simple shrug. "This is beyond inappropriate! Your parents would never allow this."

"Ignoring such a question would be wrong. I admit I am curious as to her.. features and that would be inappropriate to ask. However she has found someone for the first time who might be like her. Denying her to find out would be like denying herself. Alexandria, I am male and was born that way. Cassandra is female and was born that way. Her soul has been in my body for a long time, until recently all she really knew was male. When we, when she finally changed Cassandra became all female and I began to find out what it was like to be a female. Honestly I was more than an little uncomfortable and scared when we changed. I thought my life was over and that she would take over. We made a choice though, to always be together. You can't have one with out the other. We are a male and a female sharing one body and even though we could take over both parts I don't think we could be both at the same time."

"Do you have any other questions?" Jared asked after explaining. Lady Rhylock seemed ready to throw herself onto the table to prevent that. Alex though seemed ready to burst with questions shifting in her seat but finally she shook her head.

"If you wish to talk later in private I don't mind, especially if no one else is willing to tell you. I do know what it's like to be a female trapped with a male body." Cassie told her.

Jared added in. "I would be happy to talk as well. It might not help much but I am trying to understand my other half but both of us have a suggestion. Be who you want, if you feel like a male then be a male." Then Cassie took over changing her head to match her words, "When you feel like a female, then be a female. Stop trying to force yourself to be only one."

"This is foolishness. Princess Alexandria already made her choice. Her parents..."

"Will be spoken to this evening!" Nessandra interrupted the lioness. "A ten year old is far to young to make decisions that will effect the rest of her life. Whatever Mother and Father think I'm sure the three of us will stand behind you Alex. They haven't even known you and hour and already they can sense your troubles." She spoke pointing a paw at Jared.

"Princess Nessandra you should already understand your family _Must_keep up appearances and practices." Lady Rhylock stated.

"As interesting as it would be having you explain how I don't understand my own family or its obligations I will not allow my sister to mutilate herself again just so she can break free of proper court appearances. You may have a seat Lady Rhylock I am beginning to believe you are not the person who needs to continue tutoring Alexandria."

Not bothering to sit down she headed for the door. "As you wish. I can be found back at court if needed after I have reported to your parents."

Finally Nessandra was able to turn the topic back to Jared and Cassie inquiring how the past few days went showing a great deal of interest in Jared's inheritance and the fact he might contribute to the historical palace's event and even went so far as to suggest that Cass needed to speak with their mother about the event and possible things that could be done.

When things wound down Jared was prodded to ask. "Ness, do you know anything about an incident that happened in the Clay Hall that involved my father?"

"No, neither Mother nor Father have been willing to talk much about you, at least not to me. Although I have heard a few rumors the past few days now that the name Ferannce has popped up." She answered.

"It's not likely something you will hear, nor is it something you should be bringing up." The answer came from a very old and worn goat who had been sitting at the end of the table.

Jared blew out a puff of air. "Ppphfff. I wouldn't bring it up if I knew what happened. Those who know won't say and for some reason I feel like it's something I should know."

"Yes the young always feel or think they should be told what they want to hear." There was a slight crinkle to his muzzle as if trying to smile. "I will leave out the names but let's say you have inherited a few enemies along with some friends. Your father upset, ignored, and out right humiliated a certain person. When he caught your mother and threatened her life Aurthur nearly killed him. In retaliation this person and his brother drew together several Lords who were unhappy with several things your father did. With three mages in tow they drew in and trapped your father in the Clay Hall." Taking a breath the old ram held his hands together in a rectangle.

"The entrances for the hall are at the ends and there were several very old colored glass windows on this side, high up on the wall. As several men moved to stop him from leaving the mages struck. Even now no one is sure what happened, only that your father rebounded the magic and it struck several windows which melted and exploded. The bits were flung across those pursuing him and soaked into the floor, clothing, and fur. With in moments most were violently ill and the odor was... sickening. Several claimed it was like a dozen skunks, while others thought it was close to rotting flesh left in the sun. Either way it took months to remove the smell, whether it was in the hall or on a person, all the clothing was burned."

After a long pause he stated, "It is not something usually discussed. Aurthur was brought to the mages council and accused of performing illegal and deadly magic. He was detained for several weeks as they tried to figure out what magic he used. In the end it was found the magic used against him plus the fact that several had weapons and were trying to kill him allowed a claim he was trying to defend himself without using proper magic and that got him free. What happened and the lingering smell was just the side effect. You should realize your father made several enemies who might think getting revenge against his son acceptable."

'Their welcome to try!' Jared thought. He would have spoke that out loud if Cassie wasn't already speaking. "Were there other times Aurthur Ferannce used magic in an odd way?"

"I know that the mages council had several disagreements with Aurthur and tried to keep a watch on him, and that they were hoping to find evidence during the investigation that would prove he had used illegal magic or endangered the public. Young Jared you would be wise to keep away from any mage especially the council."

"To late." Jared chimed out making sure to beat Cassie. The old goat just shook his head as Cassie replied. "He has used magic several times to protect his own life and mine. If the mages council doesn't like how he's done it they will just have to live with it."

"Of course princess, but neither the High Lord or Lady would deliberately antagonize the council."

"My magic only really effects my body or what is directed at it. If the council wants to come after me they are going to have to prove I'm endangering anyone beyond myself." Jared responded. Talk continued for a while before Nessandra suggested they leave. Before he was fully comfortable in the car Donald had it forward and moving.

"I hope you're not to full were heading to a early dinner." After a small argument which he lost Jared was on his way to another restaurant, the best one outside the inner city. Donald had explained that Bervante had gotten him an invitation to a private party for several of the prominent businessmen and lords who were participating in Lord Callen's event. The feline's argument had been that it didn't matter where he planned to be next week, today he had the chance to meet and impress many important people. Cassie was all for the idea of Jared forging some potential allies or friends especially if he could do it without them knowing she existed.

Although his clothes were considered nice he was nearly under dressed for the event being allowed in with a little effort. He stepped to the side of the elegant entry hall looking over the area that was packed with groups and waiters that were weaving through the area carrying alcohol and hors-d'oeuvres. Cassie didn't let him stay still for long urging him into the main dining room and beyond. There were several areas were people would normally eat, along with the main room which had been perfectly set with three long tables and a small stage at one end. He had no idea what it would look like normally but everything around him spoke of wealth and power.

He knew that people at times were staring at him several showing interest but even with Cassie's advice he hadn't yet actually spoken with anyone and was getting nervous thinking about it. His moves were not lost upon the staff and persons helping to host the event and his careful inspections as apposed to open gawking kept them from drawing him aside or ushering him out. Their silent inquires did confirm he was to be here which was enough for the staff and that just left a few of the organizers trying to decide if they should do anything at all.

When he walked into a back dining room full of males laughing and drinking enjoying the end of a good story which Jared had only heard a small part, but when the words.. "No, no the High Lord actually congratulated him." Cassie acted. Amidst the laughter she took and empty chair next to the table and pulled it closer to the wall and sat down. The action seemed to catch several peoples attention and Cassie just gave a firm nod to those that looked or glared at him.

"Is there some way we can help you?" One of the men finally asked alerting the rest of the room to his presence.

"Just curious. I heard the High Lord mentioned. Did you know I was recently thanked by him as well?"

That bought a few laughs, "What did you clean up a mess as well?"

"Oh nothing so stupid or foolish. I actually saved the princess." Cassie stated firmly with Jared's voice.

There was silence at first, then a few small laughs followed by amusement all around as glasses were raised towards Jared's direction. "Well done young man, tell us of your oh so miraculous feats." Voices chimed in demanding details of swords and death, perilous situations, and a grateful High Lord.

'Cassie they think it's a joke.' ~ 'Was it?' She shot back, 'Drunks can be fools but tell the truth and let them decide.' She stepped back so that when he shook his head with a light growl his body echoed it allowing a few to hear.

"Gentlemen, come now we've gone and upset the young man. Tell us what tale do you have."

'Go easy.' Cassie offered as he started. "It's not a joke, nor is it a tale, as it happens I was a River Rush a few weeks ago."

"YOU?! What did you just stroll in?" He didn't pinpoint the speaker and he was close to standing and leaving even with Cassie's objections.

He spoke loudly over the other most of it laughter. "ONE does NOT open a gate and walk on the paths of River Rush without getting tackled and grounded into the rocky paths by some very swift security. I probably would have been twisted into a knot and thrown into a cell if Lady Nessandra had not intervened. As it was I did spend the night locked in the back cabins until again Lady Nessandra intervened. It took some time but after the High Lady heard my story and knowing who my father was it was decided to allow me to stay since to many, interesting things had happened." his stress on the word seemed to peek the interest of several of the group. Jared skipped to the morning and moved to Nessandra's invitation to swim which seemed to bring a few more chuckles and one lewd comment about swimming naturally.

"Gentlemen!" A heavy mug hit the table. "We are not going to hear the end of the story if you keep interrupting." It was a well groomed and perfectly dressed german shepherd whom looked at Jared. "You swam with the princess?"

"No. I wasn't feeling well and it didn't help that Drentan was nearly growing at me. First he seemed upset that I was even invited as a guest to swim than more upset that I refused the invitation." Not quite true and he tried to avoid the shepherd now intently watching him. 'Keep going.' Cassie encouraged when he stopped. 'Easy for you to say.' He countered then slid back as she spoke up.

"For anyone who has ever felt the feeling that something was horribly wrong knows what I'm saying now. It was a shock sitting there on the deck resting and suddenly knowing something was very wrong. I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing but I jumped up and raced to the water as fast as I could." Cassie held up his paws trying to make motions to help explain. "There is this wall above the water line and the docks stick out. When I jumped up I was able to run down the guard rail for the side of the dock. There were three large Glant in the water."

"THREE... Amazing." someone blurted out interrupting. "I would have expected hundreds, all swarming the docks and piling over the swimmers. WHAT!" The small ram shouted after being poked several times by a neighbor trying to get him to shut up.

"No just three. Each over four feet with a mouth at least a foot wide." The few head shakes and snorts that accompanied his voice were silenced even as Jared told Cassie they should leave.

"I have seen one, its not a joke."

Cassie had already locked eyes with the speaker. "And what did the mages have to say about them?"

"Mages there... I was told they were likely grown with the assistance of magic."

"They were breed and released into the river in hopes of killing some of the royal family." The statement was received with total silence as Cassie told Jared to continue. "I wasn't even sure what I was doing I just felt compelled to try and save Ness.. Lady Nessandra. I used a little magic boosting my jump off the dock. I was barely in time when I flipped the magic and dropped on the Glant. I hit it hard enough to crush it against the riverbed but it flipped and I think it smacked me in the chest. I was struggling in the water, I really wasn't even sure what was happening but I knew that the princess and several others had gotten out of the water by then. Someone tossed something out trying to get the Glant but I ended up grabbing the rope and they yanked me out of the water. I don't know how I ended up stumbling into the princess but she gave me a hug. Her father, I mean the High Lord was there and ordered everyone back to the house. Lady Nessandra was adamant about me saving her life and Lord Marverath agreed for two reasons. One I was being watched and when I charged towards the water more than a dozen security took of after me which brought help to everyone and second because I stopped the Glant that was less than a foot away from catching the princess. I was told later that they had to fight and kill two of them while the third was captured and put up no fight."

"Well that was quite the story. Tell me Duran did you but the kid up to this?" A voice asked.

"Listen I said I saw the Glant not where it came from nor what had happened." The other protested.

Jared stood up. "Fine you idiots can't take the truth, I don't know why I stayed here so long to be insulted and called a liar."

"Lord Jared.... and my Lords. This was not quite what I hoped for when I asked you to come." Bervante stood at the door dressed in long robes of light gray and brown. As he shifted Jared noticed that his wings were also covered by the same kind of cloth.

"So this is the one?" The German Shepherd from before asked.

"Indeed Lord Callen. Young Lord Jared he...'

"Him a LORD?!" One of the older canines scoffed. "We don't need any more poor, stupid, irritating children. I have to deal with far to many." Jared said nothing and even Cassie was quiet in the silence of the room.

If it was a test of power or ability Jared felt like playing it by his own rules waiting until it seemed like the only noise was coming from outside the room as voices and echoes came from down the hallway. He shook his head lightly, "My name is Jared Ferannce, son of Aurthur Ferannce. I might excuse ignorance but not arrogance. YOU would do well to mind that thick tongue of yours." While several of the younger ones of the room actually seemed eager at the thought of confrontation several of those who were older seemed to shift as the name registered.

"Yes of course, Lord Jared would you please come with me." Bervante seemed to be almost pleading.

The older canine already trapped by his own words snarled back. "Do not use such a title especially in here. He shouldn't even have stepped past the door. Only true noble lines are allowed in here."

'You can't!' Cassie warned even as Jared began chuckling. "A house, crest, lands, motto, money, title... I have all of those and a good deal more. Your little rules mean nothing." The tension in the room increased and darkened with his claim at a title.

"Lords please." Bervante started again from the door. "Lord Jared I spoke with your driver. Would you please tell them where you spent lunch." When he didn't answer answer the avian continued. "With Princess Nessandra right?"

"And the Prince or Princess depending on how you view Alexander." He stated quietly.

"And of course you're here now to help Lord Callen with his exposition. Your father had very fine treasures which would come close to equaling the entire collection Lord Callen has set up."

"NO. Should I choose, I could set up a exhibition far superior." Jared stated standing a little straighter trying to put out a slightly arrogant pose.

While Bervante quickly tried to explain and lesson Jared's words Cassie was asking for permission on several things and then told him that if he really wanted his own money and respect this was the way to do it. "Lord Callen." Cassie started with Jared's voice. "ALL of us could spend the entire evening arguing over power, alliances, and petty things like money and monetary items. True I am not in the best attire but I hadn't planned on being here when I got up this morning and now I'm afraid I don't have any more time to waste because I have other things I must attend to."

She gave a little chuckle, "Some here might see me as a nuisance or a threat but I wish to dispel that. I was told you wished this event to portray different styles and types of monetary exchange. I will ask you to take it a step farther, adding a bit of history would have made my father happy. I will help you improve your display to improve both high and low quality pieces showing how age and time effect everything. I would like to see a small amount of stress placed on preservation of not just old but new as well. I have entire year sets going back through Mystalane's founding and most of the other countries as well showing how preservation of the past can make sure we save items for the future. I have a complete set of five rising suns: good, fair, worn, ruined, and unknown showing how time destroys. Also I am willing to display a Pyrone, Ah-Trone, and Trone. Sadly though if I do that I will likely have to auction the Trone. I think half of those profits will be split between the Malkay Government and the Historical Palace while the other half will go to other groups I choose." She had added on the last part hastily as Jared thought it up before allowing him to take over again.

"Auction?" The avian squeaked when Cassie finished making Jared take over causing him to suppress the sigh he was giving mentally.

More than half the room was stunned, followed by all the others as Lord Callen stood up and walked forward offering his paw to the ferret. "A truly great offer. I would be very pleased to have your assistance and I believe the idea of preservation is an excellent idea. I turned down several items because of a standard I set, but now, that will be changed. Will you have time soon to discuss things?" The shepherd asked.

"I am going to be far to busy the next few weeks and it will take time to have the collection moved to the Imperial Bank."

"Imperial Bank.. YOU!!" Jared had yanked his paw away glaring back at the table trying to find out who had spoken filled with irritation and anger at everyone who kept doubting him, he even went so far as to borrow Cassie's growl making it seem much fiercer than he could have done on his own.

"The ignorant should stay SILENT until they know what they are talking about." Amidst the shifting and unsure glances around the table Lord Callen spoke.

"Lord Jared... interesting. Bervante you do seem to collect the most intriguing characters. Tell me Jared is the story you told true?"

"I haven't lied. I did go to River Rush, I met the Princess and saved her life. I was thanked by Lord Marverath and spoke with him several times. I am having a crest made with MY House and I have a great deal to do by the end of the week. And yes I did have lunch with Lady Nessandra and Alexandria. Beyond that I won't say any more because it would likely upset the High Lady."

The shepherd shook slightly trying to contain himself before laughing out. "I figured that Lady Lindara was involved. I know well how she handles anything she finds_interesting_. Send me a message when you have time I have a feeling it will be a most eventful meeting."

Cassie was congratulating him as he stepped into the hall on how well he did. She stated he likely left most of the room curious enough to want to find out who he was and hopefully he could make a few more good connections. Bervante lead him off to a quieter side hall where they could speak.

"My Lord do you have any idea what will happen if you try to sell a Trone? Even allowing it into the exposition will be risky."

"I'm sorry but I have to do what I think is necessary. Likely I am going to lose both! You should have known I would never just sell one. If you're upset with our agreement then just tell me." Jared stated.

He watched as the avian mouthed 'two' before trying to regain control of himself. Jared could almost see the ruffled feathers under the robes trying to settle as he worked to contain himself and digest that bit of knowledge. "You're right, I am the one who should apologize. You did what was necessary and did it rather well. Lord Callen will undoubtedly support fully you no matter what happens and there are some at that table who would do much to try and work their idea or group to be one of those to receive some of the profit from such a sale. You've also just made this auction one of the largest in decades if not ever. All in all, you announced your presence masterfully since everyone in that room will be scrambling to figure out who you are in the coming days." The bird suddenly gave him a full bodied stare as if trying to find something hidden. "I would ask for your confidence. I will agree to whatever you wish but you are making changes, ones that a person properly informed could prosper from."

"What is it that you are asking?" He stated flatly.

"Donald has been closed mouthed concerning what you told him. Even with what I've heard or guessed there are still some things that...."

"Out with IT!" Jared interrupted, "No don't explain." He stated when the bird opened its mouth.

"You are going to bring Princess Casandra home." Bervante stated, definitely not questioning.

'Let me.' Cassie told him. 'Sure you're the one he's asking about.' She cleared their throat and tried to deepen her own voice to mask it, female but husky. "You can do better than that."

"Do... Do I stand before the first born female of the High Lord and Lady?"

Using her true voice she answered. "No you stand before Jared Ferannce and the soul of another. If you stood before the first princess, it would be a female with the soul of a ferret you know."

"I had guessed something but that is just.." He trailed off.

"Now imagine how I felt hearing a voice say 'Ness it's me.' coming from my own mouth or trying to explain to the High Lady that the voice in my head wanted to be her daughter. You are right a great deal is changing and even with the first prince dragging out records and mages tests no one has even a small amount of proof to deny her claim." Jared gave a heavy sigh leaning against the wall. "We ask you not to say anything."

"Of course. Would you allow me the honor of greeting the first princess?" Bervante asked.

"In time." Jared spoke the answer for her. "Right now I still have a lot more work to do."

"I would happily offer my services and assistance." The bird quickly offered.

"Sorry this is paperwork at the records office and other things." Jared answered.

Somethings though are far more difficult than what they sound like. There were records to be pulled up and forms to be filled but that was only the beginning of his problems. His mothers side showed several living relatives all of whom basically cut their ties legally, when Lidity married Aurthur. Her house and rights were removed and she changed her name to Rose but that hadn't ended her friendships nor the connections she held. His fathers history was far harder. Eventually he got help from one of the older record keepers who looked at him strangely when he tried to inquire showing he could only find four generations and a Hr15 mark.

They had already looked at the codes of several royal and noble lines many giving a mark so you only had to look back so far before you came to a line that was already fully traced. In no time he was handed an folder with a single sheet of paper showing his father, grandfather, and great grandfather with status explaining no living relatives and had the royal seal at the bottom. 'Mother!' Cassie suddenly said. 'She knows more than she said and she knew your line, what is she hiding?'

"Excuse me, don't I..."

"THAT is all you will need. An Hr15 is simply a dead line with no connections." He was quickly given a reply.

"Do they always have the royal seal?" Cassie quickly asked with his voice.

"I wouldn't know about that." Was the answer they were given as it seemed the three record keepers were now needed to do other things leaving him standing there.

He went back with what he thought he needed and began to fill out more paperwork showing the fact he had no relatives who could make a claim against his house, but when it was found out he was actually trying to create a new house not revive an older one, things somehow went wrong. Jared found himself quickly restrained then pulled aside when they found out he had already commissioned a crest coin. And when Cassie spoke more guards were called and he sat detained and under guard as Cass tried to send a mental summons to her sister.

The Braytant was suddenly damning evidence and when they uncovered it and the palace was informed. When an official from the palace arrive with a full squad of guards Jared was pushed forward. Rather than just be passed off he kicked out at the guards on either side of him freeing himself enough and allowed Cassie to draw her power making his bound paws glow causing several of the guards to draw their swords.. "I demand you verify this Braytant! It was given to me by the High Lady herself!"

The two mage guards who had stepped forward to fully restrain him were left shocked as their weaves literally rebounded off him and gained power aiming back at their casters leaving them suddenly dropping to the floor unable to move.

In a voice loud enough to be heard by all Cassie spoke again this time using her own voice. "By the will of the first princess Lady Casandra you will all STOP! Lower your weapons and stand ready!" Most looked around unsure and the guards still held their weapons but several glanced to the official for guidance. 'Good.' She stepped forward ignoring those that turned towards her and glared at those that stood between her and the official. Finally getting a guard to step sideways she pointed at the male holding up their wrist. "Authenticate this! Lady Lindara's wish should have been enough but you are now going to help him finish what was started!"

The official stood there watching Jared considering before he spoke. "I have never heard of Lady Lindara giving a Braytant to anyone, certainly not you. I'm not sure what is going on here but I will find out." Jared suddenly felt nearly sick as feelings of dread filled his being as the guards stepped closer.

Lucky for him something else happened besides the guards grabbing his arms. "Jared Ferannce by order of Prince Drentan you are now to keep one guard with you at all times. While you are within the capital city one of us will always be with you." Everyone gave way as three of the elite palace guards stepped forward and Cassie recognized the hare Lorran.

When his paws were freed the captain grabbed one and dropped a ring into it. "You will be tracked at all times now and are ordered to appear at the royal palace before the week ends."

Jared gave a small sigh knowing things were going to be a lot more difficult now. "Well could you maybe help me out with my current problems so I can make sure I'm done by the end of the week?"

It was several hours past dark when everything was finished. Jared had the paperwork going back through his linage proving no one else could protest his taking control and leading a house which was now started but put on hold until there was a royal approval. The work was also done for the family motto and with some advice he changed it slightly to be "Canstane Callota Medievant" 'Reaching further to Achieve' as apposed to his original idea of 'Reaching the Unattainable'. He felt it was much more fitting in so many ways since it better matched his crest and in a sense seemed to be what his family seemed to be good at.

Donald barely raise an eyebrow as the tree guards climbed into the car with him. His only question before he started the vehicle was. "Does this change much?"

After a silent drive back Jared told him. "Come up and we'll discuss it."

The guards, besides Lorran, had done nothing but give their names until they got to the hotel making him stand in the hall for several minutes while they inspected his rooms. Jared and Cassie spent several moments watching the two feline guards as Lorran basically told them that they wouldn't interrupt any of his plans. "The first prince was upset that you might harm an imperial guard if you came across them with the Braytant since it's not known that you have one. It was decided it would be easier to keep a watch on you and prevent any problems, any more problems. One of us is ordered to stay with you at all times. We will do our best to not interfere unless your doing something that might cause you harm or make a large problem."

"So how much of a problem are you going to be to our plans?" Cassie asked. "Are you reporting to my brother about what we do?"

"No Lady Cassandra. Technically we are here for you both although the order was for Jared. We were asked to keep watch and protect, not report." Lorran replied.

"And if we don't return to the palace?" She pressed.

"We were asked to return you by Sunday afternoon at the latest. I would sincerely hope that you would choose to return before then."

"We'll see.." ~ "Cass." Jared spoke talking over her. "We will be heading to the court on the petitioner's day." Lorran stood there with out a single reaction.

"Well?" Cassie finally asked. Instead of answering the hare nodded and one of the felines left while the other took a position near the door.

"Donald correct? Will you be continuing as his driver?" Lorran asked.

"I don't have a problem with it. I've driven around a few body guards before."

"I have no problems with you or your vehicle, and your record is among the best. What time will you be here tomorrow?"

Donald looked at Jared and half shrugged before answering. "After lunch we have two stops set I think maybe a bit more."

"Are you going to ignore me?" Cassie asked quietly. Lorran stopped then turned and walked back until he was standing mere inches away from Jared.

"My job is to keep one guard with you at all times. It doesn't matter where you go or what you plan to do. I will do my best to make sure both of you are safe at all times and that is all I plan to do. Jared already gave a promise to protect the two of you, we are only here to help with that."

"And will you follow a royal command?" She demanded.

"As long as it doesn't contradict the orders I have been given." He answered.

"So if I ordered you to not contact the palace or any member of my family or the court you.."

"Would disobey!" Lorran interrupted. "IF we ran into any problems I would be required to report and ask for assistance."

Pausing for a moment she reworded what she wanted. "So if I asked you not to report what we are doing, or where we are going?"

"I would agree but I would remind the princess that the ring is a tracer unit. You will be pinpointed and traced anytime someone chooses to. Now if I maybe permitted an answer, Why are you doing this and why are you attempting to keep things private?" The hare asked.

"It's my wish." Jared answered, "At first everyone thought I had some scheme or was trying for money or something. I left because I wanted to prove I could get what I needed without using any part of the royal families money or power." The look of disgust Donald gave said more than enough. "Cassie and I decided to take it further, yes she is helping me but we're in this together anyways. She thinks it's best if I show up at the royal court announcing the first princess rather than just let her parents do it."

"It's more than that," Cassie added in, "If he just showed up at the palace my parents might try and push him to the background, another family secret. But if he shows up in court, if I return in front of everyone Jared would be the one who brought back the first princess and they wouldn't be able to just ignore him after that. He's already making ties and becoming known, this way he won't be forgotten or pushed aside."

They slept in the next morning just laying in bed rolling over and dozing back off not getting up until well after breakfast time. He was grateful for the overnight cleaning service from the hotel which allowed him to wear the same outfit leaving the hotel looking the part of a young Lord.

They arrived at the dress shop earlier than expected but got Rachel to let them into the back of her shop where she had several different fake models set up with different styles of dresses some barely hanging on the frame. Inspecting the court dress brought an approval from Cassie and Jared realizing how much time must have been spent in the short span that had passed. He stripped down and changed behind a partition and stepped back out finding it a little loose but comfortable. Rather than wait or explain he changed drawing on Cassie's body and puling on the hidden string ties that pulled up the leg cuffs up and another that pulled the arms and back up that allowed her small breasts some freedom.

They nodded to the mirror set up in the corner, "Not bad. What do you think?" Jared asked walking closer to the corner turning from side to side. "It will suit our purpose and the colors are, interesting." Cassie replied. The robes had been split between patters cubes mixing his blue and green with the royal red and green. It would draw a great deal of attention and likely even cause problems with the court but the Braytant they had should last long enough to get them inside.

"Rachel would you please check the cuffs and whatever measurements you wanted." Cassie stated. Lorran cleared his throat twice and even gave the fennec a small nudge before she started forward checking the robs and giving little tugs here and there.

"I..." It was about all she was able to get out before falling silent again. When she finally stepped back they changed again and Jared gave a few tugs loosening the garment. Finally the fox found her voice. "I hope you approve young Lord. It seems to fit rather well."

"She agrees, you did very well. I would like you to put together a weeks worth of outfits that I can wear and I will have them picked up in a few days. For now, make any changes you need and have the outfit sent to my hotel room. It needs to be there very early tomorrow morning." Jared told her.

"Of course young Lord." Was her quick reply.

He left feeling really good and the stop at the metal smith went just as good with the owner assuring that the house crest could be delivered late that night once it was finished. The afternoon went by with smiles and light head nods to the young lord as he stopped to recheck things. Dinner was a polite little restaurant where the staff nearly tripped over themselves to serve him. Cassie had ordered an chosen several of the highest priced items including a full bottle of wine which they barely drank a glass of. At her insistence he left nearly double the amount of the dinner on the script and quietly left feeling very full and not even bothering taking any leftovers. She gave him several strong words and grumbled at the idea of him taking food to go but then took a moment to truly compliment him on all his work so far as they drove back to the hotel. That night he ended up staying awake and was barely able to sleep when he went to bed, even with Cassie's reassurances weren't enough to make him feel like this might be his last real night.

In the morning he dressing in the robes and waited for Donald to show up. The trip through the hotel lobby was like a black sheep among a white herd as every single person stared at the ferret and the three royal guards who walked a pace behind. The owner personally came to help check him out and Jared had to ask if his things could be left behind to be picked up later along with the items in the vault telling him that he would have them sent for in a day or so. With assurances that he would return if he ever needed a place to stay Jared left Rushlin Terrace with nearly a dozen employees standing at the doors giving light bows as he passed.

Being driven to the stairs gave him a growing sense of unease the closer he got to his destination and the fact the drive seemed even longer didn't help. Jared and Cassie both thanked Donald before handing over a script for six grand and told him to keep the car or sell it as he wished. With that he began the long climb up the stairs stopping twice for a short time to catch his breath.

Although he had planned on leaving early the time at the hotel and his trip here took a lot longer than he expected and by the time he had made it to the line for the petitioners he was at the back of a line of more than two dozen others. He drew stares from others, many who were not as nicely dress as he was but the attendants who helped those in line just raised an eyebrow and shook their heads.

After nearly three hours Lorran sent the other two guards off and stood a little ways off leaving Cassie to admit this might not have have been the best idea when barely a dozen had gained entrance but the line didn't seem to move more than a third of the way forward.

"There will be no more audiences after lunch." One of the attendants announced, "You may leave a written petition or return in two weeks. The first few in line may stay but the rest of you will have to leave."

'Like Hell.' Jared thought with Cassie in total agreement. 'Ness gave me an image of everyone but Drake.' She informed him.

Most had turned and filed off grumbling but a few openly sneered or growled at Jared as he held his place slowly walking forward as the line disappeared. "You will have to leave." Jared ignored the attendant taking another step forward. "Sir you Will Leave!"

When his arm was grabbed just below his shoulder Jared reacted. "Not sir, LORD Jared! Take your hand off me. Lorran, I will be seen today even if that means tearing my way through these idiots." The hare had already moved to stand at his side while all three of the attendants were shouting for guards and demanding that he be removed.

A single glare at the approaching guards slowed them down as Lorran gave an order. "Return to your posts." The simple command turned them around when they realized it was given by one of the royal guard captains.

"Now I'll be nice." Jared started pulling of his crest and flipping it so the royal insignia showed. Both had been fully impressed by the coin which they had expected to be nothing more than a thick gold plating. What he got was a near solid piece with the small gems that normally went with a royal crest and it had been gently painted so that the figure stood out as a dark form on his side of the coin which seemed far more intricate than he ever expected. "You will not make a scene and when the last person is done you will announce one more person and I will go in... Or I'll just head in now." He finished realizing there was on one else waiting.

He stepped past the others moving the curtain aside and revealing a short hallway which lead to a small room. Two guards flanked another curtain and both stepped to block the way before Lorran stepped forward and waved them back. The young ferret parted the curtain, looking into a large hall.

Each side was set with rows of raised chairs and the far wall had exits on each corner and was broken into two halves with a large table in front of the area with a raised podium behind it. He recognized several of the royal family sitting in the back on the left side with what must be other notable members of the court on the right side. The rest of the area wasn't even half full but still held dozens of bodies. 'Good enough.' He thought to Cassie paying attention now to what was going on.

"So then, you're willing to set this matter aside to be addressed in a closed session tomorrow afternoon." An old hyena was standing behind the podium talking. While the well dressed rabbit standing in the center of the main hall went on about such an honor Jared crept out. "Well that ends todays issues. Tomorrow..."

"Not Quite!" He half shouted interrupting the other. "I stand before the court to bring you startling and happy news." Jared kept his voice loud and strong bypassing the mutters and calls of confusion. "I assume I may address the court?" Jared kept his vision centered on the royal family since speaking. Nessandra's smile, Lord Marverath's firm stare, Lady Lindara's quick glances that took in the entire hall, even the two younger ones Nicholas and Teressa who were seated near the side walkway suddenly looking really interested.

Cassie raised Jared's arms drawing just a slight amount of energy they knew how to use and snapped his fingers in succession making two loud pops slowly earning silence from the hall. The hyena hadn't taken his eyes off the ferret since he stepped forward. "It is quite a serious offense to disrupt a court in session even one open to the public. However wearing the royal families colors _will_get you jail time at best." His paw moved to adjust his glasses wondering how far he should allow this to go.

Giving his voice the fullest depth he could reach, Jared spoke out, "I have come to bring the first princess Lady Cassandra home. Once again I ask permission to address the court."

Lord Jacqual, the courts overseer felt his heart falter in his chest. He had seen thousands of young brash men but this... He quickly glance at the available entrances before setting his gaze back on the ferret. "Such a claim is not a joke, nor is it funny. IF what you say is true then have the princess step forward!"

Jared knew how serious this could be for how well Cassie would be received but even so he gave a loud snort. "Princess Cassandra does NOT come when I order her, nor for anyone else. That being said I must explain two things first. A person who's body is destroyed yet their soul is taken and placed in another body is still the same person." He was very surprised when Lady Lindara stood.

"Such magic is Forbidden! Did you come here to tell us you used such magic on my daughter?"

'Relax, tell the truth.' Cassie advised.

"There is no way a six year old child could perform such magic." He replied. Since she was still standing staring at him he continued. "Second until recently it was believed two souls could not coexist with in one body yet we have done so for nearly twelve years." Jared closed his eyes and let out a breath his job was now over. Cassie took care changing her lower form first bending down to draw on the strings at her ankles, then hips, then shoulders as she finally allowed her head to change.

"It is good to see you again Mother, Father." She stated.

"Many times I have dreamed and wished that some how my first daughter would be returned." Lord Marverath finally spoke. "So long that I had given up all hope. When I first heard Jared's claim I was fully ready to deny such a ludicrous thing. But as the story unfolded and events revealed there was less doubt and more amazement over what should have been an impossibility. I have spoken with the mages council at length and they Can Not deny the fact that it appears my daughter's soul survived for twelve years hidden within the body of another. There is also no doubt that the soul who calls herself Cassie has detailed knowledge and memories of the royal family leaving no question as to who she is. Welcome home my daughter." The initial silence was ended by Nessandra's light squeal as she launched herself the last few feet and the twins embraced.

Seconds later she was pulling her Cassandra along only to be stopped by her mother's words. "Where do you think you're headed Nessandra?"

Giving the High Lady a big grin she answered. "I believe court was to be dismissed, surely it's time for lunch now." She didn't even wait for her mother to nod before darting down the back hallway leading her sister quickly through several turns and outside to a back patio area that was directly below one of the castle walls.

Cassie was laughing with the exhilarating rush that ended with severals pins provided by her sister. Her laugh was cut short when Nessandra pushed their lips together in a very unexpected kiss which ended up lasting until she finally shook her head free. There was still a light growl of irritation as Nessandra's paw kept her muzzle shut. "No one, even mother, is going to tell me or force me to marry someone I don't choose so don't think that you have a chance. And that is all I'm asking for Cass, one chance. I'll do anything whether it's for you or him it won't matter to me."

'Don't say anything!' Cassie shot at Jared. 'Fine what are you going to say?' When the paw finally pulled back she wiggled her muzzle and jaw. "We can't say yes yet. Ness this has to be something we both want. Jared maybe right, maybe we will never have someone to be with." Seeing her sister scowl and feeing her seriously upset she relented some giving her twin a hug. "I can give you a chance if you give me time."

"I want you both to be happy." Cassie closed her eyes as her twin hugged her back feeling the warm wave of support and love coming through. When she opened them again she could see Lady, or was it Lord Alexander walking through the doorway.

"The pants look good Alex." Jared spoke as the twins turned to face their sibling.

"Well don't expect them I..." He suddenly stopped scowling.

"They do look good." Cassie added.

"NO! He should be addressing me with a title, and my Name!" The younger fox spoke loudly.

Cassie stepped up grabbing her brother's chin and even with the struggle moved their muzzled together until they were just an inch apart staring into his eyes. "You think it's hard trying to be male and female and I will say your rear looks cute, even if you tail looks a little flat." She waited while he self-consciously flicked it several times in an attempt to fluff it up. "But Jared has it harder. He sacrificed everything school, friends, his apartment, his entire life. Then he gave up his body as well, he has no clue what it's like being a female but his is having to learn. He's now stuck in a new place with new people and even when he is in charge people are probably going to be asking about me. So do me a little favor and try to be nice to him. Give him a little time to adjust and we can both work on how he will address others." She bent forward just enough to bump his nose before pulling away.

"You... you're really like her." He spoke quietly.

"Of course she is, we're twins." Nessandra spoke hugging her sister beaming a smile at her brother. "Alexander doesn't really listen much to Mother or Father but sometimes we can talk and I can get him to listen."

It was a thoughtful look Cassie had as she bent forward slightly. Jared's head manifested as he looked straight at Alex. "I was serious before but I will say this again. If you ever need to talk with another male I will listen. Cassie knows what it's like being a female trapped in a male body and now I'm learning what it's like to be female. I might not be able to help much but I will listen." As Cassandra's head came back she stepped forward and hugged her brother and Nessandra followed suit.

"Come on, we shouldn't hold up lunch." Ness added as they broke apart.
