The Family He Never Had Part 18
The mysterious man in black tries to take Kenji back to Japan but Kenji refuses to leave, even as Tarzan and the others try to convince the man in black that Kenji is happy where he is, the man dressed in black also reveals some frightening news about Kenji's biological father.
Kenji and Terk couldn't believe what they heard Kranston say which was something that could've made anyone feel an unpleasant jolt to the heart.
"You want me to go with you back to Japan?" said Kenji as he was a bit surprised.
"Your care takers sent me to look for you but I honestly didn't think I'd find you here, I was only here to see if anyone saw you here before but I spotted you at the Trading Post before I could ask anyone anything." explained Kranston. "I got a boat that's wait for us."
As Terk and Kenji stood there, Kenji turned to Terk and the young female gorilla shook her head to him.
"I don't trust the guy, don't listen to him." said Terk whispering in Kenji's ear.
Kenji nodded once and turned his attention to Kranston, he shook his head at Kranston and this was something that no started to surprise the man dressed in black.
"I can't do that, sir." said Kenji.
"If your needing time to pack, I can wait for that." said Kranston as if he knew why when he didn't.
"No sir, I'm not going back to Japan, I'm staying here." said Kenji with a serious look.
The look on Kranston's face started to look more firm than surprised by the minute. Kranston was already thinking that no one would like to live out here unless they were one of the wild animals but this was a first for him.
"What makes you think you can stay here? Don't make this harder than it needs to be." said Kranston as he was starting to look strict.
"Unless you have an army, I'm not leaving." said Kenji as he crossed his arms.
Kranston was starting to feel annoyed and started to crack his knuckles, knowing that he only had one way of doing this which he was hoping he didn't have to do it, he started to walk over to Kenji.
"Your coming with me to Japan weather you want to or not, even if I have to take you kicking and screaming." said Kranston sharply.
Terk was about to try and block Kranston but he moved her out of the way, took hold of Kenji's arm and tried to take him by the arm but Kenji was trying to pull away from him and out of his grip.
"Let go of me." said Kenji becoming angry.
"Stop struggling and obey the commanding adult." said Kranston becoming more defiant.
"Not today." said Kenji as a fit of rage kicked into him.
Kenji used up as much of his strength as he could and swung his foot at Kranston's butt, kicking him really hard, causing Kranston to fall over, lose his grip on Kenji and land on the ground. Kenji than ran over to Terk and helped her up.
"Terk, we should get Tarzan, now." said Kenji quickly.
"Way ahead of you." said Terk. "TARZAN."
Terk called out to Tarzan loudly and she began to lead the way back with Kenji by her side, the two of them were running away from Kranston but it didn't take long for them to look back and see the man dressed in black chasing them.
"TARZAN." called out Terk and Kenji in unison.
"Hey kid get back here." shouted Kranston.
They suddenly made it to where Kala, Tantor, Flynt, Mungo, Jane and Professor Archimedes was and heard Tarzan's battle cry like yell, signaling he was coming. Kranston was now being seen by both Kala, Tantor, Flynt, Mungo, Jane and Professor Archimedes.
"What's going on?" said Kala looking surprised.
"Your not getting away from me, you stubborn ass brat." yelled Kranston.
"Pretty much that." Terk pointing in the direction of Kranston.
Tarzan showed up from a vine he swung in on and landed on the ground just as Kranston caught up with Kenji but Kranston had to stop to catch his breath for a minute. Now Tarzan, Terk, Kenji, Kala, Tantor, Flynt, Mungo, Jane and Professor Archimedes saw Kranston catching his breath and looking annoyed.
"What's going on here?" asked Tarzan turning his direction towards Kranston.
"This bozo is trying to take Kenji away from here." said Terk pointing the finger at Kranston.
"Kenji, your care takers have me looking for you and your coming with me to Japan, we can either do this the easy way or the hard way." said Kranston looking stern.
"Give me a reason." said Kenji looking annoyed.
Kranston started to think for a minute and he knew what to say to that answer.
"Your a child prodigy genius, we can give you a future, you can be anything you want, the world's your oyster." said Kranston listing off a few reasons.
"At what cost? All I wanted to do while I was a kid was be the kid and have the people let me be a kid. All they wanted to do was nurture my gifted brain and that's it, where's the fun in that?" said Kenji grimly.
"What are you talking about?" said Kranston as his stern look turned to confusion.
"Sir, if I may." said Professor Archimedes as he walked a bit closer to him.
Professor Archimedes got his attention and took i a breath and let it out before he was to speak, he faced the man dressed in black.
"Sir, when it comes to children or raising them, they need a parental figure who is kind, patient, compassionate and someone whose loving who can give them balance in their lives. From what Kenji told us, it sounds like he was deprived of an actual childhood. Sometimes as adults, we need to let kids be kids." explained Professor Archimedes.
"That may be but his care takers are the ones in charge of his safety and his well-being and I have my orders to bring him back. Besides, many kids at Kenji's age are as gifted as he is they seem okay with it." said Kranston.
"That's probably because they had friends and family, something that Kenji didn't have at the time, children need friends and family in their life in order to feel like the world around them isn't such a bad place." said Jane as she was pointing out the difference between Kenji and the other kids.
Kranston looked at Jane and knew that she was probably speaking the truth but the man dressed in black knew that talking about this was not only admirable but knew that this wasn't really going to stop him, it seemed he did grow curious a little.
"Sir, do you have children?" asked Tarzan curiously.
"No, I have a girl friend I'm currently seeing but no kids, it's a bit early to be thinking about that at the time being." said Kranston as he was starting to show signs of being less hostile.
"Well, even though you don't have kids of your own at the time, you have to realize that Kenji seems happier here, he may had a little trouble adjusting at first but he's grown to fit in here more than he did in human civilization." said Tarzan as he made his attempt to convince Kranston. "You must of had trouble fitting in once?"
Kranston started to become silent when he heard this, he remembered a time that he had trouble fitting in when he was younger as a kid growing up, even if it was a long time ago. He let out a sigh.
"There was a time when I went through that, I was moving into a new home with my family when I was becoming a teenager, I knew no one around the area where w lived or at the school I was going to, I didn't speak to anyone and I at first didn't like the whole experience but eventually things got better after a month or two." said Kranston as he took in a breath and let it out. "What I do know is it's hard to adjust to a knew home but even though it gets easier through time, we never forgotten those days."
"So why don't let Kenji stay here with us?" asked Professor Archimedes curiously.
"Two reasons, one, Kenji's care takers want him to come back and continue nurturing his gifted brain in what they believe is a safe environment and two, well, the second reason is probably going to be bad news for Kenji to hear which is the main reason why they want him to come back to Japan to be safe for." said Kranston as his face looked grim.
"What reason could this be?" asked Kenji curiously.
Kranston now knew this was going to be hard for him and all of them to hear but he knew there was no other way of saying it, he took in another deep breath and let it out before he spoke.
"It's Kenji's biological father, he broke out of prison a few days ago and it's not hard to figure out why and what he's up to." said Kranston as he dreaded what he just spoke.
Now Kenji felt like his heart stopped beating, he froze where he stood. He knew that his biological father was serving life in prison but he never expected him to break out, this was what he feared most. They all turned to Kenji as they wondered how he felt about this, worried that this might hurt him even more.
"Kenji?" said Tantor.
Kenji was silent as his heart felt the unpleasant jolt.
"Kenji?" said Terk.
Kenji was still silent but he fell backwards, landing on the ground, he was unconscious from shock.
