Hello again, and welcome to chapter two in the story of Brit's adventures in Blu's world, I hope you enjoy and please don't forget to show Blu some love over on his account, he did do the finishing touches to the story after all, you can find him here: https://blumacintosh.sofurry.com/

It had taken a few minutes for emotions to cool down between the scalie duo, but eventually Blu released his hugging grip on Brit and reached into the sand beside them, grabbing the peculiar book from before. Blu opened the book, and retrieved an old quill from his backpack, dabbing it in an ink bottle that rested on his arm. Brit sat upwards to watch Blu write some sort of message in said book, swiftly after Blu threw his quill back into his backpack and gave the book to Brit. As Brit began to read, he raised an eyebrow in response to what it depicted. "Please don't read my diary without asking me first, there's over 400 years of experiences in here. I'm Blu, as you already know, what's your name? Why did you think I would laugh at you? Also, it's ok that you shot me, even if it was on purpose, because I suppose I did come on a bit strong back there. Also, you can talk to me, but I can't talk back properly for some reason I still don't know of."

"Huh, interesting. The name's Brit, just, Brit" He uttered as he handed the diary back to Blu. "To tell you the truth about why I attacked you, I have been mocked and bullied around these lands for so long that I've become a kind of laughing stock, don't ask why. But anyway, from people pelting me with bean bag shots to silent stares I've been victim to all kinds of discrimination, hence why I took your silence as an attempt to offend me. Also how in hell are you able to regenerate wounds that quickly and flawlessly?!" Brit spoke with a tone of mild anguish lingering in his voice while looking down at the floor. Blu gave a face of understanding and pity and began writing his response in his diary, then handing it over to Brit.

"Well Brit, I assure you that I mean you no harm or bad feelings, as a matter of fact I'd love to have you on as company on my journey to find a mine of sorts. Of course I'd expect you not to try and kill me anymore, but that should be apparent, and as for my regeneration, I don't know myself, maybe the mine I'm looking for will shine light on it" Blur wrote in response. Brit handed back the diary again and gestured a finger eastwards towards some mountainous terrain in the distance.

"The nearest possible mine would be the dried up silver mine due east, if we make haste we'll most likely make it to the entrance within one cycle of the sun. I guess with nothing else to say, we shall be on our way" Brit announced as he started walking boldly in the general direction of the silver mine, now with Blu tagging along in close proximity to the determined iguana as they powered through the blazing heat and the coarse sands.

The two scalies crossed the desert with little hassle during the daytime, but soon enough it came to sunset and the sands began to shift more viciously and Brit knew they had to set up camp or have their scales torn asunder by the 'razor winds'. Brit pulled Blu aside to halt while he set up a sand-shelter for the night which consisted of a dome-shaped tent, lined on the outside with Durasteel, a flexible brand sheet metal that was and is used as a sand shield for tenting. Once the tent was fully secured Brit invited Blu inside and followed in behind him, the interior was relatively homely with drawings of bright skies and a luscious landscape creating a peaceful background in which to gaze upon whilst sat inside the tent. Conversation was few and far between, with Brit doing most of the talking, well, all of the talking and most of the general conversing due to Blu's unending interest in the walls that surrounded him, between the occasional "How are you?" and "Are you hungry" points of conversation, one topic kept the two of them going for a while, how Blu came to be in the desert in the first place. By the height of the night Brit had discovered that Blu had been leading a very adventurous life, from being a born and raised then working as a 'Rose Farmer' in some kind of Mushroom Kingdom, travelling grand distances to places like the moon, and even through the fabric of time and space itself, how preposterous! That couldn't possibly be true, could it?

When the time came to go to sleep, there was only one bedroll that Brit had available to use and he couldn't seem to bring himself to not share it with his new found companion. So Brit laid out the bedroll on the floor beneath him and Blu and gestured him to slip in before he did, and Blu looked at the bedroll and shifted backwards, shaking his head. "What? Do you imagine I'm gonna kill you again?" asked Brit, still gesturing for Blu to get into the bedroll.

In Blu's experiences, he had only ever shared a bed with one other person, but they were gone, years ago had Blu last seen them. Brit shrugged and began to get settled into the bedroll.

"Well, if you're sure, Blu. It really is very comfortable." Yawned Brit. He turned his head toward the side of the tent and drifted off soon after. Blu blushed and looked at the sleeping Brit. He took out his diary and wrote down a short message for himself in the morning. Blu looked down, closed his eyes and sighed. He rubbed the back of his head and turned down the nightlight near him.

Blu took Brit up on his offer and slid inside the bedroll, luckily it was flexible and spacious enough to fit the two of them because the chill of the sandy winds weren't well kept out by the tent's materials. The night was long and the storms were pounding against the walls of the tent, but Brit felt more at ease now he had someone beside him, someone to hold, and best of all someone to talk to on his travels throughout the landscape, even if they were pretty one sided in terms of actual speech but hey, never look a gift horse in the mouth they say. Soon enough Blu followed in Brit's footsteps and drifted off to sleep, ready to wake up for their journey to the long abandoned silver mines of the east.
