This was a story written way back in 2003. I know there are grammar errors and such. But I would hope I fixed myself since then.

Introduction to a Story

The cabin was small compared to most cabins. Black billowy smoke rose from its stone chimney before disappearing into the clouds. Small lilac bushes with plumes of violets and purples surround the small cabin like a scented barrier. Brightly colored curtains could be seen through the somewhat grimy windows. As the inhabitant hated to do them was quite short. The inside of the cabin is not important and only the fact that it had all the necessary rooms should interest you. But the cabin itself should be of importance because this is where the tale begins.

As every reader knows, a story has to have three major keys to make it... well, a story. There is someone to cheer at the conquering hero that saves the day. And the evil villain that everyone boos and hisses at with a mixture of excitement and disgust. And conflict, because if there were no conflict, life would be boring.

The lucky thing is, that this story has not one... but four heroes. I guess that adds to the success of their adventure. You would think that, wouldn't you?

Throughout the history of stories, heroes have had extra large bodies, rippling muscles, an incredible amount of strength, and a keen fighting sense.

Hmmm... three out of four isn't bad, I suppose.

Minerva was not any ordinary hero. In fact, she would be considered the anti-hero. Well, not in the bad way. You see, the red headed, gold wolfess with green eyes was... short. Not just short, but tiny short. Her 5'3" stature made her look like a child among her pack, if not for the fact she had just turned 21 summers. She carried herself well, having been brought up in a wealthy family, her actions and movements were sleek and precise... when she was asleep. However, when she was awake, she was a klutz. But not just any klutz mind you, she never harmed herself... as she was a danger to others. Let's just say it is a good thing she was a healer and an alchemist, because of all the accidents she has caused to her pack. But we will not sell her short... excuse the pun, for she has an intricate part of the story just as the rest of the group.

Samual was Minerva's mate as well as self-spoken protector of the wolfess. His larger frame, which towers over his petite mate, instantly made him aware that she could get crushed by the rest of the pack if they should happen to stampede again. Samual was a black-furred, blue eyed hulk of a shadow wolf, whose main purpose in life was to protect the ones he loved. He was very good at that, having never lost a loved one to any natural or unnatural disaster since he has been deemed self protector. He took pride in that fact, and to that effect rarely left his mate's side. And just as tall and big as he was, he was just as smart. Which is why he must love Minerva, for as clumsy as she was... she was just as smart. Many times they would stay up late at night, sit by the fire and discuss smart things, things that would make even the smartest cringe with wonder.

Now Alexis was a big bitch, and believe me she is proud of that fact. A shadow wolf along with Samual, she is more profound in the dark arts than her brother. With deep green eyes that sparkle with intelligence and an appeal that attracts both males and females alike. Alexis takes great fact that she is the alpha in the pack, a role that she seemed to have been born into. If ever there was a typical female hero to a story, Alexis is it. Large frame, ample breasts, muscles that could tear down a tree without breaking a sweat. If I had to compare her to any here in history... real or imagined, Alexis would be Red Sonja.

And to Alexis's Red Sonja, Marcus was Conan. A large white Viking wolf was built like a Mack truck. Gentle eyes of blue looked back from a handsome face which made every fem faint with lust. This would have been a good thing if he wasn't mated to Alexis. And still, that didn't stop the flirting with the other family members, even so much as to proposition Minerva in exchange for muffins. He considered himself the sweet talking, charming Casanova of this particular pack. And by all rights he was. He could charm the skirts off a nun, he was that smooth.

And now that the heroes of the story have been introduced, we can start the story. Now back to that cabin in the woods...

** The Story**

A bellow echoed in the forest, followed shortly by a string of curses. Marcus hopped on one foot, his ears red and his eyes watering in pain. Finally, he dropped to the ground on his butt, a cloud of dirt billowing around him. Samual was about to fall off a log nearby, his paws clutched to his chest and laughing like a madman. Alexis merely giggled at the sight, but knowing her, she was laughing hard on the inside. Amongst them all stood Minerva, blinking in surprise at the fallen Marcus. You see, Marcus was teaching Minerva how to fight and he decided she would do great with a 35lb war hammer. But let's back up to the innocent conversation that happened just moments before...

"Are you sure you want to teach her, Marcus? You know how she is..." This whispered by Samual as he watched his mate talking to Alexis. He folded his arms over his chest and thought it over, knowing what the outcome could be.

Of course, Marcus being Marcus, he thought this was an attack on his manhood and he puffed his chest out. "I can teach her... how hard can it be?"

Those words will follow Marcus for a lifetime, especially when it comes to Minerva. You see, Minerva's clumsiness was never truly aimed at other members of the pack... except Marcus. She has singed his fur, busted his fingers and nearly chopped his tail off. She never does it on purpose. Yet it seems he is always in the middle of one of Minerva's disasters.

Samual shrugged his shoulder and shook his head when his brother said that. With a smirk crossing his muzzle, he padded over to a log and the edge of the clearing. He watched Marcus make his way to Alexis and Minerva and after his brother exchanged words with Alexis, she padded over to join Samual on the log.

Marcus had this stubbornness that if he was told he could not do it, he would do it anyway, just to prove everyone wrong. The larger wolf towered over Minerva almost comically, the fem coming up to just the middle of his tummy.

"You are holding it too tight, Minerva. Loosen your grip just a bit or you will tear a muscle."

He turned her around so she was facing away from him and he brought her arms over her head, her paws gripping the hammer tightly while he brought the hammer back against her back, the head touching between her shoulders.

"Marcus... I can't loosen my grip..." Minerva said as a matter of fact while she tilted her head back to look up at her brother.

"DAMMIT WOMAN! Do As I say... Loosen your grip on the damn hammer!"

It all happened in slow motion, the minute the words left his muzzle; Marcus knew he was not going to enjoy it. True to her brother's orders, she loosened her grip, the hammer slipping from her paws and landing with a crunch on three of his toes. The pain was unbearable, white flashes of light blurring his vision while he hopped around on his good foot. He glared at Samual, who was now on the ground and rolling in laughter. He fell back on his ass, looking nearly eye to eye with his "attacker".

He TOLD her to loosen her grip. She tried to tell him that it was too heavy to keep a hold on. She slowly backed away from the red faced Viking, watching him sputter and curse violently while he glared back at her. Her paw covered her muzzle and she blinked... "Oh Marcus! I am sorry! Does it hurt, is your foot broken?" She turned and ran to her bag and pulled out some vials of pain medication. She scrambled back to him and handed him the vial. "Drink this..." She murmured as she checked Marcus's foot, already swelling while she sighed softly.

Marcus yowled in pain, gulping the watermelon flavored concoction in one swoop. "HELL WOMAN! That hurts..." He cried as she popped a toe back in place with a loud pop. He wailed in pain then suddenly stopped as he looked down at Minerva and blinked. "That didn't hurt..." He mumbled while wigged his toes at her.

She smiled and tickled his foot before standing up and chuckling. "I am good at what I do." She murred softly for a bit before looking back at the hammer. "Should I go again?"

He looked over at the hammer and sighed before nodding. "Hell yea... let's try that again. Cant learn if you don't try." He muttered before getting back up and padding over to the hammer, ready to teach her some more.

Five hours, eighteen more drops of the hammer on various parts of Marcus's body, and twenty potions later, Samual had to go home before he exploded in laughter. Alexis stayed behind to watch, never really making a sound while her mate sparred with her newly trained sister. She watched in amusement, knowing that Marcus would never stop from training little Minerva because of his ego.

In fact, she was impressed on how fast her sister had improved in such a short time. It was if she had handled a war hammer all her life. Alexis thought for a second before mentally shaking that idea out of her head. Minerva would never lie about being able to use a war hammer... would she?

Panting, Marcus swung the large Boken at his sister, aiming for her shoulder and grumbling all the while because it was too light and he wanted his sword. But when Samual left, he promised his brother NOT to use his sword for fear of her getting hurt. Not that it should be a problem, he has yet to get a hit in and Minerva has popped him several times in the stomach. Finally he stopped and narrowed his eyes at the petite wolfess.

"Why do I get the feeling I have been made a fool of?" He asked as he tossed the wooden Boken aside.

Minerva blinked and put the war hammer down before looking up at Marcus. "What do you mean?" She asked this while batting her green eyes innocently.

Marcus crossed his arms and puffed his chest out as he glared down at her. "Minnie... I get the feeling you have done this before."

The wolfess blinked in surprise as she folded her paws behind her back and rocked on her heels. She looks slightly embarrassed and opened her mouth to speak. In that instant Samual came racing into the clearing and skidding to a halt near them. Alexis jumped up and padded over, knowing that it is serious for her brother to be that fast.

"Guys... I just got word that a blue dragon is terrorizing Kishu! We need to get over there and help!"

Kishu is a small farming village whose main attraction is a beautiful crystal well in the center of the town. It was rumored of being blessed by a traveling priest. They say the waters cure your shedding. Did I mention that this particular priest was a long haired tabby feline named Oscar?

When everyone made it to the village, there where furs crying... wailing... and just plain going nuts. Women were screaming, children staring and men going crazy. And all because of a rather large blue dragon, sitting on what remained of the village's precious well.

Dragons are a peculiar species, but one that fascinates me in a curious kind of way. They come in all sizes, shapes and colors, and to defeat them... you had to know the right combination of attack. This dragon was large... about the height of a four story building and as blue as the rarest sapphire.

"I haven't seen a blue dragon in ages!" Marcus exclaimed in excitement, nearly drooling at the sight. He rubbed his paws together before grabbing his sword. "I have a background in dragon killing. Alexis... you distract the dragon with shadow magic. Minerva... you stay on hand with potions, and Samual... blast it with some red mage magic."

"Marcus... you are an idiot! You can't kill a blue dragon with red magic! You have to use green magic!" Samual sighed and inwardly doubted the blood relationship of his brother to himself.

"Red magic, Samual..."

"Green magic, Marcus..."

"RED!"

"GREEEN!"

The relationship between Samual and Marcus is that of respect... and constant bickering over how to do things. It is common between siblings to fight, yes... but even more common between two alphas.

Marcus and Samual bickered as Alexis looked to Calli. She stared at her sister for a second before sighing and giving her a smirk. "Is the dragon dangerous?"

Minerva smiled up at her sister and grinned before giggling. "I was wondering if anyone was gonna ask the empath." The wolfess proceeded to pad up to the dragon and look up at it.

Did I mention that Minerva is also empathic? Since birth, she has been able to feel other's feelings as if they were her own. She can tell if they are happy, sad, frightened or deceitful.

"Excuse me! Mr. Dragon? Why are you sitting in the middle of the town?"

The blue dragon looked down at the tinier than usual wolfess and rumbled loudly before laying down on the ground, in the process taking out three more houses. He looked eye to eye with her and smiled, his kind yellow eyes flashing.

"Mistress Wolf! It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Elliot." He looked around and hummed before speaking again, his tail taking out another house. "What is this about being in the middle of a town?"

Minerva looked up at Elliot, cringing at the sight of the houses being smashed before she looked up at Alexis. "He is a dragon... I wonder why he didn't notice."

Meanwhile, Elliot was looking behind the two fems and watching in mild interest at the males. He chuckled to himself as he watched the tall white one tackle the black one to the ground and proceed to bite his arm. The dragon blinked curiously while the black one kicked the white one between the legs, he himself cringing at the feeling. His attention was averted when the small gold wolfess started talking.

"Hello Elliot... I am Minerva and this is my sister, Alexis. I was wondering why you landed in this town. You have already destroyed its fountain and several houses. Maybe you should move?"

The dragon blinked, looking from fem to fem before speaking. "You do not look like sisters..."

Delving into a dragon's mind is like floating in space. Every once and awhile, you will see an intelligent thought. But mostly there is just darkness... with the occasional black hole.

Alexis coughed and shook her head before speaking, clearly trying to get the dragon's attention when her paw touched his nose. "You are in the middle of this town, Sir Elliot. I think it would be best to go out of town. I think it would be wise at that. Maybe you should relocate near the lake?"

Elliot blushed as the wolfess' paw touched his nose and it came to pass that Alexis found that intelligent thought. He looked around, quite confused before sitting up and blinking. "I did? Dear me... I didn't realize." He rumbled as he bowed his head to look at the fems again. "I had been flying for hours and had grown quite tired and lost. I just merely landed. Is that why everyone ran away?"

"Maybe we can give you directions to wherever you are going?" Minerva smiles at the gentle dragon.

"I am heading to Astro City, Miss Minerva. I would appreciate it if I can give you something in turn... please... ask me anything." Elliot smiled softly.

Minerva smiled as she looked up at Alexis before asking her question to the dragon. After giving the dragon the directions to Astro City and telling the mayor of Kishu that he should make a dragon landing strip outside of town, Minerva and Alexis dragged their mates back home...

Later that evening, our four heroes were sitting down at the dinner table, a mountain of meat and vegetables weighing the poor wooden table down while Marcus and Samual glared at each other.

Scratches and bruises were visible on each one of them as they hungrily devoured their meals. Alexis and Minerva happily chatted about their adventure, the gold wolfess idly wondering if Elliot made it to Astro City.

"I still say its Red magic..." Marcus muttered.

"You have to be insane... it's green!" Samual retorted.

Minerva winked over at Alexis before chiming in... "You are both wrong... It so happens that you have to kill a blue dragon with yellow magic."

Marcus and Samual stop and stare at Minerva for a minute before looking at each other. Within seconds, they are out of their seats and racing each other down to the library. A long string of curses that could only come from Marcus came echoing up to the table and Alexis muttered something about spanking that wolf. They reappeared at the table next to Minerva and blinked at her in surprise.

"How could you know that?!" Marcus demanded...

Minerva leaned back, looking as smug and tickled as ever before answering as a matter of fact. "A blue dragon told me."
