Thank the lazy Seth Uchiha [https://seth-uchiha.sofurry.com] for inspiring me to write this bit! LOL!

"A long time ago, during the age of Noxum, before the dragons spoke wisdom to man and the first kings fought for dominion over in faraway lands. On the Island of Sannokai, in the hills of now what is known as the Kesekai province, several villages in the region once earned the fair yet unforgiving wrath of Ookami, the Goddess of Beasts by slaying her eight blessed emissaries. The leaders of these villages were told by a traveler from the Great West beyond the countless seas and oceans between, bearing the emblem of a Dark Sun with an eye in the center, that these blessed beasts would be their downfall.

What this mysterious traveler didn't speak of was how they would be, as each Atama, village head, sent their best hunters to slay these supposedly vile beasts. Together, in a coordinated effort amongst friend and foe alike, tracked down these holy animals simultaneously then slaughtered them in cold blood. By the time the Atamas knew, the robed man disappeared before it was too late.

Ookami descended down from the heavens, after hearing the mournful cries of her emissaries' spirits, traveled to each village in the guise of an elderly woman to learn of their fates. After hearing the tales of the butchery and witness the pelts of the Blessed Beasts brandished upon the walls of their homes. She unleashed her ire upon them, stripping away the blessings she had provided them and cursing them to wear the pelts of her emissaries they had slain, turning them into the beastly monstrosities of men and women that they are today.

Upon hearing their savagery from the Wolf's spirit, The Goddess of beasts forced the clans of the Urufunoma village to don the hide of the wolf upon their back, and howl at the moon when it's full while driven by instincts to savagely hunt, kill and breed. She threw stones from the heavens at their lands like cruel child to a dog, destroying their farms and fields, ensuring their fate to roam the night for survival, ultimately turning them to the Path of the assassin in the days after. On every full moon and as it draws near, the women of Urufunoma's clans shall become lustful beasts and the men shall bed with them in the moonlight

The Panther's spirit spoke of the honor of Tagashita and its hunter who fought valiantly in battle with a mere knife, slighting Ookami's ill will. The Goddess still was angered for they hadn't listen to her divine decree, before stitching the panther's pelt upon them and running a river through their village as penance for their transgression. The people of Tagashita knew that this was punishment and accepted it with pride, surprising her as they still continued worship and fight for her name.

On the other hand, the Fox's spirit was infuriated by Kitsushippo and how they tricked her into a trap then killed her, asking to set flame to their dreaded forest she died in. Ookami obliged this request, leveling their timbers which they so relied upon, turning it into a vast field of grass and wheat, exposing them to the world they hid from before their village was sacked. Once the Fox's pelt had appeared on them, they began to trick and deceive one another, causing mischief and chaos amongst the other villages.

The Monkey's spirit was fortunately forgiving of Sarunote village for their Hunter had bested him in a race to climb the tallest the tree and obtain the fruit from the highest branch then offered it to him before killing him in his sleep and weeping tears of regret. He foreworned of the Flood that Ookami would bring to their land, guiding them to mountains bearing fruitful trees, despite her wishes. The Sarunote's clans embraced the monkey's pelt, carving statues of stone to honor his memory and planting many tall trees in their new land.

People of Masuana barely had the heart to kill the Blessed Mouse who barely left his home, but did so by accident of a careless young girl who was fearful and meek. The mouse's spirit thought it would be justified to make their clans light on their feet as they donned her pelt. Ookami agreed to making them meek as she once was before being squished beneath.

Haienawarai's champion was fortunately witty, courting the sacred plainrunner and engaging in vivaciously rough union then bore his beastly child before his heart gave out at hearing her jokes. The Plainrunner's spirit still even laughed in his death, where Ookami cursed the clans of Haienawarai with his laugh as they donned his pelt. They became scavengers, bandits and raiders that clashed with the clans of Urufunoma and Kitsushippo.

The Sacred Bovine who dwelled in Ushinozimue had been taken care of by the farmers for many years but the women of the town had snuck past their men's watchful guard then murdered the poor heffer. Her spirit pleaded to Ookami to only punish the women of the village, but the Goddess thought to make the punishment fair for the crime. She casted the bovine's hide and horns upon them, 'blessing' their women with abundant fecundity, providing them bountiful forms and milk filled bosoms along with tender wombs. Ookami then 'blessed' the men with strength, stamina, and virility of a Bull, amongst 'blessing' other 'things', letting them continue their pitiful sedimentary existence as farmers and ranchers.

The Rabbit's spirit was outraged at Usagimimi and its champion, who chased her down in the fields before dragging her out of her home and raping her to death in front of her children. Ookami became enraged upon hearing this travesty, forcing the pelt upon the Usagimimi clans with impassioned wrath, turning them into prey for ages to come. The goddess decreed "Every spring they shall rut and breed mindlessly, bringing forth their offspring into the misery they suffer", and took Sacred Rabbit's offspring, placing them in Moon's care."....

This is a commonplace myth amongst the demihuman clans and families who reside in Kesaki province, though the acts described are unlike the kind-hearted Ookami we know today. Some scholars from the Great West attribute this to climate change or the chaotic handiwork of Hircine, or even Vetitium, The Abyssal Prince of Knowledge, for inciting these events through his followers. The villages after ages of fighting are now at peace thanks to heavenly mandated Sannokai Empire, and adhere to its laws while still retaining their customs.

The Urufunoma village is known for its warriors who specialize in the art of assassination and magic, loyally serving the Empire since its dawn after the Shogun period. They even teach their practices who are willing to undergo the brutal training that their children begin from the minute they are born, and some of their village members aspire to be the part of the Imperial Shadoshukai who loyally guard the Emperor and his family in secret like their ancestors before them. The town itself is also known for some of its very powerful female figures since historically its Atama has always been a woman, and any man who has a problem with it, they have to take it up to her!

The people of Tagashita also shares in the glorious history of the Empire since many are veterans of the Imperial Military and helped defend its proud lands from foreign threats, both from the mortal and outer planes. These feline demihumans are experienced fighters since they've had a long time rivalry with Urufunoma village, but fortunately under the Empire, this has simmered down though still try outperforming one another in the Martial arts.

The sly fox-like clans of Kitsushippo, believe it or not, are recruited into preforming espionage and scouting for the Sannokai Empire's sake, undermining its enemies and serving in secret. They've historically allied with the Urufunoma village, despite owing allegiance to the empire, they still hold their wolf-like protectors in high regards and send their children to learn their Arts. Some are still thieves to this day, but in far off lands where they come home with ill gotten gains, contributing to the Empire's overall wealth.

If you're a religious or scholarly sort, it would be wise to visit Sarunote's Monastaries and shrines high in the mountains that are home to both monks and the repentant who dedicate their lives to worship of their respective deities. The clans who dwell in the village often tend to these sacred lands and helped maintain the temples for generations. Don't mind the Monkey business that their youth will come up with, just watch your head for falling fruit, or worse.

Masuana is home to the provincial offices for the Empire, making sure that Kesaki's infrastructure is maintained and the annual taxes are received on time. The town is also home to one of the best academies in the region for learning both the physical and arcane sciences due to immense safety its instructors emphasize. Much of the townspeople and its clans are tied into many imperial affairs including commerce and bureaucracy within the region. Its generally good idea not to interfere in their daily affairs since any aggression tends to meet a swift response.

Haienawarai in the northwestern warrens are some of the less reputable clans in the province but still provide a valuable service as Privateers, Mercenaries, and Fortune Seekers by hunting down criminals and pirates in exchange for profit. They are often associated the Masuana clans as their problem solvers in case something goes out of place or they need bandits taken care of. Some rumor that they are involved with the necromantic arts, but it is likely a misinterpretation of their bizarre customs and association with the Marbled Gnolls that peacefully reside in Sannokai empire.

To those looking to settle down or farm, Ushinozimue is perfect if you like your men and women abundantly healthy that are eager to marry. The clans here still maintain the empire's breadbasket and feeding its citizens in the capital for days to come, tilling the soil every morning then settling down for the evening with the quiet nightlife in its taverns. Just don't ask for the village special in a tavern unless you are really daring, or if you want a barmaid to sit on your lap topless...

Now quite the spectacle to see is Usagimimi's Annual Moon festival, which is essentially fertility festival that happens every spring solstice that the clans go all out on. It is quite the sight to see, local shops set up stands for their wares, oodles saki and sweets can be found before the a Priestess re-enacts the Passing of the Loppe where she runs through the streets naked with several boys coming of age that will chase her through the town and into the fields then make love with her. Despite this somewhat perverse ritual, their children are often the first to join the rush in settling the empire's frontiers and in turn, having many children of their own.
