#56 of Wolves' Legacy Saga

Hi again!

I didn't stop the story in the second series, because I felt it didn't end the story. So, I decided to make the final story of Wolves' Legacy, and also for all the characters involved in it.

Unlike the previous stories, this story will be completely in a first person perspective, though it wouldn't always be Lilac or Ifrit. I must also remind you that this story is not as adventurous as before and emphasize on violence and gore akin to a demonic war.

Anyway, enjoy the prologue of this story, and please, critics and comments are welcome!

The Three Kings

"(Okay, Ifrit, remember. This is a rescue mission. Do not let them know of your real identity. Tell this to Anubis and Eshdar on your way in. You got this?)"

"(Hey, do you have, uh...backup plan if things go south all of the sudden)?"

"(Just don't let anyone there know of your identities. Don't act harshly, and always remember, hellhounds are not humans)."

Yeah, right. Like that's gonna happen....

That's what I thought when I turned off the wireless headset. Damn demons. They got these technologies out of us outside circle demons and they got it for themselves. I mean, that was absurd. Who would've thought they invented wireless communication already while I'm still stuck with telegrams? Well, it's a good thing Anubis got the information of a communication base and we took control of it.

For you readers, you may think that the start of this story is so fucking absurd and anachronistic (oh yeah, I've got the hang of my 'ability'), but this was what transpired, and nothing is wrong. The writer is not drunk, either. This is just merely a direct continuation of Wolves' Legacy 2. If you still can't make up with the fact, please take your time, and before continuing, make sure you have at least known the names of the main characters, and the ending of Wolves' Legacy: Time of the Devil. Please, do read.

"(Ifrit, what are you doing again?)"

"(Oh, just the usual thing. It's not your concern, Ani)."

Of course he wouldn't understand a thing about my 'Ability'. Anubis was just as oblivious as most of the characters around me, in addition of being blind. Eshdar just grunted, but he knew what actually happened.

"(He's always like that, Ani, don't make him fuck your brain out)." That comment made Anubis coughed out a laugh, which annoyed me. I asked them to continue with the mission, and with high heads, we opened the door in front of us.

As the intel had said to us, the place where my girlfriend was held was a massive hall of macabre imagery. It wasn't wrong; the place was decorated with all sorts of hellish arts (if you could say it 'art') lining the walls and the ceiling. With a Gothic architecture ever present on Tragorian community, it would always be easy to find centuries-old hall that had become the house of the previous generations. If I was a human, I might be pissed by how bad they desecrated an ancient architecture with high historical value. For me, yeah, this is bad enough. It also reminded us that we were in enemy territory, and I don't want my fears to be realized if my girlfriend had fallen to a final fate.

Dead corpses of humans and Lycans alike decorated the walls and the ceiling. Some were still tied to some breaking wheels hoisted up on the sky, acting as a grotesque chandelier, mocking them of an irony on man's dream of getting into the sky. The walls were smeared with blood, and sprayed with red painted graffiti of Hordo and other hellish language. There was a feast of demons in there, and as we feared, they were all hellhounds, all hundreds of them.

"(If we're going to do that...)"

"(Relax, Ani, we need to follow the rules here)."

"(I'm the only death jackal here as far as I can see)."

Then, a howl came from the podium right at the middle of the circular hall. There was a hellhound painted in tribal painting holding his hands up. The others followed forth, and we followed the crowd.

"(My fellow soldiers. Today, we gather here, on a feast of a lifetime, to celebrate our victory over those pesky humans and our impure cousins. Freedom forever!)"

We all wailed "(Freedom Forever)" together.

"(The kings and queens are no more. They are now our slaves and pests to our new lives into liberty and freedom! We are independent of our fates)."

We did everything they all did, but I didn't have time to hear a speech about liberty. I didn't fucking care about that if they were still enslaved by the old demons. I turned to Anubis and said, "(Have you do what I say, just in case?)"

"(It's the only way out)."

I then made a devilish smile to him. "(Good job. Now, let's wait for a chance, then we stick to the plan, find the prisoners, and get the hell out...)"

"(But tonight, we will feast upon the blood of our slavers, and make the old father rise. And for that, the sacrifice of the non-believers is necessary)."

I didn't think of that before, that they would make such sacrifice a main event. There was a noise of something being lowered and there was it.

The seven prisoners of war, all capable warriors and furious bastards who just happen to be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Without further delay, I found Lilac amongst those in the cage. They were all very calm and collected, despite of being bound. Lilac was the only Lycan in the cage. The rest of them were hellhounds, which I didn't know until their leader said, "(Behold, the guard dogs of our slavers! Their dirty blood will be drained of their wretched body, and they will not be given the rest they sought to expect)."

"(Ifrit, what's going on?)" said the voice of my friend on the headset.

"(Rhynsa, they are going to sacrifice the POWs. Tell me you have that backup plan)."

"(The fuck? Okay, Ifrit, this is not the plan. They're lost cause. Now get the hell out of there before they realize who you are)."

"(I'm not gonna give up on Lilac that easily)."

"(I know you're angry, but I'm so sorry, Ifrit. Agreeing to be the volunteer of this rescue mission is enough to piss some generals off. If we lose the three of you we'll lose morale and that's exactly what this nonsensical religious group wants. I'm ready if you will hate to me for the rest of your life because of this decision, but this is for a greater cause. We must save the world from us)."

At least Rhynsa will get the surprise, I thought of myself with a smile. I took a glance to both Eshdar and Anubis, and then I shut off the headset for our 'secret Plan B'.

"(From what the leader told the group, they will be kept alive for sometimes by the advanced necromancy that save me from that fall)," said Eshdar. "(But we can't let them get too much damage or if the spell is canceled, they'll be dead)."

"(Then let's start before they even get a scratch)," I said.

Now, at this time, it would be unwise to turn your back from the main event, or some would get suspicious. But that's exactly what I'm trying to do now.

As I expected, a hellhound beside me noticed me turning. He held my hand and said, "(What are you doing? This is the main event. The boss will be pissed)."

"(I...don't agree with the execution, my friend, and I am not watching it)." "(Watch it, or we'll brand you a traitor)." He brandished a big knife, enough to chop you up. "(Turn around, or suffer the consequences)."

"(But, why?)"

"(Who do you think you are, asking questions all the time? What's the problem in watching a torture? Are you a fucking coward or what)?"

Well, here's my cue. I turned on the headset so Rhynsa could hear everything. I bet he'll be very pissed off on this, but, if I don't save Lilac and those generals, no one would believe in the monarchs anymore, and I'd be damned if that happened.

Then, with a smirk, I turned to the same hellhound who threatened me and said, "(My name is Ifrit Schelkz, the fifth prince in my heritage to have that name. My jackal friend here is Anubis Caropus, and he has the Caropus curse that will make a pie out of your carcasses. As for Eshdar, he's getting his revenge on being set up to kill his best friends and coming here like a wrath demon. I'm a half wrath demon who happen to be awakened by a strings of events, so fuck you, fascist piece of shit, and have a good night)."

I made another smile before nonchalantly walking with my friends through the crowd. The leader was still oblivious, but just seconds after, the hellhound shouted "(The monarchs are here!)" before another voice, clearly an angry one said, "(You fucking slavers, you'll not be getting out of here alive! I'll eat you alive and burn you in an eternal flame while you see your body burn on a silver platter!)"

The silence came in quick. We were given the red carpet, now, but the three of us smiled and kept walking to the door Anubis had locked. I was still smiling, and when the hellhounds had started taking a nearby object as a weapon, I shouted, "(Corpse Party!)"

I wasn't thinking anymore. Just when my senses had started to open, I looked all of the hellhounds in the rooms as victims and vermin. I really looked down on them, and the sensation I got was to kill every last hellhound in that room who betrayed my family and the monarchs. All reasonable thoughts were blurred, and the next moment I realized, I was thinking of the fight.

I stabbed a hellhound in front of me with my spirit sword, then I cut his head off to stab one trying to stab me with a sharpened beam. I took the beam and skewer around five hellhounds behind me, pushing them to the wall while I took a pistol from a fallen hellhound and shot three with it. I made a roll to dodge a sword swing before turning around and took three more shots. When I realize it was out, I took the cartridges out and threw it to a hellhound in front of me. With the pistol, I extended the muzzle to hit the hellhound in the head, but I didn't stop there. I sensed a hellhound behind me trying to swing a blunt object. I turned my body around, make the hellhound hit the body I was carrying, and I forced the pistol to go through the hellhound's head, extend it to a sword, and impale the one directly behind him.

I ducked when a swing from a giant ax decapitate the two bodies. I reacted by pulling the pistol and used its handle to hit the one behind me. I could hear his skull breaking, and for me, that's the best thing I've ever heard since forever.

I forgot to duck when I wanted to kill a hellhound, but Anubis' sword, being powered by his curse, cut my attacker into half while I lodge a broken wooden pole to a hellhound's heart. I took his giant axe and I swung it to three hellhounds that lost their heads. But my hand was held and I was stabbed by a knife. Luckily, it was superficial, and I took the knife, throw it to a nearby hound, took it, stab another, pull it, stab another, pull it, stab it, and on and on and on and on, for 15 hellhounds.

By this time, the religious groups had thinned to a mere 30, ten for each of us. They didn't give up, and thus, Eshdar ran first and used his dagger and his arrows to kill them. Anubis threw his sword and it cut through five hellhounds before turning back to his hand like a boomerang to cut five more. I used my wrath demon powers to sweep two hellhounds and took their guns. Because my targets were separated, I ran to them, dodging their bullets, and shot them and running at the same time, all the while maintaining my accuracy. When I managed to clip three of them, I made a roll and produced two swords on both of my hands. I slide-kicked one of them, cut two hellhound's leg, took a sword, throw it through a hellhound's heart, and rip the throat of the last hellhound, despite of getting a cut from his butcher knife.

I wasn't aware of the last living, blood-soaked hellhound, but a nice shot of arrow through his head finished the job. In total, we killed 145 hellhounds, and no single soul was spared in the slaughterhouse we made. The door was still locked. We won the fucking bet.

And that left us to the last one; the fucking leader. He was struggling on his legs, clearly scared of what the three of us were capable of. Yet, he was still trying to fight us.

"(I-I still have the hostages, Schelkz. Don't make a wrong move, or I'll make the cages crush them...)"

Anubis did the right job, though. Cutting the chains over the cages made the mechanisms stopped. Pretty convenient, no?

"(That's not fair! Why can't the rebels win? Why?! You villains are not supposed to be alive! Why are you still mocking us, huh, you slaver scum?! We are delivering freedom, and you destroy them!)"

"(One thing for sure, you can't destroy friendship. We vowed to destroy every last bit of resistance, even if we have to be the soldiers to do it. You, who only think of a false liberty given by the old demons, will always be a puppet to your miserable life)."

"(Oh, so now we're the villain in this event?)"

"(World domination is always the work of the villains)."

I was thinking of a good thing to say to him so he would have never challenged us. I didn't get a perfect one, but this might do.

"(Have a nice sleep)." Then I produced a short spear and stabbed him in the throat, breaking his wind pipe and killed him. When it was all done, I exhaled. My friends had just finished freeing the captives, and the made a smile. The three of us were soaked in hellhound blood, and all of us were injured, but none were serious. We were very tired, but I got everything I needed. The generals thanked us of our bravery and sacrifice, and I got the girl...again.

"Goddamn, Ifrit, you're a bloody badass," said Lilac to me, which made me blush.

"Oh, now the hero of the hour blushes? You've got some fine wolf there, Slick. It's always nice bein' in your company."

"Eshdar, and...a black jackal, thank you. We all owe you one."

"(Yeah, we all know how you've become a fucking monster now. Now open this fucking door already!)"

I made a laugh to Rhynsa's comment. It's a shame he couldn't be here with us, owing to his injuries. He must be regretting his condition now.

Anubis then opened the door to let the others in. They watched in awe of the scenery in front of them. I felt like a fucking hero now.

"(Damn these pile of meats. The three of you do this? This might pack a nice punch to them)" said Rhynsa after seeing what we've done.

We all went out of the slaughterhouse as the dawn came. Now, this event really punched them in the face. With so many allies we had gathered, including a dragon, a hell wyvern, and a bunch of elite soldiers, I felt ready to make the final attack.

Now, in the land of Tragoria, where evil bores deep into the hearts of its occupant, it's up to us, the last line of defense between total destruction and the hope of ever seeing a better day, to finish the journey we had started, once and for all.
