A short story of mine, the idea had been in mind for a long while. I hope you enjoy the read. I may eventually make a second part to it.

Butch's Helping Paw

It had been a long day at the office, Butch smiled as he helped his last client up off the couch with an extended paw. "I feel we are making some progress James, how about you?" The large grizzly asked while looking over the skunk he'd helped up.

"I've been feeling better, so sure I guess." The skunk rubbed over the back of his neck while looking up at the bear.

"Well until we can get to a spot where you feel comfortable you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment or drop by earlier in the day." He smiled when the skunk nodded and walked him to the door of the small room. "Have a good rest of your day." Butch said as he watched the teen head out. He then headed back to his desk and started to clean up the files. He had it mostly clean when he heard a light tapping at the door. "Not again." He took a deep breath before making his way over to open the door to see what he had feared had come true. The fox stood there shaking slightly, his arms crossed while one paw held the other arm's elbow.

"Um... Hello, Butch... I w-was wondering..." He went quiet and looked to the floor before peeking back up to see the grizzly staring at him. He bit his lower lip and started to grip his arm extra tight. "I-I'll just g-go..." He let out a soft yelp when, those strong bear arms wrapped around him to hold him tight.

"David, come in with me." Butch said slowly backing up as his arms tugged the fox into the small office, they shuffled on over to his couch where normally just his patients would lay and eased back into the seat. "I'm just really worried for you. It's been about once a day for every day of the week now. You always say you feel better then come back for another session the day after."

The fox looked down when he was being spoken to, his tail flicked about nervously as he was listening. "I-I just..." He stopped himself and started to look around his eyes anywhere but the grizzly's own.

"David, please relax." He sighed and took a moment to collect his thoughts. "I'm not upset with you. I just want to know why." He said his grip tightening on the little fellow squishing the fox against his shirt covered gut.

David closed his eyes and slowly moved his arms to gently wrap around the grizzly's midsection. "Can... can we talk about it after?" He took a few deep breaths as his arms squeezed gently on that bear belly.

Butch rolled his eyes a bit as a smile crossed his muzzle "Sure thing." With a soft grunt he hoisted the fox up, the vulpine's legs spread as he was pulled in. He smiled as the fox wrapped his arms and legs around his midsection to hug tight to his belly.

David felt so blissfully relaxed in the large bear's lap, that soft cloth covered gut was pressed against his front but still gave him plenty of room to rest his head on top with the side of his head coming to rest against the bear's chest the soft thuds of the bear's heartbeat comforted him, those strong ursine paws gently rubbed over his back and made it impossible for him to stay awake.

Butch smiled and continued to gently rub over the fox's back even after hearing the light snoring. "You do know there are pillows out there way softer than my belly." He said in a very soft tone so as not to disturb the fox's sleep.

The next thing David remembered was being poked in the side, the finger continued to nudge and push before it'd quickly make its way up and down over his side sending ticklish sensations through him till he woke with a chuckle "S-stop that." He said while shifting a bit on the bear's lap.

Butch smiled "Well it is rather late. I've let you sleep for about an hour there." He rumbled softly while gently stroking over the vulpine's back.

"F-for an hour?!" The fox looked about for the clock on the wall before blushing when he saw the time. "I-I'm so sorry..." He felt terrible having made the bear stay extra late for him, but as he looked up to the grizzly, he was smiling.

"I don't know what you might find out about others, but I do this cause I want to help people." He rumbled happily and gave the fox a tight squeeze against his gut making the little fellow wheeze a bit before he'd gently help the fox back onto his feet.

"Thank you, so much for helping me relax." David said before slowly reaching down into his pocket to pull out his wallet. "I-I know it's usu-" he was cut off when Butch reached over to place a paw on his own.

"Not this time. You've paid me five times already this week, for a therapy session that doesn't seem to be working for you." He smiled "I think I got a temp fix in mind that will save your wallet and my office time." He slowly stood up and walked with the fox to his office door. "How about you just come see me whenever you are feeling down and I'll pick you back up."

David blinked a bit as he thought it over "Isn't that what I do now." He said while starting to rub one of his arms as he walked with Butch.

"Not exactly. I mean any time. If you see me out and about and need to chat or a hug, just come over and ask I have nothing against a comforting hug in public if it would help." He chuckled softly as he walked with an arm around David; they made their way out to his office's parking lot.

David blushed a bit at the offer and looked to his feet as he was lead out and walked to his car illuminated by the lights. "Are, are you sure?" He asked while reaching a paw back to rub over his neck as he thought about it.

"I'm very sure. Just give this idea a shot for a while and if things don't improve... well we'll need to come up with a new plan of attack." He said with a soft chuckle before turning about to head to his own car and get in. "I'll see you around David. Have a good night."

David nodded and got into his own car and started it up only to then pull out his cell phone and act like he was messing with it while still parked there, he watched and waited until he saw Butch pull out. He quickly peeked around the lot before heading back into the building and up to the receptionist. "Uh- H-hello?"

The lioness behind the counter smiled "Was there something you forgot back in Butch's office?" She asked politely.

"Uh N-no I was just curious if there was a place he liked to go." He shifted a bit feeling awkward asking about him.

"I'm not exactly sure if I should be handing out information like that." She looked over the fox watching as he shifted about on the spot.

"I-I just wanted to get him a gift from someplace he liked to go." He said before looking down at his feet hoping the awkwardness would pass and that she would believe him.

Butch smiled as he walked into the local night club and slowly undid his buttoned shirt and let it hang on him as his hefty gut hung out in front of him. He grinned as he slowly made his way through the crowd his belly lightly pressing on folks as he went to plop down in his corner seat a smile on his face as he closed his eyes and relaxed. His foot tapped along with the beat of the song.

David shifted about uneasily as he looked over the entrance to the nightclub the loud music and the crowd had him worried, but the familiar sight of the big grizzly's car out front made him get out of his own and head into the building. Once inside a short lived panic set in as he curled his tail up between his legs he slowly looked about through the crowd before he'd spot Butch off in the corner.

The grizzly smiled and stretched a bit more in his seat before he'd open his eyes letting his own troubles slip away, he was almost fully relaxed when he felt a small figure settle down to the left of him. He'd turn his head to get a good look as the fox slowly scooted in next to him. "Guess you got stressed out again hm?" He said with a soft sigh and brought his paw down over the vulpine's back. "No worries though, that's why I'm here."

"I-I just wanted to see where you liked to go to relax." He said before leaning in against the bear's side his head coming to rest on that big belly. "I'll leave soon..." He said looking down at his feet only to eep as the bear's arm squeezed him tight.

Butch shook his head and smiled "Just relax with me, like you did before. But now it's for the both of us." He let out a happy rumble and slowly closed his eyes only to jump awake as the fox would start to gently rub and squeeze over his large gut. "Hehe you really like that don't you?" He didn't give the fox a chance to explain as he pulled him up onto his lap to hold snug right against that soft gut. "Mmm how is this?"

David felt his muzzle heat up and quickly buried it in that warm soft gut, his paws reached out to either side to rub and squeeze softly on the bear's sides. "I-it's nice." He said shaking a little a bit before those two strong ursine paws started to massage over his back.

The grizzly smiled "That is good to hear." He tilted his head down and kissed the top of the fox's head "So, how does meeting me outside the office feel? Like you can relax more?" He asked politely while his paws rubbed over the fox's back.

"It's different. I-I don't know if I like all the others watching us though." He said clinging a bit tighter to the big grizzly his own paws gripping the bear's sides.

"It'll be fine, I promise." Butch smiled and began to rumble happily as he hugged the fox tight to his gut. "If any of them have something to say about two folks giving each other hugs just let me straighten them out." Butch said with a playful growl in his voice.

The fox nodded slowly before resting there in the bear's grip, he closed his eyes and relaxed getting used to the loud music and the bear's strong grip. A few minutes later he shifted slightly and eased himself off to sit beside the grizzly. "I'm feeling better now." He said softly.

Butch smiled and nodded before wrapping an arm around the fox again to hold him tight. "That's good but you don't have to leave immediately. It's one of the benefits of us meeting out of the office." He rumbled softly before slipping his free paw down into his pants pocket and pulls out one of his business cards, he flipped it over and grabbed his pen to quickly write out his address. "Also, here is my address stop by tomorrow if you are feeling off again."

David blinked a bit and looked up to the grizzly as he was handed the small slip of paper. "A-are you sure? I-I won't be a bother will I?" He blushed when his question was met with the grizzly leaning over to kiss the top of his head.

"You won't be a bother, I'm planning on having a bit of a get together of my buddies and I'd like you to be there." Butch smiled "I won't force it on you, but I think getting out and chatting with others and mingling a bit will help."

The fox nodded and leaned in resting his head against the bear's side "That sounds... Nice. Are you leaving soon though?"

The grizzly nodded before giving the fox a gentle squeeze. "Yes I am, but I won't force you to try and work your way through the crowd alone." Butch slowly stood up and held out a paw for the fox.

David smiled and gently gripped the bear's paw and let out a happy rumble of his own as he was lead through the dancing crowd his tail starting to wag at the thought of meeting Butch tomorrow, with his mind on other things he didn't notice the change in scenery until the grizzly stopped next to their cars.

"I'll see you tomorrow I hope." Butch smiled and waved politely as he worked his way into his car and started it up. David smiled and nodded before sighing in relief feeling better than he had in a long time. He slipped into his own car and started it up his mind still on the get together tomorrow as he made his way home for the night.
