Role Reversal
#2 of Short Stories
Gary turned the Tv off quickly. The blue wolf was too creeped out to see that movie any longer. He knew that he was 17, but still couldn't help but feel a bit creeped out. His boyfriend (and fiance), David looked over and saw Gary all shook up. He let Gary cuddle up to him.
"Everything alright?" David asked.
"Yeah. It's just... that movie was scary." Gary said.
"I know. Maybe watching 'Ouija' wasn't a good idea." David pet his BF on his head. Gary buried his face in the green fox's bare chest. "Hey, hey. There's nothing to be scared of." David caressed the wolf on his back as he stayed cuddled up to him.
"Can we just... go to bed?" the trembling wolf asked.
"Of course." David picked up Gary and carried him upstairs to his room. Dave was 18 years old and was a bit stronger than his boyfriend. He laid him down in his bed and covered them both with his blanket.
"Are you ok, Garrett?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just was a bit freaked out by that movie."
"Well. You're ok." The green fox kissed the top of his head.
"You sure?"
"Yes." David slept pretty well that night, just not that great for Gary. The wolf had a nightmare about a demon coming to kill him in his sleep. In fact, he woke up yelling and thrashing about. David awoke in seconds to try and calm him down. When he did, the wolf was still breathing a bit heavy
"Gary? Are you alright?" David asked.
"No. I dreamt about... it." Gary said, referring to the ghost, DZ, from the movie they watched.
"You want some water to calm down?"
"Sure, but, can I come with you?"
"Of course." David grabbed Gary's paw and went they went down the stairs. David knew that a 17 year old wolf shouldn't be this started by s scary movie, but in a way, he like it because he loved that Gary would come to him if he ever got scared.
David got Gary a glass of water from the sink and gave it to him. "Thanks." the blue wolf said. He gulped some of it down and he said he was done.
"So, you think you're ok now?"
"I guess. Are you still going to be here with me?"
"Of course, Garrett. I love you too much to leave you." with that, he kissed his lover on the lips and hugged him.
"I love you too." David picked Gary in his arms again and carried him back upstairs.
"You want to go back to sleep?"
"Is it ok if we just stay awake for the rest of the night? After all, it's only 4 in the morning." the blue wolf was trying to find any excuse to not have to go back to sleep and face his night terror again.
"It's ok." David knew that his wolf just didn't want to have another bad dream, but he liked giving him attention. The green fox just held his fiance close and continued talking to him. "Hey, I just want you to know something."
"What is it?" Gary asked.
"I know that other furs have said to you that you need to 'man up' and stop being a 'scaredy cat'."
"Yeah. I'm aware of that." Gary knew that others have called him that, but it didn't really bother him. But he was always scared that David would eventually dump him because of how easily startled he gets.
"And I know that you think that I might leave you because of that."
"What? What makes you think that?"
"Because I can see it in your eyes. But, I want you to know that I'm not going to leave you. I've loved you ever since I first met you when we were paired up for that science project."
"Yeah. I can remember that like it was only a few days ago." Gary thought of that day with a smile, along with the day when David proposed to him.
"And I still love you. No matter what." the green fox hugged him tight, with his next thoughts wondering over what their wedding will be like.
