Encouragement from Underfoot for Nataraj by Draconicon

Nataraj grunted as several orc guards pulled him out of his hut, dragging him through the conquered village. The lizard wobbled from side to side, due to the heavy chains that bound his legs together and his hands behind his back, but it was the blow to the head that made things most difficult. The lizard stumbled several times, falling to his knees before the orcs pulled him to his feet again and continued dragging him along.

The trip through the village was depressing, to say the least. Admittedly, the village of Het's Crossing wasn't the biggest or grandest lizard dwelling around. For that matter, it was barely more than a settlement on the side of a swampy bridge. But it had been his home for years, and now the orcs had taken it for themselves. Nataraj shook his head sadly at several burnt out homes, several steaming rather than smoking due to the sheer moisture in the air and the material. Families of other lizards were bound up and walked down to the other end of the village.

Likely to be claimed by other orcs as toys...probably like I'm about to be.

The lizard was marched into the slightly bigger town hall, a building that was dug into the ground on the far side of the village from the river. Nataraj's robes fluttered about him as he was thrown to the ground in the main hall, kept on his knees before the conqueror of the village.

He looked up, facing the orc. He was big, perhaps a foot taller than the lizard was, and while he was big bellied, he was also big of arm and leg. The muscles rolled with his slightest movement, and Nataraj had the feeling that the four foot long blade at his side, thick and blooded, wasn't just for show.

"I see that you slid right into the chair. Is it letting you go yet?"

His comment made the orc blink.

"What do you mean, lizard?"

"Well, it's just that your fat ass looks like it's not really fitting there very well. Can you even stand up?"

Several of the orc soldiers laughed, but they cut off as their chief glared at them. The big green warrior turned his attention back to the lizard.

"You are full of insubordination."

"Well, that's a new one on me. Been called full of crap, full of words, full of -"

"SILENCE!"

Nataraj stifled a chuckle. The orc still hadn't stood up, which he felt had proved that point well enough. The lizard shook his head.

"I imagine I am to become your slave?"

"Yes! And you'll learn your place now."

The orc nodded to the soldiers, who pushed the lizard flat on the ground. Nataraj grunted from the impact, but didn't bother to complain. Besides, he had a nice view of the leader's big green feet. Well tended to, as well; he had inspected the villagers' feet quite a few times for signs of infection - as well as other things - so he knew how to see feet that were tended to properly.

Of course, most of the villagers weren't quite so sweaty, he found out as the orc lowered his foot down on his face. Nataraj took a few sniffs, his eyes rolling back at the scent of musk coming off of the soles.

"Hoo, sheesh. You know, we're right by a river. You couldn't have fallen in on your trip through our village?"

"You'll learn your place, lizard. Just get used to being under my feet; you're not going anywhere else for a while."

"Really? I thought you were going to punish me. Are you sure you know what you're doing?"

"You...little..."

"Maybe you should give me to someone else? I mean, I know you're trying and all, but you're not very effective. Don't worry, I've heard that you can grow into it, though I don't know how much more growing you can do, considering that -"

"SHUT UP!"

The orc shoved his foot down, several of his toes passing between the lizard's lips and into his mouth. The taste honestly wasn't bad; not the sweatiest that he'd ever tasted - that honor belonged to an elephant merchant making his way south - but far from the mildest. Probably a moderate vintage of sweat, by the lizard's tastes. He would have rated it fairly well.

He sucked on the orc's toe as a consolation prize, the lizard mentally shaking his head at the incapable leadership. If he hadn't been sleeping, then this warlord probably wouldn't have done nearly so much damage, considering he couldn't even dominate someone properly. And here he thought that orcs were very good at that. Goes to show what he knew; he supposed that the rumor that all horses were wonderfully well hung was probably fake, too.

So much for dreams, he thought with a sigh, flicking his tongue between the orc's sweaty toes. He could hear the chieftain chuckling above him, muttering something megalomaniacal. He barely heard it, tuning it out to enjoy what he could of the foot flavor. The fleshy musk wasn't too bad, either, though, again, not quite what he'd been hoping for. It was too weak, by half, and he would have thought the orc would push down more, pin him in place, rather than just hover the foot over his mouth.

Ah well. It looks like I'll have to help him.

The lizard turned his attention to the orc's sole, licking over the underside a few times to get sufficient spit over it among the sweat. As the orc laughed above him, the lizard started drawing symbols with his spit in the sole, little sparks of light showing to his eyes as they were completed. Bit by bit, he drew in the spell symbols, making sure that they were perfect before moving over to the other foot.

The orc was in fine spirits, as well, and Nataraj rolled his eyes as the orc chief started bragging.

"See? The lizards are a weak race. They crumble before our fighting prowess, and even this one, their supposed shaman, is nothing but a foot licking weakling. How they ever grew rich is beyond me, but they're just waiting to be conquered. Tonight, we celebrate, and two days hence, we march across the river into the Scale Swamp, to take everything!"

Though the crowd cheered, Nataraj simply twirled his finger in the air. The speech was almost impossible to take seriously, and he doubted that there would be that much of a threat further into the swamp. Though he was the only one here that had much strength, he was also the one that appreciated the visit of the orcs the most. The lizards down in the swamp would be a great deal less welcoming than he was.

He finished tracing the symbols on the orc's other foot, and smiled as he pulled his head back, looking up at the chief.

"You know, you really should pay more attention."

"Ha! Why? You'll be paying enough attention to me for the both of us."

"Well, for one, fat-ass -"

"Don't call me that, slave!" The orc tried to get up, but the point that Nataraj had been making from the start was proven true. He simply couldn't, his wider hips and round ass not able to pull out of a lizard's chair. Nataraj chuckled.

"I told you that you wouldn't be getting out of there."

"I'll hack it apart! Stop talking!"

"Why? I would think you'd be more concerned with your growing feet."

As the lizard pointed down, he saw every eye in the room - orc and lizard alike - head to the chief's feet. The big green soles were getting longer and fatter, spreading out to cover more area. The big green toes were getting bigger, and the undersides were starting to sweat a great deal more. Nataraj almost regretted not being under them, considering that they were getting so much better, but he didn't want to get his head stomped if the orc panicked too badly.

It turned out to be the right decision, as the orc chief flailed about. His big feet - passing two feet long and still growing - stomped and slapped against the ground louder than an elephant army on the march. His soldiers, including the ones that had been throwing the lizard around, quickly pulled back, muttering to themselves about magic. Nataraj shook his head.

"Please, it's basic sorcery. It's not like it's all that fancy."

He stood up as the orc continued to freak out, shaking his head a few times again as he gestured at his chains. They snapped apart at the middle of the lengths, but the swaying of the metal nearly threw him off balance, making him rock from side to side for a moment.

"Who-oa! Okay. Note to self. Don't try and look cool, just do the job."

"You crazy lizard!"

He turned back to the chief, whose feet had already passed the four foot mark in length, and were so big that they couldn't rest flat on the floor anymore. The toes grew further and further outwards, and the sweat drops running down the underside of the chieftain's feet were getting bigger as well, almost as though they were pouring out through bigger sweat glands. The orc whimpered, gripping the throne tightly.

"Change me back! Fix your damn magic!"

"Oh, but your chief-ness, you know I shouldn't do that."

Nataraj smiled as he walked under the feet, stroking his fingers along the soles with a sigh. The moisture left them rank, musky, but so slick and smooth. He dragged his fingers from the toes to as close to the heel as he could get before pushing the pair apart, standing between them.

"Look at these. They are so much more powerful than your previous pair. And to think, you thought that they were punishing? Please, they were little more than distracting. What I've given you is a wonderful little pair."

He turned, looking at the other orcs.

"And I think, unless they can match your new feet in terms of musk and power, I should spread this spell. Does anyone think they're better?"

"Of course they don't! I'm the strongest, the best, the most powerful, and - HEY!"

The lizard smiled as almost every soldier in the place took off their boots, while the couple that didn't ran away. Nataraj shook his head, looking over his shoulder at the orc chief.

"Somehow, I thought I'd see it this way. How did you get to be the leader again? Money? Lineage?"

"..."

"That's what I thought." He turned back to the other orcs, clapping his hands. "Okay, boys. Feet up, and let's see who can walk out and who will be the area's new big-footed fiends."

The End
