"Welcome class. This is Biology 309. I'm glad all of you are pres--yes?", asked the professor, seeing a hand being raised in the large room where his students were behind long tables, the room when viewed from above looking like a wave leaving a point of origin. He had about 100 students, with most of them concentrated in the middle and very few on the front most tables, and the highest back ones. His first day on the job, and it seemed that someone had a question, a curious fox girl dressed in a black and white school uniform, with a white skirt that barely covered the knees, "You're the teach? But you're a dragon! I herd dragon were into magicks and stuff like that." she asked, the students starting to murmur amongst each other.

It was difficult for him to get a job, being a 7'2" tall blue dragon, with a long neck that was about 5 inches in length, almost giraffe like, "Yea, most are. However, I believe in science. Do not worry about what my species is known for, worry for the exams. They're worth 40 percent of your grade." he replied with a smirk, everyone groaning as it seemed he would be a tough professor. The black stripes all over were only visible on his neck, as he was dressed in proper teaching attire, a black suit with white undershirt, cleaned and pressed to impress. It was only due to a good amount of favors that he was able to grab a job at A.N.Thrope University, one of the few non-segregated universities in the country. There were issues over sharing a campus with humans and other species, as hate crimes, and hunting crimes were higher than normal among the young adults. The Late Anthony Neil Throu, a bloodhound of incredible influence dedicated his life to try to unite the country, with this university being the legacy he left behind.

Everyone was different on the outside, but internally, everyone was equal he thought. We all felt, we all loved, we all cried, there was no reason for anyone to hate simply because of species. His legacy lived on in many of the new generation, but the older generation were split upon that, many believing themselves to be the better species than others, usually the carnivores to the herbivores. Laws were created in the wake of increased hate crimes, but some argued that they were biased and could be used for dubious purposes if tried, some court cases being scrutinized for the jury and judge. At least finally, things were starting to look up, seeing quite a few bright faces during the first day of class. He gave no homework, but he expected everyone to be in class, and he made sure to go over the material in rough detail. He hid his nervousness while he taught as he had two classes a day to teach, each one a two and a half hour lecture, with a break at the 1 hour and 15 minute mark. He managed to secure not only a job teaching physics but also biology, a lucky break for a dragon with two PhDs in both.

Thankfully, he felt that he kept everyone's interest, handing out his syllabus and seeing only minor amount of students discussing amongst another. After a long day of teaching, he sat in his office after everyone had gone, seeing that it was already 5 pm, "...Well now...this week should be simple...and I have next week planned out. I hope that they..aren't intimidated by me. Dragons are rare, but the rep..no, I do not need to think what mom and dad said. No one is superior than the other." he thought to himself, shaking his head to clear his mind of all doubts. His office had a window behind him, with his wide oak desk having a computer monitor and a few action figures he thought would relax the students if they were to visit him during his office hours.

He was incredibly lucky one of his closest friends was the Librarian here, and she put in a good word for him. She had already gone home so he could not visit her, now considering going himself after rechecking his lecture material as he felt he could have worded a few things better. It was also important to work on not being so intimidating, already towering over most of the students, except for a few of the jocks. Of course, there were a few exceptions to the average height, with a few exotic species being extra-large but they were usually more of the less predator species that most people already have less faith in. He decided on grabbing a snack in the food court, as he did not pack any lunch or snacks today.

Money would be a bit tight until his next paycheck and the last thing he needed were any surprises that would cause him to be broke. Well more broke than he was now, those pockets emptier than the halls of the university as he walked, turning to see the sunset and the front of the campus. There was a big statue on the south entrance showing A.N.Thrope holding a rather famous book, "Many Faces, One Spirit", a fictional book about a world where people were judged by their character, not their looks. It was ground breaking by the fact that a dragon had written it during more species complicated times. Few dragons in the current age tend to disregard it since it was a story based on equality and that was something not the agendas of most dragons.

That kind of thinking is what made things hard for a dragon like him to get any job in a multispecies region. With the last world war however, things have been favoring peace and integration in order to progress forward. Eurasia gave a sigh once those thoughts slipped into his mind, arriving at food court that had recently been renovated. There were a few students still sticking around to relax, the dragon getting a few stares as he walked past the many tables and chairs, to purchase a large cup of water and an order of Chili fries. The special of the month was an extra-large order of those fried potatoes in meat and bean sauce for the price of a medium, a special that the dragon could not resist.

Such deliciousness could not be enjoyed in a place where he was being examined and judged, glancing left and right to feel weight of the stares. A better option was to head over to the empty teacher's lounge for a time to relax. As he quickly made his way over, he used his tail to open the door and was surprised at how tricked out the lounge was. There were several white tables with a soft blue carpet. Although he did not wear shoes, the bottom of his foot had the patented "Sole Shock Absorber". It was basically a shoe that only covered the sole, for those who had odd shaped feet such as dragons and he could feel the carpet with his claws that were specifically dulled to prevent any worry, "Oh wow AC, leather seat--a vending machine with snacks?! Nice!" thought the dragon as he got a good view of the place and the options in the three vending machines.

This lounge was a true area of relaxing for the leaders of learning, seeing no expense paid to the view as well in the brightly lit room. Immediately he took a seat at the far end of the room, right in front of window to stare outside. The sunset looked grand over the city, that ball of fusion over the horizon had a deep orange tint to it that looked beautiful. The dragon seemed lost in the thought for a moment to enjoy the view before the sound of the door opening broke his trance, looking over his shoulder to see a penguin walk in. The black dress suit and ID on her breast pocket was proof she was a professor but he noted she was a bit on the short side.

He did his best not to stare, only having spoken to the Head of the University and his sister, along with a few people in his department who were herbivores questioning his reasons to teach biology. The fries were going to get cold at this rate so he proceeded to start munching, sipping at his drink as he heard the penguin head over to the vending machine which serves drinks. First impressions were key and he wondered if he should introduce himself, munching few more fries that were covered in chili with a fork to avoid dirtying his hands, "I think I saw her earlier today..she went into the engineering department. So we're in the same quadrant." remembered the dragon as he gave a low growl in delight, the food being better quality than he expected.

Immediately he tensed up and hoped that penguin did not hear him, not wanting to scare off anyone with something that could sound threatening. You could hear the rusty creaking in his neck as he turned slowly, only noticing now that she was already gone, "...! I hope I didn't scare her off--aack!" he thought in worry before gasping in surprise, seeing the penguin sitting opposite him with a big smile on her beak, "Oh you're the dragon everyone's been talking about." she remarked, sitting up in her chair as she leaned forward on the table to get a good look at him. That nervous demeanor was unexpected, seeing him sit up straight and nod slowly while she leaned a bit closer.

"Y-Yea, I-I'm Eurasia. I teach Biology over in room 21X...and I also teach intro to Physics." he replied with a bit of a shy tone in his voice, seeing her smile with a slight chuckle. This was the first dragon she ever met in person, a feathered finger coming to her black beak. It was even more of a surprise that he worked in sciences, the complete opposite of what anyone would think a dragon would be interested in, "Bio? Oh wow, a dragon who knows his way around the body and the forces behind stuff like that." she said in a coy tone, the dragon giving a slow nod.

It was then she gave a light gasp and offered a hand, realizing it would have been rude not to introduce herself, "I'm Susan, but most of my friends call me "Sue". I'm one of cool birds in charge Engineering 306!" exclaimed the kind penguin, the dragon wiping his hands properly before taking her hand. The size difference was no more apparent than how much bigger his hand was, giving a slightly firm handshake with a shy smile, "Though you also teach a 300 level class...Must mean you know everything about the differences in species as well. Not just anyone can secure a firm position up there---Oh! I actually have to go and meet up with a friend." she remembered as she saw the clock at the corner of her eye, patting the dragon's claws and feeling him shake a bit but still keeping a smile.

"A-ah...okay. Take care Susan." replied the blue dragon with a light blush, the penguin slipping off the chair and heading out. The green stockings and black suit made her look quite professional. The feeling of someone talking to him without being scared or glaring him down felt quite nice, looking down at his food and happily finishing off the fries. As Susan left the teacher's lounge, a grin formed along her beak. That dragon was quite shy and worth keeping in mind.

  • Later that Friday...

The week seemed to have flown right on by, and the talk of the dragon had spread to every part of the university and even the city. Scaled mentor or predator awaiting for his moment were among some of the talk everyone was discussing. Least he got his first student who came in to his office, a zebra male nervously asking for some help. By the time they had finished, he seemed much more relaxed once he got to know his teacher, finding out that the dragon enjoyed things such as video games and some sports.

Despite feeling fast, the first week was difficult since a few parents came in to talk to the head of the department about a dragon teaching the class. Showing ungrounded fears about his kind teaching their child. The current head of the school personally attended the discussion and quelled any poor thoughts anyone would have, stating that their background checking did not find anything that would show that Eurasia was a threat to their kids and other students. The rock bottom emotions welled up for a few nights after that, finding relief when speaking to his colleagues. Susan seemed to be the friendliest of the bunch, hitting him up when he had a chance with an interest on getting to know him between classes.

The kind penguin walked with Eurasia to the bus stop, learning that he lived on the other side of town. Susan lived a few blocks away in a quaint 2-story home, in a small neighborhood with other avians. She lived in the Feather Flock District of town, where bird or anything feathery kept together for safety. Small patches of similar species were common as multispecies streets were prone to more problems and hate crimes. Although the numbers have gone down, people still kept the old traditions of keeping close to their own kind or type. On the second floor, she laid in bed, relaxing as she watched TV. The black and white feathered bird liked relaxing in nothing but comfortable white panties, the black nipples being the only thing not covered in feathers. Her favorite TV show had passed and there wasn't much else to do aside from maybe sleep. That black beak opened wide, yawning hard before turning on her side to grab her phone. She got a message a few minutes ago, checking it and giving a happy chirp as it was a very good friend.

"So the dragon is a nice guy huh? Still planning on introducing me to him when I return?" said the text, Susan having told her friend about the new professor. Shy, tall, and intelligent were among the few words she used to describe him. She quickly texted back, responding with "Yea, hopefully he won't faint seeing you. Though he seems to be opening up." and giggling at how he looked when she grabbed his hand today to tug him to the food court. The fun part were the questions she was being asked in hanging with what was thought to be a "vicious predator who preys on smaller creatures", to which she responded that he probably couldn't hurt a fly. It would not be until a few more weeks until her friend would return to the country, having a job that required lots of travelling, "Alright, get some sleep then. We'll talk soon B." said the final text of the evening, the bird yawning and nodding, sending a "good night" text and turning off the tube to get some well-needed rest.

Eurasia was still awake, sitting down in the living room of the penthouse in the dark. The star-like dots coming from the buildings in the distance were his only light, the dark cloud covered sky blanketing everything in darkness. Being alone lead the dragon to think too hard, sighing in slight depression. The glass table he was resting his head on held a cup of juice as well, the blue scaled male trying not to let the rough week get him down and failing at it, "Ugh...stupid family...need to do something fun..." he muttered to himself, keeping himself from scratching the glass.

Something came to mind like a car screeching to a halt, raising his head with a gasp, "Ah! Right, the pool. It opens tomorrow. They renovated it for the swim team since they won the last big tournament. I think facility can use it too...I'll check it out in the afternoon--wait, do I have swim trunks?" wondered Eurasia, standing up and heading to his room to ransack his closet. After finding what he needed, he jumped right to bed, planning on resting Saturday and grading homework on Sunday.
