The Life and Times of Brandon Firestone

_ _

Fire. There was fire everywhere completely surrounding the red furred anthro, yet it didn't hurt him the fire didn't burn his skin or threaten to completely engulf him and neither did the huge figure standing in the middle of the flames.

Slowly the red furred anthro made his way towards the creature, the creature growled at him once revealing its gleaming white teeth. The anthro hesitated for a moment but then he began to move again, slowly he made his way towards the beast and when he was right in front of him he reached his hand out. The creature that was a giant compared to the small little anthro was hesitant at first allowed the boy to touch him and then he awoke.

"Brandon, hurry up or you'll be late for school!"

Brandon, a red furred wolf/dog anthro slowly got up from his bed. With a loud yawn he sat up straight and stretched his arms as he tried to remember what happened. He fell to sleep pretty fast last night after watching the Wrestling League Championship and he knew that most of the school will be talking about it.

Brandon made his way towards his closet and got dressed when he was done he headed down stairs to the kitchen

"Good morning dear, did you sleep well?" Brandon's mom, an anthro dog with brown fur said.

"Yeah mom, I slept all right." Brandon said as he took a bite out of the waffle that was one the table.

"So, how did that history report turn out, you did finish it right?" His mom said as she raised an eyebrow at him.

"I finished it mom don't worry," Brandon said as he finished the waffle. "I've been ready for this."

"Today our world is ruled by four leading countries," Brandon said as he began to finish his report.

"Our home country of Arkana, which is a mixture of Humans, Anthros, and mystical beings."

"Rajan, the land of mythical beast and the leading country in the ways of magic."

"Faraku, land of the Anthros and home to the International Fight Tournament."

"And our neighboring country Wagon, land of the humans and the most powerful military force on the planet."

"The four countries have enjoyed a time of peace that has lasted three hundred years and as long as the four countries remember to look at what they have in common instead of what is different then that peace may continue to last."

As Brandon finished his report a group of small applause came from the class.

"Thank you Mr. Firestone for that report." Said the teacher who was an Elf with long blonde hair and green eyes. "Okay class we are out of time for today, but we will finish the history reports next week, which will give some of you time to finish if you haven't all ready." The teacher said as the bell rang dismissing the students so they could return home.

"That was a good report Brandon." Brandon turned around and saw Carina, a grey furred cat with blue eyes and short black hair.

"Thanks Carina, I was a bit nervous though. I thought someone would make fun of it."

"Why would anyone make fun of your report?" Carina asked. "It was pretty accurate, but I did think you should have put in more information about The Battle for Arkana."

"My favorite part was the first International Fight Tournament." A voice said from behind them.

Shane, a big brown bear anthro wearing a black wrestling fan shirt came up from behind them and grabbed Brandon in a headlock.

"Hey, let go of me Shane!" Brandon yelled as Shane began to mess with his head fur.

"Ah, lighten up Red," Shane said as he let go of Brandon. "Hey, why don't we go meet up with K.C. outside and then go to my house?"

"Yeah, I guess we can go see what he's up too." Brandon said as he fixed his head fur back to the way he wanted. "Hey Carina are you coming?"

"No thanks guys, I have a lot of homework tonight. I'll check back with you guys later."

****

As Brandon and Shane left the school they were greeted by a short human boy with brown hair and blue eyes.

"You guys! You won't believe what just happened." K.C. said as he ran up to the two anthros.

"K.C. slow down, what is it?" Brandon said.

"Sorry, but listen I just called my dad at the station and I overheard one of the cops talking. There's a werewolf in city!"

"A what!?" Brandon and Shane shouted.

"Yeah, a werewolf, I bet the S.N. Task Force is already preparing to scout the whole city.

"Great, knowing them the whole city will be on alert and they'll set the city curfew to seven o' clock."

"I don't see what for," Shane said. "I'm training to enter the International Fight Tournament; I can handle an overgrown mutt."

"I seriously doubt that kid." A voice said.

The three boys turned around and saw a tall black wolf wearing a dark jacket and sunglasses looking down at them.

"Hello Brandon, it's been awhile." The wolf said.

"Um... do I know you? Brandon said.

"Yeah, you do but you probably don't remember. You were pretty young." The wolf said. "Well, I'll see you later." The black wolf turned around and made his way towards the other side of the street.

"Uh... Brandon, who was that guy?" K.C. asked.

"I honestly don't know."

****

"So that's him? He's pretty small dad." A grey wolf wearing sunglasses said.

"He'll grow, if I remember correctly Velocity, Marcus was taller then you just a few years ago." The black wolf said.

"Do we really need him?" A brown wolf growled. "He's going to be nothing but trouble, I can already tell."

"Well it doesn't really matter what you think Marcus. His powers are the most valuable to our cause." The black wolf growled. "And if I find his body mangled somewhere in a dumpster, you will be punished severely."

Marcus was phased for a second but he shook it off. "Fine, I'll get the items ready." Marcus said as he leaped off the building and then onto the next one.

The rest of the day turned out exactly as Brandon had said. The city was on full alert and the curfew had been seven o' clock. This caused a lot of trouble for many people; mostly the ones who liked to stay out late or had other plans. Next year the people would definitely vote for a new curfew time.

Brandon sat down on his bed trying to figure out how he would spend the rest of his day. Just then his stomach growled.

"Guess I'm eating first." Brandon said as he made his way to the kitchen.

Brandon went to the fridge and pulled out a slice of leftover pizza. After he warmed it up he sat down on the couch and turned on the television. The news was on and apparently this lycan was causing a lot of trouble.

"The S.N. Task Force still has no new leads on the whereabouts of the werewolf that has entered the city." An anthro fox said. We are glad to report that there have been no attacks either and let's hope that there are none."

Brandon set his slice of pizza down and went over to the window. He started thinking where his mom could be she didn't normally stay out this late, especially with the moon so high in the night. Brandon looked up at full moon which was shining brightly in the sky.

"Wow... it's so beautiful..." Brandon unconsciously reached for the moon, as if to hold it in his hands but no matter how close it seemed it was very, very far away.

Suddenly Brandon let out a yelp as a sharp pain struck his body. Every part of his body seemed to be in pain. Soon Brandon's body started to grow and his clothes ripped as his muscles became larger, his teeth became sharper and his paws grew larger, finally his fur became darker until it became a blood red color. When the transformation was complete Brandon howled at the moon and jumped through the window heading into the night.

"Finished," Carina said as she set down her math assignment. As she sat at her desk she looked outside the window to Brandon's house.

"I wonder how the guys are doing. I hope they didn't decide to go looking for that werewolf."

As if on cue a blood red werewolf jumped out of Brandon's window and sprinted towards the downtown area.

Carina was stunned for a few seconds at the scene she had just took place, but finally managed to leap from her desk and follow what she assumed was her friend before someone could hurt him, or before he could hurt someone.

"Alright come on K.C.," Shane said as he and K.C. sneaked through the back alley to the spots where the werewolf had been seen.

"I-I don't know Shane, what if we do find the werewolf."

"If we do find it then I'm going to take it down, and that'll prove I'm Fight League material." Shane said as he smacked the brass knuckles he had on his fists together. "Now you got the camera?"

K.C. nervously pulled out the video camera that he had brought out of his backpack.

"Good now just hold it steady while I call the big bad wolf." The brown bear said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver whistle shaped like a wolf and blew it.

"What kind of whistle is that?" K.C. asked as Shane kept blowing with no sound coming from the whistle.

"It's a lycan whistle, in a few seconds were going to have us a werewolf."

"Well, how do we even know it works?"

"Trust me K.C. it works, now keep your eyes open and hold that camera still...K.C.?"

K.C. was trembling hard he raised his hand dropping the camera in the process and pointed behind Shane trying to speak but couldn't.

Shane turned around and his eyes widened. Standing in front of him was a blood red werewolf with green glowing eyes and at least a foot taller than him.

Quickly Shane brought up his fists and punched the werewolf in the face. The lycan shook its head before growling at Shane. Shane attempted another punch but before he could the werewolf slashed at Shane's chest.

Shane's eyes went wide in shock as he felt his body grow heavy. He fell before the great beast and saw his blood spilling on the ground. "D-Damn it..." Shane said. He expected to bleed to death and die on the streets but the werewolf wasn't done with him yet.

The lycan picked Shane up by his neck and growled. Soon his muzzle was soon filled with fire and he was about to strike Shane again.

"BRANDON DON'T!"

Brandon turned around and saw Carina on the other side of the alley. She looked like she was almost out of breath and had run pretty far to get here.

Brandon dropped Shane on the ground and turned to Carina. She was crying. Her fur wet with tears running down her face. For a second the glowing in Brandon's eyes stopped and returned to normal.

"Brandon, please stop..." Carina cried.

Brandon's eyes began to glow that eerie green color. He returned to all fours and his paws caught on fire. He leapt at Carina unleashing a savage roar, but before he could touch the grey cat a hand knocked him aside into a pile of trashcans.

Brandon stood back up. And saw a tall black wolf with golden eyes standing in front of Carina who had a look of awe on her face.

"Sit boy." The wolf said in a dark tone.

But Brandon didn't obey; he rushed at the black wolf and attempted to bite his head off. But the black wolf simply raised his fist and punched Brandon in the gut sending him flying into the wall.

Brandon slumped to the ground unconscious. Slowly his body reverted back into its normal form. When he had fully reverted the black wolf walked over to him and picked up Shane lying unconscious in his own pool of blood.

"Hey boy," The black wolf shouted at K.C. who had been watching the entire event in silence. "Help the girl pick up Brandon and let's get these two to the hospital all right."

"Y-Yes sir," K.C. said as he went to help Carina carry Brandon.

****

Brandon slowly woke up in the bed of a hospital. He looked around and saw curtains surrounding him on all sides.

"What... happened?" Brandon said.

In a quick second the curtains were pulled away revealing the bright sunlight. Brandon closed his eyes and blinked. When he was done he saw K.C. and Carina next to him.

"Brandonthatwasthescariestcoolestawesomestthingi'veeverseeninmyentirelife!" K.C. shouted.

"Huh?" Brandon asked looking confused.

"He said you're a freak and we all need to be careful not to piss you off." Brandon turned around and saw Shane in bed with bandages all around his chest.

"Shane what happened to you!? How did you--" Brandon stopped himself. It all came back to him, the entire night and everything that he did when he transformed.

"S-Shane...guys...I'm so sorry." Brandon said as he let a tear out.

The whole room fell quiet. Nobody really knew how they were going to handle this but Carina sat next to Brandon and put a paw on his shoulder.

"Brandon, it's all right," Carina said. "It wasn't your fault."

"Yeah, now shut up and listen."

Everyone turned around to see the black wolf entering the room and approaching Brandon's bed. Brandon didn't notice before but now that the wolf wasn't wearing his sunglasses he had a huge scar starting from his right ear and making a diagonal line across his face.

"W-Who are you?" Brandon managed to say. Brandon remembered that this wolf had taken him down while he was in lycan form. He didn't want to think what he could do to him in his regular form.

"Didn't I say shut up and listen? The black wolf growled. Brandon fell silent and then the black wolf spoke.

"To make a long story short, Brandon, I am your father."
