Chapter 1 The District 105

There was a small district place with a lot of people. The District was named 'District 105'. There were powerful walls that protect it. There are other districts out there. They have districts because the revelations started about 50 years ago, there are still survivors. What lies behind the walls were strange creatures which they call 'fiends'. Fiends have been around since the revelations started, they look human but they crave human flesh. Cities all over the world were torn from them, so towns are just ghost towns and became ruins. No one but the government knows what's outside the walls. Everyone there is in that district all of them are born in there. So they know nothing about the outside world. It was the beginning of winter and was snowing. It was freezing.

There was a girl named Red Angel. Red is a 13 year old girl that lives in the year 2056, she's has beautiful brown hair and pretty slim, her eye color was red. She always has a red hoodie on and light blue jeans, also wears sneakers. But she always wears that hoodie. She only lives with her mother and little brother that was 5 years old. They're father died not too long ago about a few days ago from lung cancer. Her mother was kind of messed up still but doesn't stop her from loving her kids. They live in a log cabin that was built by their father but it's still in the district. Their father was a great man that cared for his family. He died from lung cancer because he couldn't lay off the cigars. After a week after his funeral Red was doing her chores and doing laundry, trying to forget about her father's death. She got done doing laundry and went outside. "Hey, Red where are you going?" Her mother asked. "Going to see Kaitlyn." Red answered to her mother. "Okay well get back soon." Her mother said. "What time you want me to get back?" Red asked. "Somewhere around 7:00 okay? Love you." Her mother said. "Love you too mom." Red said.

So Red was just walking down the street to go see her friend. The district isn't really that pretty place like cities were 50 years ago. All there was is old buildings and some were recently built with wood and steel. Steel is hard to find though in a time like this. Her friend has a similar house like hers. They lived about 5 blocks away from each other. "Hey Red!" Kaitlyn shouted.

"Oh hey Kaitlyn." Red said. Kaitlyn has a black hair and she wears a black shirt and has a blue skirt on and red shoes with red striped with black. "What are you up to?" Red said.

"Well I'm about to go get some wood from the wood place, can you help?" Kaitlyn asked. "Sure." Red said with a smile.

They walked across the road to get to the wood place which was not too long from there and was just a couple blocks away. They kept walking as they talked. "So how is your mother doing from your father's death...?" Kaitlyn asked. "I'm guessing she's doing alright." Red said.

Red wasn't sure her mother was okay or not, her mother has been trying to stop thinking about it but she gets sick from it. A few days ago she kept thinking and thinking about it which made her throw up and made her really sick. Red tries to help around to house and keep her mother from remembering. They got to the wood place. The wood place is just an old wood shack that's all it is, so we went to pick up some logs of wood but suddenly Red hears something behind the shack growling. She looks behind her. "Something wrong Red?" Kaitlyn asked. "No just thought I... heard something but I guess it's nothing." Red answered.

They walked away from the shack to go to Kaitlyn's home. They got back and went inside to put the wood by the fireplace. There are fireplaces in every home, there isn't really any TVs because they became useless because networks are have been offline for 50 years of course. Kaitlyn's mother came in the room from her bedroom. Her mother came in the room. "Who said you can have friends over...?" Her mother said rudely. "She was just helping mom..." Kaitlyn said.

Her mother had on a dress that the skirt was up to high thighs and she had a bottle of liquor. She was an okay mother but she has been drinking ever since her father died. "Mom you need to go to bed." Kaitlyn said. "Don't you back talk to your mother!" Her mother said slapping her daughter.

A red spot is left on her cheek. "Red... you should go..." Kaitlyn said. "But..." Red said. "Just go." Kaitlin replied.

Red walked out to go back to her house. After Red left she can hear screaming come from the Kaitlyn's house. She looks down feeling really bad about but tries to ignore. Red walked in her house and her mother was cooking. "What are we having tonight?" Red said and saw her little brother Kay sitting on a sofa playing with some superhero action figure. "We are having stew." Her mother smiled.

He found that from a flea market they have in town that they find from the outside world. She sat by her brother and was looking down still thinking about Kaitlyn. "Something wrong Red?" Her mother asked. "Its Kaitlyns mother... she was drunk and slapped Kaitlyn." Red sighed.

"I don't know what's wrong with that woman..." Her mother sighed. "I wish we could do something about it." Red said. Kay smiled and poked Red with his toy and Red looked at him and she smirked and poked back. They were just both being silly.

After they ate dinner Red was tired and she wanted to go to bed. They still had school but tomorrow is Sunday, she has the room to herself and she went in and lied down, there was a window above her window that she usually looks out. She starred at the full moon outside and her eyes were getting really heavy. Suddenly she heard a growl. It sounded like the growl back from the shack. Her eyes widened and looked out the window a little bit more. She looked below and saw a strange creature. It stood on two legs but she couldn't see most of the creature. It was just standing there with red glowing eyes and starring at her. It keeps breathing heavily and it starts walking away. She closed her window tight and closed the blinds and lied back down and pulling the covers over her. She was shaking and kind of afraid but slowly went to sleep.

The next morning she woke up and heard screaming outside and ran out of the house fast. It was coming from her friend's house and she ran over there and there was an ambulance. There was dead body on a collapsible wheeled stretcher and Kaitlyn was sobbing. "Kaitlyn what happened?!" Red asked and Kaitlyn looked at her and hugged her sobbing. "My... my mom died!" Kaitlyn cried.

Red's eyes widened holding on to her best friend. "There were gashes all over her belly and her head was... not there!" Kaitlyn sobbed. Red felt really shocked and all she could do is hold friend and rub her back. Red's mom was standing there seeing them holding on to each other while Kaitlyn was sobbing. Red's Mother walked up to them. "Kaitlyn I am very sorry for your loss... but if you like to you can live with us." Red's mother said.

"No... I have to live with my aunt now, there is another district they are going to make me go and it's so far away from here." Kaitlyn explained. "How far away is it?" Red wondered. "157.6 miles away." Kaitlyn answered. Red looked down and started to get upset. "Were not going to see each other again...?" Red wondered. Kaitlyn looked at Red and hugged tight but then there was a guard holding Kaitlyn's hand. "Come on you have to come with us!" The guard told her. "Goodbye Red..." Kaitlyn cried.

So Kaitlyn walked away forcefully from her by the guard. "We have a bus waiting for you just follow me." The guard said. When a person is moving away from a district, they have these powerful buses that have barbwires that look like prison buses. They didn't know what they were holding off but everyone tries to wonder but they have a high security where they keep everyone in. "I'm never going to forget you Kaitlyn!" Red shouted as Kaitlyn went in the bus.

Suddenly they hear a huge siren going off. It was a nuke alert. Red looked at everybody and everyone was panicking. There was a speaker on pole near them. Their leader was speaking. "Everyone you're going to have to enter the buses, we have to get to the other town, and this is an emergency!" The leader shouted as the speaker crackled. "Mom what's going on!?" Red panicked. "I don't know we have to do what they say, the buses are at the end of the district!" Red's mom told her.

"I don't know, but I have to go and get Kay!" Her mother said. They both got to the house fast as they could and her mother picked up Kay and they walked out of the house and they were following the people that were heading to the buses.

The guards surrounded the citizens pushing them to the buses rushing everyone. But someone pushed Red away from her mother and the guard kept pushing her. "Mom!" Red shouted. Red was in a different bus and her mother and little brother was in another one. Red looked at the guard. "Please my mom and brother are in that other bus!" Red cried. "I'm sorry you have to stay in this bus till we get there, we will get you back to her when we get there!" The guard told her and made her sit down.

The bus driver drove through the gates out of the district. The bus was crowded with a lot of people. "What's happening?!" One person panicked. "Listen up, the place we were living isn't going to be our home no more, we are going to the next district which is really far from here!" The guard was explained.

"He must be talking about the district that Kaitlyn was talking about." Red thought. "Just calm down till we get there!" guard shouted as they got out.

When they drove out and saw these strange creatures, they didn't look human. Instead of a hand they have swords. They all had red eyes; they had spikey teeth and wore nothing but torn pants. One of them had a catapult with a fire ball in it and fired at the walls of our district and torn a wall out and entered the district. How could they have got in the walls should have been too powerful for that! They went in and Red saw guns firing but they were too weak for the creatures. The creatures were killing the guards and the people in there were getting killed by them. They got as far as they could away from the district. But not close enough to the district there going. All Red can do is look down worrying about her mother.
