Who would have thought it possible, but chance encounters aren't always once in a life time! Meeting an old friend has never felt so good.

Ah the forest, a perfect place to rest, relax and get some writing done. That was my goal at least as i wandered my way into the tall woods nearby Route 15 in Kalos. The route, which was seemingly always caught in the brilliant shades and designs of autumn, was my favorite place to go to when i needed to get away from all of the people in the world. The place was quiet, peaceful, and away from all of my life's troubles, a true Eden of a place to hide away and write. Smiling to myself in eager delight to arrive, i walked into the thicker wooded area, ducking around a few taught and pointed branches. I had a particular spot i loved to go to more then anywhere else, one where i felt so... so in tune with everything around me. As i walked further inwards, i soon arrived at said spot, a large, solitary oak tree with a massive trunk, which made a surprisingly good back rest as i wrote. I smiled yet again, utterly blissed to have finally arrived. I sat myself down underneath the behemoth tree and began to take out my things from my pack. One by one i set them down around me in a ritualistic manor. My water bottle, my notebook, my pen, my lunch for the day, everything set perfectly where i could grab it in an instant. Content with my setup, i took my notebook and pen, laid back against the trunk, and began to do what i loved most, become lost in my writing.

Of course, losing yourself as much as i do in writing isn't always a good thing. As i was scribbling away in my notebook, i failed to hear the quiet creeping of something nearby me. It was only until i reached to grab at my water and instead grabbed at fur that i took notice of said creeping creature. I froze solid in my place and shook a bit, afraid to see what it was. I gulped and dared to tilt my head up, only to be greeted with a large, angered and growling face of an Ursaring. I shook even more now seeing this, wondering what the heck i had done to make this Pokemon so livid. I never got an answer however as i had to leap out of the way as to not get smashed by its Hammer Arm. I dodged out of the way, but he persisted as he launched a Focus Blast attack at me right afterwards. I managed to avoid it, but the impending explosion caused me to crash down on the ground. The fall hurt badly, twisting up my arm and spraining it, causing me to yelp in pain and hesitate to move when i should have. This gave the angered bear another chance to attack me. He loomed over me, face twisted in anger and raised his arms. Their glowing light permeated my eyes and soul as i gazed up at the bear Pokemon. This was it, my all so sudden demise, a life ended in cold blood for no apparent reason. Tears began to fall from my eyes as i buried my head down, waiting for the attack to land and end me.

But... the attack never came. Instead, i heard a sudden pained roar from the Ursaring, followed by a few thuds, then finally the whimpering thudding of the bear running off. I was shaking now, both from the adrenaline coursing through my body from the high tension situation and the harsh crying i was doing now from both the pain in my arm and the relief of not losing my life. With all of this going on at once, i failed to notice that another large creature was above me, watching me. It didn't take me long however to hear the quiet whimpers of whatever it was. I flinched as i heard them however and refused to look at first to see what it was. I just had a near death experience with one Pokemon, and i wasn't thrilled to see another one! However... whatever this Pokemon was, it did just save me from said near death experience, so it must not wanted to have hurt me. With a sigh to try and calm my nerves, I looked up to see who my whimpering hero was. I was quickly surprised to see that my face was inches away from the quivering nose of a Mightyena, one that was looking very worried as we exchanged glances. Usually when someone encounters a Pokemon with a reputation for being a bit on the territorial and rough side, you would freak out and try to get away. But there was something different here with this Mightyena, what it was though i didn't know...

I sat myself up and groaned, clutching my head as it now hurt from being tossed around so much. Seeing this, Mightyena whimpered a bit more and began to nuzzle my cheek. I flinched out of surprise as his cold, wet nose rubbed against me, which in turn caused him to recoil away with his tail between his legs. Seeing how saddened he was by my reaction, i quickly corrected my error by putting my arms up and saying it was fine. Of course i had forgotten that my arm was sprained and hurt at this point and cried out as pain surged into it. Mightyena whimpered a bit more and went next to my arm, sniffing gently at it. Through my pained tears, i managed to tilt my head out of curiosity. Seeing this, Mightyena looked straight into my eyes, his own filled with care and worry. I was take aback slightly by this, unsure of how to take this. It was odd how so suddenly this Pokemon had shown up, both saving my life and seemingly caring about me so much for no reason at all. It was beyond my understanding at first why this was. I probed around in his eyes as we kept our focus on each other. Then, as quick as a Ninjask, it hit me. It was something in his eyes, something that brought back a memory in a quick surge all so suddenly...

It was a few years ago, on this very same route. i was exploring around Route 15, learning as much about its ecosystem as i could for a project at school. I was absolutely enthralled with it all, playing around with some young Buizel near the river, watching Foongus move along in the grass without a care, it was all so much fun to me. By this point, the sun was beginning its descent and it was almost time for me to head back home. As i collected my things to leave though, i heard the faint sound of pained whimpering from nearby. Curious and worried all at the same time, i searched out the source of this whimpering, eventually coming upon a small Poochyena pup with his paw trapped under a rock. He was crying, obviously quite hurt and unable to free himself, and once he saw me he stated to panic even more. I quickly tried and calm the little pup by taking out some cookies i had brought for myself, showing him that i meant no harm. He was unsure at first, but he did eventually calm down and accepted my offer. I smiled and, as he ate away at the cookie, i gently eased the rock off of his paw. He winced and whimpered, still quite hurt. But again i had a solution for this. i gave him another cookie to munch on as i took out some wrapping for his little paw. This time the Poochyena didn't even flinch as i wrapped up and fixed his paw. Soon enough it was all good and fixed up, which delighted him. He barked with bliss and licked happily at my hand, which made me giggle and smile wide. I got up then, and turned to leave, waving my goodbye's to the little guy. He wasn't happy to see me go and chased after me as best as he could, which made him whimper in pain. I stopped and sighed, going next to the little pup and gently pet his head. I told him that he had to stay out in the wild, which didn't make him happy at all and earned me whimpers in response. I smiled softly to him though and gently hugged him against me. He growled softly, loving the embrace. I giggled and nuzzled his head gently, telling him that we would one day meet each other again, and when we did we could be together. This made Poochyena happy and barked out of happiness. I giggled and smiled, again setting him down and waving goodbye. The little guy barked his own sort of goodbye and watched as i left back to my home...

Remembering this all at once made me realize why this Mightyena did all of this for me. This big, fully evolved Pokemon was once the Poochyena that i had saved. Seeing the realization coming onto my face, Mightyena barked happily, pouncing on me just right as to avoid hurting me and began licking gently at my face. I giggled and laughed, squirming underneath his weight as he licked at me. Mightyena was over come in happiness and continued his licking assault for what seemed like hours to me, hours that were the best spent ones in my life. It was almost unbelievable to me that this Pokemon was the one i had saved all those years ago, and that he had remember who i was for so long. I smiled softer, realizing that while ages may change, promises and acts of kindness stay the same....

Eventually Mightyena did get off of me, sitting on his haunches and panting eagerly with his wagging tail in time. I giggled a bit and sat up smiling, though stopped once i was hit with another wave of pain. Mightyena frowned, huffing a bit in a manor as if asking i was okay. I looked back at him and shook my head, explaining that my arm was hurt from the attack. He growled a bit, obviously angry at the Ursaring. I smiled at him the best i could through my pain, telling him its over now and that there was nothing to worry over. He huffed again, not entire assured of this, but sighed and nodded. As he did, he got up and went to my side, right next to my shoulder and sniffed at it again. I titled my head yet again, wondering what he could possibly be doing this time. He smiled a bit at me seeing my curiosity and nuzzled my cheek with his nose, a bit of deja vu hitting me as he did. This time though, i didn't flinch and instead smiled, loving the feeling of his cold damp nose against my warm cheek. He smiled more, his smile a bit lopsided, and panted happily, delighted to see me calm and happy. I laughed a bit as his dopey expression and pat his head gently with my good arm, earning me some growls of delight. But just as soon as i had started to pet him, he nudged my hand away. I was confused as to why he did this, but a glance from Mightyena told me why he did it. I didn't know what he was trying to tell me exactly, but i could tell he was trying to tell me to relax now and to trust him. I didn't know why he was telling me this, nor did i get why i could so easily gasp what he was saying, but since he had done so much for me already, i thought it right to do as he asked. I smiled and sighed, letting my body relaxed itself. Mightyena nodded at this and growled quietly, a growl telling me to brace myself. I looked at him, a bit worried and confused, but that didn't faze him as he suddenly bit down on my injured arm. I yelped out in pain, both physical and emotional from this sudden betrayal of trust.

But even before my tears could fall, i felt my arms pain begin to disappear. Even more confused as to why this was happening, i glanced over at Mightyena to see what was happening. As i did, i saw that where his sharp fangs met my skin, there was a faint glow that covered my entire arm. I was surprised and mesmerized by this glow, and even more surprised to feel that my arms pain was almost gone now. In just a few moments, all of it was gone completely! Seeing my confusion mixed with relief, Mightyena smiled and took his jaw off of my arm, somehow leaving no bite marks at all. I stared at my arm and gently rubbed it with my other hand, feeling that it was completely fixed, no pain at all. My stare drifted up to Mightyena, my mouth hanging open and me stuttering. He smiled more and nuzzled my cheek, his soft growling telling me that it was a debt that needed to be repaid after so long. I gazed at him with emotions high within me, curiosity as to how he got this power, relief to be free of pain, but the strongest of all was love. Not love like between couples, no. this love was the kind that you could only feel towards a true friend, someone you could trust your life with. This love i felt wracked my entire being now, and i began to cry happily and i tightly wrapped my arms around Mightyena, pulling the large dog Pokemon atop me as i feel onto the ground beneath me. He yelped, a bit startled at first, but quickly realized what was happening and smiled softly, nuzzling against me and growling in quiet delight. I smiled at him, still crying, and nuzzled him in return, thanking him for all that he had done for me. He nodded, again growling to tell me that it was a debt to a friend that had to have been repaid. I smiled as bit softer an sniffed, wiping my eyes and telling him that he had paid the debt ten times over. This made him howl out in excitement, which in turn made me laugh, thrilled to see him as excited as he was.

Once he had finished howling and i had stopped crying,m and after he insisted cleaning off my face with his tongue which led to some playful struggles and laughs, i got up to stretch myself out. Mightyena sat down on his haunches, his tail wagging and his tongue hanging out as he watched me stretch. i smiled at him once i finished and scratched right behind his ears, making him growl his signature pleasured growl. I giggled a bit and smiled, sighing and looking up at the sky. It was late now, and much too dark to go home at this point. I had no where to be at least , but that didn't help that i had no place at all to sleep. Seeing my obvious worry, Mightyena nipped at my hand to get my attention. I looked down at him, asking what was up. Instead of answering, he simply smiled and began to trod off deeper into the woods. I was confused as to what his intentions where, but i simply smiled and followed after him, now knowing it was best just to listen to and follow his actions without asking much.

We walked for a few minutes as the sky gradually darkened around us, but i didn't mind. With Mightyena by my side, i had nothing to worry about, even in the darkness of the wilderness. Soon enough though we stopped suddenly in front of what appeared to be an abandoned cabin. I was confused as to why we had come here when it suddenly dawned on me. This old cabin must have been Mightyena's home, and he brought me here to sleep with him. I smiled and kneeled next to him, hugging my friend tightly and thanking him. He huffed, a bit surprised, and blushed, smiling still regardless and told me it was nothing. I laughed a bit and let go, calling him a silly pup as we approached the cabin. I opened the door and let him go in first, and i promptly followed. Taking my shoes off, i quickly saw the cabin wasn't overly bright at this moment, but i could still make out that it had a few rooms in it. A bathroom, a kitchen, a small dining room, and a main living room. Mightyena went into there, and i followed him again. The room was surprising spacious despite the cabins seemingly small size. I smiled a bit and looked around it, finding that there really wasn't much in the room, that being the reason that there was as much space as there was. There was a couch covered in a plastic tarp back against a wall, and a table sat next to it. A pile of wood rested against fireplace in the center of the room, and a large mattress was laid in front of it. I assumed was Mightyena's bed as it had a somewhat dirty sheet atop it, but despite that the bed looked well kept regardless. I giggled a bit, jokingly asking him how he kept it so clean. He turned back at me and smirked, growling in response that not all Pokemon are filthy brutes. That got me to laugh as well as him, both of us in high spirits.

As we finished our chuckles, Mightyena nodded at the wood, then at the fireplace. I took this to mean that he was asking me to setup a fire for us both. I nodded, smiling, and began to set wood in the brick structure. When i finished, i saw how poor i had set it up design wise, but it worked for what we needed. Mightyena came up next to me and smiled, suddenly breathing a quick flame with an Incinerate attack and igniting the fire. I giggled, telling him how full of surprises he was. He barked and and nodded, his tail wagging again. I giggled more and sat down on the mattress, with Mightyena promptly following suit. He laid himself down on his bed and stretched himself out, making a few odd noises that i assumed meant he was tired. I smiled a bit and laid down next to him, setting my arms around his chest in a snuggling fashion. he smiled as well and licked my hand gently, making me giggle and smile more. He continued his gentle licks for a bit before yawning, which made me yawn just moments after. I laughed a bit, rubbing my face and mentioning how tired today had made me. Mightyena nodded in agreement, laying his head down and shutting his eyes. i set my head next to his and nuzzled the top of his head. Mightyena sighed softly and growled ever so quietly in delight. I smiled a bit before yawning again and shutting my eyes as well, soon drifting into sleep as Mightyena had done. Both of us where completely snuggled together and content now, happy to have been reunited with each other as we slept intertwined throughout the night.
