Husky In A Wolf Pack August 7 2011, 10:17 PM

By: R4wrTiger

Prologue

It was a sunny day at the end of summer; a pure bred white Husky has given birth to a beautiful puppy. The mother's name was Aveline, her mate and love, Walter. It was a great day for the dogs, even the pet owners. They live in a big house outside of the city near Franc's peak at Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. No better place to raise a pup than the beautiful forests of Wyoming.

The owners of the dogs were taking a trip to Banff National Forest in Alberta; it's next door to Jasper National Park. The two humans got into their vehicle, an old run down 75' Dodge Ram, and left, after they shared their good-byes with the dogs of course. Their neighbour promised to keep an eye on them while they were gone. It will be quite a while before they return.

It is Christmas day. The lands were covered in snow and the pup has grown to a pre-teen. He is a White Husky; takes his looks from his mother and his attitude and behaviour from his father. The father of the pup had died in late fall. T'was a month since that, and Aveline and her child have put it behind them remembering that is a part of life and that someday it will happen to them too.

The pup's name is Jeff, he is kind and a bit foolhardy, but in an immature way. A hyper and playful pup with a weakness for words.

"Jeff!" Aveline called out several times without getting a response.

Finally Jeff came after having a pleasant time in the deep snow. So he came forth and asked, "Yes, mother?"

"It's getting late son. Finish up your supper and we will head to bed." She calmly said to her lovely son.

After a few minutes of munching. They both went to bed. Jeff always takes hours to fully get to sleep though. This time, it was taking him a little too long. He got up and convinced himself that he needed water. With no water around in the winter, Jeff wanted to find some clean, untouched snow to eat. His playing dirtied all the snow around, so he was taking a chance and left the yard of his owners to find some clean snow. Being out of the yard he found a lot of clean snow. He picked up the snow and let it melt in his mouth before swallowing.

It was late and the moon was shining like the sun, bright and beautiful. With instant courage he had found, Jeff thought it would be fun to go further out in to the wilderness. Being as young as he is, Jeff was unaware of the dangers in a forest. He pressed on forward with a small smile on his face, hoping to find something fascinating, after a while he did.

Jeff looked out over a steep cliff and found something extraordinary. He had never seen so much land before. He had to investigate, but there was no way down. He walked right up to the edge and looked down. It was far and there would be no way up. Jeff was disappointed but there was nothing that he could do.

He moved his paw to a different position; it landed on ice. Jeff slipped and yelped as he was going over the edge. He was whimpering of fear and couldn't pull himself up, but he held.

"Mom!" Jeff screamed out repeatedly.

There was no response. Jeff feared for his life but his arms gave out and he fell.

Screaming in terror as he fell. He had reached the bottom and there was a silence. Jeff was unconscious as he lay in the snow.

Yawns! Aveline had gotten up to check on her son that is supposed to being lying beside her. She seen nothing but softened out snow. Aveline stood up and panicked.

"Jeff! Where are you? "Aveline stood silent and hoped for an answer.

She looked down to see foot prints leading to the forest. Aveline cried out, "Oh, no!", and bolted off in Jeff's direction. Aveline had made it to the cliff-side and that's where the foot prints ended.

"Jeff!" She called out certain that her boy was near.

Aveline sat down and waited, not giving up. She was a strong mother.

Morning arrived and Aveline was laying at the cliff-side, sleeping. Early dawn and beautiful skies with birds singing. Non-typical morning and a sound of yawns came from someone at the bottom of the cliff. It was Jeff!

Chapter 1

Not only yawning but whimpering over the pain he had just gone through. It was quiet. Trees were blocking the view of the rising sun. Jeff saw an opening further ahead; it was a field of snow being looked over upon the sun. Jeff rushed out to the beautiful meadow.

"Wow. Where am I?" Jeff asked himself. He obviously didn't know where he was.

He finally got concerned about his mother. 'She has got to be worried sick'.

There was no way up the way he came, so the only to find a way back was to go forward. He kind of liked the idea, though he was still young, too young to deal with danger.

Jeff pressed forward until he reached the end of the snowy meadow which will be grassy in a few months. While he was sitting there, tying to seek a safe path, he heard someone moving slowly through the plains. He looked back to see a fox following him.

"Hmm..." The fox walked up and inspected the husky. Jeff said nothing. The fox was a female.

"Aren't you a little young too be wandering all alone?" She asked Jeff pointedly. Jeff still had nothing to say. He stood his ground, being his fool-hardy self.

"A wolf should be with his pack, wouldn't you agree? There aren't any packs out here in this territory." The fox pointed out.

"I am not a wolf. I am a husky." Jeff corrected to pretty fox.

"You're far from home then. I suggest you go back before something bad happens." The fox warned.

"I'm trying. There's no way to get back." Jeff confirmed.

"By looking and listening to you I can tell you still are a young child." The fox noted. "My name is Daniele and I am a fox. Who are you?" Daniele tried to get formal.

"Sighs... My name is Jeff." Jeff said.

Jeff put his head down and realised that this isn't fun and games anymore. He had to fend for himself till he found his route back home. He knew that it wouldn't be easy. He did think to himself that this adventure could make him stronger and wise and less fool-hardy and immature.

The clever fox decided to strike a deal. "Tell you what kid; if I help you survive, will you help me with food, I am very low on it?"

"You mean... hunt?" Jeff wondered.

"Yes. Once you're older of course. You can hunt small animals though, like mice and hares." Daniele tried to convince him.

"I guess." Jeff agreed.

"Excellent. Let's stay out in the meadow for today." She insisted.

Jeff had to keep his end of the bargain. Even though dogs don't hunt regularly, he had to try. He is far from the skills of a wolf but he is still young. Once he grows up he should be able to hunt larger animals like the typical wolf meal... an Elk.

Daniele was going to teach him about the different animals; which ones to avoid and which ones to hunt.

To avoid: Coyotes, bears, Bull Elk, Cougar, and maybe wolves, but not entirely certain Daniele claims.

To hunt: Cattle, Cow Elk, young Caribou until a trained and skilled hunter and maybe White-Tail Does.

Over the past month, Jeff has learnt how to navigate to detect and to mark territory for protective reasons. Jeff has had many successful hunts catching mice and hares. Once he is older, Daniele is planning to take it to the next level. Daniele was sort of mothering Jeff. He has been making her proud. Soon enough for the more epic hunts she will have decided to move her and Jeff to a more populated area for more hunting opportunities.

It has been little over a month since Jeff got separated from his mother. Since that time, he has made no effort to return; he has been focusing more on keeping him and Daniele alive. A worthy goal.

At this time, the humans that took the trip to Alberta have returned. They are devastated to see that their puppy has disappeared. Aveline is still taking it hard. Since the cold bright night of Jeff's disappearance she has been nothing short of depressed. There was nothing that she could do about it. She was an old dog, reaching her final breaths. It will be a release that Jeff will be sure to take hard.

It is now two months since Jeff left home, he is growing up, and he is currently at half size. A few more months and he will be grown. At this time it was time to leave the simple home of the fox and the husky. They were moving on to the forest valley, which is home to a herd of caribou.

They talked little on their trip, it took a long three days to reach they're destination.

"Welcome to your new home." Daniele stated. "Listen, Jeff. I have to tell you something."

"What is it, Dani?" Jeff asked.

"Soon, you will be reaching adulthood, and when that time comes, it will be time for me to go. You won't need me anymore." She informed Jeff.

"Why?" Jeff really didn't want her to go.

"You have been a good friend despite your age. Dogs like you gain pack mentality. You are turning into a wolf. Soon, you be considered a 'dispersal'. Once I leave, you need to find a mate or a pack that will accept you. You can't be living rouge forever." Daniele tried to persuade Jeff.

"I still don't understand why you have to leave." Jeff kept going.

"I have taught you everything you need to know about surviving. What I promised to do for you. In exchange you have kept me alive with your hunting. Our deal has almost expired. That is why I have to leave, you don't need me anymore." Daniele explained.

"I do need you. I can use a friend." Jeff tried to convince the fox.

"... You're turning into a wolf! Wolf kill foxes! Like I said, you are gaining pack mentality. Once it has fully gotten to you, I will be seen as a chew toy." She menaced.

Jeff started getting scared of himself. He didn't want that to happen to him. So he tried to assure Daniele, "I won't hurt you."

"Stay away from me! I can see it inside you. Hunt, that's all I want you to do!" She turned away from Jeff.

Jeff was still too young to understand. He fulfilled her wishes and proceeded with the hunt. He needs to leave his personal emotions behind him. So he did and he kept his mind on the hunt.

Jeff's first caribou hunt. A caribou in sight!

Chapter 2

Jeff was slowly creeping his way towards the caribou who was eating the branches off bushes, considering it was still winter, that was all that was left. Jeff was moving closer, he was at pouncing distance, but he still ventured closer. He stole his moment and leaped for the caribou's leg. He grabbed on and held on as the caribou sprinted with Jeff dangling on. After a minute of pain, the caribou has collapsed and Jeff gnawed at the body. Taking it apart, the caribou was still alive, but had given up knowing he wouldn't have a chance.

Daniele walked up and saw what seemed to be a successful hunt. She joined in and started eating. Jeff was still feeling a little down knowing that he was turning. He didn't want to evolve into a wolf. His mother had told him of the stories of the dread wolf. Wolves are stronger than dogs in every way but still have the same benefits, just better.

Jeff stopped in the middle of the feast and started thinking what he would do after Daniele had left. He has to fit in with wolves or fend for himself which could be very dangerous both ways.

Daniele had stopped too and wondered what Jeff was thinking because it was obvious he was focused on his mind.

"What are thinking about?" Daniele asked straight up.

"About what I'm going to do." Jeff answered.

Daniele moved to the other side of the caribou and sat beside Jeff.

"You are strong and caring. You have been feeding me for the past two months. You are a leader and I can picture you having a place amongst the wolves. It is your best chance, so please join them."

Jeff didn't know if she was right. If she was right, Jeff would be a wild animal. He never much thought about his mother anymore. Jeff decided that Daniele was right; it is his best interest to join a wolf pack. The more he thought about it, the more he got excited, this could be his chance to find out whether wolves are as bad as others say or if they are wrong. He agreed to Daniele's terms.

"Where is the nearest wolf pack?" Jeff asked with a surprising look on Daniele's face.

She made a smile and told him, "Just a little south towards those mountains."

"Great. I want to go now?" Jeff decided.

"Are you sure? If you are, this is where we part ways." She pointed out.

"I am sure. Thank-you for everything, Daniele. You have been a very good friend. I hope to see you when I am grown up." Jeff went on.

"I would be wise if you do not seek me out. Good-bye, Jeff." She turned and left.

"Bye... Daniele." Jeff finished with a sadness to bare.

He kept strong and went in the direction that the wolf pack was located. He wanted to keep his word about seeking Daniele out in the future. She did sound very serious when said to not look for her though. He didn't care; she was a friend that he had to see again.

Jeff was walking along the trail. The sun had just set behind the mountains and it was starting to get dark. He had made it about half way and decided to rest until morning. He was searching for a warm spot, in the winter that's nearly impossible, but it would soon be spring. Jeff never knew of the seasons for he had mostly lived through the winter. He has seen ground without snow once and he is eager to see it again.

Jeff made a cozy little spot for him to sleep in. He was so excited to meet the wolves, let's hope they are what he expects.

Dreams... Jeff was running around playing in the leaves of late fall, having a fun time frolicking himself, he had quite an imagination. Across the road he saw horses being fed by the owners. That reminded him; it was time for him to eat so he rushed to the house and scratched on the door. There was no response, he kept on doing it then he gave up. He ran around to the front and looked through the window and saw nothing. Where were the humans?

"Mom!" Jeff called out to his mother. No response again. Everything was getting a little scary for little Jeff. He left the yard and ran up a slope surface and kept running till he reached a cliff. Jeff looked down to see his mother, Aveline on the bottom unconscious.

"No! Mother!" He called out hoping for a sign of life. It was empty. He collapsed over his high sadness emotions and lied with his paw over his face crying over the loss of his mother.

What would he do now? His owners were nowhere to be found and he was all alone. He gave up and walked back home to see Daniele sitting in the place that he and his mother usually slept at night.

"You should have known this was going to happen. Everything gets taken away at the perfect time" Daniele said smugly and uncaring for what Jeff was going through.

"You are growing up, eh? So you lost your mother, so have we all, you have to grow up and join the rest of the world or be a fool and sit there to grieve. You're your own person so make your mind. Bye again. Hahaha! What a good day!" Daniele yelled out joyfully.

Jeff didn't let his feelings get to him and listened to Daniele, she seemed to be right about everything. He followed her into the deep dark woods and lost himself, like he had before. Everything was so weird for him. He lost Daniele and found himself lost and alone. He lay down and drifted off to a heavy sleep.

Awake... Jeff had woken up and thought to himself 'what a bad dream'. He didn't contemplate it and went on to find the wolf pack.

Chapter 3

It took Jeff half the day after he woke up to get to the mountains. They were so beautiful. He has only seen one: Franc's peak. This was a sight to remember. After a while of viewing and admiring he moved on and searched for the wolf pack. He caught a scent the further he went. This was a scent he never breathed in before but he was certain it as the wolf pack.

He took a left and the scent got stronger but on his way to the unidentified scent he caught himself in the path of three caribou, very large and muscular by the looks of it.

Jeff thought to himself, "This isn't no time to hunt! Run!" Jeff charged but he was cornered, there was nowhere to jump out of the way. He was running for his life hoping that there would be an opening that he could leap into, but he saw nothing, he took his chances and in to a laying position on the ground. Staying still with his eyes closed the three caribou leaped over him but the last kicked Jeff in the torso with great force breaking two ribs and cutting him with the sharp hooves.

After the catastrophe, Jeff whimpered after taking an extreme hit that if it was any worse, it could have killed him. He tried to get up but couldn't. He was bleeding but not hard. If only Daniele was there, she could take care of it. Jeff knew he broke something and he needed attention. He was about to pass out then an animal came to him, it was a wolf. After identifying the animal he passed out.

"Grab him. He's in bad shape." One of the four wolves ordered.

Two of them picked Jeff up and placed him on their backs and carried them to the pack territory.

Once they got to the pack territory, they went immediately to the Alpha couple's den. The den was a large thicket, neatly made.

"Mom, dad." The female wolf called out to her parents.

"What is it, dear?" The Alpha female asked her daughter.

"We found this white coyote or wolf, I don't know. I can't identify him, but he got trampled by caribou. He looks greatly injured. Can you take a look at him?" She requested.

"Put him down." She demanded the two. "It doesn't look or smell like a coyote, nor wolf. I don't know what he is, but he will survive his severe injuries. Watch him and keep him in the den." She suggested her daughter and left for one of her personal reasons.

The female sat down and examined the dog of which she has never heard of. One thing is right... This thing spoiled her hunt. She wasn't about to let that get to her, especially after what she seen.

There was a dark figure hiding in the bushes investigating the situation quietly. The dark figure was observing the injured wolf and female watching him. After a few seconds the figure left quietly so no one would notice.

An hour and still nothing from Jeff. The female was lying beside him nearly asleep praying that he would wake up to be sure if he was fine. The female's parents got home and asked of his condition.

"He is still sleeping and still breathing. He is tough to survive this at such a young age." She updated. She could notice the youth in him. It was obvious he was young.

After her statement, Jeff moved and coughed. "Where... Where am I?" He could barely speak but made out the words.

"You're in the Shivain wolf pack territory of Shoshone forest." The female teen answered.

"Who are you? Why am I here?" Jeff started to get clearer.

"Hush. We are treating you of your wounds. Don't try to get up." The female Alpha encouraged.

"Wait... A wolf pack you say? I've been looking for you." Jeff confused to wolves.

"Can you first tell us who and what you are?" The young female asked intrigued.

"My name is Jeff. And I am a Canine Husky. I came from Franc's peak not too far from here." Jeff explained to the wolves.

"I have never heard of the husky." The young female said clearly very confused.

"We are like wolves, just different. May I ask of your names?" Jeff now wondered.

The male Alpha came up to say this, "I am Jed, the Leader of the Shivain pack. This is my mate, Kate. And here is my daughter Amy. My son, Austin is at the river. Amy is destined to be the next leader of the pack if she can find a suitable mate."

"You said something about looking for us. Why?" Kate demandedly asked?

"I want to join your pack. I can prove I am good enough. I can hunt." Jeff tried to convince the tough Alphas.

"You just nearly died in a hunt and ruined mine!" Amy yelled.

"I wasn't hunting. I accidently ran out there and alarmed them. And I'm sorry about your hunt." Jeff pointed out and confessed.

"Hey, Amy. Who's this?" Some wolf walked by and asked.

"Hey, Archie. This is Jeff. He got injured by caribou." Amy told Archie.

Archie was Amy's best friend and probably going to be boyfriend. He was a nice, caring and intimate guy when given the chance. Amy herself was too.

"I'm going to hang out with Archie. See ya'." Amy said and left.

"I think I have a few broken ribs." Jeff advised.

"You will heal in time, but I suggest you stay at the den. It will be a few days before you recover from your pain. Weeks to recover from your broken parts." Kate informed.

"To go back to your question. Yes, you can join the pack. Prove yourself useful. I assign you as the new pack Omega." Jed gave his rank and left for Alpha duties.

Jeff knew what an Omega was. He heard the stories his mother told him about Alphas and Omegas. How the Alpha is the decision maker and the Omega is the scape-goat. He was hoping that he could find a mate before he goes crazy. He was considering Amy until he found she was supposedly with Archie. He will look around once he recovered. He was turning into a wolf, just as Daniele claimed. He didn't know if he should be proud or ashamed, so he lied quietly in the hard snow that was melting fast due to the warm days in Wyoming. He made a thought about his mother. He hasn't seen her in a few months now. He wanted to know if he should go back after he has grown up of course. Aveline was four years younger than Walter a pure white husky who always wore a red bandanna around her neck. She had told him stories about her life:

Aveline first lived in the city of Casper hundreds of kilometers from Shoshone National Forest where she lives now. Her puppy life was at a shelter being cared for by humans. A few months into her life she got separated from her mother and got taken by two humans. They drove her to what they called 'her new home'. That was at Franc's peak. The humans had already owned a dog called Walter. Once she got into adulthood, Walter was six years old but he was still hot. Aveline couldn't resist him. She wanted him so they mated. They really loved each other. They cuddled every night and with each passing day they talked about having pups. The more they talked the more it urged them to do it, so they did. They wanted a family so they created one and that's when Jeff came into the picture.

Walter's life was productive; he was also a white husky with a hint of grey. He came from Canada but two weeks in his life the humans decided to move to China. To the big city of Nice. A lot goes on in Asian countries so Nice was very busy. Walter's owners were very uncaring and let him run around through Nice. It was so easy to get lost. One day when Walter was adventuring through a market district a human grabbed him and drug him into the kitchen of a Busy Bistro. It is common to cook and eat dogs in China. Walter had no idea until he saw the carcass of another dog in the corner. He panicked and charged at the nearest exit. He had to get out of there. Jeff had no idea how he got to America. His mother never told him.

When Jeff was finished thinking about his family, a female wolf he hadn't seen before was approaching. She seemed nice.

Chapter 4

Jeff smiled as the female was approaching. "H--Hey." He barely managed.

"Hi. I hear your name is Jeff." The female came out straight forward.

"I am Jeff. And you are..." Jeff let her finish the statement.

"I am Jennifer. It is nice to meet you. I was told you got trampled by caribou. It explains all the blood." Jennifer giggled at the sentence. "You know, not many wolves survive caribou. You are the first who survived in our pack." She continued.

"Yeah, but with great injuries." He urged in pain.

"How old are you?" She asked with a funny smirk.

"I am eight months old." Jeff answered.

"So am I. You are the only one here my age." She said relieved.

"Is there a reason you wanted to know my age?" Jeff wondered where she was going with this.

There was a moment of silence then finally Jennifer replied, "No reason. Just wanted to know."

Jeff wasn't stupid. He wouldn't be fooled that easy. "Hey. Maybe when I can walk and get cleaned up... We should-- go on a date." Jeff was praying that this wouldn't be his first rejection.

"I would like that." Jennifer confirmed. She turned away and left with a smile on her face. She also didn't know that he was white because of all the blood.

"Way to go, Jeff! Nailed it!" He partied in his head. He was having a little moment of pride. He's got a date with a hot girl.

Back at the humans house Aveline was always lonely. The horse from next door walked up to the fence and called out her name. "Aveline!" the horse called out.

"Hey, Pierre." Aveline answered quietly.

"You can't still be depressed over your son. He is strong. If he is still alive he will find his way back home. No point dwelling on the past. You need to look to the future. Depression hurts everyone and it is starting to get to me. I hate seeing you like this." Pierre tried to cheer Aveline up.

"It has been three months. He would have found his way home by now." Aveline kept on babbling.

"Just please cheer up." The horse turned away hoping that Aveline would listen.

They both turned their own ways to do their own things.

Three days later, Jeff was able to walk again. He went straight to the lake to get cleaned up. Nothing smells worse than old blood.

While Jeff was washing up Jennifer thought it would be amusing to sit there and watch her hot boyfriend wash up. He never noticed her till he was done and still in the water.

"Were you watching me?" Jeff asked shocked and embarrassed.

"Yes I was, hottie." She jumped into the lake and joined Jeff as they started frolicking and splashing water at each other.

The dark figure that was watching Jeff when he was first injured returned and observed as he and Jennifer were playing in the water. The dark figure was always in the darkest of shadows. Once Jeff and Jennifer were finished fooling around the dark figure left again.

They got out of the water and Jennifer immediately noticed something. "I didn't know you were white!"

"You probably couldn't see it before because of all the blood." He offered.

"Yeah. So... where do you want to meet tonight?" She asked intriguingly.

"Um... How about that mountain?" He requested.

"Sounds good. I'll meet you there." She said tauntingly.

Jeff couldn't resist her. He thought to himself, 'sexy', but he resurrected himself. "Not yet there."

Jeff walked out to the field where he witnessed Amy and Archie hunt. They were magnificent. He wished he could hunt like that. When the caribou was down the two started feasting. He thought that he should go out there and eat too.

When Jeff got close to the kill Archie struck out and attacked him, pinning Jeff to the ground. His body language let him know that he was not welcome at the time. Jeff wasn't a wolf so he didn't understand the language. After saying nothing, he made an attempt again being more cautious. This time Amy leaped at him biting him on the muzzle and said. "Listen to the rules. Omegas are last to eat." She went back to eating. Jeff waited. He now wanted to learn the pack law. He knew he was going to hate being an Omega.

During the moment that Jeff was attacked, the dark figure was again spying on the husky. A stalkish animal. The figure never made an appearance so others would notice; it was a creature of stealth.

Knowing that there were more surprises awaiting Jeff, he wanted to go the pack Alpha to find out all of the pack rules just to be safe. He didn't want to regret joining the pack but he just might.

He reached the Alpha's den and asked Jed the questions he had.

"Sir, can you tell me the 'Omega' pack law?" Jeff wanted to know.

"I guess you should know that considering you are not a wolf. They are very simple. You will have to submit to the Alpha's attacks if they ever attack you. If you don't, it will be taken in as a challenge, which is a fight to the death most of the time. Omegas always have to eat last and whatever is left. Omegas can also disperse whenever they want to. There is not really anything else. If you follow those rules, you will be respected." Jed answered the question with a warning too.

"Thank-you, sir." Jeff backed away and left knowing that this was going to be a tough life. He also thought that Daniele might have just screwed him over and fed him to the wolves. Jeff didn't know what to think.

"Follow the rules, eh'? What stupid rules. Why did I have to be the Omega? I'm not even a wolf! This might just be my living hell. Jennifer is the only light of my day. Hopefully this date will make up the two attacks I received." Jeff was talking to himself and was disappointed. This wasn't what he wanted, but he can't just leave. He will have to hold in for now, perhaps it won't be so bad if he could find the good in it all.

First thing is first: He has to groom himself for his first date. He ran back to the lake and jumped in to clean himself... again. After he got out he shacked until dry. He used his paws to fix up his mane-- it worked well. He was a sharp-looking' little white husky going on a date with a brown wolf.

He was ready. Jeff started his walk to the mountain-side. He was kind of worried. A wolf-date could be different from a dog's. Once he reached the top, he waited for his lovely girlfriend to arrive. After a few minutes of waiting she appeared on the path coming his way. He smiled and sat still as she was coming looking better than ever.

She was really good at looking' good.

"Wow." Jeff said in awe. "You're beautiful. I never saw anyone look so good."

"Thank-you. You are looking good yourself." Jennifer replied with a compliment.

"Why don't you tell me about yourself? I'm fascinated to hear about your life." He started the date off.

"That sounds fair. Sure, I'll tell you." Jennifer agreed and started telling.

Chapter 5

"I was actually born right here in this pack. I have lived here my whole life and I am planning on leaving to start my own pack. That's if I can find a suitable boy who wants to mate with me." Jeff immediately interrupted.

"Would you consider me?" Jeff asked straight up giving Jennifer a smile.

"Sure. It would be quite interesting mating with a Husky, especially one I really like." Jennifer flattered Jeff.

"I can't wait." He assured.

"Hold on there. We are still very young. Having pups at this age would be insane." She slowed Jeff down.

"Ha! You are right. So why don't you tell me more about your life?" Jeff was growing curious.

"All right." She agreed. "My parents were both dispersal wolves; they have met and started to like each other. After a while they went on a date like us, and at the end of the date they a romantic howl. I have only howled in pack get-together's, but never in a date." Jennifer started to lose herself thinking about how much she wanted to howl with a boy.

Jeff was starting to get scared too. He had never howled before, he wasn't a wolf. But he gained a confidence and wanted to howl too, he only hoped that he was good. But he couldn't howl just yet. He wanted to tell Jennifer about his life.

"So-- you want to hear about my life?" Jeff insisted.

"Huh? Yeah, okay." She sat down and listened.

"I was born at Franc's peak not too far from here. My mother is a pure-bred white husky like me. My father was grey, he died four months ago, but don't feel sorry. It happens. I found myself being stupid one cold winter night and left my mother's side to get a drink or snow and I ventured too far, but it was beautiful. I slipped over a steep cliff and I fell to the bottom, luckily it was winter, the snow spared me. I found a fox named Daniele who took me in, and kept me alive in exchange for food, which I provided, two months later we separated and I came here at a cost of a few broken ribs and loss of blood, but having met you, it was all worth it." He finished and walked shortly to the top of the mountain. Having confused Jennifer, he sat and looked up and started howling.

He was so good for a young boy. Jennifer was drawn in and walked up in front of him and joined in the song. It was a beautiful sound, they were both enjoying it.

At the bottom of the path in the shadows of the trees, the dark figure was watching to two howling a romantic duet. The figure left once the two stopped and left into the further darkness of the wilderness.

"That was great." Jennifer moved closer and rubbed her head alongside Jeff's. She finished off with, "I love you."

Jeff also said the three words to have her hair bounce up with shivers. Jeff had found his love. A beautiful brown wolf with sunset eyes and a sense of love. Jeff was going to fulfill her dreams, he had wanted to. But for now, he wanted to enjoy the puppy love.

After all the cuddling and comfort, Jennifer had ended the date, "I think it's about time I went home. I'll see you tomorrow." She left sounding disappointed that the best night of her life was over.

He left too. He knew he wasn't allowed back into the Alpha den so he made a comfy space in the corner of the hills and called it his home. After he was finished he lied down and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Morning arrived; the sun slowly rising above the mountains, birds singing, and yawning from neighbours. It was a warm morning. The snow was nearly gone, spring is here! Half of the pack had risen from sleep. Jeff was still sleeping, dreaming about the future. The Alphas were the first to get up so they can get to their active duty.

"Yawns!" Came from a sleepy voice. It was Jeff. He had just gotten up. He sat down and viewed the territory. He had no jobs, so he was bored. The only good times he had been when he was with Jennifer, who is still sleeping. She was a middle class wolf. Jeff had no idea if they mated.

Wolf custom: If howling on a romantic date, the howl is the start of the mating ritual.

Jeff had no idea. He was going to have to ask Jennifer. For an Omega, Jeff had patience, because he is not a wolf. Most Omegas are alert around the Alphas and like to initiate play. Jeff was not really either. One of Jeff`s most worries, was to submit to an Alpha in front of Jennifer, he never wanted that to happen, so Jeff will keep a distance from all Alphas when with Jennifer.

Jennifer had woken up. Her den is on the other side of the territory near the Alpha den. She immediately ran for Jeff. He was relieved to see a friendly face-- now the question.

"Good morning, Jeff!" Jennifer said joyfully.

"Hey. I have to ask you something. Last night... when we howled. Did we mate?" Jeff asked sounding nervous.

"Why? Do you not want to be mates?" She asked hoping that he wanted to mate.

"It's not that I don't want to mate with you. Aren't we too young?" He wondered.

"We'll just say we're going out. Hehe." She chuckled.

"Heh. Okay then. Want to go on another date sometime? Perhaps tomorrow?" He asked again.

"Yes. But I do want to hang out with you." She insisted.

"Sighs... All right." He agreed.

They were walking to the edge of the territory on the quiet, bright morning. Jennifer was taking Jeff to the dominant Alpha match, of which Jeff had never heard of.

When they had arrived at the place, Jeff was alert for Alphas who walk near him. He knew he had to tread carefully. The last thing he wanted was to be embarrassed in front of his girlfriend.

"Sit here, Jeff. Let's watch the fights." She again insisted.

Jeff had never known she was interested in such activities. He sat there and watched the impressive Alphas battle it out. There was a lot of blood on the ground.

Archie was on the 'stage', waiting to be challenged. He was three months older than Jeff.

"He-hey, Jeff! Come up here!" Let's see what a Husky can do." He pointed Jeff out.

Jeff tried to make an excuse. "I don't think so. I'm an Omega."

"Do it, Jeff." Jennifer encouraged.

It would do a lot more than encouraging getting Jeff to fight, but he didn't want to look like a coward.

"Fine. I'll do it." He hardly agreed.

"Go easy on him, Archie. He's still young." Amy told Archie.

They both got into an engaging stance. Walking in circles, waiting for a moment of weakness. Being young, Jeff was still foolhardy, so he made the first move. He pounced at Archie and grabbed his leg and bit with excessive force.

Archie clawed at Jeff's face with his other paw, giving Jeff two scars going across his face with little bleeding. The bites on Archie's leg made him limp and bleed heavily.

The fight wasn't over, Archie bit at Jeff's back and pinned him down to the ground, hitting him without pause. There was an interruption...

"Wait! Stop the fight!" Jennifer ordered. "He's really hurt. He needs attention!"

"Bring him to our den... again." Kate ordered annoyed.

Jeff was injured again. Archie's leg was only fractured. Nothing that couldn't heal in time. Jeff needed constant attention.

Whillist in the fight, the dark figure was watching Jeff get beat down. Hopefully one day the dark figure will make an appearance, it is obviously stalking Jeff. It will be somebody Jeff will want to meet.

"It will be all right, Jeff." Jennifer assured him at the Alpha den.

Jeff didn't want to say anything. He was just embarrassed beyond measure. He is indeed surprised that Jennifer still wants to be with him. He will have to say something to Jennifer, but not now. He is tired of being injured. No more will this be happening to him. He is strong. He just needs to show it. For now-- sleep.

Chapter 6

"Jeff would be almost fully grown now." Aveline stated depressed.

"Come on, Aveline. You have to get over this some time. I haven't seen the fun in you for half a year. When are you going to let this behind you?" The horse Pierre asked frustratingly.

"Listen. You didn't lose your only son when he was only a small colt. Of course you can say that when it never happened to you." Aveline taunted Pierre.

"Sighs..." The horse gave up and left without saying a word.

It was morning and Jeff had woken up. He was still covered in blood; he went down to the lake, it seemed like a regular place to go now, considering his constant injuries. He didn't know if he should hold a grudge against Archie or let it go. He was still only a kid.

Jennifer was at the lake too, much to Jeff's interest. Jennifer hopped in with him and helped him clean up. "You're pretty good at getting hurt." Jennifer joked.

"Pfft!" He didn't say anything.

"Oh... Come on. He was bigger than you and you are still young. He is a year old. Fully grown. He is a fool for challenging a wolf of your age. Oh-- sorry... Husky." The beautiful brown wolf tried to convince Jeff.

"There is something I need to tell you." Jeff informed Jennifer.

She sat and gave Jeff the sign that she was listening.

"A couple days ago... Archie and Amy struck me down when I was trying to get some food. They grabbed my muzzle with their jaws and bit with warning." Jeff had downly explained.

"You're an Omega. That is common. Omegas eat last. Surely you were told that." Jennifer kept on trying to convince the husky Omega.

"I want to know what the benefits of joining this pack are. You are the only benefit. I... I love you and I need to ask you something..." Jeff pointedly asked Jennifer.

"Shoot." Jennifer confirmed.

"I want to see my mother-- and I want you to come with me. I want to do this when were grown up. And after... I think we should start our wolf pack." Jeff was asking a lot of Jennifer.

"I will do that all for you-- If you promise to do something for me." She insisted.

"I will do anything for you. Tell me what you want." Jeff confirmed.

"Promise me that you will love me for eternity, and that you truly want to start a pack. Never leave my side and help me when needed." She contested Jeff.

"Of course. All of that. I want to be with you." Jeff confirmed endlessly. "And one last thing-- When we start a pack, all of them with be part husky." Jeff added.

"It will be nice if they are like you. We will leave once we reach a year old, that way; we are at a suitable age." She finished and left Jeff soaking in the water.

During the entire conversation, the dark figure was watching again. It was coming, more and more often now. It almost never lost sight of Jeff. The figure was also getting closer each time. Soon enough, it will blow its cover. Or maybe it wants too.

Two months later. Jeff has grown more and it's the end of spring. Jeff and Jennifer had gone on a lot of dates. They were a romantic couple who still have kept their word. Luckily, within those two months, Jeff has gotten into no trouble. This day he wants to prove to the Alphas that he is no coward or Omega, he is more. Today, he will hunt for the first time in a long time.

The dark figure has never left now. It is always there watching. Luckily it hasn't been noticed. No doubt it'll want to observe Jeff's hunt, let's hope it doesn't get involved... for the figure's sake.

Jeff was starting to be full of pride before the hunt. He wanted to be known as "The Shivain Husky". What he didn't realise is that he already is.

Jennifer had evolved into more glamorous beauty; many males can't resist, but Jeff makes sure they do. Her mane has picked up a bit and her fur is now neater. She was the heat of the summer.

Amy and Archie soon will be the leaders of the pack. Amy's parents are retiring and getting ready to travel. It is traditional for wolves to leave before they die. All the other wolves are living a typical life. Jeff is excited to leave. To see his mother and to be an early father. It was all great for him, as well as Jennifer.

Jeff was walking alongside Jennifer to the field. She was going to watch him hunt. The dark figure however was at the top of the small Cliffside. It was right on the edge. The hunting ground was a small gorge. It was tight but good for boxing in caribou, bad to get caught in. Jeff was ready to hunt and to impress his mate. She was eager to see how he acts.

Jeff went into position. The caribou were too far to pounce, but he could get a good run at them before they can react. He hoped for the best and charged! The caribou noticed and took off too. Jeff was right on them. Jeff was trying to pick up speed, it was difficult but he managed. He got right up close. He was just about to bite the caribou's leg...

The dark figure moved in closer to get a good glimpse of Jeff, but it moved in too close and slid down the hill right in front of the caribou. The figure ran for its life but was too slow. Jeff hadn't noticed. The figure tripped over a rock and fell to the ground. The caribou leaped over and missed. Just as they leaped, Jeff bit missing and tripped over the figure. It was Daniele!

"What the..." Jeff said confused.

"Jeff! Are you all right?" Jennifer asked Jeff while yelling.

"What did I... Wait. Daniele-- Is that you?" Jeff walked over curious.

The fox didn't give a response. After a few seconds, she got up and looked at Jeff with a nervous smile.

"Hey." Daniele nervously managed.

"What are you doing here?" Jeff asked.

"Hold on. You know her?" Jennifer greatly wondered.

"I told you about Daniele. This is her. The one who took care of me when I was young. I can't believe it's you!" Jeff wagged with excitement.

"I have been watching since you joined the pack. All day long I have kept an eye on you. From the time you got trampled by the caribou to now." She gave.

"So you saw all that. I don't appreciate being watched throughout my life. I am also guessing that you saw everything personal." Jeff said not impressed.

"I only wanted to see your progress. You have been doing really well. You found a mate and you are going to return to your mother before you create your own pack." Daniele explained.

"You have no right listening in my conversations. You were even watching the romance! You are sick! Get out of here! And I was happy to see you." Jeff ordered.

"Jeff..." Daniele was cut off.

"Vicious barks... Go!" Jeff demanded.

Daniele ran off without making a second sight at Jeff. Jeff did not want a spy following him. Jennifer didn't know what to think.

"We should get back to the territory. I know you have a lot to think about." Jennifer attempted to calm Jeff down.

"Yeah. Okay. I'm sorry you had to see that. I will-- talk to you later." Jeff made out.

"All right. Bye, Jeff." Jennifer made leave.

Jeff walked back to his little sleeping place and sat down. He was thinking about Daniele, how they started off and how they ended. He thought to himself that he shouldn't have said that. He went too hard on Daniele. Next time they met, he was going to apologize and wanted to hear the whole story. She could've been watching out for him, but if she was, then how-come she didn't help him when he was in trouble? He was puzzled, but he did know that he was wrong. He hopes they will meet again. Jeff is not a rude person and what Daniele thinks he has become. He has not gained pack mentality. She probably thought he did, he was going to make it up to her. Jeff went to sleep, also thinking about how he has been embarrassed again by failing on his hunt.

Chapter 7

One month later and still no sign of Daniele. Jeff had given up on trying to look for her. He thinks that she had left for good. He was excited that in one more month, he and Jennifer were leaving. It was something that he had never expected when he joined the pack.

Amy was walking towards Jeff. He had never really cared for her anymore.

"Hey. I just want to check on you. And apologize. I have been kind of a bitch to you have I?" Amy asked.

"Yeah. Why? I liked you. Then you all of a sudden just turned on me." Jeff replied with a general wondering.

"You're an Omega. Doing what I did keeps the peace in a pack. I know that sounds ridiculous but you're a husky. You were not born to know the laws of the pack. We did the same thing to you as we did with our former Omega." Amy explained.

"No hard feelings. You did what you had to do." Jeff assured her.

While the two were chatting, Jennifer came up to see Jeff. She found it weird how Jeff was talking to Amy. Jeff told her, herself that he didn't like the Alphas.

"Hi, you two. What are you talking about?" Jennifer came out and asked.

"Pack law and stuff like that." Amy answered.

"Interesting. Jeff, can we meet tonight on the mountain?" Jennifer asked Jeff.

"Of course, sweetheart. I'll see you then." Jeff answered complimentary.

"Well-- tonight is soon, so I'll let you get ready for tonight. Enjoy yourself. Maybe we'll talk later." Amy said and left.

Jeff didn't reply and started grooming himself. He always had a habit of making himself look good before each date. He loves their nights out. It makes forget that he is an Omega. Omega dating is rare, so he wants to make the best of it. To assure that he looked good, he walked to the lake and glared at the water, seeing his reflection. Jeff winked at himself and waited for nightfall.

In the pack territory, the Alphas were having a little meeting.

"This has gone on long enough. The Tipan pack will just have to go with it." One of the Alphas stated.

"They are going to attack if we don't give them food. We will have to..." Jed was cut off by a heavy voice walking in with back up.

It was the leader of the Tipan pack. It was James. He was a muscular buff looking wolf. He was still in his youth, newly appointed Alpha leader of their pack.

"Time is up. We are done waiting. You have stolen all of our food. We are taking it back." James insisted.

"We will fight you if we have to!" Jed tried to intimidate James.

"I guess it has come to that, Shivain. Tipan... Attack!"

Jeff had no idea this was going on. He was walking up the mountain to see Jennifer waiting for him looking exquisite.

"Hey there." Jeff managed.

"So-- We are leaving in a month. I am excited. You are the one I want to spend my life with." Jennifer decided.

"Then we will..." A howl interrupted Jeff's sentence.

They both ran for the edge and witnessed the two packs fighting. They immediately sprinted down the mountain without saying a word. They reached the battle field. All they saw was bloodshed. They moved in to help.

Jeff was still fool-hardy and rushed in to attack the wolf tackling and biting one of the Shivain pack members. Jeff jumped upon the wolf and bit its neck. He jumped off the wolf with a firm grip on him, tipping him over and making the Tipan wolf bleed hard and unable to get up.

The sky started to get dark and it started raining. It was a downpour. The rain quickly made puddles.

Jennifer was trying to stay out of the fight as much as possible, but she was still caught in the middle of it. A Tipan wolf made a charge for a knocked her and bit at her side and knocked her in the face. Jeff saw and made a run for the wolf beating his mate. The Tipan wolf looked at Jeff as he was running. Jeff made a swipe of his claws across the Wolf's face, also piercing a single eye. The wolf fell in pain.

"Jennifer... Are you all right?' Jeff asked worried about her life.

"Yes, I guess." She got up and joined in the fight.

It has been an hour since the fight originated. The rain was only getting harder. The water had got up to the wolves knees. They were unaware of the water rising, soon they will all drown if they don't act and stop the fight. The injured wolves were under the water and drowning.

Soon enough, the water made it to their chests. Then they finally noticed.

"Run! Get out of the water!" Jed announced.

Everyone from both, Shivain and Tipan made it out, except the ones who were injured. There were three casualties: One from Shivain, two from Tipan.

"The territory is flooding. We have to work together. We can't fight at a time like this." Austin announced to the pack.

"Any food that is in this territory has probably evacuated towards Franc's peak." Amy convinced both packs.

There was a silence for a while then James decided to make a proposal. "Sighs... If we work with you, will you provide us with food?"

"I don't know. A few died in the fight that you started. And look at all the injured around you. If you do cooperate though, I guess we will give you food." Jed accepted.

"But look at our homes. They are destroyed." Amy noticed.

"We will rebuild." Kate reassured everyone.

Jeff made a gesture at Jennifer, signalling her to follow him. So she did and they went to the side of the territory.

"What is it?" Jennifer wondered aloud.

"I know you weren't planning on this, but considering what is happening, I think we should leave when waters' gone." Jeff made a change.

"I... Guess you're right. We'll leave when this is back to normal." Jennifer decided.

After a week of sunshine and rebuilding, the water was gone and the territory was almost back to normal, with the help pack Tipan. The packs were happy and getting along, very rare for two rival packs.

Jeff's scars from the fight were almost healed. Jennifer was too. When the water was gone, the wolves found the bodies of those who didn't make it. They spent a day of mourning. Wolves don't pity or look back; they move on and accept the past for what it is, so they didn't ever speak of the events. They just rebuilt.

"So-- Jennifer. Are you ready to go?" Jeff wanted to make sure Jennifer was ready.

"Yes. I told my parents. They didn't approve of course, but this is my choice. So... Franc's peak?" Jennifer tried to remember.

"Yes. I need to see my mom first." Jeff resurrected Jennifer.

"All right. I can't wait to meet your mother." Jennifer excitedly said.

Jeff was hoping to meet Daniele along the way. She might have went back home to the meadow. For all he knew, she never wanted to see him again, but he couldn't let their friendship end. Jennifer was never really sure what to make of it, she never knew Daniele.

Wolves have never had strong relationships with Foxes. Foxes have always feared wolves after hearing the legends of them. Daniele didn't fear Jeff because he was a dog.

Jeff and Jennifer had made their journey. They were romantic kids, leaving home early to complete their relationship and live together for life. They had everything planned out for life. Most wolves wait till their departure from the pack to find dispersal from somewhere else. This was a change, a change they couldn't be happier with. They only had one thing left to decide... Where to raise their pack.

Chapter 8

"This will be so fun! I can't wait to see the puppies!" Jennifer yelled out joyfully.

"Yeah. Me too." Jeff answered back.

Jeff didn't know what to think. He still thought they were too young to have pups. He loved Jennifer though, so he wanted to fulfill her wishes.

Jeff and Jennifer had few conversations on their way Franc's peak. When they were nearly there, they started to discuss where to raise their pack.

"Yellowstone! That's the perfect place." Jennifer insisted.

"Are you sure? There are a lot of humans in Yellowstone." Jeff warned her.

"There isn't a Shoshone lake at Yellowstone." She assured him.

"That's going to be a few days journey." Jeff told her.

"Does it matter? We will be spending the rest of our lives together at a beautiful place overlooking the mountains. Also we need an appropriate place for the pups. Shoshone Lake is perfect!" Jennifer reassured him.

"If you want, I guess. But will need to pass through human communities." Jeff warned sounding uneasy.

"It's worth the risk. We have to do this." Jennifer was up to the task.

"All right then. We are almost at my place. Just across this meadow." Jeff ran with Jennifer along-side him.

They ran till they reached the cliff, which Jeff got familiar with when he fell over it during the cold winter night when he was young. They noticed no way up. If there was a way up, Jeff would have been back already.

"Um..." Jeff hesitated.

"What do you suppose we do now?" Jennifer asked.

"Howls" Jeff tried to get his mother's attention. "Howl with me. My mother might hear." Jeff told Jennifer.

They both sat beside each other and howled loudly trying to get the attention of Jeff's mother, Aveline. There was no response, but the two didn't give up.

While at the house, Aveline was drinking water out of a bowl that her owner's filled for her. She heard something off in the distance and lifted her ears to listen to the distant sound. It was a howl no doubt. Aveline ran in the direction of the howl to figure out what was doing that. "Wolf", was in her mind. She reached the cliff to see two young canines howling below.

Jeff caught the sight of his mother and stopped howling, Jennifer following suit.

"Mom! It's me! Jeff!" Jeff called out to his mother.

"Jeff. Oh my god! Where have you been? And who is that with you?" Aveline turned her focus on Jennifer.

"This is Jennifer. She is a wolf and my mate. I came back to see you, before I leave to go to Yellowstone." Jeff stated.

The statement caught Aveline off guard. "Yellowstone? Come back home!" Aveline insisted to her boy.

"I can't. I am going to start a pack with my mate. I have lived my childhood. I am moving on now." Jeff informed his mother.

"You're not a wolf. You're a husky who has a home." Aveline pointed out to Jeff.

"My place is with Jennifer now. My home will be with her. It was good to see you again, mother. I must leave now. Bye... mother."

Aveline couldn't bare to say another word. She was happy to see her baby one last time. She knew he had grown up. She didn't have to grieve anymore. Her boy found love and a great life. Her worries were gone, now she could rest.

Jeff and Jennifer were on their way to Yellowstone. Jeff still had one more thing to do... Find Daniele.

"So... I want to talk about the pups." Jennifer encouraged Jeff.

"What about?" Jeff seemingly followed.

"The pup's names. I don't know what to choose." Jennifer's mind spun in circles trying to look for the perfect name.

"We will choose together when they are born." Jeff calmed her down.

"I'm scared of pregnancy." Jennifer was getting worried and worked up.

"Don't be. Having pups will be the greatest thing ever in your life. Don't be scared. This will be great. And we'll pull through it together." Jeff went close to Jennifer and rubbed his head fur against hers.

Jennifer smiled back at Jeff, knowing that he had convinced her. She was now only thinking of the fun times ahead.

"Danyla." Jeff said aloud.

Jennifer looked at him in confusion.

"Ha-ha! It's a name for one of the pups." Jeff released her confusion.

"Hmm. That's actually a nice name-- For a girl." Jennifer agreed.

"Yep." Jeff ended the conversation.

They were walking through a trail made by other animals that have passed through. The highway was near, a dangerous six-way. The trees were green. It was the middle of summer, in a month; it will be Jeff's first birthday. A lot has happened in his life for one year. They kept on walking and reached the highway.

"There are so many human vehicles. How are we going to get across?" Jennifer was worried.

"We will wait till there are a slight lesser number of vehicles, and take our chances." Jeff decided.

Jennifer didn't like the plan, but it was a plan. They waited till the number of vehicles decreased. It took a while, and then they saw their chance and grasped it!

They both took charge out on the highway, dodging vehicles that were also trying to dodge them. After a few seconds, they made it to the other side, panting over the fright they just were in.

"Let's not do that again." Jennifer insisted.

"Fine by me." Jeff panted.

So they went their way into the forest. Yellowstone was only a few miles.

Yellowstone was a beautiful forest. Lots of mountains and many lakes. Jeff and Jennifer decided to choose a mountain not occupied by humans... Amethyst Mountain, near Slough creek. It was a nice place to raise pups; they just need to watch for other wildlife.

"Pierre! Pierre!" Aveline called out to the horse, Pierre.

"What is it?" Pierre asked worried.

"It's Jeff. He's alive!" Aveline cried.

"Where is he?" Pierre wondered.

"He came by to tell me he was alive and to say he was leaving to start a pack with another wolf." Aveline explained.

"Are you happy with what happened? You know your boy is alive." Pierre asked.

"Yes." Aveline turned and left with tears of happiness.

She walked over to the house and lay down on her made bed she made for her and Jeff a long time ago. The bed will always make her remember Jeff. She is going to sleep soundly, knowing that her son will no longer be in danger. He has grown up and learned how to take care of rough situations himself.

This was also good for Pierre. He and Aveline had been friends since he had come to the ranch. He had always hated seeing Aveline sad. Now that she knows her boy is safe. He and Aveline will now continue with their friendship.

In a few days, Jeff and Jennifer reached the mountain. It was beautiful.

"Are you sure you prefer this over Shoshone lake?" Jeff wanted to make sure.

"Oh, yes. Now let's go have ourselves some pups." Jennifer walked close to Jeff.

"No rest 'eh. Hehe. We'll rest later. Come on. Jeff encouraged Jennifer.

"Right behind you!" Jennifer ran to the cave on the side of the hill.

Epilogue

Jeff and Jennifer were mated and all was well. They will continue to clean their new territory and fix it up for the new pack. They were expecting the puppies soon, considering Jennifer's condition.

The humans that owned Jeff gave up and assumed he died. They cried for a short two days, remembering a playful white puppy that they loved. The humans were getting to the elder age; they gave up their jobs and decided to travel for the rest of their lives in the forests around Canada and the states.

The mother of Jeff, Aveline died of an illness that the humans did not find out. The owners didn't take her to a vet. She died two months after the meeting with Jeff. Aveline had a few years left in her, but the slow reactions of the humans cost Aveline her life.

Pierre, the horse lived a lonely life after the death of his best friend. The year after, he got accepted in the rodeo's taking place all around America. He was a champion horse with a good rider. He enjoyed his career, but still thinking of Aveline at times. He didn't let that stop him from getting to the finals though.

Amy and Archie mated for life and had pups. Her parents stepped back out of leadership and let her take their place with Archie. They became the leaders of the Shivain pack. The pack was now stronger than ever with new tough rules and musts. They also gave gruelling tasks for the Omegas. The pack may have been strong, but the Alpha leaders lost the pack's trust.

The Shivain pack and the Tipan pack fixed the territory and restored order. Jed kept his end of the bargain and gave James and his pack food. But soon, he will take that back and Tipan fend for themselves.

The caribou and Elk eventually left the territory to avoid the two hungry packs. With the food disappearance, the two packs fought again, killing many wolves. The fight was a fight to the death and Shivain survived with few survivors. The few members split up. Amy and Archie were even driven apart.

Daniele was never seen again. Jeff still wanted to search for her. Daniele had no clue of their intentions of relocating, so she could turn up. That is Jeff's hope. Daniele spent her days traveling to various locations around Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. She came back to Wyoming after her travels to stay. It was easier for her to keep in Yellowstone.

Jennifer had four puppies. They were still young. Jeff had to go out on hunts while Jennifer stayed at the den and watched them. There was a large amount of food in Yellowstone. Jennifer had chosen well. Jeff and Jennifer had no idea what had happened to the packs back at Shoshone, and probably won't want to find out. They continued to raise their pack to full growth. They were still young and would take a while. It was a perfect start to a new pack.
