Over the River and Through the Woods

Chapter 46

Etienne thought he saw his life flash before his eyes as thick-necked Feven came running at him, snarling and roaring, all flexing muscles and eyes glinting rage. But Asres was sitting on Etienne's erection, and he couldn't exactly pry him off in time. So they both sat there, caught in the act, half-naked, and holding each other as the big male barreled in.

But Feven lurched to a sudden stop, his face horrified, as Asres froze guiltily in Etienne's lap. He actually had tears in his eyes when he grabbed Asres by the waist and slid him off Etienne with a wet suck. Asres cried out, somewhere between pleasure and pain as Etienne's enormous shaft was yanked from his backside. Feven set Asres on his feet - and then proceeded to argue with him in their language.

Etienne hastily buttoned his pants and watched in amazement as Feven went in zero seconds from roaring rage to crying supplication. Asres folded his arms and shook his head and refused to look at Feven, who sank to his knees and wept before him. He dropped his forehead against Asres' slender belly and clutched like a child at his hips. Etienne listened sadly and caught a few words. He recognized "love" and "forgive me" and "please." He remembered Taiga saying "please" in their language the first time he ate her sex. She lay on her back and begged for more each time Etienne came up for air. But he could hold his breath a long time. She was never left begging.

Feven looked so pitiful that Etienne actually found himself . . . pitying him. He thought about slipping from the room and hiding away in Taiga's bedroom. Anything was better than witnessing this. But Asres dismissed Feven with a wave of his paw, then folded his arms again and refused once more to look at him.

On his knees before his prince, Feven looked at Asres with his mouth open and his ears flat, as if his entire world had crumbled. Then he got heavily to his feet, and without even glancing at Etienne, he slouched out.

"Wow," Etienne said into the silence. "Sure you weren't too hard on him? I mean . . . you just cheated on him . . . with me." Etienne scratched his ears, watching as Asres stepped into his pants.

The young prince looked lovely with his black mane down, his black chest bare, struggling with a flapping penis to pull his pants over his boots. Etienne came up behind him and helped him, carefully tucking his penis away. Asres blushed a little as Etienne slid his paw deeper and cupped Asres' heavy sack in a careful massage. Then he drew his paw away and buttoned his pants for him.

"I told him he was done," Asres said quietly. "That he was my bodyguard no more. Father will understand."

"What? Isn't that a little . . . extreme? I mean, I know it would be awkward having him around guarding you, but . . . Feven loves you, Asres."

"No. If he loved me, he would have talked me out of giving up my vision, instead of trying so hard to make me honor the gods with my purity. If he loved me, he would have let me touch him, be intimate, and he said he wanted to so many times . . . but he was so afraid of the gods! I thought my purity aroused him, but that wasn't it at all. He was just . . . afraid."

Etienne was silent a moment. ". . . well, can you blame him?" he said at last. "I mean . . . look at all the stuff that's happened to me."

Asres' ears flattened and he frowned sadly as Etienne hugged him from behind. Etienne kissed his ear.

"Let him come back in a bit, at least? Feven was just trying to protect you. There is no shame in being afraid of the gods," Etienne said. He patted Asres on the butt, then turned and entered Taiga's room.

"Wait!" Asres called. He followed Etienne, appearing in the doorway of the bedroom. He stood there, watching as Etienne sat on the edge of the bed and removed his boots. "What are you doing?"

"Getting some much needed sleep. Azrian sort of . . . kept me up last night."

Asres' ears went down again. "Oh."

The boy looked so crestfallen as he turned away, Etienne called him back. He smiled when Asres' ears pricked forward eagerly.

"You can snuggle with me. If you want."

Asres grinned. He came to the bed but stopped uncertainly. His hips were very near Etienne's face as he looked at the bed, trying to decide where to slip in.

"Or I could suck your dick," Etienne whispered and placed his big paw on the boy's hip.

Asres watched as Etienne unbuttoned his pants and pealed out his soft penis. "E-Etienne?" he whispered as Etienne's mouth drew close. The soft sound of wet sucking and moaning soon filled the room, and Asres frowned with pleasure, his head falling back as Etienne devoured him in long, hot sucks. "Oh . . . Etienne."

Feven was so distraught, he did not return to the burrow that night, and Tesrit and Genet questioned their children at length about it over supper. Taiga genuinely didn't have a clue why Feven was missing and Asres refused to speak of it. The parents suspected that Feven's disappearance had everything to do with Etienne and flat out said so, but Etienne remained silent, and so they were left to their suspicions.

When the burrow was dark and still and Tesrit and Genet sleeping, Taiga and Asres led Etienne to the surface. It was an easy enough thing -- so easy that Etienne silently fumed over the fact that they hadn't helped him before. He had to keep reminding himself how afraid of the gods Taiga and Asres -- and the rest of their clan -- were. Asres had already told him once that if they displeased Maret, she would abandon them, and it would only be a matter of time before the dogs of the nearby town were able to simply hunt them all down. Or perhaps Maret would give them to the dogs as punishment for their disobedience. She was the goddess of death, after all, and had been known to do such things to her worshippers.

They put a hood on Etienne, gave him a spear, and pretended like he was Feven. He was the perfect height for the ruse, and his black snout poking from the depths of the hood made him look like a black fox.

They managed to pass the guards in the corridors without incident, and Asres led them to an old hole he dug out when he was a child. There were few who knew about it, and over the years, he dug it out bigger and wider, so that Feven could fit through whenever the two of them decided to go on moonlit strolls together. Etienne and the others slipped out through the hole, and before long, were passing through the cold and fog, through the deep, dark of MihretForest.

Taiga walked with her ears pricked forward, straight and alert, an arrow nocked to her bow, her eyes narrow as she listened, her mouth grim. In the dark of the night, she was a cold warrior, ready to protect her charges from any danger.

Asres relied more on magic to defend himself than actual weapons. He hadn't even bothered bringing his spear, just the dagger he always wore around his throat. He led them through the darkness, lighting their way with a glowing orb of blue light. The magical light lit his face from beneath and sent the loose tresses of his braided mane rippling back on an ethereal breeze. He walked slowly and carefully, stopping often to listen, his sister one a step behind him.

"We should have brought Feven," Taiga complained.

Etienne glanced at Asres, whose eyes grew dull with anger.

"Well, we didn't," Asres grumbled. "So drop it."

Taiga's head jerked back on her neck in surprise. "Look . . . what's going on with you and Feven? I swear I saw him crying today. Crying." She drew closer to her brother and peered into his face.

Asres turned his face away, and Etienne could see he was getting visibly upset. "Just drop it, Taiga. Damn," the boy complained. He suddenly halted under a gnarled tree, and the others followed suit as he cursed under his breath. "Now I've lost my way."

"Where are we going anyway?" Etienne wondered, leaning on his spear as he tried his damnedest to peer through the fog. But the fog was too thick. And he got the feeling Maret was hiding in the trees, watching them in the form of a crow, making the fog happen so that they would turn back to the burrow. After all, why should the goddess just let him walk away? Or maybe she knew he planned to give Taiga a child, and in that case, did not care if he left.

"We're going to a shrine," Asres said, peering off into the darkness. "They act as portals. Use it, and you can move half across the nine kingdoms in a split second."

Etienne lifted his brows. That was convenient. "So I don't have to go over the river and through the woods just to reach Grandmother's house. Good."

"It's . . . this way," Asres said and started off again.

"How can you tell?" Etienne wondered.

"He feels the vibrations," Taiga replied for her brother. "Because of his connection to the gods, he could find one of their shrines blind. He would have to . . . if he became a full Seer." She glowered at her brother's back. "Did you and Feven argue about it again? Because Feven wants you to be a Seer and you don't want to?"

Asres scowled.

"Lay off him, Taiga," Etienne grumbled.

Taiga glanced at Etienne irritably. "Mind your business," she said to him. "And answer me," she said to her brother.

Asres made an irritated noise. They traveled for a time in silence before he finally said in a low voice, ". . . Etienne and I made love. There. Are you happy?"

Taiga didn't say a word. Etienne tried to catch a glimpse of her face, but she looked away and would not turn her head. Her bow was still held at the ready, and her ears were forward, and she continued to listen for threats with a completely neutral expression. Etienne decided that if he was smart, he wouldn't say a word about what he and Asres had done. So he didn't.

"For curiosity's sake," Etienne said to break the tension, "where in the nine kingdoms _are_we exactly? What towns are nearby? You speak fluent common tongue. Surely you trade with dogs? I know there are some tribes that do so."

"Yes, that's true," Taiga confirmed stiffly. "My brother and I sometimes go with our traders to translate, or else to help negotiations when the dogs believe we have done them wrong. Recently, they have been unreasonable. They wished to run us from the forest. They believed we made their cattle sick." Taiga snorted. "Superstitious nonsense."

"They tried to chase us away with fire," Asres added darkly. "So Great Maret made the forest sick and black. And the dogs left us alone."

"Only problem is," Taiga said, staring off with narrowed eyes, "we have lost access to their trade goods. They had good meat, tools . . . things we have never had access to on this side of the hills."

"Things they keep from us," Asres added in a low voice, "so that we are dependent on their trade. So that we are lured from our burrows and they can hunt us."

"Why don't you just move on?" Etienne wondered.

Taiga glanced at Etienne and laughed dryly. "Move on? This is our home, dog god. Our ancestors were plucking the fruit of this land before the first dog appeared on its shores. If someone tried to chase you from your castle, would you simply move on? Or would you stand and fight?"

Etienne walked along, leaning on his spear, and was silent a moment before he answered, "Good point."

Taiga nodded and looked away.

"There is a town . . ." Asres said with a sniff and stepped over a tree root so that the light hovering over his paw bobbed up and down. With his free paw, he clutched his bear fur coat shut, and Etienne could see his breath hissing in a frosty white mist on the air. ". . . there is a town nearby by . . . the dogs call . . . Eddleton."

"Eddleton," Etienne sighed. "I know where we are."

The other two glanced at Etienne curiously.

"Idria," Etienne said darkly. "Those two boneheads in Skkye cast me down in Idria. You know how far that is from Varimore? I might as well be on the opposite side of the earth. And this forest . . ." Etienne glanced around. "It might be called . . . Crown Hill. Crown Hill Forest."

Taiga's nose scrunched up. "CrownHillForest? What bizarre names you dogs give to the lands. The forest is Mihret and the river is Zemyi. Those are their names. And have been for thousands of years."

"But how do you know? Were you there a thousand years ago?" Etienne teased.

Taiga rolled her eyes. "Shut up."

"We were all there a thousand years ago," Asres said quietly, and Etienne knew he meant in spirit, living in the blood of their ancestors. The young male crunched to a halt in the dead grass and held the light aloft. "Here we are," he whispered breathlessly.

Etienne and Taiga halted either side of Asres and followed his gaze.

The shrine before them was not unlike Ti'uu's shrine in Varimore. It was a great stone dais with statues of the nine gods standing at intervals between great stone pillars. The largest statue of all was a female bird spreading her wings, her eyes glittering black jewels, her beak pointed to the sky as if she would take flight. Etienne could only assume the large statue was Maret. She towered over an altar in the center of the dais, on which candle stubs and dried flowers lay.

Etienne tried to push away thoughts of laying Azrian's bloody body on such an altar. She was bleeding somewhere right now, only this time, he wasn't there to save her. He dragged himself from his thoughts when he heard Asres ask if he as alright.

"Wha . . .? Never better," Etienne lied, hating the betraying crack in his voice.

"You'll get to Azrian in time, you'll see," Taiga said soothingly and touched his arm.

They approached the altar, and as Asres lit the candles with the fire from his fingertips, Taiga looked Etienne in the eye and began to undress. She slowly unbuttoned her bear fur coat and lifted her chin as she let it fall in a pile around her boots. Her bare breasts jiggled in the dance of the candle flame, high and curved and jutting in the cold with her dark nipples. Etienne swallowed hard as he watched her kick off her boots and slide her pants off next. She slowly pushed them down over the wide curve of her hips, until her shapely thighs and long legs were also bare in the cold. Her tail flicked free as she stepped out of her pants and kicked them away, never breaking eye contact with Etienne. She reached up, undid her bun, and shook her long black mane free. It tumbled once and settled around her shoulders, thick and wild and course as her brother's.

Etienne felt himself swelling in his pants. It had been such a long time since he'd been with Taiga. He took her by the waist and set her on the altar. She watched breathlessly as he pushed her thighs apart . . . and buried his face between.

Taiga's sex had always been so hot and musky, squirming and soft. Etienne liked the strong scent of her and buried his nose against her clitoris a moment before he sucked it. She squirmed against the pleasure and touched his head, and when he felt Asres unbuttoning his pants, his heart leapt: he had forgotten the boy was even there. His pants fell around his boots, and as he stepped out of them, his hard penis wobbled against the cold air. But it was so throbbing hot. And so hungry.

"Th-There's no time for this," Taiga whispered weakly.

Etienne dragged his tongue against her sex and licked his lips. "There's always time for this," he whispered and buried his face again.

Taiga's head fell back as he licked her to dripping, swollen arousal. Her thighs trembled against the sides of his face. He paused to lick them as well, reaching around to stroke her excited tail. He sputtered against her sex when Asres suddenly closed his mouth on his erection and started to suck. He could feel the boy clutching at his backside as he sucked him with hungry abandon, clumsily and eagerly, his fangs occasionally brushing him but his tongue too ravenous for the blunders to matter.

Before long, the sound of Taiga's helpless cries, Etienne's wet licking, and Asres' eager gulping had filled the chill silence. Etienne glanced past Taiga's waist and thought he saw the candles glowing brighter on the altar, as if in response to her throbbing arousal. He slapped his tongue against her sex a last time, curling it to lap up her juices, and she squirmed again when he sucked gently on her clit.

"Mmm . . . Taiga," Etienne whispered happily, and straightened up to touch her face.

Taiga smiled at him and placed her paw over his.

Asres was still sucking Etienne and pulled his mouth free to lick his heavy sack with the tip of his tongue. Etienne frowned with pleasure and closed his eyes, allowing the boy to bathe him with hot spit. He reached blindly and found Asres' head, then eased his face slowly over his enormous shaft and guided him to suck.

Asres blushed furiously when Etienne started to thrust into his face, slowly and carefully, his muscular and tight buttocks flexing on each gentle turn of his hips. Asres slipped his fingers between Etienne's buttocks, and after hesitating a moment, began to finger him.

Etienne grunted as Asres devoured him, looking with burning lust at beautiful Taiga, who was still sitting on the altar with her legs splayed. He smoothed his paw down her cheek, caught her lip with his thumb, and drew her close in a passionate kiss. She kissed him back readily and gulped breathlessly on his tongue when his big fingers glided carefully in her sex. He curled them in a gentle caress, and her lips pulled from his, parting in a shrill cry.

Asres pulled his mouth away, and Etienne could feel the string of salvia that led from his penis to the boy's hanging tongue. "We . . . really don't have time," Asres panted. "The portals only work at night."

Etienne's response was to take Asres by the head . . . and slide his enormous shaft back in his mouth.

"Mm!"

"Etienne!" Taiga cried.

Etienne ignored her, looking at beautiful Asres with narrowed eyes as his penis flinched and twitched against the boy's muffled cries. Asres gulped and sputtered but did not try to escape, and Etienne sighed as he released hard. Asres choked it down, blushing again as Etienne's seed rushed to fill his mouth and throat. Etienne slid himself free, and Asres fell forward on paws and knees, gasping to swallow. Etienne could see his white seed dripping from the boy's mouth, but he was still hard. And knew he would be.

"Call that a . . . parting gift," Etienne panted and touched Asres' cheek.

Asres lifted his eyes to look at him, and he smiled.

Etienne looked at Taiga. "And now for your gift," he whispered. He leaned close, gently easing her down on the altar, and she lay beneath him with her legs splayed, her breasts riding with the breathless beat of her heart. Etienne silently guided her to paws and knees, and he could tell she was mortified by his choice of position. On her back, she could hide under him. But on her knees? Her brother would see everything -- especially her breasts flapping. She whispered Etienne's name in protest, but he climbed on top of her, and after spreading the swollen lip of her sex with his thumb, he crammed his huge shaft inside. Her eyes widened as he punched through her juices, filling her. She trembled and screamed softly, then bowed her head as he began to ride. Her lovely breasts flapped with his every thrust, and he reached under to grope them as he rode her, until her cries were in rhythm with his thrusts.

"Ah! Ah! Ah! A-Ah!" Taiga shrilled to the cold night air, to the winking stars, as Etienne rode her, kissing her neck and caressing her hard nipples. He knocked her legs apart wider the better to get in and instantly felt himself slide even deeper through her clenching heat. She cried out as he punched so deep, there was visible bulge in her belly.

Asres watched them rocking on the altar with his mouth hanging open. He stared at Etienne's thick penis feeding in and out of his sister's tight lips, at Etienne's big body flexing with muscles, and Etienne saw him pitch a tent. Then with a sudden frown, the boy started undoing his pants.

"As-Asres?" Etienne panted.

"What are you d-doing!" Taiga cried as Asres stepped out of his pants.

Asres ignored them both, his fat little penis standing upright and thick. He came to the altar and climbed on it with them, and after hesitating . . . he plunged himself hard into Etienne's backside.

Etienne grunted in Taiga's neck at the sudden thick intrusion of the younger male's erection pushing, forcing its bold way into his anus. He could feel Asres kissing the tight muscles of his back, rubbing them, and then he was humping Etienne, hard but slow, smoothing his tail aside as he made love to him.

The three of them rocked, gasped, moaned, and sighed as the song of their lovemaking drifted to the stars. And caught between the beautiful siblings, Etienne knew he would not last very long. And he didn't. He clutched Taiga's breasts in fistfuls, and grimacing, he pressed himself deep and came inside her hard. She moaned as it happened, moaned as she took it, her thighs trembling as her juices seeped down them. Breathless and weak, she dropped on the altar and lay there, panting and staring, her breasts riding with her gasps.

Etienne and Asres climbed off the altar and dressed. Etienne could still feel Asres under his tail and smiled: the boy had left his mark.

"S-Sorry," Asres said sheepishly, as if emerging from Etienne's thoughts. He buttoned up his pants and moved on to his coat. "I just wanted to . . . I needed to."

Etienne smiled as he buttoned his own pants. "How'd I taste?" he teased.

Asres turned away, blushing. "The portal is over here."

Etienne gathered Taiga's clothes and helped her dress. She sat up, allowing him to help her get her coat back on. He lifted her by the waist down from the altar and set her on her feet. As he helped her step into her pants, Asres touched one of two great stone pillars, which stood together like a doorway with no wall. Light swirled between the pillars, humming softly in the silence. Asres stood beside the activated portal, its swirling light making the loose tresses of his braid dance and setting the side of his face aglow.

"Don't go," Taiga muttered to the ground.

Etienne smiled sadly as he buttoned her coat for her. "I have to."

"Because you don't love me," she sulked.

"Because I love her," he corrected.

She looked at him quickly, surprised by the affection in his tone. It was the closest he'd ever come to saying he cared about her, and she couldn't move. He cupped her face and leaned down . . . and kissed her tenderly. She kissed him back a moment, losing herself, melting into his tongue. Then the tears sprang to her eyes and she remembered she couldn't have him and she pushed him off. Etienne looked at her anxiously, and she laughed softly.

"Go," she said, shoving him in the shoulder. "Get out of here, you ass." She laughed as the tears trickled down her face.

Etienne smiled and wiped away her tear. "Take care, Taiga."

Taiga nodded and looked away.

Etienne approached the portal, where Asres stood waiting. "So uh . . . how exactly does this work?" he wondered. "I just . . . think of where I want to go . . . and it takes me?"

Asres laughed. "Don't be stupid." He nodded at one of the pillars, upon which many symbols had been carved. One symbol was glowing, and Etienne recognized it as the symbol from Ti'uu's shrine in Varimore. His eyes danced over the rest of the symbols -- which certainly would have led to other shrines -- and the fact that the foxes once had such sophisticated magical technology and were now living in dirt holes . . . flabbergasted him.

"What are you waiting for?" Asres said. He was trying to put on a brave face and laugh, but he was as transparent as his sister.

Etienne stepped close and kissed him. When their lips pealed apart, he was cupping the back of the younger male's head, and Asres peered up at him with wet eyes and trembling lips.

"Take care of Feven," Etienne said.

Asres nodded against the touch of his paw. "And take care of Azrian. We are trusting you to save her . . . so she can save us."

Etienne nodded. "Farewell, cutie."

Asres blushed.

Etienne stepped into the light of the portal. And there was no momentary darkness. There was no transition period. He was instantly in CrinningtonForest. The birds were singing. The sun was bright. The sky was a cheerful blue. And horses were thundering along through the trees, voices were laughing. A gunshot. Someone screamed.

Etienne gasped when he saw a small female fox burst through the bushes clutching her arm. Tears were in her eyes and her face was pained. A dart was embedded deeply in her upper arm and she was trying to pull it out with shaking fingers. Behind her, the sound of racing horses drew near, and Etienne could hear the hooting and laughing.

"Where are you, you little cunt!"

"Woo hooooo! Gonna have fox pussy for suppa tonight!"

More laughter.

The small vixen glanced around breathlessly and spotted Etienne, who was standing at Ti'uu's shrine, before the now-deactivated portal. His ears pricked forward when she ran desperately to him and fell. He caught her just as her pursuers broke through the trees.

"Are you alright?" Etienne whispered to the fox. She was white and fluffy, and her eyes were blue as the sea. She tried to speak, but the drug was kicking in, and instead, she passed out.

". . . the bloody hell?!" shouted a voice.

Clutching the vixen to his chest, Etienne looked up to see two males dismounting horses. One was an Afghan Shepherd breed, pale golden, tall, and lean.

The other male . . . was Jonathan.
