Uprising *Intro*
The intro chapter to Uprising by me
I looked down at the bleak city from one of the tallest building. The air was thick with the smell of machine fuel and smog. I stood to my feet my cobalt wolf ears twitching as I heard something behind me.
"Ready Xav?" said someone.
I turned around to see a blue dragon with long whiskers, red markings on his arms, neck, and face. He had a slender body that was wrapped with black clothing that was slightly baggy compared to my white with gold trim on the shoulders and waist down the legs and sleeves which had tightness to it. He wore pitch black sunglasses that hid his piercing yellow eyes.
"When am I not ready Buster?" I simply asked.
"If I had a buck for every time you weren't ready I'd be the enemy; wouldn't I?" He said walking towards me.
He stood in front of me and held up a small black earphone; I took it from his clawed hand clipping it to my right ear. Before we could continue speaking to each other a loud horn blared and giant oval shaped silver balloons that were 30 feet long and 15 feet wide ascended into the sky from the ground across the glowing city. We watched as the balloons stopped ascending only to be pinned in midair.
"See you on the other side kitten." Buster said as he began levitating up into the air and flew forward.
I scoffed as I turned around to my original position. I braced myself stepping back before running forward jumping off the roof falling rapidly until I landed on one of the silver balloons 500 meters below; I maneuvered my large feet to try and keep my balance on the slightly squishing surface. I ran across the first balloon jumping to the second one 15 feet away looking down at the city that was now illuminated by light and the sound of joy could be heard from the people below. I ran again jumping to the third balloon doing a forward flip shouting in excitement. I was running across the forth one when I stopped in my tracks seeing mechanical arms climbing up the sides all around me. I crossed my arms grabbing the two rapiers on my sides; one was black with a red rose charm the other pure white with a snowflake charm on the handle the two blades were slim and only 3.5 feet long but looked like two halves of the exact same beautiful sword. I narrowed my eyes ten feet from me to see a robot that was lithe body and hands with a simple box shaped head and red glowing eyes.
"Intruder, identify yourself." The robot commanded as more climbed up around us.
I scoffed and smirked doing a wind-up before throwing the black sword holding onto the chain. The blade went through the chest of the robot along with the three behind. I pulled they chain back bringing the blade back forcing it to spin slicing them in half from the waist catching the handle as they collapse into 6 pieces. The rest of the standing machines braced themselves their hand morphing into two foot long blades before charging at me; running on the balloons surface like it was nothing. I took a stable horse stance not moving for a moment until one was within arm's reach; I slammed the blades together at the flat sides holding the handles firmly while swinging the now joined blades slicing the hand and head of the robots one by one occasionally slashing at the legs and doing a quick spin cutting them to bits and pieces. I decided I had enough and was running out of time. I quickly darted forward cutting down the bots like trees before jumping of the edge to the next balloon only to be chased by the fast machines.
"Persistent bastards." I say running faster across the squishy surface.
I jumped landing on the next balloon reaching the central quarter point of the city when my leg was grabbed from beneath me making me fall onto my stomach. I turned to see a robot rising out of the balloon as if it had been melted onto it. it stopped rising at its waist its other hand turning into a large drill the spun like wild making a whirling sound that sent shivers down my spine.
"Eliminate!" it said loudly in a deep voice.
I panic splitting the sword in two to stab the balloon below me making it pop with a loud burst that ripped through the air. My body felt completely weightless as gravity pulled me down. I pulled up my right sleeve to reveal a black band that went from my wrist to the bend of my elbow; I tapped it and the screen came to life showing a raven haired deep blue furred jackal inside.
"Beta I could use some flight!" I shouted as I continued to fall.
"No problem man." He said quickly and a blue field surrounded me making most of the metal glow.
The metal and flew around my legs being reformed to the same shape; wires wrapped around that along with a final shell of metal before the bubble vanished and I felt a rumbling at my feet as I was quickly lift back into the air I looked down seeing I was now wearing rocket boots.
"Like them? They are ESRB Energy Syphoning Rocket Boots. They need the same energy as the robots to operate luckily if they make contact with the balloons or robots they will quickly recharge by pulling the energy into them." Beta explained to me.
"Beta I owe you an amazing dinner when we get you your body back." I said flying off quickly.
I flew extremely fast to the point my grey and cobalt pointed pony tail was flapping quickly. I descended onto a balloon to let the boots recharge. I smirked when I saw more robotic hands coming out of the silvery surface. I jumped up high letting the boots activate again looking back to see the bots had grown wings to continue our game of chase. I stopped midair bringing my knees to my chest letting the boots release a burst of energy propelling me backwards doing a multitude of backflips until I made contact with bots chest sending us backwards as we fell downwards. I turned around looking at it to see the robot being drained of energy until powering down. I grabbed it by one of its arms throwing the entire boy up at the others who were flying towards me; I quickly took off again flying lower under the balloons but still above the city.
"Any more tricks Beta?" I asked him looking at my wrist again
"You know I do." He replied before a blue beam shot out of the bracer going behind me.
As the beam went through each robot they began short circuiting them one by one.
"Yo Xavier where are you?" I heard Buster say to me over the ear piece.
"Be there in thirty seconds." I stated.
I put my blades back in their holsters and extended my right hand to the 90 degree angle where two black buildings met. My cobalt spots, tips, and streak glowed brightly as ice shot from my hand creating a curved obtuse slide on the sides. I turned to my side letting my back slide against the smooth surface to make the sharp left turn. The target building it was looking for was just ahead just a few miles away with the building at the middle floor wide open. I reached into my pocket pulling out a few small pods throwing them back quickly; my eyes glowed before the pods exploded sending me flying even faster to the point it was hard to see what was in front of me. I began spinning in a circle slowing myself down just enough to see where I was heading; I had finally reach normal speed 10 feet away from the building that was made of thick black glass covered in fine thin layer of gold. I straightened up as I hovered up a few more floors to the open window only to step in with Buster and a girl as the door closed leaving me in darkness.
